00:02definitely the go-to I would say
00:04especially for last Epoch when it comes
00:06to having a solid understanding of just
00:09class performance how each class is
00:13supposed to be played what things to
00:15look out for guidelines if you will what
00:18Max roll can't help you with is the
00:21gearing process though and the reason
00:22why is because in last Depo there are
00:25too many random variables involved if I
00:28take a look at my gear here here you're
00:30going to see this Katana of acid it has
00:33melee damage Critical Strike multiplier
00:36here as the a excuse me the implicits
00:39that's built into the weapon to the
00:41katana all katanas are going all
00:43one-handed katanas are going to be melee
00:45damage Critical Strike multiplier that's
00:47what you see at the very top that's what
00:48we call implicits in this game then you
00:50have your prefixes and suffixes we just
00:52call these affixes that's a little bit
00:54more specific and those four axes right
00:57there these things are always changing
00:59of course the lits are changing with the
01:01type of item that you get uh a sword a
01:04katana dagger all these items are going
01:07to have different implicits but when it
01:09comes to the actual affixes they also
01:12are always changing now the issue and
01:16this extends Beyond just last Epoch is
01:19that gearing and Stat priority is not
01:25one-dimensional meaning you're not just
01:27full sending everything into damage or a
01:30defense stat and then calling it a day
01:32it's not like that in this game you need
01:35to really make sure you pick up multiple
01:39stats so for example your resistances
01:42your crit avoidance all these different
01:43things you're going to have to pick up
01:46but you can pick them up in a lot of
01:48different ways you can pick them up in
01:50your you you can pick them up in your
01:52passive tree you can pick them up in
01:54your skill trees you can pick them up in
01:56your Idols your in your gear obviously
02:02properly gear out your
02:04character and to have a better
02:07experience in time playing this game you
02:10are going to need to understand this
02:13system the basic system you're going to
02:15need to understand what stats to look
02:17out for what's important what's not
02:21important and if you can do that you're
02:23your experience will just obviously be
02:25better and your character Will Blast
02:27much more effectively essentially
02:29teaching you how to fish rather than
02:31giving you the fish itself because I
02:34assure you your experience and
02:36performance is just going to be
02:38drastically better if you understand
02:40what I'm about to tell you it certainly
02:43did for me as I just recently competed
02:47in the race to level 100 hardcore solo
02:50self found I was able to finish as the
02:54number one ranked play dancer overall
02:57fourth across the entire tournament and
03:00I only had a week PRI just over a week
03:03prior to the launch to really learn this
03:05game so obviously there was a there's a
03:08big learning curve for me and that
03:10extended through the actual event itself
03:14I had to really be careful with how I
03:16was gearing my character because when
03:17you do hardcore especially during a race
03:20you're trying to move as fast as
03:21possible but you also need to be geared
03:24properly otherwise you might get one
03:26shot and the biggest thing that I
03:28learned from that was
03:30that there is no one way and if you
03:33really want to minmax your character
03:34you're going to have to minmax based off
03:36of what you have because you can't sit
03:39there and Speck around a Chase item that
03:42may never come for the first 100 Levels
03:46uniques uh throughout my throughout 99%
03:50of my journey straight up like I don't I
03:52didn't get this smoke Weaver I did this
03:55is this smoke Weaver is the only unique
03:56that I Ed in my build and I didn't even
04:00I I'd have to double check but maybe my
04:02last couple of levels okay so you need
04:05to make do with what you have and that's
04:07what we're going to be talking about
04:08here now I am going to try and keep this
04:10as general as possible so everything I
04:12tell you in this video is essentially
04:14going to be the general rule of thumb
04:17for all classes and we're going to start
04:19with damage first you have added damage
04:22and increased damage so essentially flat
04:24damage or added damage and then you have
04:27increased damage which is going to come
04:28in the in a percentage form so you can
04:30see here 81% increased melee this is
04:33plus 9 flat throwing damage most people
04:36are going to tell you that the flat
04:37damage is prioritized simply because of
04:41how damage is calculated in this game
04:43you have flat damage and that gets
04:45multiplied to your increased damage uh
04:49so obviously if I have 81% melee damage
04:53here let's say I have another piece that
04:54gives me 19% increased melee damage
04:57that's going to be 100% that's mult
04:59multiply by the base damage this is
05:01throwing so let's just pretend this plus
05:039 melee damage plus 9 melee damage gets
05:07added up together let's say I have plus
05:099 here and then another plus 11 melee
05:12damage somewhere else that's plus 20
05:13melee damage again just pretended I know
05:15it says throwing pretend it's it says
05:17melee uh then that's going to be 20 so
05:20that 20 then gets multiplied to all of
05:23the other um increased damage
05:27multipliers that are within the same
05:29bucket so um if you understand how
05:33damage formulas work in args in general
05:35you'll already know what I'm talking
05:36about if you don't and you you don't
05:38really care don't worry about it flat
05:40damage typically better than uh
05:42increased damage and I say typically
05:44because it will to a certain degree
05:46depend on your build and what uh stats
05:50that you have access to for example if
05:52my increased damage as you can see here
05:56with throwing damage is a relatively low
06:00and I have a lot of flat damage across
06:04multipliers uh or my bucket multipliers
06:07are relatively low then there are
06:10instances where you definitely do want
06:12to increase or prioritize The increased
06:15damage over flat damage there can be
06:17instances like that I I don't know how
06:19many of those exist simply because I've
06:21only played blade dancer but I'm just
06:24mathematically logically thinking that
06:27can certainly be the case so just keep
06:29that in mind general rule of thumb
06:30though stack That Base damage as much as
06:33possible both stats are are very very
06:36important another offensive stat that
06:37you want to look out for are your skill
06:39specific uh affixes in my case with this
06:42class is physical penetration with
06:44Shadow daggers this is not going to be
06:47the same for every single class Shadow
06:49daggers is what my G what my build is
06:52designed around and this happens to be
06:54the AIX that is or the AIX or effect
06:58that is in the the game for shadow
07:00daggers so this is obviously also class
07:03specific check to see which class
07:05specific aics is available and in my
07:07case these affixes are available only on
07:10the helmet slot and the chest slot as
07:13well as your Idols so obviously I'm
07:17going to want to prioritize having this
07:20specific AIX on these two pieces of gear
07:24speaking of penetration you also have
07:27stats like penetration and Shred I could
07:30try and look it up here which are also
07:32very valuable offensive stats as you can
07:35see this item gives me a 16% chance to
07:37shred armor on melee hit I also have a
07:40174% chance to shred on melee hit on my
07:42currently equipped Katana this is
07:45another really good offensive stat that
07:46you want to look out for and the last
07:49stat that you want to look out for for
07:51sure is the Critical Strike multiplier
07:54and of course crit crit chance
07:56personally for me I don't stack crit
07:58because I build around Shadow daggers
08:01Shadow daggers is a guaranteed crit so
08:03obviously if you have a skill that has
08:05guaranteed crit or if you can pick up
08:07crit uh in your skill tree or in other
08:09areas if it's assuming that that is
08:12efficient uh you would if you can do
08:14that you wouldn't obviously spec into
08:16crit if you can't you obviously want
08:18crit crit multiplier crit strike
08:20multiplier is just crit damage that's
08:22what it is you definitely want to Stack
08:24this because it's within its own damage
08:26bucket it's going to be multiplicative
08:28to all other damage formulas so you want
08:31to try and stack this as much as
08:33possible and that's pretty much it so
08:36when it comes to damage you have your uh
08:39you have your flat damage and increased
08:41damage you have your uh skill damage
08:46whatever that may be in my case it's uh
08:48skill physical penetration with Shadow
08:50daggers I've got that I've got my shred
08:53SL pen penetration stats and finally I
08:57have Critical Strike multip crit SL crit
09:00damage okay not in any particular order
09:04but those are those are the five damage
09:07aices that I would certainly look out
09:09for and continue to try and stack next
09:12we're going to be talking about the
09:14defenses and this is where it gets a
09:16little bit more convoluted especially if
09:18you're playing hardcore because this is
09:20the area that you you really want to
09:22actually prioritize in and all the stats
09:26that I'm about to tell you are stats
09:28that you can obviously get in your gear
09:30as axes but you could also get them in
09:33other areas too starting with the
09:35resistances resistances hands down you
09:38got to have them all at 75% across the
09:40board unless you're absolutely sure
09:43you're only going to stay in a specific
09:46monolith and you're absolutely sure that
09:49that monolith doesn't contain any mobs
09:51that deal let's say light any
09:54threatening mobs I should say that
09:55contains let's say lightning damage so
09:57then is it okay to not stack this sure
10:00but you better make sure that there are
10:03no lightning and I don't know if that's
10:05possible because it seems like every
10:07monolith there certainly are mobs that
10:10are more consistent to a certain element
10:13but I think there's still a certain
10:15level of RNG pitting you against all the
10:19damage types but for example the
10:21monolith that I was pushing for hardcore
10:23it was primarily void damage and I
10:25wanted to stack not only stack it at 75%
10:29but as someone that plays hardcore I
10:30wanted to overstack it because there is
10:32something called penetration and I
10:34believe mobs can have a maximum uh mobs
10:37or bosses enemies can have up to 15%
10:42penetration which is why I overcapped it
10:44uh past 75 but General generally you
10:47just want to get this at least to 75
10:49across the board and this itself is
10:51going to be probably one of the
10:54biggest I don't want to say issues but
10:57variables that you're going to just have
10:59to deal with throughout the entire
11:01campaign simply because these are
11:03constantly changing you can get them as
11:05implicits this gives me cold resistance
11:07as an implicit I can get them as uh I
11:10can have elemental resistance which
11:12gives me fire lightning and cold those
11:14three right that would be obviously
11:17better than just 24% fire resistance cuz
11:20this gives me resistance across the
11:22board with that generally lower though
11:25um and you could also get poison through
11:29stat so there's a lot to this and I'm
11:32not going to sit here and tell you
11:33exactly where to pick up each individual
11:36stat just know that they're mainly
11:39coming from your affixes or implicits
11:43and they're coming from your Idols okay
11:46as you can see here I've picked up 16%
11:49void resistance here to make sure I've
11:51got that they also come from come from
11:53your blessings which are Buffs that you
11:55unlock after completing a uh after
11:59completing a monolith and as you can see
12:01with this one I get 28% lightning
12:03resistance here so resistances really
12:07really important you want to make sure
12:08you've got all these at 75% if you
12:11replace a piece of gear simply because
12:14let's say I let's say I get this item
12:16this item right here and I'm like
12:19hey I got a better piece of I I got
12:22better boots than I replace this with
12:24then I've got to sit here and consider
12:26am I when it comes to the the the
12:29resistances can I afford to lose 14%
12:32Elemental resistance in this case it
12:34will put me at 74 with fire not bad
12:37lightning 73 not bad cold ooh 54% I'm
12:41going to have to pick up 20% cold resist
12:44from somewhere maybe it needs to be in
12:46my Idols maybe it needs to be in my belt
12:49whatever it may be I need to pick that
12:51up so I may not want to upgrade into my
12:54next pair of boots until I know I can
12:56pick that up or unless I absolutely know
12:59I'm not fighting anything that has cold
13:02damage resistance is really important
13:04the next thing that you really want to
13:05prioritize is your health there's a few
13:08different Health stats as you can see
13:10here we'll go back to this one you have
13:12the plus 15 Health that's flat health
13:15and you also have a percentage Health 3%
13:17increase and then in this case you have
13:20a combination of the two the combination
13:22of the two is called hybrid Health that
13:24is hands down the best health stat that
13:26you can get however those are are very
13:29rare So essentially flat Health
13:32percentage health and then both
13:34obviously both being better uh
13:36percentage Health scales better so you
13:39want to prioritize the percentage Health
13:41here health is really really really
13:43really important so you want to go
13:45percentage flat and you could also pick
13:48up these in your Idols generally most
13:51classes are picking up as much health in
13:54their Idols as possible as you can see
13:56I've gone percentage Health as the main
13:58priority on almost every single piece I
14:01had to give up some health here simply
14:03because I needed void resistance which
14:08prioritize the void resistance excuse me
14:12Health a little bit more on my affixes
14:14here now if I didn't have sorry if I
14:20didn't have these void
14:22resistance idols and I had more Health
14:25Idols can I just use the health idols
14:27and pick up the void
14:31resist um from my affixes instead of
14:35Health yes you can don't be set on I
14:39have to get my res my my health from my
14:42Idols my my my resistances from Idols
14:45you don't need to be set on that you're
14:47always going to just adapt based off of
14:49what you currently have next we have
14:52armor Dodge block Ward I'm just going to
14:56categorize this as it's in its own
14:59section here under additional defenses
15:02Ward is a little bit more in line with
15:04health because it's essentially your
15:05Shield but the other stats really depend
15:08on outside of armor of course it really
15:10depends on your your class your build my
15:13build my class I have a lot of
15:16survivability from Dodge when I put my
15:18smoke bomb up I have this goes up to
15:20like be something like 60 or like
15:23somewhere around 60% I can't remember
15:25exactly I have to double check but I
15:27have a lot of Dodge and there are
15:29diminishing returns to some of these
15:32stats for example Dodge and armor but
15:34again keep in mind ignore Dodge ignore
15:38armor or penetration rather as they call
15:40it in this game so keep that in mind as
15:42well these are also stats that you
15:44definitely want to prioritize armor for
15:47every class and then Dodge
15:50Ward um block whatever that may be
15:53depending on the class that you're
15:55playing the last two stats that I want
15:57to mention is your endurance and your
16:00glancing that is right here and that is
16:05right here chance to receive glancing
16:06blow endurance is how much damage
16:09reduction you get once you get to a
16:11certain threshold I think default is
16:13around 30% it say says right here for
16:16example if you have 50% endurance at an
16:19at a at an endurance threshold of 11 of
16:22100 all damage dealt to you for your
16:25last 100 health will be reduced by 50%
16:27pretty self-explanatory that also
16:29includes one shot mechanics so if I have
16:30100 health and I take 100
16:33damage um and let's say it's my last 30%
16:37at 30 health for my last 30 health I'm
16:41going to take 15 damage 50% damage
16:44reduction assuming my endurance is at
16:4650% in this case Okay the endurance
16:49threshold is what raises that bar I
16:52believe the base is the default base is
16:5530% of your HP pull and that goes up as
16:58you add stats to it for me as a hardcore
17:00player I actually put a little bit more
17:03pryo into this endurance uh and
17:06endurance threshold as you can see this
17:09helmet here I have 129 endurance
17:12threshold that raises that bar up a
17:14little bit more and this gives me a much
17:17tankier character because now I have
17:21almost half of my HP
17:23bar taking I'm I'm taking 55% less
17:27damage for almost half my HP part that
17:29makes me just a lot tankier right so um
17:33endurance I think is also very important
17:36um when it comes to especially hardcore
17:39pushes and glancing blow as well this is
17:43something that I have a lot of access to
17:46specifically as a rogue I don't I'm not
17:48sure about other classes however
17:50glancing blow gives me a chance to just
17:52take a flat 35% less damage and as you
17:55have these flat damage reduction
17:57multipliers being added it really helps
18:00your overall survivability quite a bit
18:02quite a bit so this is also something I
18:04would look out for however this is also
18:06a stat glancing blow specifically that I
18:09wouldn't really re I don't even actually
18:10it's I I don't believe it's an actual
18:12AIX that you can get um and I don't
18:16think it's an idol that you can get
18:17either from my understanding I get my
18:20glancing blow strictly from that my
18:22skill tree but you guys can double check
18:24um on that I'm I'm I'm quite certain
18:27there is no AIC for glancing blow but I
18:29do want to mention that and of course
18:31overall just flat damage reduction is
18:35going to be uh the number one overall
18:38priority and this is going to be um
18:41unique to each individual class as you
18:44can see right here this um this stat
18:49right here um here here we go evasion
18:54gives me at Max at Max evasion five out
18:56of five it gives me a flat 20% damage
18:59reduction while I'm moving and
19:00considering I'm always moving with my
19:02build this gives me 20% damage reduction
19:05across the board then I've got my 55%
19:07from endurance and these just begin to
19:10add up and of course there are uh more
19:13instances of damage reduction that you
19:15can get and that's going to vary
19:17depending on the class that you play
19:19damage reduction definitely pry oh and I
19:22almost forgot this is also extremely
19:24important your Critical Strike avoidance
19:27you can see that I have mine at
19:30105% this means I cannot be crit and
19:32there is no penetration for this so I
19:35just cannot be crit once you get to 100
19:38you don't need to stack any more of this
19:40I cannot be crit that is going to be
19:42very good if you do not want to go
19:45avoidance or if you have a piece of gear
19:47that has reduced damage from crits and
19:50give and also gives like an additional
19:53Stat or something I'm not sure if I have
19:55that with any of my gear pieces right
20:00now uh right here I have it on my boots
20:0224 armor and 8% reduced bonus damage
20:05taken from critical strikes this is
20:07obviously worthless for me outside of
20:09the 24 plus armor that I have on these
20:12boots uh simply because I cannot be crit
20:15cuz I went into crit strike avoidance
20:17but uh and I'm not going to go into why
20:19I have that piece of gear but it's this
20:21is kind of the point that I'm making
20:23with this whole video you're not going
20:24to have perfect affixes if you don't
20:26have perfect affixes you're you're going
20:28to have to make adjustments and in order
20:30to make adjustments you're going to need
20:32to understand the system right so uh
20:34crit crit strike avoidance very
20:36important the alternative to that is to
20:38stack reduced bonus damage taken from
20:41critical strikes uh which also come with
20:45added stats like like armor in this case
20:48so let's just recap this real quick you
20:49want to prioritize your resistances you
20:52can get these through your idols and
20:53blessings your health stats which you
20:57want to prioritize hybrid Health which
20:58is percentage and flat over the
21:02percentage over the flat HP you want to
21:06then also prioritize getting either uh
21:09you want to prioritize getting armor and
21:11either Dodge block Ward or all of the
21:14above depending on your build uh the
21:15next one is crit Critical Strike avoid
21:18or damage taken from crits and the last
21:21one being endurance and glancing just so
21:23you know when it comes to endurance as
21:26well most people do not actually tried
21:28to go out of their way to get those
21:31affixes uh additionally however for me
21:34going hardcore on a rogue I wanted more
21:37survivability and I F I found a lot of
21:39value in going endurance especially cuz
21:42my build I was juicing damage and it was
21:45okay for me to do so so that's going to
21:47depend on your play style but those will
21:49be those are definitely the main
21:52defensive stats to look out for when
21:54gearing your character the last section
21:57are is going to be like a miscellaneous
22:00section okay and that first one is going
22:03be leeched uh leeched damage so as you
22:07can see right here 9% of melee damage
22:09leeched as health leeching HP is a very
22:14very very good way to sustain you can
22:16leech dots which allow you to leech on
22:19each tick you can leech hits you can
22:22leech kills uh generally speaking 12
22:25Health on kill this is a worthless after
22:28you don't want to use that you don't
22:29want to prioritize that when it comes to
22:32leeching um leeching as health just
22:35based off of the damage or hits is
22:36always going to be better so uh damage
22:39leech and you can also get this in your
22:41skill tree for example in my uh or in my
22:43passive tree I have stats like for
22:46example here that gives me additional
22:48leech so you might not need as much
22:51leech this really on on your gear
22:53affixes this really depends on your
22:56class that you're playing uh but I do
22:58have it picked up in mind and leech is
23:00also like one of if not the most
23:03important or advantageous stat in the
23:05very very early game like the first 20
23:07or 30 levels or so I will say the other
23:11stat obviously movement speed this goes
23:13without saying there's a lot of damage
23:15you will be mitigating simply by moving
23:17out of the way that goes without saying
23:19also a lot of the onot mechanics is uh
23:24also a lot of the one shot mechanics
23:26come from just standing in in a
23:28telegraph right and if you can move
23:30faster you can survive better so
23:32movement speed also super super
23:34important for all classes and the last
23:37thing is your main attribute stat and
23:42you're going to see right here in the
23:43character stat sheet Vitality strength
23:45decks intelligent atement uh every class
23:48will have their damage scaled off of one
23:50of these stats in my case my damage can
23:53be scaled off of dexterity and going
23:56into dexterity it also gives me Dodge
23:58rating which I am stacking in my build
24:01as well it synergize as well I have also
24:03gone points into strength because not
24:05only does strength give me
24:07armor but excuse me um strength gives me
24:11armor but I've also put points into
24:12Vitality cuz Vitality not only gives me
24:14Health flat Health but also actually
24:17gives me poison and necrotic resistance
24:21so Elemental resistance physical void
24:24and then poison and necrotic excuse me
24:26you can pick up through Vitality as well
24:29and I can also pick up some poison
24:32through my uh passives right here excuse
24:35me uh this passive right here gives me
24:37Dodge rating and 5% poison resistance
24:41per and as you can see I've gone seven
24:43points into this and this is something
24:45that Max roll I believe did not
24:47recommend me doing well they didn't
24:49deliberately say don't do this but they
24:52didn't have this in their build simply
24:54because there are better options but
24:57given my gear setup with what I have
25:01available to me and I'm not in a
25:03position where I can die I simply did
25:06not have enough poison resistance to get
25:08to that cap so I picked up additional
25:10poison resistance 5% per I Believe by
25:14investing into this tree right here so I
25:17was able to do this simply because I
25:19have a better I have a better
25:20understanding with of of the stat
25:23priority right so it's I'm not throwing
25:27by putting points into this Max roll is
25:30also not wrong for not recommending this
25:33stat point the reality is I want to
25:36reach certain benchmarks which is
25:3875% and I'm losing poison resistance
25:41somewhere else let's say on maxell's
25:43website they're getting 75% poison
25:45resistance but if they're getting in an
25:47it if they are getting that in an AIC
25:50somewhere that's an additional AIX that
25:53I'm putting towards something else so
25:56there really is no perfect right or
25:58wrong way because everything is
26:01just there's just so many variables
26:03right outside of that the only two other
26:05stats that are notable and these two
26:08really depend on the build would be Mana
26:12recovery and cooldown Recovery obviously
26:14if I'm just dealing damage via umbrell
26:17blades and there's nothing else then I
26:20don't really need to spec into cooldown
26:22recovery umbral blades synchronized
26:25strike yes is it going to help with
26:27smoke bomb and shift my movement of
26:29course it will but damage Wise It's not
26:31going to really help versus some other
26:33classes it will really help especially
26:35like let's say Falconer where you have
26:38coold Downs on your Falcon skills right
26:40so that's something to consider another
26:42thing to consider is how Mana deprived
26:43you are umbrell blades doesn't cost any
26:45Mana six is nothing synchronized strike
26:48cost 77 it's a lot but this is also a
26:51lot of damage so in my build
26:52specifically I want Mana regen as you
26:55can see I get 16% increased Mana Reg
26:57regen from this uh from this Relic here
26:59so Mana recovery cool down recovery
27:02these two stats are also very important
27:05uh but it's not a g it's not a stat that
27:08every class needs to be taken taking but
27:11some classes definitely need to make it
27:13a priority so when it comes to the other
27:16stats that you need to look out for
27:18leech your main attribute stat movement
27:21speed and Mana recovery SL cooldown
27:26recovery let me know what you guys think
