00:02legs and a disproportionately long torso
00:05which means I have mastered the art of
00:07not making my alien proportions visible
00:10to the masses and today I would like to
00:12share a few tips with you that I've
00:13learned along the way whether you two
00:15have short legs or you're just short or
00:17you just want to look a little bit
00:19taller this video is for you disclaimer
00:21the following are tips and tricks to
00:23visually elongate your legs but you do
00:25not need to follow any of these top
00:27secret hacks if you don't want to as a
00:29short guy myself I sometimes break these
00:31rules because I might just like the
00:33silhouette of an outfit and feel
00:35confident in it wear what you want to
00:36wear with that said if you want a little
00:38boost in making your legs appear not a
00:41short feel free to follow along first of
00:44all avoid low-rise pants when tucking in
00:46your shirts here's why in every outfit
00:48there is an imaginary line that gets
00:51created between the top and bottom half
00:53of your outfit let's give it a name
00:54let's call it the equator line the lower
00:57the equator line the shorter your legs
00:59will look and the higher the equator
01:01line the longer your legs will look so
01:03instead of low rise pants go for
01:05mid-rise or high rise pants which will
01:07visually elongate your legs the good
01:09thing is low rise is not the most trendy
01:12silhouette nowadays so if you shop at
01:14any of these High Street stores you will
01:16more often than not encounter mid-rise
01:18or higher rise pants
01:21tip number two avoid belts belts will
01:24draw attention to that equator line and
01:26create even more separation between your
01:28top and bottom half which is the
01:30opposite of what we're trying to achieve
01:31here you're better off avoiding belts
01:33entirely but with that said even I don't
01:36own a belt and have to admit that
01:38sometimes they do look great and can
01:40improve an outfit so if you're a fan of
01:42belts or if you simply must wear one go
01:44for one that is on the Slimmer side
01:46rather than a big chunky one
01:49next you want to avoid big contrast and
01:51color between your top and bottom half
01:53minimalists are gonna love this one so
01:55instead of this you want to go for this
01:57instead of this try this and instead of
02:00this you get the gist of it the
02:02objective here is to vertically
02:03streamline the Silhouettes of your
02:05outfit getting rid of all the
02:07unnecessary clutter and enabling the eye
02:09to naturally scan the outfits from top
02:12to bottom and back to top in one smooth
02:14motion with no visual obstacles drawing
02:16attention to one particular area Okay
02:19the next three tips are All About Pets
02:22tip number four avoid baggy pants and
02:25all its other denominations wide relaxed
02:28loose fits Etc I know this might be a
02:30tough one to hear I'm a big fan of the
02:32more relaxed oversized Silhouettes
02:34myself and I definitely own my fair
02:36share of wider fitting trousers but it
02:39is true that these Silhouettes will make
02:41you look shorter but then again that's
02:42why I made that disclaimer in the
02:44beginning if there is something you love
02:45wearing like me with wider fitting pants
02:47and you don't care that it might
02:49visually diminish the perceived length
02:52of your body then just rock it wear what
02:54you want to wear but if you do want to
02:56be mindful of it and you're not
02:57particularly a fan of baggy pants then
03:01number five cropped pants another one
03:05that you want to avoid this can be
03:06another tough one for some of you I used
03:08to love wearing cropped trousers myself
03:10but having your pants finished at ankle
03:13height will make your legs appear even
03:15shorter than they are ideally you want
03:16your pants to end add the shoe anywhere
03:19from a no break to a full break one
03:21important thing to note though is that
03:23this does not apply if you are wearing
03:25boots because what really makes your
03:27legs seem shorter is that visual
03:29separation created between the bottom of
03:32your pants and the top of the shoe which
03:34does not happen if you're wearing boots
03:35in fact a black boot with some tapered
03:38cropped trousers is actually a great
03:40combo that will visually elongate your
03:42lower half before we move on to tip
03:45number six I would like to thank the

05:12tip number six avoid excessive stacking
05:15on the shoe you don't want to add all of
05:17that unnecessary weight and bulk to the
05:20very bottom of your outfit remember the
05:22goal is to streamline and keep the eye
05:24traveling upward anywhere up to a full
05:27break is completely fine you just want
05:29to avoid stacks on stacks of fabric
05:31bunching up on top of your shoe which
05:33will weigh down your look and make you
05:35look shorter tip number seven is not
05:37something that I've seen people talk
05:39about before but from personal
05:40experience as a short leg man I have
05:43found that mid-length jackets and coats
05:45do me absolutely no favors I'm talking
05:48about pea coats short overcoats really
05:51any outer layer that ends around mid to
05:53upper thigh just makes my legs look tiny
05:56instead I would suggest going for either
05:58a short jacket or a long coat The Sweet
06:01Spot for a short jacket is for it to end
06:03roughly at around your hips although you
06:05could go even shorter above your hips
06:07for more of a cropped look playing on
06:10the two third one-third rule which will
06:12really elongate your legs it is a bit
06:14more fashion forward so it might not be
06:16for everybody but it will definitely
06:18make your legs look longer than they are
06:19the alternative to the short jacket is a
06:22long coat but an actual long one not
06:24some half-assed mid thigh BS you want
06:27the coats to end around knee level and
06:29you want to be careful not to go too
06:30long or not too short because if you go
06:33too long it's just gonna swallow you
06:34whole and you'll look like a toddler
06:36boring your dad's coat if you go too
06:38short on the other hand you'll get to
06:39that awkward mid thigh length that
06:41messes up the proportions of your
06:43outfits so keep it balanced around knee
06:45level these seven tips will help
06:47visually elongate your legs but don't
06:49feel like you need to do all seven of
06:51these all the time with every outfit
06:53keep them in mind as guidelines mental
06:55notes to help you dress in a flattering
06:57way for your body shape but on the same
06:59token feel free to disregard these tips
