00:02and today I'm going to talk about

00:03product photography if you're just

00:06recently opening a shop chances are

00:07you're trying to keep costs low and you

00:09may not want to invest in an HD camera

00:11like a DSLR or something like that so

00:14today I'm going to show you the basics

00:17when it comes to product photography and

00:18how you can get great photos for your

00:20online shop using just your iPhone ok so

00:25the first and most important thing that

00:27you have to consider is lighting you

00:29want to have indirect light which means

00:31that there is light outside next to

00:33where you're shooting but not shining

00:35directly onto your surface which causes

00:37light spots and shadows let's start by

00:40shooting a flat item I'm going to

00:42shooting a little card from my shop what

00:45I like to do is just lay down a large

00:47white sheet of paper if you're shooting

00:49something white you might want to use a

00:50darker color so that it's more

00:51noticeable but it depends on the color

00:54of your item when you're shooting

00:56something flat like this you just want

00:58to simply take a picture from directly

01:00overhead with no angle and that'll just

01:02give you a very basic shot and then you

01:05want to also take an angled picture so

01:07that you can show off the detail okay so

01:11that was pretty easy let's move on to

01:13shooting a 3-dimensional item what I do

01:16is I take the same sheet of paper and I

01:18just curve it up against the wall and

01:20tape it so that it doesn't slip and this

01:22bend of paper keeps all of the focus on

01:24the item you're shooting because it's

01:25blank and there aren't any sharp lines

01:27in the background like there would be if

01:28you were shooting on the edge of a table

01:30or something and then I just place the

01:32item in the center and again you want to

01:34make sure that you have that indirect

01:35light coming from the side

01:46especially with three-dimensional items

01:48you want to make sure that you shoot the

01:50item from all angles and also include

01:52little detail shots make sure that the

01:58product is in focus by clicking on your

02:00screen until you see a yellow square

02:03once I'm done shooting I like to upload

02:06the pictures to my computer and then I

02:07use Photoshop but you can use any photo

02:09editor and you just want to increase the

02:11brightness slightly and it makes a big

02:13difference it makes your image really
