00:01this is what I'm calling the Macintosh
00:03Studio it's an iPad Mini do on a Mac
00:06Studio with a few built-in features and
00:09uh here's why I made it one the Mac
00:13Studio takes up a lot of room on my desk
00:15it's really designed to sit under your
00:17monitor but I already have enough stuff
00:19under my monitor so this thing is just
00:21getting pretty annoying two completely
00:23unrelated but I've been wanting a dock
00:25for my iPad Mini currently I don't have
00:27it plugged in so whenever I need to use
00:29it its batteries are dead I also don't
00:32love the fact that since it's a portable
00:34device it's completely underutilized
00:36when I'm at my desk so ideally I can use
00:38it as a small external monitor instead
00:41of it just sitting there all the time
00:42and three weirdly enough the iPad Mini
00:45is the exact same width as the Mac studi
00:47so it's like they were destined to be
00:49brought together now what's hard about
00:51this project is really how bulky this
00:53thing is this thing is thick so I'm
00:56actually going to be taking inspiration
00:58from another very bulky design from
01:00Apple the first ever Mac they made one
01:02of my favorite classic designs the 1984
01:08Macintosh hello I am
01:10Macintosh Macintosh the computer for the
01:13rest of us Macintosh the Apple Macintosh
01:20brainstorm all right let's take a look
01:22so of course the iPad will be where this
01:23screen is and the Max studio will make
01:25up most of its base but then we have all
01:27this extra body and I don't want all
01:29that to to just be decorative so let's
01:31see what we can do with that
01:35space maybe the back opens and I can
01:37store pens in other stationary inside
01:40but then you'd have to open it just to
01:42pen maybe there's slits down the body of
01:45this thing so it can hold paper and
01:47letters I don't really get letters what
01:50else could it hold what if there's cup
01:51holders big enough for Stanley tumblers
01:53even no I like the idea of it holding
01:55other things on my desk though timer
01:57charger what about my speakers or maybe
02:00it can help organize other Tech
02:01accessories like like maybe my
02:03headphones maybe it can hold my
02:05headphones or what are other things it
02:07can hold maybe external storage for my
02:10Mac Studio or maybe a whole raid system
02:13for all my hard drives and backup files
02:16probably won't fit what if the front had
02:18a removable magnetic plate that way I
02:20can have different plate designs that
02:21are interchangeable and they can work
02:23with different iPad models uh that's a
02:25bit much let's just start 3D
03:46now my iPad can be used as an external
03:48monitor while staying fully charged and
03:50with this mini monitor in my peripherals
03:52it's great for putting on YouTube videos
03:54controlling Spotify when I'm working or
03:57for drawing up quick things with the
04:01when I want to remove the iPad the
04:03bottom has an ejection button and it can
04:06also be used to lower the iPad in gently
04:09on the side there's a built-in holder
04:12for my headphones and the back drawer
04:14can be used for storing external ssds I
04:17also made another drawer design for
04:19holding my old hard drive so now I can
04:22keep all my old project backups easily
04:24accessible I couldn't help myself but
04:27also take a little bit of inspiration
04:28from the old color ful iMac g3s and
04:31print one of these in color too I still
04:33prefer the white for this but the color
04:35does contrast the cold aluminum pretty
04:38well and I can imagine this looking
04:39pretty good in other colors now because
04:42this stand design fits over the Mac
04:44Studio and the Mac Studio actually has
04:46the same top Dimensions as the Mac Mini
04:48it means this design can be easily
04:50tweaked to work with the Mac Mini I
04:52still need to figure out how the iPad
04:54ejection button and the other features
04:56will work with a smaller form factor but
04:58it should be pretty straightforward to
04:59to tweak the design so if you guys are
05:01interested in the version of this for
05:03the Mac Mini let me know in the comments
05:05but in the meantime if you want to 3D
05:07print your own Macintosh Studio or
05:09modify this design for your own needs
05:11check out my membership below to access
05:13all the project files I just launched
05:15this membership and I'll be sharing all
05:17my project files there from now on
05:20including the files for past projects
05:22like the 3D printed draw organizers that
05:24a lot of you guys have been asking for
05:26those will be up next month they're
05:28almost ready I just got to clean up the
05:29files a bit before they're ready to be
05:31shared but if you join today you'll also
05:33get access to exclusive design and 3D
05:36modeling tutorials let's design a
05:38customized drawer for the Macintosh
05:39Studio let's design some custom drawer
05:42organizers starting with this module for
05:44holding your SD cards at USB director's
05:47commentary for this video will also be
05:49up soon tap the join button below to
05:51learn more about my membership but uh
05:54yeah some of you guys might remember
05:55this but I've actually been sitting on
05:57this Macintosh Studio idea since the
05:59portable Mac Mini video and it's just
06:01one of those projects that I had to
06:03materialize in order to move on because
06:05it's been on my mind for way too long
06:07but how perfect is it that I would get
06:10this done finally this year because this
06:12year also happens to be the 40th
06:14anniversary of the original Macintosh
06:17sadly this isn't actually the original
06:19this is the um the classic 2 which was
06:22the only one I could get my hands on but
06:24fun fact about the original model Steve
06:26Jobs saw the original Macintosh like it
06:27was an art piece so if you P it open you
06:30can actually find the original team
06:32members names as well as his own
06:34embossed into the enclosure pretty cool
06:37right so I meant to put this video out
06:40sooner but I'm actually in the process
06:42of moving apartments right now so it's
06:44been pretty busy but uh you know this
06:46was a heavily requested project in the
06:48comments so I hope you guys enjoyed it
06:50because I really enjoyed designing this
06:52thing and putting the video together
06:54using the new 3D printer and everything
06:56my next video will probably be for my
06:58new apartment and so so I hope I'll see
07:00you guys there I already started working
07:02on the script for that video and I'm
07:03pretty excit it's it's actually been
07:05like 10 years in the making and it's
07:07this you know what actually no spoilers
07:10that's all I'll say for now I hope I'll
07:12see you guys there so yeah thanks for
