00:35and see what we can find man oh and I
00:36can't forget at the very end of this
00:38video we are going to be announcing the
00:39winner of the giveaway which I will be

01:03so I wouldn't even know where they would

03:50behind us antique mall and then there's
03:53going to be a thrift store down the
03:54street that we're going to check out as
03:55well so let's see let's see what they
04:03people are happy when they come and get
04:05something from their childhood so I got
04:08off I love the DVDs and VHS and all that
04:21buck all right so this antique store
04:23actually looks really promising because
04:26I just walked past a rly cord check that
04:28out right there you guys guys rly cord
04:30in beautiful condition got the bag with
04:33it too they're asking 500 bucks for it I
04:36don't know if you guys can see it right
04:37in there so I'm going to skip on that
04:39one for now but if you were looking for
04:41like a rly cord camera they got one here
04:43and it looks like it's in good shape so
04:45let's explore this place cuz it's
04:47actually really really big and uh
04:49hopefully we can find something really

05:03first and foremost I don't know how to
05:04shoot with them but just taking a look
05:06at it it's so pretty so many so many
05:10here and really kind of the goal is to
05:13find something special today it's not
05:14really my typical Thrift video where I'm
05:16just like out buying random gear I
05:18really want to see if I can find
05:19something very unique and very special
05:21and that's why I'm also hitting the
05:22antique shops cuz I know a lot of times
05:25they take a little bit extra care with
05:26their stuff and most of the time that's
05:28where you find all the colle pieces as
05:32this really really beautiful old school

10:38into a motivational speech right now I'm
10:40telling you I don't even know how to
10:43comprehend what just happened I really
10:45didn't think this was real this is the
10:48craziest Thrift find of all time and I
10:51am freaking shaking right now
11:21all right so it is currently July 19th a
11:23month and a half after filming that
11:25Thrift video I filmed that Thrift video
11:27between June 3rd and June 5th and it
11:30took me this long because of a couple of
11:31different reasons first and foremost I
11:34thought it was too good to be true and
11:36just from my experience when things seem
11:39too good to be true it's probably
11:41because they are right uh my immediate
11:44suspicion was hey these are probably
11:47stolen and you know I don't think it was
11:50a bad thing for me to purchase them but
11:51I would at least like to do the work
11:53maybe figure out who they belong to and
11:56return them to the respective owner and
11:58as a result I kind of went crazy and
12:00went down this huge Rabbit Hole I
12:02started calling different camera stores
12:04I started you know looking up serial
12:06numbers on websites checking to see if
12:08um there was a Leica M3 with the same
12:10serial number that was reported stolen I
12:12went through every single Facebook post
12:15that could possibly be done um and you
12:18know for about a month and a half I
12:20continuously searched and it wasn't
12:22until last week after confiding with a
12:24couple of my close peers and you know
12:26really trying to figure out if this
12:28camera gear was stolen we came to a
12:30conclusion and folks I take this stuff
12:33very serious because I've had gear
12:34stolen from me in the past I've had gear
12:36stolen from my friends in the past and
12:38it's just not a good feeling you know
12:39within the community I wouldn't want
12:41this to happen to anybody so with that
12:43said through the month and a half of
12:45research that we have done I found zero
12:48hits on the serial number and originally
12:49my plan was to post up on my story like
12:51hey is anybody missing this Leica
12:53including the serial number but a lot of
12:55my buddies told me you know if you do
12:56that there are going to be people out
12:58there who are probably going to say like
12:59oh that was mine uh that was my serial
13:01number Etc so you know I did not follow
13:04that process or that practice I look
13:06through every Facebook post I looked
13:08through the Leica classifi looked
13:10through different forums and I could not
13:11find a hit on the Leica M3 on top of
13:14that there are a couple of indicators
13:16that this camera hasn't been shot for a
13:19very very long time and I'm talking like
13:22probably 10 20 plus years and that was
13:24the case for both the M3 as well as the
13:27riflex but also in addition to to that
13:29this M3 has an early early serial number
13:32of 800,000 it is a very early model M3
13:36and so the conclusion of it being stolen
13:39seemed very very unlikely and if it were
13:42stolen why would they drop it off at a
13:44thrift store wouldn't they just try to
13:46sell it off maybe or you know get some
13:48money out of it but regardless I believe
13:50it is highly unlikely that this camera
13:52was stolen uh just based off of the
13:54facts none of the databases pulled up
13:56any you know matching serial numbers and
13:58on top of that camera was kind of locked
14:00up at first now here is what I
14:02personally believe happened with this
14:04camera right here what I believe
14:05happened was this is probably a camera
14:07that belonged to someone that owned it
14:08their entire life one-owner type thing
14:11uh they might have gotten old and
14:14unfortunately I feel as if they have
14:16passed away and when people pass away
14:18you know there's an excess amount of
14:20stuff we all kind of have until we reach
14:23our deathbeds and at the end of
14:24everyone's life you know the material
14:26doesn't go away with the soul and I
14:28believe maybe there kids or maybe it was
14:30just like somebody that wanted to clean
14:32out the house or something like that
14:34they may have taken all of his
14:36belongings his or horse and then donated
14:38the items and you know it kind of makes
14:40sense if your father or mother was a
14:41photographer and you're the kid and you
14:43don't know anything about photography or
14:45anything like that you don't know what a
14:46like is you don't know what a riflex is
14:48it's very easy to just kind of look past
14:50it say oh some old vintage cameras dump
14:53it off at a thrift store and then you
14:55know you're out of sight completely and
14:57honestly that is what I feel like
14:59happened and really folks I feel like
15:01that is really really sad I know people
15:03don't look at cameras the way I do but
15:05to me these are some of the finest tools
15:07you could get for photography and when
15:09I'm old and I pass away I would want you
15:11know my children or my family members to
15:14keep my cameras as like a family
15:16heirloom a token of you know this is
15:18what that person used in the past and so
15:21because of this um I feel like it's a
15:24personal responsibility of mine to take
15:26care of these two cameras to never
15:29and to keep them and use them and kind
15:31of honor the past photographers Legacy
15:34you know in that month and a half time
15:35period of searching for the owner of
15:37this camera I I grown an attachment to
15:39it you know what I mean you know this is
15:41never going to leave my collection you
15:44know this is an honor to be able to get
15:46these cameras and I know the search
15:47isn't over I'm still going to be looking
15:49I'm still going to try to figure things
15:50out because ultimately my plan is if I
15:53can figure out who the camera belongs to
15:55and you know bind their family members
15:58I'd like to turn it back to them I want
16:00to give that opportunity for them to
16:02know like hey these are these aren't
16:03just you know your regular everyday old
16:05cameras you know these are pretty
16:08valuable so that's my goal you know what
16:10I mean I'm not going to sell these I'm
16:11not going to get rid of them or anything
16:13like that again I feel ultimately
16:14responsible for taking care of these
16:17things um I will be using them I will be
16:20making photographs with them but my end
16:22goal at the end of it is just to
16:24hopefully one day find the owners of it
16:26but before we go here's a quick little

16:35stroke uh didn't come with this didn't
16:37come with this just came with the camera
16:39itself leather case and that's it and a
16:42legacy of an unknown photographer so
16:46that's going to wrap it up for me in
