00:00so it's a little bit sad for me to say
00:02this but I'm no longer going to be using
00:15360 let me tell you how I got to this
00:17point 3 years ago I bought my first 3D
00:21printer okay this is going to be awesome
00:24I printed out all sorts of things which
00:26eventually led me to want to create some
00:30but there is one big problem I don't
00:34even know where to begin not knowing
00:37where to start or what software to use I
00:39did what I normally do when I can't
00:46out I went through video after video and
00:50article after article and I couldn't get
00:53a clear answer about what software was
00:56the best to use little did I know at the
00:59time there was a reason there was no
01:02clear answer even though I was
01:04frustrated I still managed to come up
01:06with a list of popular CAD options to
01:19try blender the sleeping giant this
01:23software was a Powerhouse Not only was
01:26it capable of 3D modeling but you could
01:29also an animate render and produce
01:31videos on top of that there was a
01:34plethora of plugins and tutorials to
01:37rely on if you ever ran into any
01:39problems and the best part about all
01:44free so naturally I was excited and I
01:47tried creating my first
02:07this looks absolutely
02:10horrible I spent days watching videos
02:14and practicing in blender making very
02:16little progress I even purchased a
02:19course which helped out a lot but I
02:21still found myself struggling to get the
02:23hang of it this software had one of the
02:25steepest learning curves I had ever used
02:29even beating out Photoshop so with hours
02:31of time invested I decided to cut my
02:34losses and try something
02:36else shaper 3D this software surprised
02:41me Not only was it natural and easy to
02:43use but the tutorials that the company
02:46made were fantastic I was quickly able
02:49to start designing things that didn't
02:58horrible but it wasn't all sunshine and
03:01Roses I really wanted this software to
03:03work for me but it had two massive
03:06problems I couldn't get past the first
03:09problem was the fact that it wasn't
03:11parametric at the time meaning I
03:13couldn't go back into the timeline
03:16history and easily make changes to the
03:19model I was creating that was a feature
03:21I really wanted because I didn't have
03:23the skills or confidence to only use
03:26direct modeling and the second problem
03:30look at this it's $300 a year or $38 a
03:35month which is really a shame because
03:38this software is actually pretty good
03:40they did have a free version but they
03:42limited you to only being able to work
03:44on two designs at a time and you also
03:47couldn't export highquality files which
03:50was kind of a deal breaker for me
03:52especially when the third software on
03:54this list was free and also much more
04:00a professional CAD software that many
04:02people and companies use and rely on
04:06being similar to shaper 3D I was able to
04:09pick it up quite quickly especially with
04:11the amount of free tutorials online this
04:14software was a beast at creating
04:17accurate mechanical type designs and it
04:20also had a fully parametric design
04:22history just in case you messed up and
04:24needed to make changes later on they
04:27also had a free maker license with with
04:30very few limitations so being satisfied
04:32with how Fusion 360 performed I decided
04:35to stick with it over the next few years
04:38I created lots of designs in fusion and
04:40really enjoyed it up until now I ran
04:43into two big problems once again first
04:47off the fusion hobby license only allows
04:50you to make up to $1,000 of annual
04:53revenue this was a problem because I
04:55recently started selling my designs and
04:58I'm getting close to that threshold so I
05:01will need to upgrade my account and pay
05:03for a standard license which cost well
05:12month yeah I'm not doing that I'm not
05:15making enough money to justify paying
05:17that much and that was the first nail in
05:20the coffin for Fusion 360 the second
05:23problem that was really bothering me as
05:25of late with Fusion 360 is the
05:28performance I have a very high-end
05:31computer and I'm consistently having
05:33issues with Fusion 360 lagging or just
05:36completely crashing anytime I work on a
05:40complex shape so it's not even when I'm
05:43working on designs I literally just
05:45tried to open up fusion and it it won't
05:48open I don't know what's going on it
05:51completely kills my creativity and
05:53workflow when I'm having to restart or
05:56wait for Fusion to start working again
05:58every time I make some changes to a
06:00design so this inevitably led me to look
06:03elsewhere for a software that better fit
06:06my needs plasticity the new kid on the
06:10Block I stumbled across some videos
06:12showing this software in action and I
06:14was really impressed it sort of looked
06:16like Fusion 360 and blender had a baby
06:20you are able to create dimensionally
06:22accurate designs like infusion but you
06:25still have the freedom to create more
06:27organic shapes like in blending you can
06:30even have your designs directly sync and
06:32update in blender in real time if that's
06:35something you're into I did have one
06:37problem though it wasn't parametric you
06:40can only do direct modeling which is a
06:42bit more challenging in my opinion
06:45luckily plasticity is very Dynamic and
06:47flexible so making changes further into
06:50a design is not impossible but it
06:52definitely won't be as easy as Fusion or
06:55shaper 3D the real deciding factor that
06:58won me over besides the capability of
07:00the software was the price you get
07:03access to the full version with all the
07:05features and a commercial license for
07:10$150 not $150 a year
07:14$150 total and you own the software
07:17forever granted you will only get
07:20updates for 12 months following the
07:22purchase but it does include any major
07:25releases as well the software also runs
07:28great on my computer and and I never
07:29have any issues with lagging or crashing
07:32so it's safe to say I will be sticking
07:34with plasticity for the foreseeable
07:37future it is sad to see my Journey
07:39coming to an end with Fusion 360 I spent
07:42a lot of time learning and designing
07:44things in Fusion but hopefully the team
07:47at Autodesk will fix the issues with
07:49Fusion 360 and hopefully they will lower
07:52the price as well I'm just happy there's
07:54many Alternatives nowadays so we're not
07:56just stuck with one software that being
