00:00now ACF Pro brings with it a range of
00:01additional field types that we have over
00:03the free version we're going to be
00:05checking out how to get started using
00:07the repeater field in this video so once
00:09you've installed an activated ACF Pro
00:12we're going to go into the field Group
00:13section and inside there we're going to
00:15create a new field Group for our
00:16repeater region so let's go ahead click
00:18add new we'll give this a name it's
00:21worth mentioning at this point you can
00:23set up repeater regions or repeater
00:25fields in any field Group you want they
00:27don't have to be in their own dedicated
00:29field Group so feel free to mix and
00:31match these with text and wizzywig
00:32editors all those kinds of normal things
00:34that you do so now we've given it a name
00:37it already opens up to include the first
00:39field that we want the first meta field
00:41so what we're going to do is we can
00:43either choose from the drop- down list
00:44or we can go ahead and use the browse
00:46Fields option open up the pro section
00:49and inside there that now shows us the
00:50additional fields we have access to
00:53Let's choose a repeater if you want to
00:54access the documentation or a brief
00:56overview or a tutorial you can grab that
00:58from the right hand side which just
01:00going to give this a name we're going to
01:01call this job details and say select
01:03field so now we selected that method you
01:06can see that's already filled up the
01:07field name and the field label so
01:09everything is in place if we look
01:11underneath this now opens up the
01:13subfield section the subfields allows us
01:15to do exactly as it suggests create sub
01:18fields of our repeater field so for this
01:20example we're going to create three
01:22individual fields we can mix and match
01:24these from any other options including
01:26nesting repeater Fields if you wanted to
01:28get that deep into it let's keep this
01:30relatively straightforward though let's
01:33in again we can use the browse fields or
01:35we can use the field type from here and
01:37we're going to choose text as our option
01:39we've also got the access to the
01:41validation presentation and conditional
01:43logic again so this is exactly the same
01:45as you'd see just creating a standard
01:47normal meta field it just happens to be
01:49inside the repeater field setup can I
01:53name we'll pop in company for the
01:55company that you work for again you see
01:57that prefills out the company name we
01:59don't want about any default values and
02:01we're not going to worry about things
02:02like validation presentation or
02:04conditional logic in this
02:05example let's close that down and let's
02:08go ahead and add another field in this
02:10time we're going to set this to be a
02:11wizzywig field this just allows us to
02:14get a littleit more creative with the
02:15content we can add bold italics those
02:17kinds of things field label we'll pop in
02:20his job description that will pre-fill
02:22out the field name underneath again we
02:24still have the validation and so on
02:26options and then the final one we're
02:28going to add in is the numeric field and
02:30this is going to be the salary okay you
02:32can see that pre-fills things out what
02:34we're going to do is we're going to go
02:35into the presentation part of this we're
02:36going to scroll down and we're going to
02:38say we want to append this or prepend
02:39this we're going to just say prepend
02:41we're going to put the pound sign in
02:42because I'm working in the UK okay so
02:45these the basics of our repeater field
02:48setup I'm going to come back to some of
02:50the other options once we've seen how
02:51easy it is to get this working now let

03:32a basic post type called work experience
03:34and we're going to associate this
03:35repeater field with that particular
03:37custom post type so what we're going to
03:39do is set this to be the work experience
03:42so now this Associates this particular
03:44metafield group with that custom post
03:47type now we've done everything we want
03:48we're going to click on Save changes and
03:51now if we open up our work experience
03:53section so that now displays a blank
03:55empty list for work experience we can
03:57now go and click on add new now at the
04:00moment our repeater is only showing us
04:01the titles of the relevant different
04:03metap fields if we click on ADD row that
04:06will now open everything up we can start
04:08adding in our custom information so
04:10let's say that the company was Google
04:13Inc I can draw drop my job description
04:16in and then I put my salary in I was on
04:19a big salary so we've created one job
04:23now let's go and click on ADD row and
04:25now you can see we get a duplicate so
04:27now I can add another job in so let's
04:29just save for this time I was working
04:30for Facebook we pop in a description and
04:33my salary and now I can simply carry on
04:35adding any rows that I want until I've
04:37got my entire work experience inside
04:39chip if I make a mistake and I don't
04:41want to add one in so let's add another
04:42row in and I want to remove it you can
04:44see I simply hover over the right hand
04:46side and I've got the option to remove
04:47the row I can click confirm it and now
04:50we've got rid of that additional row
04:52let's publish this and we've now created
04:55our first repeater region test now let's
04:58go ahead and take a look at some of the
04:59options are associated with this at the
05:01moment this looks a little bit messy if
05:03we hop back over into our meta Fields so
05:06let's open up our job details for
05:08example and you can see if we scroll
05:10through where we've got our repeater
05:11region or repeater field we have three
05:14different options for the layout
05:15currently we've got this set to table
05:17let's choose block and save our changes
05:20hop back over and refresh and you can
05:23see now we get a slightly different
05:24layout everything is now stacked on top
05:26of each other this already makes it a
05:28little bit easier especially if you want
05:29large amounts of content inserted in
05:32let's come back up one more time and
05:33let's go back into our job details into
05:36our repeater and set this to be a row
05:38again let's save those
05:41refresh and we have a slightly different
05:43layout again so you can customize the
05:46look and feel of this and again we can
05:47come in and if we have we know we're
05:49going to have lots and lots of items
05:51inside our repeater region we can if we
05:53want to ad page ination and we can
05:55choose how many we want per row so let's
05:57say for example 10 and once we get more
05:59than 10 inside there it'll now give us
06:01the ability to pinate through the
06:03various different sections so that's
06:04pretty cool and again you can if you
06:06want to come in and customize all the
06:08different aspects this apply validation
06:10presentation and so on so we've got full
06:13control over how everything looks and
06:15operates and again we've got the same
06:17when it comes to the options for where
06:19this is associated so you can see we can
06:21come into the presentation we can
06:22customize this let's say we want a
06:24seamless Meta Box if we have multiple
06:26meta boxes inside sh we can set up
06:28exactly where we want want this in the
06:29stacking order you kind of get the
06:31picture with what I'm talking about
06:33let's again save our changes come back
06:34over refresh and we get a slightly
06:37cleaner little bit more modern look and
06:39I would probably go for something like
06:40this now this basically covers how you
06:42can start to create your own meta Fields
06:44using ACF Pro and if you want to Output
06:47this information there are various
06:48different ways you can do it you get
06:50your hands dirty with code but chances
06:51are if you know how to do that you
06:53probably don't need this video what I
06:55would suggest is though take a look at
06:56the video I released recently on using
06:58this with bricks Builder so so no
06:59additional plugins but if you want to
07:00use Elemental or other tools various
07:03different options are out there for you
07:04to be able to Output this information
07:06once you've created it using repeater
07:08fields in ACF Pro now as always all
