00:10off-page seo that this can help you rank
00:13higher in google this can also help you
00:15get more traffic from google and this
00:18can possibly help you overcome a google
00:23and in today's episode it's a little bit
00:24more than just a profile backlink this
00:27is actually a site where you could
00:29submit other content around your
00:31backlink to make it more relevant
00:33you you can also drop more than just one
00:36backlink so you can drop several and
00:38this can help you with indexing
00:41possibly ranking this page on its own
00:45but also for traffic leaking so instead
00:49of you know requiring that you know
00:51something ranks for google or helps you
00:53rank maybe it just ranks within its own
00:55ecosystem and you get traffic that way
00:58that's traffic leaking you actually leak
01:00traffic from that platform and what i'm
01:03getting ready to show you is a great

02:24now what you should be seeing here is
02:27very easy to spell very easy to get to
02:30once you've got that in your browser
02:31you're going to go up to the upper right
02:33hand corner that says sign up
02:37once you've gotten to the sign up page
02:40standard sign up procedure you know it's
02:43going to be your email password
02:45you're going to want to not use a burner
02:48email address because you will have to
02:51i'm not going to go through the whole
02:52site sign up process it's pretty
02:55but you're going to sign up verify your
03:00and then once that happens
03:02you're going to be presented with
03:04uh basically your profile page
03:07and your profile page is going to list
03:09all of your repositories now a
03:11repository for github is basically where
03:14you store code but it can be used as a
03:19so whether that's for indexing other
03:21backlinks i'm maybe trying to rank a
03:24page maybe trying a traffic leak this is
03:26where you would do it with a repository
03:29and it's real simple you would just go
03:30up to the plus sign hit new repository
03:37and this is the page it's going to give
03:40now you want to give your repository
03:41name something that's got your keywords
03:44in it that you're either trying to rank
03:45for or traffic leak for you're going to
03:48want to make it public
03:49you're going to want to add a readme
03:52and you're basically going to create the
03:54repository now let me show you what a
03:56repository looks like that i've already
03:59built and used for marketing purposes
04:03so this is a repository normally this
04:05would have software code in it but
04:07essentially i've just dumped a bunch of
04:09helpful links into this repository and i
04:12basically called it awesome local seo
04:17now where i got this idea from was
04:19essentially when i was writing code
04:22particularly php code or ruby
04:26any of that code i always came to github
04:29to look at other people's code and some
04:31people would build these repositories
04:34that would be repositories of other code
04:36like awesome php scripts for marketing
04:40the top database scripts and
04:42repositories for sql and go
04:46so i basically thought
04:48why not build one of these but for
04:49marketing purposes and
04:52i've had this repository up since
04:542018. so nobody's coming to delete these
04:58people do find them people do
05:01star them they do go through them and
05:03bookmark them i've definitely seen
05:05traffic from it and essentially i just
05:07came up with a lot of local seo strategy
05:10tips that link to other people
05:13now i've linked to serp wu obviously
05:19companies other tools
05:22articles that have advice
05:25uh where to get link citations
05:32i mean you can see here that uh
05:34they they go to a lot of different
05:36places i didn't just blatantly
05:37self-promote myself now i'm building
05:40this resource that is this awesome
05:42resource for local seo strategy and tips
05:46i of course obviously did drop in my own
05:51but this is what you can do you can go
05:53in and create one of these repositories
05:56this is why you're going to want to give
05:57it a a good name like i did here the
06:00name of this one is awesome local seo
06:03and then you'll just fill it out like a
06:05good seo article now i've never written
06:08a full two or three thousand word
06:09article on here i've always done it as
06:12a collection a checklist a roundup
06:15places where you can get awesome seo
06:17advice and i think that's one of the
06:19reasons why these links um and this
06:21repository has stayed up i've made many
06:24of these repositories
06:26uh i've was able to add in all kinds of
06:28extra keywords that you can see here to
06:31help rank to help people find stuff now
06:36this is going to be people who are
06:40who are looking for code for seo you
06:43know maybe that's apis maybe that's
06:47maybe it's stuff for
06:49local search engine code and they do
06:52come across this and many developers are
06:54also entrepreneurs many developers are
06:57also just developers but they have
06:59insight and advice that they can give
07:01people that are either above them or if
07:03they're also entrepreneurs who code they
07:07integrate into serbwoo with our api and
07:09this is one way we can kind of get those
07:12now will this work for everybody well it
07:15just depends on the industry you're in
07:17and the niche that you're in
07:19but uh you can actually
07:23find more of these um here's one i did
07:26for keyword finder tools okay
07:28didn't put any keywords in here really
07:32but uh here's some awesome keyword
07:34finder tools and of course surplus was
07:37going to be ranked uh but we've got the
07:39google keyword tool being
07:42this keyword tool the keyword
07:45permutation generator google correlate
07:48you know i don't even know if a lot of
07:50these tools are still available but
07:51again this is another one that i've had
07:56and as you scroll down you know here are
07:57some articles uh some of these articles
08:00go back to surplus some go to other
08:01places but i made sure they were good
08:04uh i can't scroll down any more but
08:07here's a video guide here uh i wish you
08:10all could see the rest of this maybe
08:14i can do something here now it looks
08:15like i can't but i've got some uh videos
08:18from youtube and below that i've
08:19actually got some infographics uh so
08:21this is a really good resource for
08:23somebody that maybe wants to know more
08:26about keyword tools again this might be
08:28a developer this might be an
08:29entrepreneur that's going through github
08:31so that's traffic leaking but this is
08:33also a way to index some new content
08:36that maybe you have i've also seen
08:39github now not recently but i have seen
08:42github pages rank organically in google
08:44before i'm not saying that you're going
08:46to rank this page right now i have seen
08:48that prior again i've done this since
08:52so there's about four years uh of data
08:55here where i've seen these rank before
08:58but even without the ranking there is
09:00some traffic linking where you get
09:02eyeballs you get potentially buyers or
09:04users of your product if you've got a
09:07or if you do consulting so there is a
09:10way to actually you know build this
09:12backlink get some traffic from it as
09:17now for the last part of this i i hope

10:07actually stop doing these backlink
10:10because here at surplus we double down
10:13on what's working and right now what's
10:16working is are what's working in seo
10:19series each week the backlink videos
10:21have kind of fallen off so unless you
