00:01so let's go take a look at the home
00:05lab we're go downstairs so ground level
00:08is right about here so as when as we get
00:10down the stairs we'll be
00:17underground this door here goes to the
00:19secret lab so we're not going in there
00:22this is a mechanical room which has the
00:278kva uh APC symmetry UPS um that's
00:30hooked up to these panels here so power
00:32comes in uh in this panel and fed to the
00:35ups and then everything out of the UPS
00:37goes to this panel which then feeds the
00:39server racks in the room the network
00:40rack uh a couple closets on my office
00:43upstairs and then there's a little
00:45bypass switch there to bypass uh the UPS
00:48entirely all the wiring included and
00:49then there's power feed here for that
00:51bypass so if you want to bypass it to
00:52replace it easy to do those panels there
00:56have um the iot Watts which have little
00:57CT clamps through conduits and on every
01:00single circuit and all the panels in the
01:02house so you can track kilowatt usage of
01:05everything you're uh doing so UPS is
01:08humming away you can see it has a red
01:10light on it cuz of course one of the
01:11batteries is bad which every 3 years
01:14seems to happen in these
01:16apcs uh some spare switches in case
01:20bad and then we'll go over here we have
01:22a little kios monitor here that shows a
01:25couple different things so this is the
01:27rack temperature temperature outside
01:29server room tempure temperature some
01:30other things some ping time to different
01:33Services um a few weather related things
01:36and so this kiosk will OS between this
01:39and a power output display that sort of
01:41shows some information there so we're
01:43currently drawing 10.59
01:45Kow uh nine from the grids we have a
01:48little bit of solar generation although
01:49it's evening uh UPS output 3.7 kows cuz
01:52not a lot of stuff turned on yet having
01:54just finished doing some rewiring so we
01:56can see our phase AB there and then a
01:59bunch of other things um so we can use
02:00this to keep track of where all the
02:03juice is going uh so the Ser runs behind
02:06this door and it's relatively quiet out
02:08here the door is really well sealed and
02:09this is all concrete so uh you really
02:11don't hear it back there at all until
02:15door and so there we are this is the
02:18little lab we have a little monitor here
02:20that also runs a display with some
02:21proximo stats on it normally uh so we
02:24have two cabinets switches up top uh
02:28this side here is really more storage
02:30related stuff l l drives couple backup
02:33servers there's a four
02:35node uh prox box Custer there and a
02:37second twoo below that um these on are
02:40all ssds um they're for the VM storage
02:44system um Arista 10 gig switches which
02:47all these go back to the server racks
02:49and into the other servers and then this
02:51one's some more application stuff uh
02:53there are four compute servers there
02:54they're all dual Zeon half terab of RAM
02:58used for different compute jobs another
03:00VM server and some more storage and ZFS
03:03servers and then some more switches for
03:05the generic switching the White and the
03:07black go to each server and pairs for
03:09lacp and then the yellows are the ipmi
03:12ports uh and then these are fiber
03:14connected to the main rack over
03:16there uh there a little console area
03:20here this is a screen keyboard or Mouse
03:22connected to a set of kvms they connect
03:24to all 32 machines in
03:26here um and then little drawer more with
03:30the most important thing you need lots
03:32of Optics cuz you never have enough
03:34Optics uh rack here has some house
03:37wiring stuff in it so uh 10 gig core
03:41switch all these fibers go over to the
03:43rack over there some of the single mode
03:45fibers go to two other closets that are
03:47upstairs um and then a few other
03:48locations some switches pee switches for
03:50cameras and a few APS um and then up
03:53here I the auto Riders are actually
03:54running PF cents that are not on yet but
03:56will be soon weather station and of
03:59course course lasers watch out for
04:02lasers uh the back of the rack pretty
04:04simple a couple servers that are not
04:06there more desktop boxes uh the rest are
04:08all regular servers dual power supply
04:10motion configured with two sort of
04:13primary internet connections internet
04:15and then an ipmi and then two internal
04:1810 gigs going to the storage
04:20array um so pretty simple stuff here did
04:24alternating red power cables on the left
04:26and black on the right so every servers
04:28connected to each of the two Banks so
04:29those two phases uh these APC
04:33pdus uh of course switches up
04:36there and uh yeah that's sort of the
04:41it there's a little door there that's
04:44where the oal loopus live so let's leave
