00:02 2023 was a huge year for games and why
00:05 would they want to stop of course they
00:07 don't want to stop it looks a lot like
00:09 they're trying to carry that momentum
00:11 and we got a lot of big titles hitting
00:14 Us in the first half of the next year hi
00:16 folks it's Falcon and today on game
00:18 ranks the top 10 new games of the first
00:21 half of 2024 starting off with number 10
00:25 it's Tekken 8 which is a massive big old
00:28 thing it's the first hype profile
00:30 fighting game to use Unreal Engine 5 it
00:33 is the first Tekken game to use Unreal
00:36 Engine 5 and it is a hell of a look woe
00:40 Tekken 8 is technically incredi looking
00:43 but it's also a Tekken game so that
00:45 means it's probably a very good fighting
00:47 game Tekken is fun as hell like it's
00:50 since its introduction always been a
00:52 game that people love I've always come
00:55 back to Tekken whenever they release a
00:56 new one and I'm never disappointed at
00:58 least in how the game feels s and plays
01:01 sometimes maybe there's some issues
01:02 surrounding it but these are smooth
01:04 fluid fighting games that I really enjoy
01:07 and can't wait to dive back into I won't
01:10 have to wait too long either Tekken 8 is
01:12 landing on the PlayStation 5 Xbox series
01:18 26th and number nine is Persona 3 reload
01:21 as you know Falcon the game bird has
01:24 always been a big Persona fan and I'm
01:26 quite excited for a remake of Persona 3
01:30 it has been a long time since I have
01:31 played Persona 3 I mean I I did kind of
01:34 play the re-release here recently but I
01:37 didn't really beat it cuz I knew this
01:39 was on the horizon it's essentially
01:41 Persona 3 and Persona 5 quality and I'm
01:44 there it takes nothing to get me in the
01:46 door on that I mean they've really done
01:49 a lot here unfortunately it does mean
01:51 some of the content that was added after
01:54 um like the female protagonist or the
01:57 epilog chapter that stuff's not there
01:59 but but they have redone all of the
02:01 animated cutscenes and it really is like
02:04 Persona 3 at Persona 5 quality
02:06 apparently there's going to be a lot
02:08 more environmental stuff you can do too
02:09 they haven't altered any of the dialogue
02:12 or that kind of stuff but I mean come on
02:14 why wouldn't you want to play this if
02:15 you're a Persona fan or just a fan of
02:18 these kind of like weirdo goofy ass
02:21 let's talk about Society but let's do it
02:23 through the lens of a bunch of crazy
02:25 crap oh and also like you have to go to
02:28 school and crap and it's weird also I
02:31 mean everything about Persona is super
02:33 weird it's heightened to a degree where
02:35 I'm sure it probably turns some people
02:37 off but these are interesting games to
02:39 say the very least I'm excited for this
02:42 it's coming to the PlayStations the
02:44 Xboxes and PC February
02:47 2nd and number eight is alone in the
02:50 dark so what is regarded as perhaps the
02:53 progenitor of Resident Evil is being
02:56 brought back in the very same way that
02:58 Resident Evil 2 and three uh were and
03:01 were so incredibly successful in fact
03:04 the developers Pisces interactive were
03:06 brought in by THQ Nordic to in a lot of
03:10 ways attempt to replicate the successes
03:12 of those games much like those games it
03:16 takes the fixed camera tank controlled
03:19 alonein the dark and makes it into a
03:21 third person over the shoulder much more
03:24 modern experience now I'm personally
03:26 very excited for this if you want to
03:28 kind of see how it works there's a demo
03:30 out right now called Grace in the dark
03:32 it's a prologue chapter it kind of sets
03:34 you up uh with expectations as to what
03:37 this exactly is going to be I think it
03:40 really does a good job showing that this
03:42 is going to be a great remake I'm very
03:45 excited for it I think it's going to be
03:46 pretty big it's coming to PS5 Xbox
03:49 series and PC March
03:52 20th and number seven is Suicide Squad
03:55 kill the Justice League now I absolutely
03:58 want to note that this is maybe a
04:01 controversial pick but we're talking
04:02 about big games that people are going to
04:04 talk about a lot and whether this ends
04:07 up a bad live service Style game even if
04:10 it's not necessarily a live service game
04:12 by the time it comes out or if it turns
04:14 out to be very good I think people are
04:16 going to talk a lot about it I uh
04:18 obviously hope for the latter this is
04:19 the last Batman performance by Kevin
04:21 Conroy and it's it's a dark one from the
04:24 looks the game is set in the Arkham
04:26 verse however takes place in Metropolis
04:29 and all of the real big great
04:32 superheroes have been taken over by
04:34 Brainiac and it's your job to kill all
04:37 of them I like I said really do hope
04:40 that this turns out to be a good game
04:42 the idea is honestly not something we've
04:45 ever really been able to play like
04:47 superhero hunting that's that's
04:50 potentially quite good but also given
04:52 Gotham Knight and all the live service
04:55 stuff there is good reason to be
04:57 skeptical about this so good to note
04:59 great potential also potential to be a
05:02 big flop either way we're all going to
05:03 be talking about it a whole lot it's
05:05 landing on the PS5 Xbox series and PC on
05:09 2nd and number six is Skull and Bones I
05:13 I mean allegedly we're actually going to
05:15 get Skull and Bones they've been
05:17 advertising it pretty heavily I've been
05:19 seeing commercials for it this game's
05:21 been in development hell for a long ass
05:23 time this was originally developed as an
05:26 expansion for Assassin's Creed Black
05:28 Flag as a spin-off MMO called Black Flag
05:31 infinite that was way back in
05:34 2013 this project has also been a money
05:36 hole allegedly costing over 120 million
05:39 but over the last year there have been a
05:41 couple of closed betas and people have
05:43 come away from them weirdly optimistic
05:46 about the game a lot of the time this
05:47 type of thing happens over a decade and
05:50 then you know you get something like
05:52 Duke Nukem Forever but apparently people
05:54 are thinking that it's actually a pretty
05:56 fun game with a surprisingly decent
05:59 story now I can't comment as to the
06:01 validity of this information I did not
06:03 play the betas but uh I'm not as iffy
06:06 about this I mean I've seen a lot of
06:08 game footage and it looks fun I think
06:11 the reason why we all wanted this game
06:13 in the first place was because the ship
06:15 combat and black flag was quite good and
06:18 it looks quite good here now there is
06:20 bound to be some degree of confusion
06:23 because this game has existed for a very
06:25 long time and there have been a few
06:27 different ideas as to what this was
06:29 supposed to be but it looks pretty
06:31 straightforward to me from the gamep
06:32 playay and it looks pretty fun I'm
06:34 excited to give it a whirl and if it's
06:36 as fun as it looks I think that we've
06:38 got a winner skull and bones is landing
06:40 on PS5 Xbox series and PC February
06:45 16th and number five is Final Fantasy 7
06:48 rebirth disc 2 of The Final Fantasy 7
06:52 remake um if you liked the Final Fantasy
06:55 7 remake it looks like it's a much
06:57 bigger more advanced version of it for
07:00 instance the synergized mechanic is now
07:02 a part of the main battle system the
07:04 main battle system I of course gave a
07:06 lot of praise for the first time around
07:08 I'm happy they have retained it rather
07:10 than attempt some big change in that I
07:13 think it's a large part of remix
07:16 identity because it does so much in
07:19 retaining a lot of the elements of the
07:21 original turnbas system in what is more
07:23 or less an action RPG format in all
07:26 seriousness this is going to be a great
07:29 game I like what they did with the first
07:31 game I like that they kind of made it so
07:33 you don't really know what's going to
07:34 happen because this is some part of a
07:37 Time Loop in some way and I think that
07:39 that is a fun and interesting idea that
07:42 kind of toys with the idea of a remake
07:44 while also allowing us to have a remake
07:47 uh probably the most interesting events
07:49 in the entirety of the Final Fantasy 7
07:51 narrative are pretty close on the
07:53 horizon 2 so I'm just really interested
07:56 to see how this version plows through
07:58 them as especially given the idea that
08:00 things could change Final Fantasy 7
08:03 rebirth is landing on the PlayStation 5
08:08 29th and number four is home World 3 a
08:12 direct sequel that happens after the
08:15 previous two games this is a realtime
08:17 strategy game this series spans back to
08:20 1999 there was recently a remaster as
08:23 well as a prequel and that stuff did
08:26 really well and they're like you know
08:28 what let's continue that AA now this to
08:30 me seems like it may be a good idea it
08:33 may not we'll see but the game fuses the
08:36 RTS gameplay of Home world with what
08:38 they're calling a Rog likee structure so
08:41 ideally you're going to get a whole lot
08:42 of replay value out of home World 3 we
08:45 shall see exactly what that equates to
08:47 when it comes out though home World 3 is
08:50 coming to PC on March
08:53 8th and number three is Mario versus
08:56 Donkey Kong a Game Boy advaned game that
08:59 came out in 2004 and is getting the
09:01 full-blown remake treatment um I mean
09:04 Nintendo's been kind of knocking it out
09:05 of the park with uh remix of their older
09:08 games lately Mario RPG being probably
09:11 the best example of that this is a
09:13 puzzle platformer where you got a lot of
09:15 obstacles and you have to figure out how
09:16 to get past them it's a pretty hell of a
09:19 fun game I remember playing it but it's
09:21 been a long time I'm not going to lie
09:23 Mario's got to find keys to get uh
09:25 through a door and he's basically
09:27 rescuing and this is the story conceit
09:30 of all time but many Mario toys that
09:33 Donkey Kong has stolen uh this is
09:35 actually interestingly enough very much
09:38 the DNA of the original Donkey Kong game
09:41 where Mario basically had to Traverse
09:44 upward to basically stop old Donkey Kong
09:47 from stealing a a woman that's not
09:49 really the conceit of this game per se
09:52 but Mario versus Donkey Kong was a
09:55 spiritual successor to the Game Boy
09:57 Donkey Kong which kind of EXP expanded
09:59 on that original Donkey Kong and now
10:01 we're back to it on the Nintendo switch
10:04 and it looks great Mario vers Donkey
10:06 Kong is landing February
10:08 16 and number two is Rise of the Ronin
10:11 an action RPG coming to us from Team
10:13 ninja in a lot of ways is kind of a
10:16 Eastern equivalent of all of the cowboy
10:19 stories that are about the end of the
10:20 Wild West it takes place at the end of
10:23 the Ido period and essentially plops you
10:26 right into the middle of the boan war a
10:28 lot of people make a lot of comparisons
10:30 to ghost Subs suima but uh Team ninja is
10:33 also very um well known for the Neo
10:37 games and I think it shouldn't be
10:38 understated the amount of Dark Souls
10:40 influence there probably will be on this
10:42 granted there's clearly ghost of sushima
10:45 influence here but I think it's worth
10:47 noting that these are not the same game
10:50 not having the exact same kinds of
10:51 expectations I think it's going to be a
10:53 pretty good game I'm looking forward to
10:55 it keeping in mind there will probably
10:57 be a sequel to ghost sushima it does
11:00 have to be at least somewhat different
11:02 from what that will be uh but I kind of
11:04 expect them to have that figured out
11:07 having done Neo and well I'm pretty
11:09 excited for it rise of the Ronin is
11:11 coming to the PS5 on March
11:14 22nd and finally at number one it is
11:17 Dragon's Dogma 2 I mean Dragon's Dogma
11:20 was pretty misunderstood when it came
11:22 out but it grew to Major cult classic
11:25 status if you're not familiar it's an
11:27 action RPG that you got a lot of hacking
11:30 slash stuff going on you can feel a
11:32 little bit of Devil May Cry influence
11:34 but it's also its own thing for sure
11:37 it's a Capcom game so there is a fair
11:40 amount of expectation for a sequel and
11:43 the sequel drastically expands on the
11:46 first game giving us a world that's four
11:47 times the size giving us our nice
11:50 customizable Pawn system to continue the
11:53 ideas of the first game and
11:54 interestingly enough they say that it
11:56 takes place in a parallel worlds to the
11:59 the first game so uh it's not a direct
12:01 sequel it is probably very much a sort
12:05 of reset because it's been 12 years
12:07 since the original game and I would
12:09 expect that it drastically expands on a
12:11 lot of the concepts from the original
12:13 game um the team apparently was inspired
12:15 by Grand Theft Auto 5's emergent
12:18 gameplay so I'm excited to see exactly
12:20 where that goes Dragon's Dogma 2 is
12:23 landing on PlayStation 5 Xbox series and
12:26 PC March 22nd I do have a bonus game for
12:29 you the brothers A Tale of Two Sons
12:32 remake this is of course a great game
12:34 many consider it a classic at this point
12:36 but it is also kind of a a game that was
12:39 developed at a time where people weren't
12:41 really sure what they wanted from
12:42 Graphics like some of its little
12:44 cartoony some of it's reaching for not
12:46 cartoony and I think sort of unifying
12:49 the visual style and making it look much
12:51 better without making it look like not
12:54 cartoony anymore it's a good idea I'm
12:56 excited to play Brothers again I
12:58 certainly will it's landing on the PC
13:01 PS5 and Xbox series on February 28th
