00:00thank you enlisted for sponsoring this
00:01video the future of Counter Strike Team
00:08Vitality are your a league major
00:11Champions BR have won t has Liv in front
00:16of the home crowd the year 2011
00:19life-changing year in gaming for many
00:21and plenty of companies began taking
00:22notice wanting a piece of that sweet
00:24sweet gamer Revenue Timeless Classics
00:26were released such as Skyrim in Portal 2
00:29Battlefield 3 Modern Warfare 3 Gears of
00:31War 3 Uncharted 3 Lego Star Wars 3 Super
00:35Mario 3D Land Saints Row the 3 and Cars
00:382 the video game which was somehow
00:40released 3 days before Cars 2 the movie
00:42but as you and I were busy playing these
00:44games that would alter the trajectory of
00:45our lives forever one Community remained
00:47virtually unfazed through it all
00:49counter- strike you see Counter-Strike
00:51players are stubborn they always have
00:52been and way back when their
00:54stubbornness put them into a very unique
00:56situation at the time two different
00:57titles saw this community of Hardcore
00:59competitive game Gamers divided into two
01:01separate factions the tried and true
01:03original Counter-Strike 1.6 and the new
01:05and improved Counter-Strike Source you
01:07could literally tell one of these former
01:09players today which one you like and
01:10they'd still give you an incredibly
01:12structured rundown on why your
01:14preference was wrong despite these games
01:15being from the same franchise there were
01:17clear distinctions between the two aside
01:19from 1.6 looking like it could be played
01:20on an iPad Mini depending on who you ask
01:23they'd usually say that Source was buggy
01:24and unpolished a silly game not designed
01:27for True competitive play while 1.6 is
01:29outdated and clunky and that those
01:31players need to get with the times this
01:33battle between old and new had raged
01:34amongst themselves for nearly 7 years
01:36after the release of source until in
01:382011 when a third Ripple began to unfold
01:40that was about to change everything
01:42Counter Strike three well sort of this
01:44one doesn't actually count and we don't
01:46acknowledge this one and this one is not
01:47technically counter- strike 2 because
01:49this one is CS2 and but to understand
01:50how we got here we need to go back to
01:52where it all started before there was a
01:53shitty sequel before there was Counter
01:56Strike condition zero we need to go back
01:57to the 9s where a student attending
01:59college in Canada went by the name
02:00Gooseman Gooseman began modding quake in
02:02his first year of college when he met a
02:04man named Jess cliff and together they
02:06came up with this idea for a mod on the
02:07original halflife called Counterstrike
02:09Cliff would be most remembered for his
02:11role as the voice of the announcer and
02:12also getting catfished on an 18 plus
02:14form when Goan was in the middle of his
02:16senior year he spent 20 hours a week
02:18creating this mod and in 1999 released
02:20what would essentially be Counterstrike
02:22beta 1.0 at this point Counter-Strike
02:24was only hostage rescue which goes to
02:26show how good it was for people to
02:27actually be playing that game mode
02:29however when Counter Strike beta 4.0 saw
02:30the introduction of bombb diffusal the
02:32developers of halflife noticed how
02:33successful the game was becoming and
02:35began assisting with the game's
02:36development until deciding to buy the
02:38rights to Counter-Strike in hiring both
02:40Gooseman and Cliff in the process and
02:42then on November 9th 2000 Counter-Strike
02:441.0 was officially released for Windows
02:46also on this exact day in history some
02:48French kid named Matthew was born in
02:502000 Quake was still the main event at
02:51CPL and Counter-Strike had a $15,000
02:54prize pool as a side event a year later
02:56in 2001 Counter-Strike had already
02:57increased to 150,000 prize pool and took
03:00over as the main event in CPL keep in
03:02mind this was the same year that I was
03:03born so after inflation the prize pool
03:07$264,000 which is an insane amount of
03:09money to be competing for in a game that
03:10was released just a year prior jumping
03:12forward a few years and several releases
03:14later valve in 2003 release steam which
03:16was pretty cool I guess steam made it so
03:19that developers no longer had to release
03:20every update as a huge patch on their
03:22website but could instead push out small
03:24and big updates through Steam whenever
03:25they wanted before steam every single
03:27patch from 1.0 to 1.5 had to be manually
03:30downloaded which already took hours
03:31thanks to garbage internet speeds back
03:33then but when thousands of players
03:34around the world are trying to download
03:36the same update as you from the same
03:37server speeds are slowed down even worse
03:40than before so along with steam also
03:42came counter- strike's final release 1.6
03:44which coined the term cs1.6 since
03:46everyone is going to be playing on the
03:47same version all the time for Gooseman
03:49the success of the game in getting hired
03:51at the company that made the game he
03:52mods for was a dream come true but he
03:54would soon realize that it wasn't all
03:56sunshine and rainbows at Val HQ the
03:58reason 1.6 ended up being being the
03:59final release was because although
04:01Gooseman intended on working at valve to
04:03develop Counter-Strike 2 valve said no
04:05we are not doing that and I can only
04:07imagine it was because valve already had
04:08plans for a sequel of their own come
04:10March of 2004 Counter-Strike condition
04:12zero was released for Windows and it was
04:14so poorly received that I probably won't
04:16even talk about it for more than 30
04:17seconds Val at the time thought a single
04:19player campaign for Counterstrike was a
04:20good idea and although the graphics were
04:22very slightly better it was essentially
04:24just an alternate reality 1.6 so it
04:26flopped about as hard as my lethal
04:28company video did unfortunately for the
04:30fans of 1.6 though condition zero wasn't
04:32the only thing that was going to let
04:33them down this year because just a few
04:35months later valve released
04:36Counter-Strike Source significantly
04:38better graphics in all aspects of the
04:40game players even had the ability to
04:41import pictures straight from their
04:43computer into the game which turned out
04:44exactly how you'd expect it to models
04:46had ragd doll physics and even the props
04:48had physics he just he just hid the bomb
04:50under the barrel he just rolled a barrel
04:52on top of the bomb Source had the exact
04:54same ideas as 1.6 however competitively
04:57the game was just executed poorly what
04:58the Wikipedia won't tell you about
05:00reception and competitive divide is that
05:02holy [Â __Â ] did nearly everyone hate it
05:04there wasn't just some criticism there
05:06was a much larger part of the community
05:08who refused to play it at all 1.6 had
05:10better movement spray mechanics sounds
05:13and physics not to mention most people
05:15who play 1.6 didn't have good enough
05:16computers to run Source especially
05:18players in less fortunate countries as
05:20an example of how out of touch valve was
05:22at the time in 2006 Source tried to
05:24introduce a system called Dynamic weapon
05:27pricing which was supposed to change the
05:28price of weapon and Equipment every week
05:30based on how frequently they are bought
05:32for examples SMGs like the Mac 10 would
05:34be $140 while weapons like the deagle
05:37would cost up to 5,000 I don't know who
05:39came up with this abysmal idea but I
05:41assume it was intended to take advantage
05:42of steam's quick and easy update system
05:44showing that weekly updates were
05:46possible a couple of months later valve
05:47had to abandon this idea after players
05:49showed them why it was incredibly stupid
05:51this kind of just proved that valve did
05:52not know what the [Â __Â ] they were doing
05:54so with all that being said and 1.6
05:56basically never getting updated again
05:57let's talk about how successful esport
05:59Sports was these games are competitively
06:01driven after all and I'm going to talk
06:02about money because I need to do this so
06:04you understand how little Source was
06:06cared about by the players 2005 was the
06:08first year that Source saw any
06:09tournaments whatsoever and there was a
06:12$150,000 of all 12 tournaments held that
06:14year and way more than half of that
06:16total value came from one tournament
06:18alone you should guess how much money
06:191.6 had in tournaments that year if you
06:21said 1.3 million you would be right that
06:23year held a few sixf figureure prize
06:25pools but the biggest one was eswc 2005
06:28with1 140,000 prize pool ah okay somehow
06:311.6 actually got bigger since the
06:33release of source and it's not even
06:34close in 1.6 nobody was more successful
06:37than the ones from Europe of the top 10
06:39most successful organizations eight of
06:41them were European or Eastern European
06:43teams 1.6 curated phenomenal Talent from
06:46all over such as kou and FNX from Brazil
06:48or forest and getright from Sweden Taz
06:50and Neo from Poland and the United
06:53States player good for nothing just to
06:55name a few there was plenty of
06:56incredible Talent from source as well
06:58and they're mostly French take rpk for
07:00example inarguably the best source
07:02player in history and they nicknam this
07:04[Â __Â ] Leon of the 56 tournaments
07:07rpk played from 2007 to 2012 he didn't
07:11win nine of them you didn't hear that
07:13incorrectly he got first place in 47 of
07:17the 56 tournaments he played in the nine
07:19tournaments he didn't get first place in
07:21he got second place in eight of them and
07:23won in third place whenever this dude
07:25showed up to your tournament there was
07:27an 84% chance you were losing several
07:29things are depressing about this though
07:31his success could be attributed to
07:32nobody giving a [Â __Â ] about source and
07:34making him look like a God among men but
07:36the worst part of it all is that rpk
07:37isn't even in the top 10 players who
07:39earned the most money in Source the
07:40highest earning players all took
07:42advantage of an event called CGS and CGI
07:44who had heavy bias towards
07:46English-speaking players because it was
07:47an event owned by Direct TV there was a
07:50uk/ combine for that event but guess who
07:52didn't play the top three highest
07:54earning players in Source didn't even
07:55play more than 26 tournaments the third
07:58highest earning player in Source history
08:00only played Four tournaments and made
08:02more money than literally everybody else
08:04most notably though rpk wasn't even the
08:05best player to come from Source but
08:07those guys will make themselves known in
08:08just a moment so for now let's fast
08:10forward to 2010 year of the greatest
08:12video game of all time Skate 3 and the
08:14start of a new decade hltv started to
08:16implement a rating system for top level
08:18players which would in turn show what
08:19players had the best performance all
08:21year round hltv was the go-to spot for
08:23watching matches and getting news about
08:24the game in the Esports scene you can
08:26consider hltv to be the ESPN of
08:28Counterstrike except better there is
08:30truly nothing like it in all of Esports
08:32this year though we got an in-depth
08:33breakdown of the top 20 best players of
08:351.6 but not for Source players [Â __Â ]
08:37those guys also please note that there
08:39are only two Americans on this list it's
08:41going to be like that for a while did
08:42anything else happen this year Well
08:44since Source lost that industry plant
08:46Direct TV event to the 2007 housing
08:48crisis prize pools Dro back down to
08:50normal but technically would have peaked
08:51in 2010 but 2011 what's funny about this
08:54year is that it would have been a great
08:56year for competitive Source because they
08:58released a massive patch with balance
09:00changes and things that probably would
09:01have made players consider trying it out
09:03but they stupidly decided to release
09:05this update only 11 days after
09:06announcing CS goo further proving that
09:08valve had literally no [Â __Â ] idea what
09:10they're doing I wish I could tell you
09:11about how much this update impacted the
09:13game but I can't because everyone at the
09:14time was probably thinking there's a new
09:16game next year why should I start
09:18playing Source now so in anticipation
09:20for the new addition of Counterstrike
09:21both of the competitive scenes slowed
09:23down a little bit while gearing up for
09:24the release there was still plenty of
09:26competition but tournaments in 1.6
09:28dropped from 11 events to 78 in 2011
09:31same with Source going from 58 to 42
09:33when 2012 rolls around in csgo had an
09:35early beta the consensus was pretty
09:37awful actually I talked a little bit
09:39about it in my first video but to give
09:40you an idea of what people thought at
09:42the time the first line in the hltv
09:44article says if I said the game
09:46resembles CS 1.6 more than CSS as it is
09:48right now I would be lying and quite
09:50frankly even CSS feels smoother and that
09:52one sentence honestly tells you
09:54everything you need to know about CSO at
09:56the time but as the game steadily
09:57improved players continued to play 1 .6
09:59in Source until the game's official
10:00release the last 1.6 major event was in
10:03March because tournament organizers
10:04planned to make a switch to csgo seeing
10:06that we are now in 2012 and they are
10:08still hosting tournaments for a game
10:10that looks like it was made in 1999
10:12because it was there are still plenty of
10:13smaller events being held until late
10:152012 for both titles but then in 2013
10:17poof none all gone CS Go released in
10:20August of 2012 and the last land in 1.6
10:22history the esca season 13 finals was
10:24also holding a CSO event in which a few
10:27Losers of just made this absolutely
10:29cursed roster that just dominated the
10:301.6 side of the land csgo's influence
10:33over the community took over almost
10:34immediately but before I get into any
10:36more detail I need to talk to you about

12:11it csgo is the best litmus test to see
12:14which game forg the better players and
12:15it was actually cool as hell to see how
12:17fundamentally different the play styles
12:18were between top players from these
12:20games the ultimate crossover episode
12:22where the players among two different
12:23titles finally come together and join
12:25forces to create the best teams
12:26imaginable it didn't even take more than
12:28a couple of days before the first super
12:29team was put together ninjas and pajamas
12:31fittingly the name of the team to win
12:33the first ever CS major consisted of
12:35three of the best 1.6 players and two
12:37Source players this team within the
12:39first year of csgo's release would put
12:41together an 87 and zero win streak
12:43winning 10 events in a row without
12:45dropping a single map nip would become a
12:47legendary icon that put everyone's
12:49attention on csgo if you didn't swap
12:51games yet you certainly swapped games
12:53now one unfortunate team that had to
12:55play nip a lot in this era was rpk
12:56French Squad VAR games a team consist
12:58consisting of five of the best source
13:00players who would have the displeasure
13:01of losing five times in the finals
13:03against them but now is as good as time
13:04as ever to mention the differences
13:06between a source player and a 1.6 player
13:081.6 players tended to be more tactical
13:10and slow paced while Source players
13:11tended to be flashy and mechanically
13:13gifted a good example of a 1.6 player at
13:15the time would be get right an amazing
13:17player in his own ways but uses
13:18positioning and Superior game sense to
13:20catch enemies off guard or gain a slight
13:22advantage over them an example of a
13:23source player would be scream an
13:24incredibly quick and precise aimer that
13:26just kind of shits on you whenever they
13:27feel like it definitely play style it's
13:29hard to maintain consistency with but
13:31whenever they're playing well they are
13:32unstoppable valve Continue to update the
13:34game more frequently than ever revamping
13:36maps and fixing bugs even though the
13:37Counter-Strike players will never be
13:39happy with anything they do ever they
13:40also added weapon skins in the arms deal
13:42update which I'm sure won't have a
13:44global economic effect that will change
13:45the course of history as we know it
13:47operation Bravo came out not long after
13:49which added more replayability in the
13:50form of community made maps and a coin
13:52that would upgrade the more you play
13:53Dream hack winner 2013 was just a few
13:55months later the first ever csgo major
13:57with a prize pool of two
13:59$250,000 you'd think it would be a wash
14:01for the 87 and0 team but it wasn't it
14:03was a completely separate Swedish
14:05Powerhouse of a team that took them over
14:07in the finals flusher and 17-year-old
14:09Menace JW took the community by storm
14:11after stealing the first ever csgo major
14:13from the hands of nip who let's be
14:15honest really shouldn't have fumbled
14:17that in the same year as their
14:18impossible win streak to round out the
14:20year gift boxes whenever used would give
14:23a random user inside the server a random
14:25skin or whenever you're watching a
14:27stream you have the chance to be given a
14:28drop your name would pop up in game
14:30whenever you get one and this obviously
14:32turned out exactly how you'd imagine it
14:33to the names I usually kept popping up
14:35on screen were skin gambling websites so
14:37they had to remove the HUD feature the
14:39game was getting consistent updates the
14:40best players of that year were a
14:42wonderful mix of 1.6 and Source players
14:44the world is healing and then they
14:46helped ruin it all at the start of 2014
14:48when they added the Cy for $400 you can
14:50get a gun the size of a 57 with the fire
14:52power of an AK and it terrorized the
14:54game for almost a full year until it got
14:56massively nerfed in December and was
14:58almost never never seen again there was
14:59plenty of great Updates this year though
15:01like stickers operation Phoenix breakout
15:03and Vanguard cash got added train got
15:06reworked the best team in North America
15:08I by power through a game against net
15:10code guides for skins and got
15:12permanently banned from participating in
15:13valve sponsored events ruining the
15:15careers of four American players for a
15:17few measly pixels on your computer
15:19screens meanwhile in Europe nip got
15:20second place at yet another major losing
15:22to polish Powerhouse verus Pro but then
15:24redeemed themselves by finally winning
15:26the one after that meanwhile in
15:27specifically France DLC wins dream hack
15:29Winter 2014 making them the first group
15:31of only source players to win a major
15:33proving that anything is possible also
15:35nip got second place at that one too bit
15:37of lore at the time French player Kelly
15:39replaced scream on Titan only to then
15:40get V banned for cheating immediately
15:42after this is what scream had to say
15:45situation no seriously no seriously no
15:51seriously no I I I don't trust that
15:54seriously k k are you [Â __Â ] serious in
15:57my eyes he has such a way with words the
16:01later half of 2014 also saw Cloud9 sign
16:03a roster with North American Starchild
16:05shroud 1.6 Legend nothing National
16:07Treasure sha garez and heo who was the
16:10only player to be featured in HL TV's
16:12top 20 who wasn't banned from
16:13competition the only other player I'm
16:14referring to here was the 18th best
16:16player of 2014 swag who at 18 years old
16:19was one of the four members of IB power
16:21to get banned na did not have a lot
16:22going for them when heo left Cloud9
16:24shortly after joining to go play with
16:25former iby power guys who are all being
16:27investigated at the time and weren't
16:29banned yet so he left the team for
16:30essentially no reason and Cloud9 had to
16:32pick up Shazam on short notice also get
16:34right would be named the best player in
16:35the world yet again for 2 years in a row
16:37but before I get though there was a case
16:39called The Huntsman and in that case
16:40there was a red Rarity M4 called the
16:42howl and people had a few weeks of
16:44unboxing and spending money before valve
16:45got hit with a copyright infringement
16:47because the guy who claimed to make the
16:49howl actually stole the artwork for it
16:50so valve removed all the Skins he worked
16:52on from the case and you could still
16:54trade up to some of those items such as
16:55the Orion if you were lucky however the
16:57howl was the exception valve had to
16:59recreate the howl themselves and you
17:01could only have one if you unboxed it
17:03prior to its removal from the case
17:04making it the first and only Contraband
17:06item in the game in 2015 though more
17:08cases another operation and being a fan
17:11of North American Counter-Strike was a
17:12roller coaster as usual valve confirmed
17:14the iby power throwing scandal after
17:16seeing the trade receipts showing all
17:18the players getting knives except for
17:19scadoodle streams of FPL and rank s took
17:21off which were sort of a 10-man Lobby
17:23for just professional players and this
17:24era is looked back on fondly for the
17:26amount of players we had streaming these
17:27games for fun such as Olaf and posha and
17:30scream and more famously shroud just
17:32existing shroud has always streamed more
17:33than the average player but on top of
17:35his incredibly tame personality he was a
17:36massive troll who had the skill to back
17:38it up though he got a lot of [Â __Â ] for
17:40not showing it on land with Cloud9
17:41speaking of whom Cloud9 picked up
17:43scadoodle and instantly improved as a
17:45team as well as Freakazoid who got the
17:46whole team wearing tank tops but then
17:48Shong garas had to make the hard
17:49decision to leave the team after losing
17:50to a random kinguin Squad that they
17:52should have beaten but didn't because
17:53they are too silly well it was fun while
17:55it lasted we saw the return and Rise of
17:57fnatic after they won two Majors back to
17:59back but there was a very significant
18:00update this year the op got a massive
18:02nerve kenes and JW were so quick with
18:04their flicks and Peaks that they had to
18:05slow the op movement down enough to
18:07practically Nerf them as players
18:08thankfully for Ken s though he was still
18:10able to win a major after this change
18:11but JW didn't get so lucky oh Sean Garis
18:14Nob Garis by the way nip got second
18:17place in another major this year showing
18:18how good they are at barely winning
18:20stuff but on the bright side they picked
18:21up finished sniper Alo who gave us this
18:23Gem of a quote are those thread balls
18:25only for the commercials or can you
18:29no you you can drink them should I push
18:32banana as well yeah yeah yeah push it
18:34push it like you push your girlfriend
18:36damn for the first time ever getright
18:38wasn't the number one player in csgo as
18:40Olaf Meister jumped to the rankings with
18:42his ability to rifle and op at the same
18:44time scadoodle kept the tradition of
18:45having only one na a player in the top
18:4720 Alive by getting 20th himself oh and
18:49the R8 was also added this year probably
18:51the biggest mistake in CS history this
18:52pistol was a replacement to the deagle
18:54and would One-Shot enemies to the body
18:56with a slight trigger delay I have no
18:58idea why they added this to the game and
18:59it still doesn't make any sense because
19:01the gun was nerfed and never changed
19:02like they refused to make it viable
19:04Shadow dagger knives were also added and
19:05people like to call them butt plugs 2016
19:07in my opinion was one of my favorite
19:09years of csgo operation Wildfire nuke
19:11and Inferno reworks gamma cases which
19:13included a bunch of new textures for
19:15knives like lore and Gamma doublers
19:17gloves and graffiti which is
19:19significantly less cooler than the
19:20original sprays we had in Source but at
19:22least it's something this year is
19:24massive for Esports as well as the
19:25majors went from being $250,000 to 1
19:27million for one and the battles for
19:29these titles were incredible this year
19:30we saw Team Liquid who has always been
19:32sort of a number two and a team behind
19:33Cloud9 finally rise to the occasion with
19:35the help of Ukrainian Superstar simple
19:37simple at this time was around 18 years
19:39old when joining liquid and was given
19:40the chance after heo stood in for the
19:42Ukrainian team flip side somehow
19:44becoming close friends with each other
19:45simple was incredibly toxic loud and
19:48[Â __Â ] amazing at Counter Strike which
19:49earned him an interesting reputation in
19:51na where he now had to live to play with
19:53liquid his former teammate and best 1.6
19:55player of 2011 marof said quote I feel
19:58really awesome that he left because of
20:00how awful he was to play with simple
20:02would often get into fights on stream
20:03while playing rank s most famously
20:05getting argument with Cloud9 Freakazoid
20:07who made fun of simple telling him to
20:09get a tan and then had to go to anger
20:10management for bullying a Ukrainian kid
20:12who could barely speak English why you
20:15me you [Â __Â ] [Â __Â ] why you bully me
20:18everyone asking MLG Columbus 2016 was
20:20one of the greatest tournaments of all
20:21time nip was constantly scrambling to
20:23find a fifth that meshed well with them
20:24and were forced to play with their coach
20:26threat after pth head Visa issues and
20:27couldn't travel if they wanted to defend
20:29their major legend status it meant
20:30having to make it to the playoffs with a
20:32guy who hasn't played professionally in
20:33over 4 years but somehow they pulled it
20:36off managing to beat ma in a best of
20:37three before inevitably falling in the
20:39playoffs but this tournament was where
20:40simple let everybody know that he's
20:42going to be something great
20:43single-handedly dragging liquid to the
20:44semi-finals before North America had to
20:46go and let us down yet again here he
20:49comes once again the first base is a
20:51dren he's going to hit the ground there
20:52is cold oh what it's jumping double for
20:55cold what is that going on right now
20:58after this round liquid blew the lead
20:59and did the same thing in the next map
21:01to lose the series it was still an
21:02amazing run for liquid as na has never
21:04been this far in a CSO major before but
21:06I'll be honest it still makes my stomach
21:07churn rewatching the jumping double from
21:09cold Luminosity went on to win the major
21:11after absolutely [Â __Â ] on na'vi in
21:12the last map and it was actually
21:13heartwarming to see a Brazilian team
21:15with so much passion and love for the
21:17game win the biggest Tournament of all
21:18time FNX and Fallen were already 1.6
21:20Legends but to come up big here was
21:22worth so much more literally it's a
21:24million dollars but this play from
21:25coldzero was so iconic that valve
21:27immortalized moment inside of the game
21:29creating graffiti in the spot that had
21:30happened in esl1 colog 2016 would be
21:32simple's last event with liquid as
21:33although he just joined he realized that
21:35he wanted to be back with his family
21:36back home I think it's pretty uncommon
21:38that an 18-year-old moves across the
21:39planet leaving everything behind and is
21:41just happy about it he decided that this
21:42event was his time to shine though
21:44another North American Miracle run was
21:46coming and a kid from Ukraine was
21:47leading the charge game after game
21:49simple showed the world that the next
21:50generation was coming and then he did
21:52this the he's going to fall down and get
21:55what is this CL from simple are you
21:57serious what is that you can't do that
21:59simple that's not allowed this is not
22:01FPL this is a major oh my God but simple
22:04I I don't know oh my God no scope it was
22:08a no scope he didn't even he had he had
22:10one button on his mouth stand he had one
22:12button there was no Zoom which was just
22:14really [Â __Â ] up to doe to a fanatic
22:16that was already past their Prime by the
22:18time liquid made it to the finals and
22:19got just a whiff of winning a major it
22:21was already over because they were
22:22playing the same team that won the last
22:24major and it wasn't even close simple
22:26was burnt out after carrying the entire
22:28tournament and put up a stinker at the
22:29end he then went back to Ukraine where
22:31he got offered a spot in one of the most
22:32ancient Counter-Strike organizations
22:34na'vi they noticed how well he could
22:35perform under pressure and his ability
22:37to carry nearly anyone on his own which
22:39he will unfortunately be doing a lot
22:40even though he replaced Zeus one of the
22:42oldest active players at the time with a
22:44career rating of 0.92 what simple short
22:47stint with liquid is remembered by
22:48practically everyone the Brazilians were
22:50just in too good of a form to be slowed
22:52down at the time SK and czera made
22:54history and na fumbled yet again funnily
22:56enough though Cloud9 actually won their
22:57first big tournament this year and it
22:59was in sou Paulo Brazil beating SK in
23:01the finals if only Shawn garas was there
23:03with them speaking of which let's see
23:04what Shawn is up to do do fast we'll
23:06take out their mid guy and we'll just go
23:08into a midb split quick okay you just
23:10boost me over and I'll kill this guy
23:11plan on going no just do [Â __Â ] fast
23:13mid Ronnie holy [Â __Â ] I don't have a
23:15smoke did [Â __Â ] buy one dude what I
23:18called the Trap before [Â __Â ] freeze
23:19time 2017 Counter-Strike saw a
23:21transition into a new era and if you
23:22thought 2016 saw a bunch of new names
23:24take Center Stage wait until you see it
23:26now for updates we had operation Hydra a
23:28dust 2 rework and a lot of skins but
23:30that's honestly it canals I guess cases
23:33hltv updated their rating system to make
23:35more sense if that's worth anything
23:37anyway SK only got top three in a major
23:39this year but they still went on an
23:40absolute tear winning eight tournaments
23:42and reigning as the best in the world
23:432017 was a year of upsets and I'm not
23:45just talking about being upset about
23:47nothing and trout being replaced on
23:48Cloud9 the most beloved team in history
23:51with only one trophy in like 3 years to
23:53show for it the year started with eague
23:54Atlanta where Australis started to take
23:56off with the help of 18-year-old k Derby
23:58meeting vertis Pro in the finals who
23:59still had their core of players from 1.6
24:01VP put up a good fight for a bunch of
24:03old heads but the kids are starting to
24:05take over it teams this looked like it
24:06was going to be an insane year with how
24:08SK was performing and FaZe building a
24:10super team after acquiring Nico and then
24:12winning a Tournament 2 months later
24:13despite winning the major astralis was
24:15eliminated by phase in three tournaments
24:17this year but this was also a big year
24:18for the infamous iby power guys because
24:20ESL decided that two years was long
24:22enough and gave them an unban this
24:23didn't mean that they could play in
24:24Majors but it was sort of a last harah
24:25for the guys Cloud9 even allowing swag
24:27to sub in for the greatest event of all
24:29time CS Summit a chill tournament held
24:31in just a big ass house actually I
24:34remember one time we were playing
24:35against vus Pro nuk and it was
24:39155 tovp we were playing as D VP i c and
24:44fall and fall inside guys if you think
24:47we are good let's prove it now
24:51155 did we come back of course not
24:5665 the second midor was an Underdog
24:58Story between Gambit and Immortals a
25:00completely different Brazilian team
25:01proving that this region is just
25:03unbelievably talented at Counter-Strike
25:05for whatever reason Gambit stole this
25:06major all in thanks to Zeus who is
25:08probably fueled by the fact that simple
25:09replaced him I just say all of Ma I love
25:17second God help me and I W
25:22measure simple by the way had a
25:24relatively bad year as na'vi tried to
25:26find out how the hell they could keep
25:27two opers like guardian and simple at
25:29the same time after the major realizing
25:31they couldn't then replacing Guardian
25:32with the same Zeus who left the team and
25:34immediately won a major like your
25:35ex-girlfriend cheating on you and then
25:37coming back to try and get married this
25:38obviously didn't work and simple
25:40suffered for it and the old guard of
25:41Counter-Strike has officially taken
25:42their final stand with nip having their
25:44last big tournament win in Oakland with
25:46a close 3-2 victory over FaZe we never
25:48see these Legends win anything huge ever
25:50again so let's go to the first month of
25:522018 where holy [Â __Â ] Cloud just won a
25:55cloud sets the push up oh oh it's
25:58happened they made it work Cloud n are
26:04Champions I thought this team was dead
26:06in the water but I guess shroud and
26:07nothing really were the problem after an
26:09absolutely insane Underdog run at
26:10e-league Boston playing in front of a
26:12home crowd trick and Rush were the best
26:13two things that could have ever happened
26:15to this team winning what could only be
26:16described as an impossible comeback
26:18against what was considered to be the
26:20scariest team in the history of Counter
26:21Strike C9 were down O2 in the group
26:23stage then won three Series in a row
26:25played G2 in their Prime SK who had
26:28three guys in the top six players of
26:30last year and then FaZe no team has ever
26:33had more Firepower than FaZe with Nico
26:35guardian and Olaf Meister three players
26:38who were considered to be the top three
26:39in the world at some point yet somehow
26:41out of pure adrenaline and hamburgers
26:43NCS won their first ever and only major
26:46championship also this year bully
26:48Hunters a website where you could call
26:50good players to join your game and then
26:52[Â __Â ] on the guys being mean to you I
26:54think they should bring this back oh God
26:56and danger zone yeah see go Battle
26:58Royale was a thing at some point this
26:59was a big deal when it came out but it
27:01got neglected and only a few people
27:03cared after a while even though it was
27:04pretty cool to see what people could do
27:06with it after Cloud 9's Miracle run they
27:07fell apart quite literally only playing
27:09good in just that major out of the
27:11entire year scuda retired and then they
27:13lost Stewie and trick who went to mibr
27:15to play with the Brazilian SK lineup and
27:18then Cloud9 picked up flusher from
27:19fanatic and koshima who was in that old
27:21ldlc lineup and the envious lineup that
27:24both won Majors yeah this [Â __Â ] is cursed
27:26speaking of Europeans CS aalis won the
27:28second major in 2018 and simple went on
27:30a Redemption Arc coming in at second in
27:32the major and winning a few massive
27:33tournaments that year absolutely
27:34dominating the competition by himself
27:36and not even making it close simple
27:38averaged a 1.33 rating that year finally
27:41claiming his spot as the best player in
27:43the world verus Pro also finally broke
27:45up that core of players that have been
27:46playing together since 2011 because the
27:48results have just been pretty bad for a
27:49while a very sad moment for CS fans as
27:51they were the oldest team still around a
27:53bunch of ogs sticking it out together
27:55finally being torn apart by what was
27:57rumored to be a Mercedes given to Taz
27:59forest and get R are still kicking it in
28:00it by the way it's just that Forest is
28:02actually taking the spotlight most of
28:04the time the game Saw almost no real
28:06meaningful updates there was an MP5
28:08which is still never used because it was
28:10always terrible and some more cases cuz
28:12skins keep the game alive updates slowed
28:14down a lot at this point 2019 I'm going
28:16to start speeding these up a bit cash
28:18was removed from the active pool and was
28:19replaced by vertigo a decision that
28:21nearly everybody hated at the time per
28:23usual they did a rework on cash a little
28:25later this year but everyone hated the
28:26way it looked because of course they did
28:28and cash was then never played
28:29professionally ever again operation
28:31shattered web was added which had a
28:33campaign mode that was pretty cool hey
28:35by the way totally random do you
28:36remember that kid named Matthew earlier
28:38that was born on the same exact day that
28:40the original Counter-Strike was released
28:41yeah he just dethroned simple as best
28:43player in the world while astralis were
28:44taking over the entire competitive Scene
28:46Three peating back to backto back Majors
28:49for the first time since 1.6 zyu out of
28:51nowhere was dominating the tier 2
28:53Counterstrike scene like some sort of
28:55demigod he was then given a chance to
28:57shine with Vitality teaming up with old
28:59French Source Legends like rpk Apex and
29:01nbk immediately zyu made it known that
29:03he was different he was matched only by
29:06simple and nobody could keep up with him
29:07and he was only 19 years old in his
29:10first year competing professionally it
29:12was a really close battle for who was
29:13better this year but zyu really Star
29:15Struck everyone simple was a slow rise
29:17to the top and zyu just projected
29:19himself up there like the game was just
29:21easier for him the community dubbed him
29:22the chosen one since he perfectly shares
29:24a birthday with Counter-Strike also this
29:26year Team Liquid on their form na was
29:28finally winning competitions and liquid
29:30was dominating after the addition of
29:31Stewie 2K liquid won I IM Sydney and
29:33then from June to July 21st they won
29:36every single tournament they played in
29:37earning them an Intel Grand Slam which
29:39was in a million dooll prize for winning
29:41four events within a 10 event window
29:43three players from Team Liquid were in
29:45the top 10 players this year with a Le
29:46leading them at number four but after
29:48winning six events in a row it was time
29:49for the major where they immediately
29:52exited in the playoffs thanks to
29:53astralis ignoring the fact that astralis
29:55eliminated liquid from seven tournaments
29:58over the last year this bout of
29:59inconsistency is only achievable by a
30:01North American team and it's honestly
30:03what we've come to expect at this point
30:04liquid was not the same team again after
30:06this point and even though they tried to
30:07keep the same players it just didn't
30:09work because losing to astralis was just
30:11inevitable and demoralizing it's also
30:13worth mentioning that asus's device was
30:14a top five player in the world for 5
30:17years straight and he was going to make
30:18it number six because 2020 just didn't
30:20exist we had this Global pandemic that
30:22was called the Corona virus or something
30:24and it literally wiped every offline
30:25event from happening this year also had
30:27no updates and people were getting a
30:29little sick of it so when a game called
30:31valerant came out with the expressed
30:32purpose of competing against
30:33Counter-Strike everyone thought that
30:35Counter-Strike was going to die valerant
30:37did actually steal a lot of players from
30:38Counterstrike though many of the
30:39longtime pros of Cs made the switch most
30:41famously scream but a lot of the younger
30:43Talent as well tenens became the best
30:44valer player in the world and he was on
30:46Cloud9 for a bit with a another weird
30:48roster that they tried to call the
30:49Colossus I don't even know what to say
30:51about this but needless to say na was in
30:53this [Â __Â ] again nip has parted ways
30:55with everyone from the original lineup
30:56and dignitas came in and swooped up the
30:58squad for a last dance that did not last
31:00more than 10 months but it was a cool
31:01idea unfortunately for this year online
31:03tournaments are a lot less interesting
31:05because the crowd isn't there to make an
31:06impact and the game is less consistent
31:08because of network latency and lag so no
31:10Majors were played at all this year was
31:11a blur you'd think Counter-Strike would
31:13try to go to war with valerant but they
31:14literally didn't care at all and just
31:15did what they always did which was not
31:17update the game there is this video made
31:18in 2016 called how valve trees CSCO and
31:21it goes over a lot of issues that were
31:23around back then and they all applied
31:24even now there were stretches of time
31:26where the game didn't see an update for
31:27upwards to 171 days but still
31:30Counter-Strike fans persisted because if
31:31there's one thing that we know about
31:33them it's that they're stubborn 2021
31:35didn't change that fact in fact it got
31:37worse the biggest thing they added was
31:39unranked matchmaking so you can play 5v5
31:41without playing competitive can you
31:42believe that it's been 9 years since the
31:44game's released and there was no way to
31:46play the only game mode that mattered
31:48without queuing competitive well you
31:49have to believe it cuz that's what
31:50happened they added a battlefield 2042
31:52sticker collab a game I completely
31:54forgot existed until I was writing this
31:56script and saw that update operation
31:58Riptide also came out later in the year
32:00but I can't remember anything about it
32:01aside from insertion 2 on the bright
32:03side though Esports still existed for Cs
32:05and simple was not happy about being the
32:07second best player for two years in a
32:08row behind a guy who just started
32:10playing professionally this man was
32:11coldblooded he didn't stop trying or
32:13slow down at all he stepped up and got
32:15even better which was terrible for the
32:17rest of the scene because it meant that
32:18they had to deal with simple at his best
32:19and zou who was going to [Â __Â ] on them
32:21anyway the first offline event since
32:222019 comes around in IM IM cologne and
32:24simple reminded everyone why they called
32:26him the Undertaker and dropped a 1.5
32:28average rating on their heads simple
32:30beat Z in the head-to head but to be
32:31frank the rest of na'vi were just better
32:33than the rest of Vitality the second
32:35offline event is the pgl major and
32:37Accolade simple has yet to accomplish he
32:39still needs a major win under his belt
32:41and he needs that ring to be considered
32:43the goat of Counter-Strike and only Nico
32:45stood in his way Nico left phas for G2 a
32:47while back and he's also never won a
32:48major mainly because of that thing that
32:50Cloud9 did in 2018 Nico is widely
32:52regarded as the best rifler of all time
32:54because most top players today tend to
32:55be oppers but he is so dead accurate
32:57that he's been in the top 20 every year
32:59since 2016 and was top five in four
33:02different years oh God and he just did
33:04the worst thing ever of all time Jesus
33:06Christ he's never going to live that
33:07down I can't even blame him though
33:09because simple is just on another level
33:11he takes home his first major win first
33:13major MVP and takes back his number one
33:16spot the icing on the cake for the
33:17tragic story of Nico is that his former
33:19team FaZe ended up winning the next
33:21major in 2022 without him twist who is a
33:24part of the team liquid dream run that
33:25lasted like 2 months ran way to Europe
33:27and betrayed his country but I'm joking
33:29because it was a really good idea for
33:31him to do that 2022 was a year I somehow
33:33got signed at Team Liquid after winning
33:35a competition that was pretty cool I
33:37guess I'd ask you to DB me up if you
33:38weren't made of water or seltzer of some
33:40sort nobody's actually specified what
33:42the liquid is csgo turned 10 years old
33:44yippy stickers and music kits and cases
33:46I'm sure you know the deal device was on
33:48nip and didn't play for a year shocks is
33:51on liquid and Cloud9 are a Russian team
33:53I don't know what's happening the major
33:55this year was actually won by outside
33:56iders and if you're wondering who yeah
33:58that's kind of what a lot of people
34:00thought but it's not exactly an Underdog
34:02Story when they literally have Jesus on
34:04their team and their coach encourages
34:05him to masturbate before games all right
34:08team Brazil and team Sweden were the
34:09show match because the major was in Rio
34:11and it was the full lgk lineup that won
34:13back-to-back Majors versus a bunch of
34:1530-year-old Swedish players and carrian
34:18who is Danish but also 30 literally
34:20hydrogen bomb versus coughing baby out
34:23[Â __Â ] way out of pocket what do you gain
34:27simple and zyu were still the number one
34:28and number two because even though they
34:30didn't win a ton they were still the
34:31Undisputed goats this video is already
34:33long enough for what was supposed to be
34:34a quickie so let's just get straight
34:35into 2023 in the final year of csgo it
34:37was a long ride to get here but we are
34:39here nonetheless valve on CS2 with a
34:41random video about smokes being changed
34:42which would explain why they were absent
34:44like my father getting milk for the last
34:462 years and they released another case
34:47with it because of course they did and
34:50the major was a doozy and I say doozy
34:52not just because it's a stupid word but
34:53because it was it took place in Paris
34:55and the champion state was full of a
34:57bunch of Underdog teams hungry for their
34:59first title an epic note to end csgo on
35:02but the chosen one wasn't going to let
35:03down his home country in the last major
35:05of csgo's History so in a story that's
35:08as fitting as it is poetic like a script
35:10that was meant to be played zyu takes
35:12home his first ever major championship
35:14and the MVP to go along with it it's a
35:16really nice way to go out it almost
35:17feels like it was meant to be simple
35:19didn't play much of CS2 when it released
35:21he was very upset about the way it felt
35:22and many Pros felt similarly but he took
35:25a much stronger approach so Z took back
35:27his number one spot in the world but
35:28Counter-Strike stays competitive
35:30Vitality won two in a row to end the
35:32year but Nico and G2 won a few trophies
35:34as well phas won a grand slam and then
35:36proceeded to win three big tournaments
35:38in a row twists becoming the only player
35:40in CS history to win multiple Grand
35:42Slams 2024 there's this kid named Don
35:45who is currently terrorizing the whole
35:46scene right now and people are accusing
35:47him of cheating even on land he is like
35:49only 17 years old and you know what he's
35:51starting to look like another zyu out
35:53there hey guys post edit K here sorry if
35:55the audio sounds a little different
35:56friend I'm recording this after I
35:57finished editing everything and just
35:59wanted to give a couple quick notes
36:00before signing off so simple joined
36:02Falcons temporarily debuting his return
36:04to Counter Strike he played his first
36:06match in 3 months and it definitely
36:07wasn't his greatest performance the
36:09first ever CS2 major pgl Copenhagen is a
36:11little over a week away and it'll be the
36:13first time that Dupri won't be playing
36:15in a major after having won five of them
36:17more than anybody else in history Don is
36:19continuing his generational stretch of
36:21individual dominance and zwu is still
36:23zwu obviously in this video I missed a
36:25lot of interesting things play events
