00:03in the southwestern most part of the map
00:05in Fallout New Vegas you'll find a
00:07location called the NCR Ranger Outpost
00:09Mojave or just the Mojave Outpost
00:12notable for the massive unification
00:14Monument which can be seen from vast
00:16distances throughout the game at the far
00:18end there is a gate beyond the Wasteland
00:21stretches for as far as the player can
00:23see this gate is locked behind a key
00:25that doesn't exist it functions as one
00:28of the borders of the game World a
00:30bogetic barrier keeping the player
00:31inside the confines of the game but it
00:34doesn't exist solely to keep the player
00:36in this gate is keeping something out
00:39something which the developers left to
00:40be forgotten something dangerous beyond
00:44the barriers they placed there are
00:46unanswered questions ghosts which refuse
00:48to be forgotten there's something hiding
00:51outside of bounds in Fallout New Vegas
01:04in theave Wasteland where the
01:07Geck there is a single signal that makes
01:10this place its home just out good
01:15theone a bu trailer and they call it
01:31now come on Bo I have to tell you
01:33something about that
01:41place Saturday November 25th 2023 Reddit
01:45user code name Rojo Vivo post to the R/C
01:49Creepy Gaming subreddit weird new
01:51Fallout New Vegas Channel that I found
01:53art project ARG mod side note if you're
01:56looking for a place to find some of
01:58these web series and get in on on the
02:00ground floor keep an eye on R/C Creepy
02:02Gaming they get posted there a lot the
02:04post links to a Channel with the name Dr
02:06Bosch created in May of 20122 the name
02:09is a reference to heronimus Bosch a
02:11painter from the early Renaissance and
02:12the profile picture meets us with the
02:14Eerie gaze of an NCR Ranger the
02:16description informs us that we will be
02:18looking at a collection of old vids
02:20taking a look at these old vids
02:22published to the channel we can see that
02:23they're all centered around gameplay of
02:25Fallout New Vegas as someone with a
02:27fairly limited experience with the
02:29Fallout Universe I'll also be referring
02:31to the comments of other viewers a few
02:33times throughout this video when they
02:34point out an interesting connection or
02:36detail so I'll be putting those on
02:38screen when I mention them without any
02:39more delay let's take a look at Dr
02:42Bosch's first video Fallout New Vegas
02:44outside the move Outpost the video
02:48starts at the Mojave Outpost text on the
02:51screen informs us that the player
02:52accidentally discovered that they can
02:54jump out of the outposts invisible
02:56barrier or lack thereof and into the
02:58Wasteland Beyond a place that should
03:01just be background decoration spanning
03:03for unknown miles after making it over
03:05and looking around a bit they decide to
03:07continue exploring and making updates on
03:09what they find looking to the
03:11description we can gather a little bit
03:12more context this video seems to have
03:15originally been made as evidence for a
03:16discussion taking place on an outside
03:18Forum with someone named Mark suggesting
03:25it interestingly enough over 10 years
03:28ago July 25th 2013 a YouTube channel by
03:31the name of Jacob Novak uploaded a video
03:33titled how to get through the gate at
03:35the Mojave Outpost in Fallout perhaps an
03:38inspiration for this series the video
03:40appears to be 100% genuine and though
03:43their Route Around the gate is different
03:45it ends up in the same place I went to
03:47check on it myself to see if it was real
03:49and yeah okay so we're going to want to
03:56here okay let me see if I can remember
03:59how they did did this it's up this
04:18here we go up around this way I
04:25believe it's up through this way maybe
04:30I believe I'm on the right track here we
04:42game you could just no clip through
04:47here uh but that's you know like that's
04:50cheating plus like I don't know if
04:51you're on Console if you could do that
04:53this is a there's something to this I
04:56think that makes it a little bit extra
04:58here we are outside of the bounds of the
05:00game it was almost a little bit Eerie
05:03finding myself in the same place as Dr
05:05Bosch knowing what they discover here
05:07only a few videos later though I found
05:10nothing more than empty desert
05:18myself I'm here in agaia Arizona that
05:21name will be familiar to you if you've
05:23listened to Marty Robins gunfighter
05:28Iron so Dr Bosch sets out into a newly
05:32unexplored environment outside of the
05:35bounds of the game outside of the scope
05:37of the developers the Journey Begins
05:39into a wasteland unknown
06:10though this video has a much longer
06:12title with a string of characters for
06:14the purposes of this video I'll just be
06:15calling it Mojave raw 1 the description
06:18of the video explains that this is raw
06:19unedited gameplay footage initially just
06:22passed around to friends and the Forum
06:24the player continues wandering through
06:25the outof bounds Wasteland as they pass
06:28the last few telephone poles and the
06:29last sights of The Outpost disappear the
06:32sound of crickets and the radio from
06:33their pit boy provide Ambience to an
06:35otherwise silent atmosphere as the last
06:38of the fractured Road gives way to the
06:39dusty terrain and the player moves
06:41further out of the map they catch a
06:43glimpse of something it appears to be
06:45some kind of radio equipment perhaps an
06:48antenna or receiver I'm not really sure
06:50I should again preface here that I'm not
06:52really a Fallout expert and I've never
06:54even finished New Vegas so pardon some
06:56of the blind spots if you can I've done
06:58my best further into the Wasteland as
07:00the Sun is setting the player spots a
07:02building and they make their way over on
07:04the way they find that they are
07:05officially out of the map's boundaries
07:07arriving at the small building they find
07:09it to be a dilapidated Shack with
07:11inconsistent Collision nearby there are
07:13more bits of ruined architecture the
07:15existence of these so far outside of the
07:18map is completely strange it suggests
07:20some kind of intentionality behind their
07:22placement despite being outside the
07:24scope of the game in one of the burnt
07:26out buildings the player finds a series
07:28of bottles cans and a plate laid out
07:30neatly on a slab of concrete and a
07:33mattress nearby like someone's been here
07:36this suspicion of occupation seems to be
07:38reinforced when they stumble across a
07:40makeshift fire P pit surrounded by
07:41benches empty whiskey bottles and a
07:43lunchbox as the player interacts with
07:45this lunch boox the game adds a quest M
07:48Johnson ver question marks ye e d g h c
07:54very strange the quest places a marker
07:56on their map displayed in the pit boy as
07:59m Johnson ver Quest 5 and with this new
08:02Target in mind the video
08:05ends the next video starts with the
08:08player flipping through the pit boy
08:09radio most of the stations Play Nothing
08:12some Amit static eventually they make
08:14their way back to the Mojave Outpost and
08:16try to clip back into the map presumably
08:18to make their way to the quest marker
08:20only to find that the barrier which had
08:22previously been absent allowing the
08:23player to get to this area in the first
08:25place has reappeared they can't get back
08:28in and can't even fast travel to other
08:30areas of the map in order to escape
08:32they're trapped in an endless expanse
08:35strangely they stumble across some items
08:37in the ruins just outside the Outpost
08:39which weren't there before more evidence
08:42to the idea that the player isn't
08:44entirely alone out here now stuck with
08:46no other options than to continue
08:48exploring the Wasteland a few bits of
08:50Ambience seem to spook
08:58them so they whip out the pit boy and
09:00try to put some music on still nothing I
09:04just think it's a great character moment
09:05trying to drown out the spooky ambient
09:10sounds still stuck out of bounds the
09:13player slowly attempts to make their way
09:14around to the quest marker As the Wind
09:17blusters Through the Wasteland they
09:18notice some small objects in the
09:20distance and as they approach their
09:22radio picks up a signal a station called
09:24UVB 68 emitting static pulsing sounds
09:28and difficult to turn
09:55voices that name may sound familiar to
09:57you because it is very simil ilar to the
09:59real life shortwave broadcast UVB 76 aka
10:04the buzzer this shortwave station
10:06transmits a repeating buzzing sound all
10:08day every day occasionally interrupted
10:11by messages in Russian the exact purpose
10:13of this station is unclear the most
10:15theories Center on some kind of Russian
10:17military use this is very likely a
10:19direct reference being made here with
10:21the UVB 68 station and there are
10:24portions where you can even hear what
10:26sounds like the buzzer coming from the
10:27static of UV b68 even more interestingly
10:31other call signs have been transmitted
10:32from UVB 776 over the years one of which
10:35is y d g shch the string of characters
10:40we see at the end of The Player's
10:41mysterious M Johnson Quest it's as if
10:44this Quest is being directed by or
10:46correlated to this UVB 68 station while
10:50we're on the topic of the radio though I
10:52think it's probably relevant to bring up
10:54one of the more popular creepy pastas
10:56surrounding New Vegas the Lone Wolf
10:58Radio the Lone Wolf Radio is a location
11:01in the game a busted trailer filled with
11:03radio equipment graffiti on the trailer
11:05reads keep out everyone is gone I am all
11:08alone let it all end the creepy pasta
11:11goes that there was a cut quest line
11:13which involved the Lone Wolf who
11:15occupied the makeshift radio station
11:17broadcasting disturbing ramblings at 2:
11:19a.m. in game time and even sacrificing
11:22people on air the author of the creepy
11:25pasta gets the cut Quest working in
11:27their game and finds that the voice Act
11:29for these sections seems to include real
11:31sounds of murder and discover files
11:34within the game which show the victims
11:36all in all it's a pretty standard creepy
11:37pasta but its focus on Sinister radio
11:40frequencies feels significant to this
11:42series the player makes their way to
11:44those small objects and finds them to be
11:46a kind of field of more radio equipment
11:49of some kind actually I want to make a
11:51note of something here I don't have it
11:53written in the script because I wasn't
11:54sure the importance of it but the player
11:56ends up finding this smoking Barrel this
12:00uh trash can which seems like it's lit
12:02on fire they approach it and then it
12:05stops emitting smoke and I really wasn't
12:08sure what its importance was so I was
12:10going to skip over it initially but I
12:12was realizing while going back through
12:14this video is called signal and so the
12:17first part of the signal is this UVB
12:20station but it occurs to me that another
12:22signal this title could be referencing
12:24is this as a smoke signal that this is
12:27somehow directing the player on this
12:29path further continuing to wander the
12:31Wasteland and moving further toward
12:33their Quest marker they find a shack
12:35with a dead tree and a car outside
12:37entering the door to the shack they find
12:39themselves in a dark dilapidated wooden
12:42room the radio signal is
13:04inside the furnished Shack the player
13:07finds MREs books what looks to be
13:09surgical equipment and even a hunting
13:11shotgun in a bathtub which they can't
13:13pick up the inside of the bathroom
13:14appears to be flipped upside down tables
13:17and chairs a fixed to the ceiling in one
13:18of the most brilliant moments of the
13:20series so far the player picks up a
13:22physics object in the form of a
13:23children's play block a tool tip appears
13:26reading good now push Z to let go of the
13:29skull causing the player to drop the
13:31item in alarm after rooting through the
13:33shack and finding a finger they discover
13:35the items blackbox 1019 a.m. blackbox
13:391017 a.m. picture 10:15 a.m. and
13:43developed film after picking these items
13:45up a new point of interest is added to
13:47their quest with the title mjv code
13:50yourself smarter this name is a
13:52reference to a Quest from Van Beren the
13:54code name for black Isle Studios
13:56canceled version of Fallout 3 which
13:58inspired large part parts of Fallout New
14:00Vegas we'll be coming back to Van Beren
14:02but for now the quest it's referencing
14:03seems fairly innocuous if you had a low
14:06enough intelligence you could use a
14:07computer to fix a defect in your brain
14:10and increase your intelligence points
14:12after the player picks up a flare gun
14:13they find within the shack they look
14:15over the items they found blackbox 1019
14:18appears to be some set of blueprints or
14:20schematics 1017 is an audio recording
14:40as those in the comments have pointed
14:41out this is actually audio from the Gulf
14:43of cidra incident a territory dispute
14:46between Libya and the US in the Gulf of
14:48cidra which led to multiple air combat
14:50engagements between the US and Libyan
14:52pilots in 1981 and 1989 the audio we
14:55hear is the radio chatter between us
14:59as far as I've been able to identify an
15:01interesting incident to reference but
15:03it's difficult to make heads or Tales of
15:04its importance Within These videos when
15:06the liban government claimed the Gulf of
15:08cidra they called this border the line
15:10of death and perhaps this reference is
15:13telling the player that they have
15:14crossed their own virtual line of death
15:17an ominous warning of the dangers
15:19therein 1015 shows some kind of
15:21landscape from somewhere up high and
15:23developed film appears to be an image of
15:25radio towers at top of mountain which
15:26appears to be Black Mountain in Nevada
15:29which also appears as a location in the
15:31game without much else to discover
15:32within the Eerie cabin the player leaves
15:35two different loading screens appear in
15:36Rapid succession and the video
15:41ends the player Roots around the
15:44exterior of the shack finding various
15:46Loot and an ear this whole place is
15:48littered with dismembered pieces out
15:51back UVB 68 picks up again and they find
15:54some computers the terminals are filled
15:56with mostly errors but one opens to text
15:59about firearm maintenance in the game
16:01from here the player spots a large radio
16:03tower and heads toward it as they
16:05approach more Towers load in massive and
16:07derel a site reminiscent of Black
16:10Mountain another makeshift Camp has been
16:12set up inside one of the buildings
16:13nearby they find a hunk simply called
16:16remains which has a file not found eror
16:19and eat it okay I guess I'm not one to
16:22judge then more radio equipment inside a
16:25nearby camper which I can't help but
16:27feel evokes the Lone Wolf Radio
16:29continuing to wander the mountains after
16:31finding an area of scorched and IR
16:32radiated Rock the player attempts to
16:34make their way up the mountain further
16:36toward the towers only to be met with
16:39invisible barriers trying to navigate
16:41around them they discover a massive sort
16:43of fence or wall made of concrete rebar
16:46and barbed wire finding a break in the
16:48wall on the other side there's yet more
16:51blustering Wasteland in this Valley of
16:53sorts the player finds yet more ruins
16:56which leads them to an area called
16:57canyon wreckage also a place that can be
17:00found in the actual surface area of the
17:01game interestingly enough actually
17:04pretty near the Lone Wolf Radio trailer
17:06it's like this is an area where the two
17:08worlds are overlapping but the player is
17:10still trapped in their side of the
17:15Wasteland in the wreckage of the canyon
17:18the player finds a hatch that leads to a
17:20bunker they enter and descend the stairs
17:22reaching a large door at the bottom
17:24which opens into a sort of storage or
17:26computer room there are these strange
17:28small hatch doors in the walls and a bed
17:30roll with the item description well
17:32preserved sleeping bag hasn't been used
17:35in a while the player interacts with one
17:36of the terminals and tries to open a
17:38series of menus all with the title null
17:41meaning whatever text is supposed to be
17:42there if anything at all is missing or
17:45empty however clicking on a few of these
17:47null menus does reveal some information
17:50mostly photos which have been cropped
17:51too much to really make anything useful
17:53of except for what may be part of the
17:55Lucky 38 Casino from the game with some
17:58kind of aircraft CFT Trails above it
17:59planes missiles another appears to be an
18:02email loading it into the console
18:04crashes everything I knew he'd pull
18:05something like this and subject truck
18:08you sure this is the right truck and
18:10another showcasing some kind of cargo
18:12manifest which eagley viewers have
18:14pointed out seems to be that of the
18:15Platinum chip at the center of Fallout
18:17new Vegas's Story the player then
18:19stumbles across a briefcase which acts
18:21as if it will count as being stolen if
18:23you take it naturally the player picks
18:25it up and tries to use it this activates
18:27a ticking noise in a danger indication
18:30as if it might explode but it
18:50doesn't instead they're rewarded with XP
18:53like they've completed some part of a
18:55quest strange heading out of the bunker
18:58and back into to the Wasteland they
18:59noticed something altogether odd fish
19:03swimming through the air it's one of the
19:05more surreal moments in these videos
19:07floating by slowly maneuvering through
19:09the air reality Works differently here
19:12just as the player is shaking off this
19:14peculiar sight they stumble across a
19:16massive pit within the mountains
19:18continuing the episode's theme of
19:20descents into the Earth it
19:23ends the description of this video
19:25informs us that this footage was sent in
19:27from someone else and alleges to contain
19:29gameplay showing a strange glow Beyond a
19:31mountain Dr Bosch admits they can't
19:33really see it themselves the player in
19:35this clip does seem to be looking at
19:37something but with the quality of the
19:38video it's hard for me to tell either
19:40even turning up the brightness and
19:42contrast doesn't reveal much though it's
19:44possible to maybe make out a faint red
19:46glow what this video does reveal however
19:49is the possibility of other people's
19:51experiences with strange happenings in
19:53Fallout New Vegas being possible topics
19:55for future uploads on the channel one
19:57other thing of note is that this ridg
19:59line does have specific importance in
20:01New Vegas this is where you can find a
20:03crash UFO in the game here however it's
20:06empty for now though we're back to Dr
20:10Wasteland the player begins their
20:13descent into the inky darkness of the
20:15pit they discovered in ground the light
20:17of the flare gun does little to reveal
20:19what's at the bottom but eventually
20:20something does appear a light a radio or
20:24Black Box emitting static and a chess
20:26board on one side there's a place for a
20:28person to sit on the other a computer
20:31this feels as if it's evoking Maniac one
20:34the first computer to defeat a human
20:35opponent in a game of chess though
20:37technically a modified version of the
20:39game or perhaps Zach a type of computer
20:42intelligence in the Fallout games at one
20:44point the radio plays a series of Beeps
20:46in quick succession Morse code though
20:49it's difficult to make out using the
20:50spectrogram of the audio to transcribe
20:52it we can find the morse code reads this
20:55thing's Hollow it goes on forever and
20:58this is this is a quote from Arthur C
20:59Clark's novelization of 2001 A Space
21:02Odyssey spoken by David Bowman as he's
21:04entering the Stargate the full quote is
21:07the thing's Hollow it goes on forever
21:09and oh my God it's full of stars
21:12elsewhere in the massive darkness of
21:14this pit the player finds a door
21:16entering it they find themselves in a
21:18near pitch black cave system empty aside
21:21from a few drained whiskey bottles
21:30Dr Bosch entering this system of caves
21:33marks a decided shift in the series a
21:36new chapter while the Wasteland isn't
21:39gone for good for now it's going to be
21:41replaced with these claustrophobic Halls
21:43of stone while there's no doubt there's
21:45an eeriness to the expansive Wasteland
21:48there's something different about a cave
21:52it's like there's nowhere to run that
21:54there could be anything in the dark and
21:56getting lost out in the open is one
21:58thing but getting lost in here is
22:01altogether more terrifying this isn't my
22:03first time in this cave uh the first
22:06time was for a video that hasn't
22:08finished yet and I'm feeling now what I
22:11felt then that sure the fear of getting
22:14stuck or lost or trapped or that there's
22:17something in the darkness is scary but
22:20the scariest feeling is the thought in
22:23the back of your head the call of the
22:26Cave the explicable feeling the calling
22:30to just keep going forward just around
22:33the next bent then the next until
22:36there's nowhere to go with that in mind
22:39let's head back to Dr Bosch what the
22:44hell my God the player picks up a knife
22:47from the ground and then proceeds to
22:49stumble upon some mine carts with a
22:50radio inside playing some barely
22:52intelligible sounds as they continue
22:54exploring they come across an alarming
22:56sight blood stains and massive Gibbs AKA
23:00pieces of game Gore that have been
23:02scaled up rib cages bloody chunks of
23:04meat the discoveries continue with
23:06makeshift encampments heads on spikes
23:08and a crib with a blue first place
23:11ribbon the ambience in the cave gives
23:13the impression they're not alone not to
23:15mention all the evidence of occupancy
23:17computer consoles more encampments water
23:19pumps massive face statues sticking
23:22through the stone finding a sheer pit
23:24further into darkness the player is
23:26faced with the option to exit to null
23:28deeper into the cave system where
23:30disturbingly they find a body which
23:32matches perfectly to the player it even
23:35has the name Honus B in its inventory
23:38there's a note titled instructions set
23:40it up you will know where unknown
23:43friends will come to you ominous nearby
23:46another pit invites the player to enter
23:48tunnel to null which leads them yet
23:50further into the cave this time
23:51appearing a little bit more like an
23:53organized M shaft wooden supports and
23:56metal gates a final Doorway to n brings
23:59them into a room the cave walls giving
24:02way to artificially lit wallpaper it's
24:05nondescript some raised platforms doors
24:08leading to bathrooms a counter of some
24:10kind it's unclear what this space is
24:12even for if anything at all lights with
24:15no Source illuminate the room it appears
24:17to be one of the test cells in New Vegas
24:19essentially Dev levels within the game's
24:21files through another doorway in this
24:23room the player finds themselves
24:25descending a staircase attempting to
24:27open the door at the Bott
24:29the video corrupts for a moment then
24:34ends at the beginning of this video it
24:36almost appears as if the game has spit
24:38the player back out after a brief glitch
24:41they find themselves back in a stairwell
24:43half their health missing and their
24:45items scattered with no way back up the
24:47door at the bottom opens into another
24:49room similar to the one from the
24:51previous video but brighter and more
24:53furnished like some kind of Unfinished
24:55dining hall restaurant or bar a mural of
24:58blacked out faces is painted and cracked
25:00on the wall next to the bar sitting at
25:02one of the tables they are met with a
25:04plate full of meat and acry nitrol and a
25:07book titled trimorphic proteno the book
25:10gives an error message in the pit boy
25:12but does increase the character's speech
25:13acry nital is a kind of chemical used in
25:16the creation of plastics known for
25:18having a garlic or onion smell to it and
25:20the book is the title of a gnostic text
25:23split into three descents in the voice
25:25of barbalo a deity which appears in many
25:27ancient Gnostic Christian works if
25:30you're not super familiar with
25:31gnosticism we'll talk about it later so
25:33don't worry the player continues to
25:35explore this strange underground
25:37structure entering into the blinding
25:39light behind one door it leads to yet
25:41more increasingly dilapidated rooms at
25:44the end the player can see some kind of
25:46skeletal figure but getting too close
25:48exposes the character to an immense
25:50amount of radiation so for now they back
25:52off in another room two symbols are
25:54found these belong to what are called
25:56the hobo signs language of symbols used
25:59to communicate information about
26:00noteworthy locations to other hobos
26:03whether these were actually ever
26:04commonly used among this population is
26:06debatable but these symbols do appear in
26:08new Vegas's game files and here they are
26:11on the wall to the best of my research
26:13this means something to the effect of
26:14hold your tongue nothing is here
26:17doubtful eventually the player makes
26:19their way into what seems to be the
26:21interior of a house the architecture is
26:24strange areas flipped upside down
26:26doorways blocked by radios the player
26:28opens a computer the terminal filled
26:30with more null tabs leading to what
26:32appears at first to just be gibberish
26:35then passages from Melville's Moby Dick
26:37and what appears to be exerpts from
26:39boris's three versions of Judas we'll
26:42definitely be coming back to the
26:43significance of these texts but for now
26:45I want to actually focus on this
26:47gibberish it's actually formatted in a
26:49very specific way a way that seems to
26:51replicate the website the library of
26:53Babel itself based on another short
26:55story by bores again we'll talk more in
26:58depth about it later but the concept is
27:00that of a near endless Library which
27:02contains books filled with what are
27:03believed to be every single combination
27:05of letters and punctuation possible
27:08though this means most of the volumes
27:09contain a meaningless mish mash of
27:12letters it also means that somewhere in
27:14there you can find every book ever
27:16written as well as every book ever
27:18written but off by one word or one
27:20letter it's a bit like the monkeys at a
27:22typewriter hypothetical the website
27:24Library of.in creates a virtual version
27:27of this Library and the text appears in
27:29a format very similar to that shown in
27:31these computers I think the idea here is
27:33that these exerpts from Melville or
27:35bores are a part of an endless Library
27:38like this with the chaos occasionally
27:39bubbling up with something intelligible
27:41or even previously written before being
27:44swallowed again into the jumble of the
27:45alphabet the choices of literature are
27:48important to the themes of the story but
27:49that reference to this infinite random
27:51library is the main takeaway I want to
27:54stick with here finally the last bit of
27:55text appears again to just be random
27:57letters but its formatting suggests that
27:59this may actually be an encoded message
28:02and it is using a rot 13 Cipher we can
28:04find that it's actually a passage from
28:06another Gnostic text yoo's the Blessed
28:09again we'll be coming back to all of
28:11these but this series is so dense with
28:12things like this it's best not to dwell
28:14on them until we've gone all the way
28:16through after exploring this strange
28:17house the player moves back to the
28:19lounge area and sits at the bar
28:35the player enters a door from the lounge
28:37leading to a series of pool and
28:39showering areas another leads to a
28:41heavily locked door they attempt to use
28:43a console command to unlock it causing a
28:45jolt and more Health to be taken
28:53away no cheats allowed here it seems
28:56checking the map it's been overlaid with
28:58this seven-pointed starlike flowery
29:01symbol a heptagram hellish colors
29:03surrounding it and more doors lead to
29:05yet more doors after walking through a
29:07catwalk in Pitch darkness and glimpsing
29:10some kind of perhaps radio tower in the
29:12dark the player finds a key in an
29:14industrial looking Zone and is now able
29:16to unlock the Fortified door inside
29:18things seem a bit worse for wear and
29:20further in we find a tunnel stretching
29:22out into some kind of underground sci-fi
29:25adjacent navigational area through a
29:27window series of nuclear missiles are
29:29stored beneath the Earth nearby oddly
29:32there's a door with one rad roach in a
29:34white void after being hit it falls in
29:38loop the player then finds themselves in
29:40a series of hallways reminiscent of the
29:42Gamora hotel in the regular game this
29:44area seems to defy logic in similar ways
29:47to places we've seen before like upside
29:49down rooms the player takes a rest in
29:51one of the Beds which briefly gives us
29:53the in-game date of 12
29:569879 a clearly impossible possible date
29:58after briefly encountering a static
30:00emitting radio one of the doors opens by
30:03itself cautiously entering the player
30:05finds a bathtub full of dark liquid
30:07inviting them to once again enter null
30:10they're taken to a series of halls and
30:12rooms that feel reminiscent of a
30:14hospital or Asylum though most of the
30:16rooms are filled with bathroom stalls
30:17and red dice when the player finds a
30:20pool of red liquid in the corner of a
30:22dilapidated room they drink it they are
30:25definitely going to get some kind of
30:26disease peering into an inex accessible
30:28doorway the player finds cages and
30:30medical equipment cluttering the room
30:32with some kind of body laid out on a
30:34medical table as the player attempts to
30:36get a good look a sound catches their
30:42hall the sound of soft but quickly
30:45approaching footsteps frantically the
30:47player runs in the opposite direction as
30:48the footsteps continue gaining
30:56ground and the video
31:00the description of this video reads June
31:04185823 scraping the hard drive managed
31:06to salvage this judging by the date we
31:09get the idea that this footage is from
31:10over a decade ago it's unclear if all
31:13the footage we've seen so far is that
31:14old or if it's just this bit the
31:16description also seems to tell us that
31:18something has happened to Dr Bosch's
31:20hard drive and the fate of any further
31:22videos is at this point unclear the
31:24video itself appears to be the opening
31:26screens for Fallout New Vegas but
31:28there's a very important detail here the
31:30black Isle Studios and interplay logos
31:33black Isle Studios and publisher
31:34interplay were the team working on Van
31:36Beren that earlier attempt at Fallout 3
31:39which would Inspire parts of New Vegas
31:40that I mentioned earlier they did not
31:43however actually work on New Vegas it
31:45does still seem to end on the title
31:46screen for New Vegas so it's really
31:48unclear if this is supposed to be some
31:50alternate lost version of New Vegas
31:52created by black house Studios or a
31:54strange mishmash of the two games or an
31:57alternate un ierse either way it ends
31:59just as quickly as it
32:01began the description of this video
32:04confirms our suspicions on the fate of
32:06future video captures a vid or two left
32:08to salvage the rest are Beyond repair so
32:11something happened to Dr Bosch's
32:12computer which corrupted much of the
32:13footage that was recorded let's see
32:16what's left the player has made their
32:17way out of the hospital area where they
32:19were being chased and back to the hotel
32:21hallways things within this area
32:23continue to be reality bending with one
32:25room even featuring massive oversized
32:27furniture like everything has been
32:29scaled up while wandering the Halls the
32:31player continuously passes various
32:33paintings on the walls I've been able to
32:35identify most of them which appear in
32:37this video they all seem to be paintings
32:39from Francisco Goya specifically goya's
32:42black paintings a series of pieces Goya
32:44created seemingly without any intent on
32:46ever sharing with the public in the
32:48later part of his life the most famous
32:50of these probably being Saturn devouring
32:52his son though none of these pieces were
32:54ever given names by Goya himself the
32:56ones I've been able to identify this
32:58video specifically are a pilgrimage to
33:00the Fountain of San Isidro as Modia the
33:03dog and witch's Sabbath because of the
33:06private nature of these paintings there
33:07isn't much we know for sure about them
33:09other than that they seem to reflect
33:11goo's own bitter and pessimistic Outlook
33:13during this time due to his
33:14deteriorating health and the political
33:16and societal unrest at the time they all
33:18seem to portray moments of great Terror
33:20or misery I should also probably mention
33:23that I am not an art historian and this
33:25is all coming from very preliminary
33:27research on the topic my sources for
33:29which will be in a document below I do
33:31think it's important to note though
33:32because art and literature have
33:34continued to be important references
33:36throughout this series and these
33:37paintings will play a part in my larger
33:39analysis of the series later the picture
33:41frames around these Halls also contain a
33:43painting which I am unable to identify
33:45but appears to show a landscape at
33:47Sunset with a cross silhouetted against
33:49the Horizon and behind an inaccessible
33:51curtain there's another difficult to
33:53discern painting and a newspaper
33:54headline something about an
33:56investigation of some kind but it's
33:58really hard to make out from this
33:59distance we'll be coming back to this
34:01newspaper clipping but if any of you can
34:02identify the paintings I wasn't let me
34:04know in the comments eventually the
34:06player finds a large metallic door which
34:08leads to what appears to be some kind of
34:10medical area at the center of which is a
34:13large pod inside a skeletal corpse lies
34:15in a pile of its own viscera I believe
34:18this pod is a model used in the game as
34:20a virtual reality pod the player takes
34:22out the briefcase they collected all the
34:24way back in the video ground and tosses
34:26it at the Pod this gives us a message
34:28from the game the M Johnson Quest has
34:32been completed interesting I must share
34:34the sentiment with cometer Alexis
34:36electronic such an intuitive Quest that
34:38was without any more Direction the
34:40player finds themselves entering another
34:42doorway this time to an elevator in two
34:45n which leads them back into a Cave
34:47System this time filled with heavier
34:49vegetation here they find another body
34:51which looks eerily similar to them this
34:53time with just the name null then
34:56another body then an entire pile it's
35:00completely strange and unsettling are
35:02these threats aimed toward the player a
35:04glitch more evidence of some kind of
35:06crossed realities previous players who
35:09found themselves in the same position as
35:11Dr Bosch further into the cave they find
35:14one more doorway pure light radiating
35:16from it entering null yet
35:22again we've almost reached the end just
35:25two more videos for this video the
35:27description tells us that Dr BOS is
35:29still looking for more Clips the player
35:31finds themselves in a void full of
35:33floating platforms disconnected bits of
35:35rooms a skeleton stands on one nearby
35:38using an invisible walkway they make
35:40their way over to the skeleton which
35:41appears like a living NPC but doesn't
35:44talk hopping over to a glowing doorway
35:46the player enters another threshold
35:48through here they're back in the surface
35:50Wasteland surrounded by the dilapidated
35:52ruins nearby the radio towers from a few
35:54episodes ago it's dark almost too dark
35:57to see something not too distant bangs
35:59to the ground and kicks up dust
36:02terrifying Ambience begins then
36:24closer the terrified player finds an
36:26entrance to a just in time to
36:31escape here the player discovers the
36:34underground wreckage of a kind of
36:35Railway along with a bag of Gore and a
36:37skeleton in some kind of makeshift camp
36:39with a single shotgun taking this
36:41welcome new form of Defense the player
36:44exits through a gate into the wastes and
36:46finds themselves outside again at top a
36:48mountain in another small encampment
36:50here the player finds another corpse
36:52titled last men from which they take a
36:54revolver and though they seem to have
36:56escaped whatever Danger they had
36:57encountered by the radio towers the
36:59wastes would not leave the player in
37:21long taking into account the description
37:24of this video and the opening few
37:26seconds featuring a cloudy red sky and a
37:28high-pitched buzzing it seems pretty
37:30clear that while partially recovered
37:32this video file is still pretty
37:33corrupted the player is surrounded Again
37:35by radio towers and Mountain walls
37:38scattered lanterns barely function to
37:40light up anything a howling wind whips
37:42through the canyon cutting through the
37:44corruption the player is now inside the
37:46ruins of some kind of dilapidated
37:47skyscraper throughout this video we keep
37:50cutting between the interior and
37:51exterior of what appears to be a ruined
37:54City sagging highrises and crumbling
37:56concrete as they continue to explore a
37:59garbled radio plays it's hard to
38:01distinguish exactly what is being said
38:03as it seems to switch between multiple
38:05channels but I've done my best to
38:07subtitle what I can make
38:09out I guess I must seem very very cold
38:15blooded about this but I don't recall
38:18ever having been very
38:26installation all its purpose is to
38:28promote interest and to provide training
38:32in military communication procedures
38:37and regardless of who uh is the sponsor
38:43I don't think anybody working in that
38:45time and the remot never thought that it
38:47would blow up into the kind of thing
38:50did Senator booster has sponsored and
38:56investigation if the Senator will stop
38:59evading the question I have asked him
39:03some kind of Investigation presumably
39:06high stakes involving the military and
39:08high-ranking government officials at
39:09this point I'm not entirely sure what
39:11the origins of these audio clips are but
39:13it feels linked if only thematically to
39:15the newspaper article scene in pod as
39:18the video continues cutting rapidly due
39:20to the files corruption we see a brief
39:22moment where the player seems to be
39:23hiding from something unseen the game
39:26ominously warning C at the top of the
39:28screen we haven't really seen anything
39:30too explicit as of yet but it seems
39:32pretty clear at this point from the
39:33footsteps to the Monstrous screeching to
39:35now this that there's something in the
39:38Wasteland pursuing our player inside one
39:40of these apocalyptic buildings the
39:42player wanders seemingly on edge as they
39:45explore their map is tinted a deep red
39:48picking up a stray key they come across
39:50yet more paintings one is a portion of
39:52the Bosch painting Garden of Earthly
39:54Delights specifically a portion of the
39:56work depicting hell which appears eerily
39:58similar to the environment which the
40:00player is currently inhabiting another
40:02painting they discover is the Son of Man
40:04by Renee mcre I'll come back to the
40:06painting analysis later interestingly we
40:09also get a closer look at the under
40:11investigation newspaper the full
40:13headline reads house under investigation
40:15Rob CO's future uncertain this is a
40:18reference to the character of Mr House
40:20the founder of Robotics Mega Corp robco
40:23in the Fallout universe and an important
40:25character to the plot of Fallout New
40:26Vegas on this page there's also a
40:28reference to strange lights over parump
40:31a real place in Nevada but one that
40:33doesn't really appear in New Vegas aside
40:35from a reference in unused graffiti it
40:37feels like it's alluding to UFOs but
40:40also perhaps the weird glow video from
40:42earlier though there's a lot to chew on
40:44the video doesn't end on such a relaxed
40:46note another cut shoves us into more
40:48dark ruins this time Ablaze as
40:51horrifying Ambience plays suddenly
40:53something jumps from the darkness the
40:55player fires and the video ends and
40:58that's the latest video on the channel
41:00as of now there is one more secret this
41:02video has to offer though running the
41:04audio of the episode through spectrogram
41:06analysis we can find that some of the
41:08glitched audio actually creates some
41:10images the first just being some kind of
41:13cute smiley face design and the second
41:15being what appears to be Mr House
41:18stepping down from an airplane as far as
41:20I've been able to find these are the
41:21only spectrogram images in the series so
41:23far but as more videos come out it's
41:26worth to keep in mind for the future as
41:28of now though that's the end
41:59the mysteries of the Wasteland only seem
42:01farther Out Of Reach but we've been
42:03given an awful lot to chew on the only
42:05thing left to do is to try and tie these
42:07threads together and see what we come up
42:09with on the other side but truly
42:11understanding the complex web of
42:13information we've been given is a
42:14journey all of its own so let's start
42:17trekking this series is dense I try not
42:19to overexplained in these breakdowns but
42:22with Dr Bosch it's like something new
42:24every minute to give ourselves an easier
42:26time with our analysis let's start
42:28simple the player who we can safely
42:30assume is Dr Bosch discovers that the
42:33invisible barrier keeping them from
42:34Crossing out to the other side of the
42:36Mojave Outpost is gone and they can
42:38simply jump over sharing this discovery
42:40on some kind of outside Forum someone
42:42named Mark suggests that they record it
42:44and show their fellow users from here
42:46the Forum discussions presumably
42:48continue as the player records more and
42:50explores further after being unable to
42:53re-enter into the surface world of the
42:54game there's nothing else to do but
42:56continue wandering ing Out of Bounds at
42:58some point I would wager due to
43:00something they ran into in the game
43:02their hard drive is corrupted and leaves
43:04the player with only pieces of their
43:06documented Journey the description of
43:07the channel calls these uploads old vids
43:10and considering the movie maker Vibe of
43:11the first one and the date given to the
43:13recovered intro recording as 2012 it's
43:16possible these are all from that same
43:18period though none of this is confirmed
43:20and the reason these are being uploaded
43:21or perhaps re-uploaded now is anyone's
43:24guess so that's what's happening outside
43:27the world of the game itself what about
43:29inside Dr Bosch's unusual copy of
43:31Fallout New Vegas it gets weird in ways
43:34I haven't even mentioned yet subtle
43:36details that you may gloss over on a
43:38first watch many things that I missed
43:40which were brought to my attention via
43:41reading the comments the element
43:43probably most obvious is the connection
43:45this series makes to Van Beren the first
43:48two entries in the Fallout series were
43:49created by black Isle Studios and
43:51interplay Productions and work
43:53eventually began on a Fallout 3 code
43:55named Van Beren this game much like New
43:57Vegas would take place in the Mojave
43:59Desert but the majority of its story and
44:01characters were completely different
44:03eventually though black Isle Studios
44:04would shut down and the Fallout series
44:06would instead be handed to Bethesda
44:08softworks who created an entirely new
44:10Fallout 3 Bethesda would then publish
44:12Fallout New Vegas developed by obsidian
44:14games New Vegas would end up
44:16incorporating elements from Vann
44:18including the main setting of the Mojave
44:20this history is important because
44:22there's a special connection there
44:23between venan and New Vegas but New
44:25Vegas was not developed by black Isle or
44:28interplay which makes it all the
44:29stranger that in that intro video we see
44:32the splash screens for black Isle and
44:34interplay the title doesn't even say
44:36Fallout 3 it still says New Vegas and
44:39the game we see is very much the
44:41Bethesda style RPG not the isometric
44:43turn-based game that was planned for
44:45vanen so what does this mean well along
44:48with other inconsistencies we'll begin
44:50to see it almost feels like we're
44:52peaking into an alternate universe where
44:54black Isle did develop the third Fallout
44:56game and both Fallout 3 and New Vegas
44:59have been combined for more vanan
45:02connections we have the direct name drop
45:05of the code yourself smarter Quest from
45:06Van Beren and the quest name m Johnson
45:09President Martin Van Bern from which the
45:11project derived its code name served
45:13with vice president Richard M Johnson
45:16and then there's the items tons of items
45:18show up in this playthrough that
45:20shouldn't be here weapons and text from
45:23Fallout 3 or DLCs at one point the
45:25player finds a syringe Ty morphine this
45:28was the original name but the actual
45:30name of this item in game is med X the
45:32name was changed due to censorship so
45:35why is it here little details like this
45:37are scattered throughout the world which
45:39seem to combine other games in the
45:40series or games that never shipped all
45:42together then there's the little things
45:44which can be extrapolated into even
45:46stranger connections like the statue
45:48heads found in the caves which have been
45:50connected to the dunwick mystery in
45:52Fallout 3 and 4 which directly
45:54references HP Lovecraft and some kind of
45:56secret of cosmic entity and what about
45:58all this stuff surrounding Mr house he
46:00shows up in newspaper clippings and
46:02spectrograms and his Lucky 38 hotel and
46:04casino appears in a photo with what may
46:06be missile streaking across the sky
46:09above it and in even stranger detail is
46:11where the Lucky 38 doesn't appear though
46:13the quality makes it difficult to
46:15discern the splash screen for New Vegas
46:17in the intro video appears to be missing
46:19something crucial the one we actually
46:21see in the game includes the Vegas
46:23Skyline in the background very
46:25prominently featuring The Lucky 30 38 in
46:27intro it's missing so what happened to
46:30Mr House in the Lucky 38 in the story of
46:33the real game Mr house is an incredibly
46:35successful Mega Corp owner who protects
46:37Vegas from the destruction of the Great
46:38War allowing the strip as well as
46:40himself and the Lucky 38 to survive with
46:43the imagery of the missiles overhead the
46:44newspaper declaring him under
46:46investigation and his fate uncertain and
46:48the missing Lucky 38 it's almost like in
46:50this alternate version of the game The
46:52Lucky 38 didn't survive the war but what
46:55does that actually even mean for the
46:57series what is this mish mash of
46:59different games Concepts and changes the
47:01other possibility I see these details
47:03spelling out is a little less
47:05straightforward that this is a regular
47:07copy of New Vegas but outside the bounds
47:09of the game is almost a Purgatory of
47:12sorts a Purgatory for the game the
47:16influences the changes the origins what
47:18could have been where scrapped Concepts
47:21and unimplemented ideas rot outside the
47:23confines of the neatly packaged world
47:25the developers meant for us to see more
47:27than a concrete place a graveyard of
47:30creativity given a physical space as the
47:32player explores in a way like the Lone
47:34Wolf Radio Creepy Pasta an exploration
47:36of the darker side of content which is
47:38cut from the game during development the
47:40reason we know so much about venen is
47:42because eventually the design documents
47:44for the game were leaked giving the
47:46community a huge amount of details about
47:48this game that never was the story
47:51characters gameplay environments though
47:53many of these documents were unfinished
47:54or placeholders in some some ways the
47:57series almost feels like sifting through
47:59the documents themselves disperate
48:01pieces of information some familiar and
48:03some new trying in vain to Cobble
48:06together a clearer picture of what the
48:07game was actually going to be it's a
48:09search for answers in incomplete
48:11information and this I think is The Core
48:14theme of the series and it's only one of
48:16many connections this series makes which
48:18explores it and as I go through more of
48:20them you'll start to see just how strong
48:22this theme is throughout to start one
48:25commenter points out another connection
48:27which might finally help us understand
48:29the Strange World our player resides in
48:32Mad God is a film by effects artist Phil
48:34tippet it combines stop motion
48:36liveaction puppetry and computer effects
48:38into an incredible hellish journey and
48:41there are some similarities here that
48:43feel too coincidental the story follows
48:46a character known as the Assassin
48:48dressed in similar Garb to our player
48:50descending into an Ever devolving pit of
48:53brutal and horrific worlds transporting
48:55a ticking briefcase of explosives the
48:57Assassin Witnesses constant Horrors
48:59Beyond Comprehension seems fairly
49:01similar right there are even more
49:03connections to be made as well we find
49:05out later that the Assassin is just one
49:07of many near identical figures sent on
49:09the same Mission calling to mind the
49:11identical bodies we see in Dr Bosch the
49:14film deals heavily with the imagery and
49:16aftermath of nuclear war and even
49:18includes a character referred to as the
49:19last man which we also see in Dr Bosch
49:22both likely references to nich's last
49:25man concept the archetypal passive
49:27nihilist and antithesis of the Uber
49:29mench now I don't think the Dr Bosch
49:31videos are a direct adaptation of Phil
49:33tippit's film but I think it's very
49:35likely that some of these references and
49:37Inspirations are deliberate and
49:39understanding mad God's themes may help
49:41us understand some of the themes present
49:43in Dr Bosch Mad God seems to deal a lot
49:46with post World War I and 2 philosophy
49:48the nihilism and despair that came from
49:50grappling with the horrors of global
49:51Warfare in the 20th century and the
49:54existential threat that nuclear weapons
49:55introduced into the world world and the
49:57questioning of the social and power
49:59structures previously taken for granted
50:01throughout the film characters all seem
50:03to be motivated with finding a solution
50:05to the endless chaotic cruelty the world
50:07of the movie is filled with for some
50:09that's simply destroying it believing
50:11there is no solution other than ending
50:13the meaningless suffering for good for
50:15others it's trying to rebirth a new
50:17universe in the hopes that the
50:18opportunity will bring a better life for
50:20those after the question at the core of
50:22these characters Minds is whether it's
50:24possible to find meaning in the universe
50:26or if it's all senseless random cruelty
50:29and it's this focus on finding answers
50:31in a callous World filled with
50:33nihilistic cruelty and passivity to that
50:35cruelty which I think holds the most
50:37relevance to Dr Bosch the wasteland out
50:39of bounds is filled with danger and
50:41terrifying imagery many times calling
50:43direct parallels to the hellish worlds
50:45of Mad God and just as terrifying as it
50:48is it at times can also feel senseless
50:50and confusing it asks us to decode
50:52messages and try to unravel its
50:54Mysteries but are there any answers to
50:56be found this theme is further explored
50:59with Dr Bosch's many literary and
51:01religious inclusions I talked before
51:03about the multiple Gnostic texts which
51:06appear throughout the series so what is
51:08gnosticism well I am again not an expert
51:10in ancient heretical Christian history
51:12but a simple way to put it is a set of
51:15religious and philosophical ideas which
51:17emerged in certain Jewish and early
51:18Christian sects in the first and second
51:20century thanks Wikipedia it's a very
51:23esoteric and spiritual school of thought
51:25believing the material world to be
51:27inherently corrupt and abhorent created
51:29by a malevolent Lesser God while a
51:31higher perfect God and spiritual plain
51:33exists outside the material world and
51:35only by shedding the material world can
51:37a soul be saved something the Gnostic
51:39beliefs and writing seem very focused on
51:42is the search or uncovering of secret
51:44truths or knowledge finding
51:46Enlightenment and spiritual Insight via
51:48uncovering hidden wisdom it seems like
51:51no accident to me that the series seems
51:53invested in bringing these writings up
51:55again and again especially writings like
51:57trimorphic proteno a cosmological text
52:00coming from the voice of barbalo the
52:02first emanation of God sharing with us
52:04truths of creation of the universe it's
52:07this search for a larger answer a truth
52:09in the corrupt world and the series
52:11continues this exploration of finding
52:13spiritual truth with its inclusion of
52:15boris's three versions of Judas this
52:18story follows a man who presents his own
52:20hypothesis on the nature of Judas in the
52:22Bible that without Judas Jesus would not
52:24have been led to his death to the
52:26Redemption of humanity his beliefs
52:28evolve until he's convinced that
52:29ultimately it was not Jesus who made the
52:31ultimate human sacrifice for mankind but
52:33was instead Judas remembered as the
52:36ultimate traitor and turning away his
52:37own salvation he was damned so that the
52:40rest of humanity could be redeemed to
52:42limit all that happened to the agony of
52:44one afternoon on the cross would be
52:46Blasphemous and he goes on to say that
52:48Judas was the true human incarnation of
52:51God God became a man completely a man to
52:54the point of infamy a man to the point
52:56of being being reprehensible all the way
52:58to the abyss in order to save us he
53:00could have chosen any of the Destinies
53:02which together weave the uncertain web
53:04of History he chose an Infamous Destiny
53:07he was Judas this discovery drives the
53:10character mad believing this knowledge
53:12to be something intended by God to
53:13remain secret and that by revealing it
53:16he had committed a grand blasphemy it
53:18calls to mind Gnostic texts like the
53:20Gospel of Judas which claims that Judas
53:22was the only one who truly understood
53:25Jesus's message while the other
53:26disciples foolishly worshiped the Lesser
53:28malevolent God who created the world
53:30which I mentioned earlier so more
53:32stories included in the series which
53:34contend with the uncovering of a hidden
53:36truth an especially dark and
53:37metaphysical one at that and it's not
53:39even the only work of bores that does
53:41this that is referenced in the series
53:43hell that's even in this collection of
53:46stories two other literary Works found
53:48within the series seem to exemplify this
53:50theme even more precisely for one Moby
53:53Dick which feels like a self-evident
53:55inclusion in a story about a perhaps
53:57doomed search for truth in chaos but
53:59boris's other work being referenced the
54:01library of Babel seems to be a perfect
54:04Showcase in the story the universe is a
54:07library filled with books which contain
54:09every possible combination of letters
54:11which could be held within one a near
54:13infinite Archive of all knowledge for
54:15the most part though the books are
54:16meaningless random assortments of
54:19letters which are in no way discernable
54:21one could spend their entire life in the
54:23Library without ever finding a coherent
54:25sentence and many do and when the people
54:27who inhabit this universe die they are
54:29lifted over the railings of the
54:30staircase of the incomprehensibly
54:32Towering library and thrown into the
54:34void falling for what may be an eternity
54:37in life they try in vain to find the
54:39answers to Life's most important
54:41questions prophecies which tell the
54:43entire future the solutions to the most
54:46difficult philosophical problems for all
54:48these exist within the library but so do
54:50false prophecies or Works which end just
54:53before the answer and the likelihood of
54:55anyone ever finding even one coherent
54:57manuscript is near zero centuries of
55:00librarians try to find meaning in the
55:02expanse of Randomness or even just the
55:04path to find meaning we hear of
55:06philosophical movements coming and going
55:08belief systems exerting power and
55:10eventually falling all motivated to find
55:13the answers to their world in the pages
55:15of these near endless books obviously
55:17the universe of this Library can be read
55:19as a mirror of our own but as it relates
55:21to Dr Bosch it seems almost too perfect
55:24of an encapsulation of our theme the
55:26search for truth in chaos but what about
55:28the paintings heronimus Bosch goya's
55:31black paintings Renee mcgree here I
55:33think the theme is Advanced twofold on
55:36the one hand they continue this idea of
55:37a disturbing and cruel world Bosch's
55:40depictions of religious imagery are
55:41especially noteworthy for their
55:43disturbing and horrific portrayals
55:45particularly of Hell goya's Black
55:47paintings are similar though in a
55:49decidedly less Fantastical fashion these
55:51paintings influenced by his Bleak
55:53Outlook and the personal suffering he
55:55experienced at this point in his life
55:56portray moments of great Terror misery
55:59and cruelty they paint the most haunting
56:01parts of the human experience but it's
56:03not only that their inclusion in my view
56:06is once again being used to draw us to
56:08this Core theme Goya created these
56:10paintings in the privacy of his home on
56:12the walls themselves he never gave them
56:14titles at least not that we know of he
56:16never discussed their meaning they were
56:18private not created with the intention
56:20of being seen by the outside world this
56:22has left an enduring mystery to these
56:24paintings no doubt ENC Ed by their
56:27Darkness their maab nature in their own
56:30way the paintings have become a search
56:32for answers within a horrifying world
56:34where viewers peer into the haunting
56:36scenes which Goya painted and try to
56:38unearth the meanings behind them some
56:40insight into goya's mind or the world in
56:42which he lived as for the son of man
56:45I'll leave this quote from mcgr himself
56:47on the painting everything we see hides
56:49another thing we always want to see what
56:51is hidden by what we see there is an
56:54interest in that which is hidden and
56:55which the visible does not show us this
56:58interest can take the form of a quite
57:00intense feeling a sort of conflict one
57:02might say between the visible that is
57:04hidden and the visible that is present I
57:07think the literary Works paintings and
57:09films which are referenced in this
57:11series are very intentional and serve to
57:13reinforce both the central theme of the
57:15series and the world in which it takes
57:17place the Wasteland we see in Dr Bosch's
57:19videos portrays a bleak World riddled
57:22with corpses body parts chaos and danger
57:25ruminating in the cancer game which
57:26inspired it left unfinished and
57:28discarded only to be picked apart for
57:30scraps it's hellish in the most
57:32traditional sense a combination of
57:34herous Bosch's Fantastical hellscapes
57:37and the post-war industrial nightmare of
57:39Mad God but in all the ways this world
57:42is horrific and dangerous it is also
57:44chaotic and obscure very rarely does
57:47there seem to be a Rhyme or Reason to
57:49the events that take place the quests
57:51are the impossible rooms and things are
57:53clearly broken defective are missing
57:55menus glitches corrupted data it can
57:57feel random and senseless but in the end
58:00the player can't help but continue
58:01exploring it's the only World they have
58:03left to explore and as the audience we
58:05can't help but continue to watch at
58:07times it feels like there's some
58:09intention in the chaos some method to
58:11the madness maybe some unseen entity
58:14guiding us or some source to everything
58:16that's here but sometimes not and the
58:18question Dr Bosch seems to ask us as all
58:21of the references it includes did before
58:23it is this in a world which is r random
58:26chaotic even cruel seemingly meaningless
58:29can you find meaning is the search for
58:31truth or answers inherently doomed are
58:34we destined to go down with the ship
58:36fall into madness or an endless void in
58:38our quest to find intentionality or
58:40purpose in Randomness this question
58:43could of course be applied to a lot of
58:45the relevant Concepts which surround
58:46this series reading too deeply into an
58:48artist life through their art something
58:50we do see at times in the web series
58:52Community or perhaps intense interest in
58:54putting together the remains of a game
58:56which has long been dead or the enduring
58:59mystery of a cryptic Russian radio
59:01broadcast which remains unsolved but I
59:04would not limit these themes to just a
59:05few applications these questions have
59:08been ruminated on since time in Memorial
59:10and exist at the very core of Humanity's
59:12drive to continue creating in the face
59:14of the universe if you'll allow me to be
59:17a little dramatic and I think what is so
59:19intriguing about Dr Bosch is it's not
59:21just about finding the answers to the
59:22mysteries in the game Dr Bosch's videos
59:25ask us to think about the search itself
59:27what the drive to find meaning says
59:29about ourselves and ask us the question
59:32whether any meaning can be found at
59:36all I want to end this video with a sort
59:39of call to action as it pertains to this
59:41series I am not an expert in any of the
59:44things I've discussed here I hope that I
59:45haven't messed up anything too badly but
59:48I am not an art historian literary
59:50Professor philosophy major or even a
59:52super hardcore Fallout player I am sure
59:54that there is a lot of stuff in the
59:56series which I missed or connections
59:58still to be made and as far as I can
59:59tell it's still in the works more
01:00:01entries are yet to come and in fact
01:00:03there is a new video that was released
01:00:06literally hours after I finished this
01:00:09video so you have something new to go
01:00:11watch right now and I think this is the
01:00:13perfect time for everyone out there who
01:00:15may be in the comments ready to correct
01:00:16a mistake I've made because this is
01:00:18exactly your type of thing the type of
01:00:20thing you know all about or are great at
01:00:22solving to go check out the series for
01:00:24yourself and join the erosion in
01:00:26community over there unraveling its
01:00:28Mysteries really I wanted to make this
01:00:30video to get more eyes on it because it
01:00:33may not be my area of expertise but I
01:00:35know there are people out there for whom
01:00:37this is exactly what they've been
01:00:38looking for thank you all for watching
01:00:41if you like this kind of thing you can
01:00:42support me on patreon for only two bucks
01:00:45and get access to a bunch of behind the
01:00:46scenes commentary tracks exclusive
01:00:48reviews and more also the song I made
01:00:50for this video Lone Wolf Radio is
01:00:52available on Spotify and pretty much
01:00:54everywhere else along with free
01:00:55downloads on my patreon no subscription
01:00:57required thank you all again and I'll
