00:00mods believe it or not they're quite a
00:03controversial Topic in Monster Hunter
00:05and it looks like Capcom has finally
00:07said something about them mods have in a
00:10way always been a part of Monster Hunter
00:13as players have been modifying the games
00:15for various different reasons going as
00:18far back as some of the oldest titles in
00:21the series that being said I would say
00:24that modding has only ever gained
00:26relevance in the Monster Hunter
00:27community at large once Monster Hunter
00:30World released for the PC in August 2018
00:34over half a year after its initial
00:37release for home consoles and modding
00:40has only become even more prevalent ever
00:42since with monster hunter world and
00:45iceborn mods having been downloaded a
00:5045.1 million times and 8.7 million times
00:54for monster and the rise from the Nexus
00:57mod page let me say that again 45
01:01million downloads in case you've
01:04forgotten or weren't aware monster
01:06underworld has last been reported to
01:08have sold over 20 million copies in
01:11total that is across three different
01:13systems PC Xbox and PlayStation and
01:17again the PC version of monster
01:19underworld only released half a year
01:22after the game's launch I really think
01:24people underestimate just how big
01:26modding is in the Monster Hunter
01:28community and it makes sense that in a
01:32game where you have so much
01:34customization build diversity and
01:36replayability that some players would
01:39like to see some things changed or added
01:41after playing the game for let's say
01:43dozens if not hundreds of hours there's
01:46all kinds of mods of course you can add
01:49quality of life modes such as being able
01:52to customize your user interface having
01:55the monster's weaknesses listed on their
01:57icons or automatically eating one of
02:00your saved meals Upon returning from a
02:03quest but what you will find the most is
02:05visual mods mods that import textures
02:08from armor sets and weapons that were
02:11available in previous games but are
02:13nowhere to be found in Monster and the
02:15rise there's quite a few silly mods too
02:18maybe you want to make your Greatsword
02:20look like this or you would like to hunt
02:23Furious rajang while cosplaying as
02:25Furious rushing then there's also the
02:28cultured mods these range from being
02:31somewhat revealing to outright things
02:34that will get me banned on YouTube and
02:37there's loads of this my point is there
02:40are tons of mods most of them in fact
02:42that don't really change anything
02:44meaningful in the game everything still
02:47plays as it normally would you just
02:50slightly tailored the experience to
02:52better suit your tastes however there
02:54are some mods that alter the gameplay
02:56mods that can make your weapons stronger
02:59allow you to craft whatever items you
03:01want with no restrictions give you the
03:04best possible career crafting augments
03:06you get the picture you could call them
03:09cheat mods and that's what Capcom seems
03:12to have an issue with as they have since
03:14released a statement on Twitter
03:16addressing these mods in specific
03:19firstly they've made a post talking
03:21about there's been an issue with the
03:23Nintendo switch version of monster and
03:25the rise sunbreak where your saved data
03:28can crash and there can be some
03:29corrupted data which is a bit of a
03:31problem but the focus of this video is
03:34on this tweet right here the team have
03:37also identified that some players are
03:39illegally modifying game data for
03:42anomaly investigations accessing game
03:45data that cannot be achieved through
03:47normal gameplay can cause serious issues
03:50including making the game unplayable be
03:53vigilant and avoid this content and they
03:55go on to Showcase this image where they
03:58say that they are currently preparing a
04:00separate notification regarding how to
04:03recognize illegally modified anomaly
04:05investigations and that they are also
04:08looking into the effects that may occur
04:10when playing illegally modified quests
04:12what I guess is happening is they have
04:15been reported to have players that go
04:17into multiplayer lobbies and they host
04:19their personalized anomaly
04:21investigations ones that are unavailable
04:24in the game and it can cause some issues
04:26maybe the game crashes maybe there is a
04:29corrupted save data I don't know what
04:31can happen from this but in a way this
04:33kind of reminds me of Call of Duty
04:35lobbies where there would be a hacker
04:37and he would give you all maxed out
04:39weapons and everything but sometimes it
04:41could also mess up your save file and
04:43you would lose your account so yeah this
04:45can definitely be a bit of an issue and
04:47I think that if you modify the game in
04:50any way you definitely should not go
04:52online and especially if it's randoms if
04:54you're doing it with friends and they
04:55are aware of it what you're doing I
04:57think it's fine but definitely don't do
04:59this with randoms of course in addition
05:01jono the community manager for Capcom
05:04who's been doing a fantastic job with
05:06Monster Hunter he also tweeted out about
05:09this talking about being wary of
05:11potential illegally modded quests so
05:14that is something that if you go into
05:15open multiplayer lobbies you should look
05:18out for so consider this a bit of a
05:21public service announcement that being
05:23said you have probably seen from my own
05:25gameplay that I myself use quite a few
05:28visual mods I like adding weapons from
05:31older monster hunter games that aren't
05:33in sunbreak or adding weapons from even
05:36other series like Devil May Cry or Final
05:39Fantasy 14. stuff like that but I get
05:42that that's not everyone's cup of tea I
05:45personally dislike mods that alter the
05:47gameplay and that make you deal more
05:49damage and stuff like that as it takes
05:52away from the fun of the game the way I
05:54see it as long as you're not affecting
05:57other people either by making them have
05:59altered gear or going into multiplayer
06:01quests and one shotting monsters things
06:04like that that can ruin the fun of other
06:06players as long as you are not doing any
06:09of that and you're on your own that's
06:11okay in my book there's an argument we
06:13had about why some people choose to
06:16alter certain core aspects and mechanics
06:18of the game one that I think can be
06:21rather insightful for example I dislike
06:24monster Enterprises user interface I
06:27think it's a bit cluttered as it is by
06:29default and I think there should be an
06:31option to customize it like you can in
06:33games like Final Fantasy 14 but since
06:37that option isn't available in the game
06:39I choose to add a mod that lets me do
06:42that and therefore I get to enjoy the
06:44game just a bit more I also miss having
06:47layered weapons in the game so I've
06:49installed the mod that lets me change
06:51the look of my weapon by consuming
06:53outfit vouchers plus much like you can
06:56for layered armor I think all of that is
06:59quite reasonable but I also get that
07:02some may prefer to not alter the game in
07:05any way as they would prefer to keep the
07:07game as it was intended by the
07:09developers which is totally
07:12understandable however a couple of mods
07:14that are often discussed online are mods
07:18that like I mentioned earlier let you
07:20have perfect curiocraft augments or
07:22perfect talismans this is because
07:25speedrunners are pretty much obligated
07:28to have the best options in order to
07:30compete with other others as when it
07:32comes to speedrunning a two percent or a
07:35five percent increase in damage can make
07:37the world of difference in attaining
07:39better times or even breaking records
07:42and frankly as someone that likes to
07:44watch speedruns from time to time in
07:46order to learn how to improve as a
07:49hunter it's a shame to see so much
07:51backlash from the community against
07:53speedrunners for doing this when there
07:55is no skill involved when it comes to
07:58getting a better Talisman or an augment
08:00it's quite simply about luck or time
08:03spent and I would even argue that when
08:06you see that the mods that alter the
08:08odds of these systems to better favor
08:10the players and how popular these mods
08:13are that maybe it's an issue of balance
08:16and that a good amount of players feel
08:18like no matter how much they try they
08:21will re-roll armor augments for hundreds
08:24and hundreds of times and never get
08:26anything good so they might as well
08:28download a mod that will help them get a
08:30decent augment in a reasonable time
08:33frame this is all just one player's
08:36opinion on all of this but I think that
08:38as with most things it's not as simple
08:41as mods being good or bad for the game I
08:44would like to hear your opinion on all
08:45of this and please let's keep it civil
08:48in the comments I'll be making a video
08:50on some of my favorite mods for sunbreak
08:53very soon so stay tuned for that in the
08:56meantime thank you all so much for
08:58watching my name is dark hero and as
09:00always happy Hunting
