00:09hey everybody this is Ruster Metro game
00:11core today we're going to talk about the
00:13recent updates to Emy deck for the steam
00:15deck now I've made several videos about
00:16Emy deck previously and this is a really
00:18handy tool it essentially will set up
00:20all your emulation for you on the steam
00:22deck including the emulators themselves
00:24but then also the configurations to make
00:26it a more seamless experience and I
00:28already have a full setup video guide
00:30I'll leave that link down below this is
00:32a continuation of that we're going to
00:33talk about the new features and updates
00:35that they've created since then and some
00:37of these updates are really handy in
00:39addition to streamlining the user
00:40interface and making everything easier
00:42to navigate we also have some added
00:44emulators and some of these are really
00:46near and dear to my heart so we'll do a
00:48Showcase of those later in this video
00:50and then finally we'll talk about the
00:51Yuzu and Citra emulators and it's
00:53surprisingly easy to add these back into
00:55UDC and so without any further delay
00:57let's go ahead and Dive Right In
01:06okay so as a quick recap muud is a tool
01:08that you will use to download and
01:10install emulators onto your device and
01:12then also a will configure it for you at
01:14the same time and this tool started with
01:16the steam deck that's why it's called
01:17emud but it has expanded to other
01:20platforms since then now personally I
01:22like to use emud deck in two different
01:23ways the first is that I like to take my
01:25very favorite games and integrate them
01:27into the actual Steam OS interface this
01:30means that if I'm on my homepage and I'm
01:31just kind of browsing through my most
01:33recently played games I'll see them
01:34there but then also within my library if
01:36I go to the non steam game section I'll
01:38see a bunch of them here as well and
01:40these are my absolute favorite games
01:42those that I want to have integrated
01:44into the Steam OS interface however I do
01:46have more emulated games than this on my
01:48device I just don't want them taking up
01:50that much clutter and this is where a
01:51front end or Launcher app will actually
01:54come into play there are two currently
01:55available with emud the first one is
01:57called ESD or emulation station desktop
02:00Edition and this is the one that I tend
02:02to use the most so all of my emulated
02:04games including those that are
02:05integrated in Steam OS are found within
02:07here this means I can have a rather
02:09large emulation Library without taking
02:11up a bunch of space on my Steam OS
02:13interface and there are many different
02:14ways that you can use emud you can
02:16either have it all integrated in Steam
02:18OS or put it all into emulation station
02:20or somewhere in between like I do now
02:22like I mentioned emud is available not
02:24only on the steam deck but on a bunch of
02:26other platforms including a couple Linux
02:28builds like Chimera OS and they've also
02:30got a Windows version so if you've got a
02:32Windows handheld or you just want to use
02:33it on your desktop you can do that as
02:35well they're also working on an Android
02:37version that means it'll install all of
02:38the emulators directly onto your Android
02:40device and also configure them this
02:42one's still in Beta release and under
02:44Early Access so if you want to test it
02:46yourself you have to be a patron and
02:48once it gets a little bit more stable I
02:49plan on making a guide video for that
02:51one as well now directly on the muud
02:53page you can actually find the two muck
02:55guides that I've already made on the
02:57left is the Steam OS one and then on the
02:59right is the window Windows version and
03:00of course I'll leave my steam deck guide
03:02in the video description below so from
03:04this point on I'm going to assume you
03:06already have muck installed on your
03:07steam deck and you want to update but
03:09you want to make sure you also don't
03:10screw everything up and so that's what
03:12we're going to do for the rest of this
03:13video we're going to update muud deck
03:15talk about some of those new features
03:16and then also some of the new emulators
03:18and games that you can play on it now
03:20updating Emy deck on your steam deck is
03:22very simple you just need to go into
03:23desktop mode then make sure you're
03:25connected to the internet and then click
03:26on the muud app image on your desktop
03:28from there it's going to check for
03:30updates it'll find them and then it's
03:31going to update it when you do update
03:33it's going to show you a list of changes
03:35that have happened since the last time
03:36that you've updated it's been a while
03:38for me so it's showing off some things
03:39that are kind of old at this point for
03:41example muck for Windows and they do
03:43have a new front-end launcher and
03:44selector named Pegasus we'll talk about
03:46that later in this video they've also
03:48made a bunch of UI changes for things
03:50like steam ROM manager as well as just
03:52the overall UI for UDC for example now
03:55you can see that all the updated
03:56features are available on the left
03:58sidebar that does make it quite a bit
04:00easier to navigate and some of these are
04:02going to look familiar for example the
04:03Quick Settings this is where you can
04:05adjust things like Autos saves or bezels
04:07or your aspect ratio for certain systems
04:10but there is one section that is new and
04:11that's the controller layout here you
04:13can choose whether or not you want the
04:15emulators to conform to the ab and XY
04:17pattern on the steam deck or if you'd
04:19rather have the buttons correspond to
04:20the position that they were on the
04:22original controller that you're
04:23emulating personally I like to emulate
04:25the position of the buttons but if you
04:27want to make sure that a is always a you
04:29can change that to the controller layout
04:31match instead now under the manage
04:33emulator section this is where you're
04:34going to make a lot of new updates this
04:36is where the magic happens and we are
04:38going to spend quite a bit of time in
04:39here including installing new emulators
04:42but before we do that one of the things
04:43I like to do every time that I open up
04:45emck is to update my configurations and
04:47emulators you're going to find this at
04:49the top of your manage emulators page
04:51and usually I will reset my
04:52configurations first and then also I
04:54like to update my emulators now
04:56emulators are saved in two different
04:58ways on the steam deck and so you will
05:00have to run the update script Twice
05:02first you're going to update your flat
05:03packs this is pretty straightforward
05:05you'll just hit okay and then everything
05:06will update after that we can update all
05:08the other stuff that's going to include
05:10app images binaries as well as Windows
05:12executables so let's go ahead and update
05:14these as well one thing of note if
05:16you're going to update simu which is the
05:17Nintendo Wii U emulator it's going to
05:19give you a choice between which one you
05:21want to download and install and EMC
05:23recommends the bottom one the 2.0
05:25version which is the one that I use as
05:27well anyway just give it a minute to go
05:29through all of these updates and then
05:31you'll be good to go now one thing you
05:32may have noticed when you were doing the
05:34update is that it had Citra and Yuzu
05:36listed as updated emulators however as
05:39of making this video they have removed
05:41Yuzu and Citra as installable emulators
05:43at this point and that has to do with
05:45all the legal Kur fuffle that's happened
05:47over the past month or so however one
05:49thing that the team has done is they've
05:50left in the configurations in case you
05:53already have Citra and Yuzu installed
05:55and to be clear emid is not going to
05:57remove Citra or Yuzu from your steam
05:59deck or other their computer it really
06:00just means they're not going to update
06:02the app you already have installed and
06:04it isn't going to autoinstall it either
06:06however because the configurations are
06:08still remaining within muu deck it is
06:10possible to add them and it's pretty
06:12easy on the steam deck in fact if you go
06:14to the citro or Yuzu Pages within emud
06:17it's going to say that yes these apps
06:18were shut down and they're no longer
06:20available to install however Within
06:22These special configuration section it
06:24does say that if you have the app image
06:26where to put it and so even though I'm
06:27not going to show you where to get them
06:29it's it's pretty easy to find an archive
06:31of these apps when you're looking for
06:32the steam deck or Linux versions you
06:34want to make sure that they have aapp
06:36image file extension and once you found
06:38them you want to go to the home/
06:40applications folder on your steam deck
06:42within there you'll find a bunch of
06:43different app Images but these are the
06:45two that you need to add for Citra it's
06:47going to be in Citra qt. apppp image and
06:50for Yuzu it's going to be just the word
06:51Yuzu app image as well bear in mind that
06:54these names are case sensitive and
06:56depending on where you get the app image
06:57from you may have to rename them but
06:59really that's about it you just have to
07:01put the app images in this specific
07:03folder and all the other configurations
07:04for emid are still there and so
07:06regardless of whether not you've already
07:08installed Yuzu and Citra or if you want
07:10to add them yourself this is where the
07:11app Images will reside one other thing
07:14of note when you open up UDC the second
07:16time after updating it's going to give
07:17you a hot fix message and what they're
07:20saying here is that emulation station
07:21desktop Edition has removed Yuzu however
07:24the EMC team has created a hot fix
07:26that'll bring it back so if you do get
07:27this prompt just go ahead and hit yes
07:29and if you never see this prompt but you
07:31want to make sure that it's working go
07:32down to the emulation station button
07:34within manage your emulators and then
07:36click on reset configuration anyway
07:38that's really about it when it comes to
07:40Yuzu in Citra I wanted to make sure that
07:41you knew what to do in case you wanted
07:43to update or install this on emid now I
07:46want to talk about some of the ma leers
07:48that have been added in this new update
07:50of version 2.2 in addition to the
07:52Standalone flycast emulator there are
07:54three emulators that I really want to
07:55focus on because these are really
07:57interesting for me first is the super
07:59model emulator this is going to be for
08:00Sega model 3 and then we also have the
08:02Sega model 2 emulator as well as big pmu
08:06this last one is for Atari jaguar and
08:08Atari Jaguar CD now if you want to
08:10install any of these emulators it's
08:12super simple you just want to go onto
08:13the emulator page and then click on the
08:15button that says install it'll take a
08:17minute just to download the emulator and
08:18put it in the right folder but after
08:20that you're good to go one thing I do
08:21recommend after going through and
08:23installing all three of these is to also
08:25go back to those pages and reset the
08:27configuration that's going to make sure
08:28that all the optimizations and Bug fixes
08:31have been implemented now before we jump
08:32into the emulation part of this video I
08:34do want to show off a couple other
08:36features that are available within this
08:37new version of emid just so you know
08:39what you're doing when you're kind of
08:40navigating around we'll start with the
08:43screen resolution section within here
08:45you can adjust the resolution of your
08:47games and all the upscaling if you'd
08:48like for me personally because the steam
08:50deck has an 800p resolution display I
08:53just leave these all at default which is
08:54usually going to be 720p next I want to
08:57talk about some of the tools that are
08:58exclusive to the IDC platform the first
09:01is their compression tool now this one's
09:02been around for a while but they've
09:04updated it with a couple new systems now
09:06it's going to compress 3DS games as well
09:08as Xbox games too another thing you may
09:11want to do is migrate your installation
09:13so for example if you've got everything
09:14on your internal storage but you want to
09:16move it to an SD card or vice versa
09:18there's a tool to do that as well and if
09:20you're a more advanced user there's a
09:21bunch of plugins you can play around
09:23with within muud 2 the first one is
09:25called mudi and this is a plugin that
09:27will allow you to access some muud
09:29controls directly within the game mode
09:31so instead of having to go back to
09:33desktop mode and go into this menu you
09:35can do that right in the plugin and so
09:37if you're already familiar with plugins
09:38you're probably going to know how to set
09:39all the stuff up but it's all available
09:41here within the idck menu there's a
09:43couple other plugins that are worth
09:44checking out as well including steam
09:46deck gyro DSU this is going to provide
09:49you with gyro controls for the Wii U 3DS
09:51GameCube Wii and Nintendo switch and
09:54also if you've never installed the power
09:56tools plugin you can do that within mud
09:58as well anyway that's a quick recap of
10:00some of my favorite new features within
10:02IDC now let's start installing some
10:04games for those new emulators that have
10:05been added and so here's my setup when
10:07it comes to installing games on the left
10:09side we have my SD card and then on the
10:12right side we have an external drive
10:13that I've plugged into my steam deck
10:15which has my ROM library on it so on the
10:18left side I'm going to go into the
10:19emulation folder and then there's a ROMs
10:21folder this is where you're going to put
10:22most of your games we'll start with the
10:24Atari Jaguar CD section and I have these
10:27games within my ROM collection and it's
10:28a simp simple as just moving them over
10:30into this new one Atari Jaguar CD does
10:33not require special bios or anything you
10:35just need to move the games over however
10:37one thing I learned after making this
10:38footage is that the Jaguar emulator does
10:41not work with zip files so you will have
10:43to unzip each of these files and they're
10:44going to be in a CDI format after you
10:47unzip them but really that's it when it
10:49comes to setting up Atari Jaguar CD
10:51games let's move on to Sega model 2
10:53we're going to find this within the
10:55model 2 folder and for these games you
10:57do want to leave them zip so just leave
10:58them as they are now of course I can't
11:00show you where to get these games but
11:02it's pretty easy to find an archive of
11:04Sega model 2 and Sega model 3 and one
11:07thing of note when you grab all these
11:08games and move them into the model 2
11:10folder you don't want to put them
11:11directly in this folder you want to put
11:13them in the ROM subfolder instead it's a
11:15little bit weird because most of these
11:17will not have a ROM subfolder but I did
11:19want to make note of that for model 2
11:21it's going to be a similar process with
11:22model 3 but this one doesn't have a ROM
11:24subfolder so you just want to move
11:26everything over and one thing of note
11:28the model 3 emulator works the best when
11:30you use non-merged ROM sets so if you
11:32are looking for a model 3 ROM collection
11:35try to find one that says non-merged
11:37anyway that's about it when it comes to
11:38installing these ROMs it's pretty simple
11:40all three of these do not require bios
11:42files or anything now to launch these
11:44games you've got a couple different
11:45options personally I like to just use
11:47emulation station but if you want to
11:49actually add them to your Steam OS
11:50interface you'll have to use steam ROM
11:52manager and I went over this tool in
11:54detail in my idex setup guide so we're
11:56just going to run through it really
11:57quickly here to start you just want to
11:59click on the steam ROM manager it's
12:00going to ask you do you really want to
12:02do it you're going to click yeah man I
12:03want to do it and then it's going to
12:05close Steam and then open up this app
12:07from there you can resize it to take up
12:09the whole screen and after that you need
12:11to choose all of your parsers this
12:13essentially means that you need to
12:14choose which systems you potentially
12:16want to show in Steam OS personally I
12:18like to toggle all of them off and then
12:20go through and choose the one
12:21specifically where I know I have games
12:23that I want to see in my main menu and
12:25more often than not there's going to be
12:26very few of these that I actually want
12:28to turn on and anyway once you've gone
12:29through and chosen all of these on the
12:31bottom there's going to be a button
12:32called preview click on that it's going
12:34to give you a couple instructions and
12:35then you can tap on that button that
12:36says pars from there it's going to look
12:38at all those systems that you designated
12:40look in those game folders and then find
12:42the games and then scrub them against a
12:44game database and depending on how many
12:46games you have in those systems that you
12:48selected it might take quite some time
12:50and after it's done doing that there may
12:51be some games here that either were
12:53scrubbed incorrectly or maybe you don't
12:55actually want them in your interface so
12:57what I do here is I click on that
12:59exclude button on the bottom and then
13:01from there you can click on all of the
13:02games that you don't actually want to
13:04see in Steam OS and this usually will
13:06take me quite some time because I kind
13:07of hem and ha and decide which one do I
13:09want to see in Steam OS or which one am
13:11I going to launch from emulation station
13:13so I do recommend taking your time and
13:15less is more with this approach you
13:16don't want to over clutter your system
13:18and also note that many model 2 and
13:20model 3 games will not show up correctly
13:22within here so chances are it might find
13:24the wrong game altogether it is kind of
13:26a mess right now and that kind of makes
13:28sense given the fact that these are not
13:30super popular systems and so maybe the
13:32databases aren't fully up to date either
13:34way once you've gone through and you're
13:35happy with your setup go up to the top
13:37right and there's going to be a save
13:38button click on that after that you
13:40should only now see all the games that
13:42you want to see in your Steam OS
13:43interface once you're happy there's
13:45going to be a save to steam button on
13:47the bottom click on that and once it's
13:49complete you'll get a notification
13:50saying that it's done adding or removing
13:52entries now we're ready to move on and
13:54now when we navigate through our non-
13:55steam Library you will see all those
13:57entries that we added from steamr
13:59manager and that essentially is how it
14:02all is going to work and like I
14:03mentioned I typically will keep this to
14:05my very favorite game so only the ones
14:07that I want to see in my main interface
14:09for everything else I like to run them
14:11through a launcher like emulation
14:12station so for example instead of
14:14putting all your Sega model 2 games on
14:16the Steam OS interface you can just
14:18leave them with an emulation station by
14:20default and now when I navigate through
14:22that section I can find all my games
14:23right here bear in mind that I already
14:25spent the time and scraped all my box
14:27art to make sure everything looked nice
14:28and pretty but this is how it'll look
14:30after you have it set up now even though
14:32I like to use emulation station a lot
14:34there's now a new launcher available for
14:36idex so let's talk about this one it's
14:38called Pegasus this is actually a really
14:40old app it's been around for a long time
14:42but it has a lot of customization
14:43options to it and the main developer
14:45behind emid has been working with
14:47Pegasus for years so it makes a lot of
14:49sense that they're using it now and if
14:51you don't already have Pegasus installed
14:52it's really simple to set up you would
14:54just scroll down to the manage emulator
14:56section with an emud and then you would
14:57choose to install it like we we did with
14:59like the model 2 and model 3 emulators
15:02and thankfully most of Pegasus has
15:03already been preconfigured for you by
15:05the UDC team after that the only other
15:07thing you need to do is go into the
15:08Pegasus theme section on the left and
15:11then just choose your default theme you
15:12can pick the first one or there's a
15:14bunch of different ones to choose from
15:15so let me now show you what Pegasus is
15:17going to look like once you've installed
15:18it and added a theme and it's a pretty
15:20Zippy and fast interface and very simple
15:23to use you just want to press the
15:24shoulder buttons to tap over to the
15:26third section that's going to show your
15:27game collections and from there you can
15:29pick a system and it's going to show all
15:31your Gams now if you've already scraped
15:33your box art using emulation station all
15:35of that scrape media is going to show
15:37within Pegasus as well and that's
15:39because they're sharing the same assets
15:41so you don't have to download them twice
15:42however bear in mind that it might not
15:44look congruent between the media and
15:46these two launchers for example with
15:48this theme that I'm using the Super
15:49Nintendo box art is getting cut off
15:51anyway launching a game is very fast you
15:53just click on it and it's going to start
15:54off and then all the controls you're
15:56probably used to like pressing select
15:58and start to exit game all that's going
15:59to work and really that's about it when
16:01it comes to Pegasus it is a very simple
16:03interface but there are a couple things
16:05that prevent me from using this is my
16:07main one the first is that mysteriously
16:09some of these box Arts just won't show
16:11up even though I have scraped them with
16:12emulation station and the other is that
16:14there's not a lot of options here within
16:16this launcher it essentially will just
16:18launch your games and that's it for
16:19example if you want to download and
16:21install a new theme for Pegasus you have
16:23to go back into desktop mode then into
16:25emid and then into the Pegasus theme
16:27section then you can pick a different
16:29theme and install it from there and
16:31compared to something like emulation
16:32station that is a little bit extra work
16:34in emulation station you can just do
16:35that within the app anyway that's a
16:37quick look at the Pegasus frontend
16:39launcher in case you want to try it out
16:41there are a bunch of different themes
16:42and like I said they can really change
16:44the look and feel of the overall
16:45launcher and there's also a third
16:47launcher in the works for steam deck
16:49we'll talk about that later in the video
16:51for now I want to move over and start
16:52talking about emulation when it comes to
16:54these three systems that we installed
16:56earlier we're going to start with Atari
16:58Jaguar CD and chances are you haven't
17:00actually played this system before to be
17:02honest I didn't even know that Atari had
17:04created a CD ROM version of the Jaguar
17:07up until a few years ago when I got more
17:09into emulation and the catalog itself is
17:11pretty small I think there were only
17:12maybe 11 or 12 games made for it all
17:15together but the coolest thing about
17:16this is that this was a system that many
17:18people thought was lost to time sure
17:20there were some people that had original
17:22Hardware but those were very few and far
17:24between but one of the great things
17:25about emulation is that sometimes it can
17:27preserve or Revit ize some of these
17:29games and that's exactly what happened
17:31with this emulator called Big pmu it
17:33just started adding Atari Jaguar CD
17:35games and so now everyone can try these
17:37out now I'm not saying these games are
17:39the best in fact some of these are a
17:40little bit janky but all the same it is
17:42super cool to be able to have access to
17:44these games that I never thought I'd be
17:46able to play okay next let's talk about
17:48Sega model 2 this is an arcade system
17:50from around the mid90s and there are a
17:52lot of hidden gems on here as well many
17:54of them did not get console ports if I
17:56had to summarize it I would say there
17:58are three main main types of games that
17:59are available on model 2 and then
18:01there's a bunch of different sub games
18:03that you can play as well and the first
18:05type of game is going to be on rail
18:06light gun games these were some of my
18:08favorites back in the day they were
18:09really popular in the mid 9s and the
18:11great thing about this emulator it's
18:13been configured to be able to use the
18:14light gun using the mouse pad and
18:16because we're playing this on the steam
18:18deck we can use the right trackpad as
18:20the mouse and it's all been
18:21preconfigured and sometimes the controls
18:23will depend on the game that you're
18:24playing with some games you can use the
18:26right trigger to shoot and with other
18:28games you'll to press down on the
18:29trackpad as you're moving for those
18:31games that do have you press on the
18:32trackpad to shoot like House of the Dead
18:34in Virtual Cop 2 to reload you're going
18:36to press on the left track pad and I
18:38think this is pretty cool given the fact
18:39that we have track pads natively on the
18:41steam deck so everything just kind of
18:43gets integrated really smoothly with
18:45model 2 another type of game you'll find
18:47on Sega model 2 are going to be fighting
18:49games in fact there's quite a few
18:50Classics on here and many of these were
18:52ported over to the Sega Saturn that's
18:54going to include games like fighting
18:55vipers and last Bronx as well as Virtual
18:58Fighter 2 however one thing to note is
19:00that if the game has widescreen hacks
19:02available it'll actually apply them here
19:04on your steam deck so these games are
19:05actually going to play with a wider
19:07screen resolution than on the original
19:09arcade and they look great in fact I've
19:11been having a great time playing virtu
19:12Fighter 2 this is actually my favorite
19:15Virtual Fighter game I felt like it was
19:16a huge Improvement in graphics from the
19:18first game and so I really loved the
19:20second one now the third type of game
19:21that you'll find on the Sega model 2 is
19:23by far the largest this is going to be
19:25racing games and there's quite a few
19:27Classics on here too I think everyone
19:29knows Daytona USA but there are a couple
19:31other hidden gems like Indie 500 in fact
19:33I've never been a huge fan of the
19:35Daytona USA controls it feels like it's
19:37a little bit too touchy Indie 500 is
19:39very similar but it feels a lot more
19:41smooth of an experience so I've been
19:43really enjoying this one there's also
19:44other games that I've never tried before
19:46including over rev and this one is like
19:48a city type racer it looks really great
19:50as well another one of my favorites is
19:52Sega Rally Championship and this one is
19:54on the Saturn 2 but I feel like this
19:56one's just a little bit smoother of a
19:57gameplay exper experience not only that
19:59the wies screen hacks I was mentioning
20:01before do apply to this game as well
20:03another game I had never tried before
20:05testing is one called Sega Touring Car
20:07Championship and this one feels a lot
20:09like Sega Rally Championship but with
20:11obviously a touring car instead now in
20:13addition to your straight racing car
20:15games there are a bunch of different
20:16racing themed games as well for example
20:19there's a couple motorcycle games to
20:20play these are a little bit on the
20:22touchy side so I didn't have a ton of
20:23fun with these but all the same it is
20:25cool to have a different vehicle to race
20:27with however by far the most fun I had
20:29was trying other racing games that were
20:31a little bit more unconventional for
20:33example there's a snow skiing game but
20:35then also a water skiing game and then
20:37finally a jet skiing game as well in all
20:39three of these I found to be very fun to
20:41play the Sprites are super big and
20:43everything's nice and vibrant so it's
20:44just a fun experience in addition there
20:46were quite a few other Sega model 2
20:49games and some of these are pretty
20:50ingenious first of all we have a skating
20:52game this one's pretty good we also have
20:54a flying game called Sky Target this one
20:56was known as being an unofficial sequel
20:58to After Burner another game I really
21:00enjoyed is called Dynamite baseball 97
21:02now this one is all in Japanese so it's
21:04a little bit hard to understand what's
21:06going on but I love arcade style
21:08baseball games and this one is really
21:10good in that regard another game that
21:11I've tried on the Dreamcast but haven't
21:13tried in the arcade version is Dynamite
21:15Cop this one's actually a sequel to Die
21:17Hard arcade that we had on the Sega
21:19Saturn but this one was called something
21:21else in Japan it was called Dynamite
21:22Deca and so this was the second game in
21:25that series and then the last game that
21:26I tested for Sega model 2 that enjoyed
21:29was called pilot kids this is a
21:30horizontal shooter that kind of has like
21:32a cutesy kind of factor to it next let's
21:34talk about Sega model 3 there's quite a
21:36few games here that you might be
21:37familiar with to start the first thing
21:39you'll notice is the graphics are a lot
21:41better on this system this is more along
21:43the late '90s or Dreamcast era of games
21:46and so many of these games did get
21:47Dreamcast ports later on including
21:49fighting vipers 2 Virtual Fighter 3
21:52virtual Striker 2 as well as Sega rally
21:542 so some of these games you've probably
21:56already played before but there are some
21:58reasons to try them out with Sega model
21:593 for starters I love these arcade
22:01versions because I can just pump a bunch
22:03of quarters into it and kind of push my
22:05way all the way to the end of the game
22:06in addition like with Sega model 2 these
22:08do have widescreen hacks applied and so
22:10it's going to fill up the screen all the
22:12way and it looks really good now Sega
22:13model 3 also had its share of
22:15conventional games including racing
22:17games and so there are quite a few
22:19different options that you can choose
22:20from here however what I really like
22:22about Sega model 3 is that it did quite
22:24a few games that were outside of the box
22:26at the time one of the games I tested
22:28and really enjoyed is called emergency
22:30ambulance now this one essentially
22:31you're just moving a passenger on an
22:33ambulance and you're running out of time
22:35but the time here is graded by the
22:37health of the passenger that you're
22:38moving around so the way to get further
22:40in this game is to avoid all accidents
22:42as much as you can because any time you
22:44hit another car or some other building
22:46or whatever it's going to drop the
22:48health of your passenger so I found that
22:50to be a pretty neat Dynamic overall and
22:52there are some truly bizarre games as
22:54well there's one called magical truck
22:56Adventure in this game you're going to
22:57move the analog stick up and down and
22:59that's basically going to pump a hand
23:01cart and if I remember correctly there
23:03was an actual hand cart in the arcade
23:05machine so you had to Pump It Up and
23:07Down anyway this one's just kind of a
23:08bizarre but a lot of fun to play so I
23:10would recommend checking this one out if
23:12you want something a little bit
23:13different as well there's a Sega bass
23:15fishing game this one's kind of neat you
23:17can cast your lure and then also try to
23:19bring the fish in but I got to say the
23:20two games that I enjoyed the most with
23:22Sega model 3 were ones that I had played
23:24before but I hadn't touched in over 20
23:26years the first was Jurassic park the
23:28lost world so this one is available on
23:30Sega model 3 now I did find that the
23:32controls were off for me with this game
23:34and so I ended up having to use the
23:36touch screen so I was tapping on the
23:37dinosaurs to shoot them and then I would
23:39press on the right trackpad to reload my
23:41game and the weird thing here is that
23:43the touchcreen didn't quite sink up to
23:45where my finger was touching so
23:46unfortunately even though it was really
23:48cool to be able to play one of these
23:49Jurassic Park shooter games on my steam
23:51deck it wasn't a perfect experience that
23:54being said by far my favorite experience
23:56when testing out all these games was to
23:58be able ble to finally play Star Wars
24:00Trilogy arcade this is a game that I
24:02briefly saw in the late 9s I think I
24:04maybe played it once or twice but I
24:05remember it being very expensive and so
24:07I couldn't afford to play it very much
24:09but it was always a game that I wanted
24:10to go back and play this game is a
24:12combination of on rail shooter both from
24:15a vehicle standpoint as well as like
24:17walking around and shooting not only
24:19that it has boss sequences where you'll
24:21use a lightsaber and I remember those
24:22being super epic as well so for me
24:24personally as a big Star Wars fan this
24:27is a game I never really thought I'd be
24:28able to play again and it's really
24:30awesome to be able to play it on my
24:31steam deck now one thing of note the
24:33controls on this are not perfect I found
24:35myself switching between the track pads
24:37the analog sticks and I also went into
24:38the controller settings and configured a
24:40bunch of stuff just to make sure
24:41everything was working so it's not a
24:43perfect outof the-box experience but
24:44with a little bit of tweaking you can
24:46really kind of Transport yourself back
24:48to like the late '90s when this came out
24:50this is a game I thought was probably
24:51lost at time and so it's really exciting
24:53for me to be able to play this game
24:55again now as we wrap up one thing I did
24:57want to mention is there are some things
24:59in the works for IDC in the future the
25:01first is that they are creating their
25:02own ROM launcher so like emulation
25:04station or Pegasus but made by the UDC
25:07team itself they've already got
25:08retroarch working great but they are
25:10working on the Standalone emulators now
25:12so be on the lookout for this one and
25:13I'll be sure to Showcase it when I can
25:15there's also two other things they've
25:17been working on the first is a really
25:18easy net play feature so the idea here
25:20is to take two different devices both
25:22running idck and be able to play them
25:24either with each other or against each
25:26other just like you could back in the
25:27day and it's already already possible to
25:29do net play like that but the
25:30configuration itself can be a little bit
25:32daunting so it's really cool that they
25:34are setting up something a lot easier to
25:35use and finally the last thing that's
25:37been in the works for quite some time is
25:39something called onion sink they've been
25:41working with the onion OS team this is
25:43the team responsible for some custom
25:44firmware on the Miu Mini Plus so the
25:46idea here is you can use a cloud save
25:48feature between the Miu Mini Plus and
25:51your steam deck or anything else that's
25:52running Amud and I think that's a great
25:54fit because the Miu Mini Plus is a
25:56perfect complement to something big like
25:57this deck so as soon as this is
26:00available you can bet I'm going to show
26:01a video on this as well anyway that's
26:03really about it for this video I wanted
26:05to show off both the new features and
26:07updates are available for emud and I
26:09also wanted to make a bit of a love
26:10letter to Sega model 2 and 3 these
26:12arcade systems in particular are a
26:14really great fit for this steam deck so
26:16I really enjoyed the hours that I spent
26:18testing all of these games getting ready
26:20for this video and many of these I'm
26:21going to keep on my steam deck
26:23permanently because they are a lot of
26:24fun anyway let me know what you think
26:26about the updates down in the comments
26:27and let let me know if there is a Sega
26:29model 2 or 3 game that you really enjoy
26:31as well as always thank you for watching
26:33and be sure to like And subscribe if you
26:35found this helpful and we will see you
