00:23 nice they've been together for a very
00:25 long time clearly they've worked hard
00:27 and been able to make a life for
00:29 themselves centered around their shared
00:31 interest and I mean really that's the
00:32 dream for anybody no matter what that
00:34 shared interest May band who cares about
00:37 this video gaming is the worst hobby one
00:39 could have what a waste of time not like
00:41 what I do which is spend all day on my
00:43 phone telling other people that they're
00:45 wasting their time I'm pissed living
00:47 behind a screen aren't you doing the
00:49 same thing no you have gamer in your bio
00:52 our Gamers extremely lazy did they ever
00:55 get up I like to think that this person
00:56 isn't making fun of them they're just
00:58 genuinely concerned for their well-being

01:07 yourself up to criticism whenever you

01:11 nature of the internet but it's crazy

01:17 something and isn't hurting anyone else
01:19 in the process still gets criticized all
01:21 right here's another Tick Tock about
01:22 dishes in our house I cook he does the
01:26 dishes and when he cooks
01:29 he does the dishes harmless joke right
01:32 they're just subverting expectations of
01:33 what you might have expected her to say
01:35 so really there's no reason for someone
01:37 to get like super pissed about this
01:38 journey oh so he's twice as useful as
01:40 you L girlfriend so much entitlement the
01:43 woman that posted this and the women
01:44 that are commenting on this just because
01:45 you don't like doing it doesn't mean he
01:47 does so about helping and being a good
01:49 person he rather does the dishes because
01:51 he knows you'll never do it without
01:52 moaning about it or showing the
01:53 initiative to just do it you just let
01:56 him do it because you're lazy and
01:57 entitled feeling offended when called
01:59 out but ask yourself if you're feeling

03:01 the time but I cook ninety percent of
03:03 the time she cleans more often than I do
03:05 but I do all the grocery shopping I
03:07 don't know one single chore doesn't tell
03:09 the whole story but even still being in
03:10 a relationship isn't supposed to be this
03:13 one-to-one transactional exchange where
03:16 every chore must be split down the
03:18 middle and every good deed must be
03:20 reciprocated immediately hey I just did

03:43 chore and they haven't been able to stop

03:57 honestly I like tick tocks like this
03:58 because I think this is really healthy

04:02 having the desire to be by yourself for
04:04 a little bit doesn't mean your marriage
04:06 is bad all of a sudden or you've lost
04:08 your spark most couples go through this
04:10 most couples do this you are still your
04:12 own person with your own hobbies and
04:14 interests it's not the end of the world
04:16 sometimes Amanda comes home from work
04:17 and wants to tell me everything that
04:19 happened that day and that's great and
04:20 other times she just wants to come home
04:21 and listen to a podcast and play stardew
04:23 Valley for three hours and both of those
04:24 are fine that's not good or healthy for
04:27 couples well this is crazy unhealthy in
04:29 a relation that is terrible relationship
04:31 advice when kids are down it's time to
04:33 be together each of you should have some
04:35 time to do what you like but do it while
04:36 kids are up one watches kids then the
04:38 other it's a very specific rule me and
04:40 my husband we have four kids that was in
04:42 the 80s all I time was about them now
04:44 that they are growing and have their own
04:45 family me and him have some our time we
04:48 love been and around each other but like
04:49 he wish in TV and working I like being
04:52 at home alone and when we at home we
04:54 talk about everything and then like I
04:55 said he in one room and I amend another
04:57 we've been married for 40s years get
04:59 along just fine I think she's on my side
05:02 here I'm not 100 sure if you love
05:05 somebody you'll expect to have its
05:06 company as much as they can it seems
05:08 like there are two kinds of negative
05:09 responses to this there's the people who
05:11 misinterpret it to mean that they don't
05:13 want to spend any time together even
05:15 though that's not at all what they're
05:16 saying this is what like an hour of
05:17 their day some of the time relax but
05:20 then there's also the people who use
05:21 tick tocks like this to just brag about
05:23 their own relationships sad we like to
05:26 be with each other at bedtime even after
05:28 nine years of marriage wait you guys
05:31 have alone time that's a choice that you
05:35 make no that's great I'm happy for you I
05:37 guess it's just that you must not love
05:39 each other very much because I spend
05:41 every waking moment with my wife we have
05:44 the same job the same Hobbies the same
05:47 friend us our bathroom has two toilets
05:50 and they face each other a few years
05:52 back I actually took a class on how to
05:54 stop blinking and now I don't do it
05:56 anymore or can I say I guess I missed
05:58 her too much when my eyes were closed of
06:00 course there's a balance to this as this
06:02 guy will tell you not realizing that the
06:04 people who posted the tick tock would
06:05 probably agree with him if you never
06:07 prioritize your partner and you're
06:09 constantly blowing them off to just do
06:11 whatever you want go hang out with your
06:12 friends that's a problem if 100 of the
06:15 time you'd rather be hanging out with
06:17 your boys than paying any attention to
06:19 your girlfriend you probably shouldn't
06:22 you should be dating your boy but at the
06:24 same time I wouldn't personally want to
06:26 be in a relationship where my life
06:27 solely revolves around the other person
06:29 you need time to cultivate your own
06:31 interests and work on yourself so you
06:33 actually have something to bring to the
06:34 table and honestly sometimes when your
06:36 partner is trying to minimize your other
06:38 passions or turn you against your
06:40 friends it's kind of a manipulation
06:42 tactic they're trying to make you fully
06:43 dependent on them so you have nowhere
06:45 else to go and no one else in your life
06:47 to point out all their red flags I don't
06:49 think a relationship should be about
06:50 merging into one entity that is useless
06:53 without the other person because if you
06:55 get too far into it you're gonna lose
06:56 sight of who you were before you started
06:58 dating just like with anything though it
06:59 comes down to what you and your partner
07:01 agree on if you both want to spend 24
07:03 hours a day holding hands and staring
07:05 into each other's eyes go for it that's
07:07 awesome I'm not gonna stop you but
07:08 that's what really gets me about these
07:09 comments is that for the most part
07:10 everybody's just arguing for their own
07:12 personal preference in a relationship
07:15 that they're not a part of if you see a
07:17 video like this and you think well that
07:19 wouldn't work for me or my wife and I
07:21 could never do something like that
07:22 that's literally fine because you're not
07:26 in the relationship like I just don't
07:28 understand the need to go around
07:29 imposing the rules of your marriage onto
07:32 everyone else like what's the point of
07:34 even trying to argue with how this
07:36 couple lives their lives they've been
07:37 together for 13 years if this lifestyle
07:40 was unsustainable for them they wouldn't
07:43 have been able to sustain it if you see
07:45 this couple happily on the same page
07:47 about something and then decide that
07:48 actually you know what's best for them
07:50 more than they do no you don't shut up
07:53 in classic internet fashion though I
07:54 found another Tick Tock that's almost
07:56 exactly the same as these ones but all
07:59 of the comments are angry for the
08:02 opposite reason after our kids go to bed
08:03 this is how my husband and I have been
08:06 spending time together at night I am
08:08 re-watching all the Marvel movies and my
08:10 husband is over here racing in his
08:15 so we're like kind of together right now
08:17 I'll admit the vibe is a little
08:20 different in this one whereas the other
08:21 people were like proudly saying hey this
08:23 is something we do this is what works in
08:25 our relationship uh this woman seems a
08:27 little bit more unsure it also kind of
08:29 looks like maybe she's been crying but I
08:31 don't know her life I'm just gonna
08:32 assume that it was from the movie
08:34 ultimately I don't know and I'm not
08:36 going to speculate it on it too hard
08:37 because this is an Instagram reel and I
08:39 don't know anything about these people
08:42 is what I would say if I wasn't a crazy
08:45 person she just wants him to do what she
08:47 wants to do yeah she's not happy
08:48 something's going on she is low-key
08:50 putting him down instead of just talking
08:52 to her husband instead she tries to make
08:53 a video and post it trying to shame him
08:55 would you cry a little less have you
08:57 offered or shown any interest in playing
08:59 games with him reach into his interests
09:01 I understand that you are not enjoying
09:02 this quality time visually obvious now
09:05 the thing that these comments all have
09:06 in common is that they're all working
09:08 off of an assumption we have decided
09:10 that this video is not sincere and since
09:12 that's now a fact that we all can agree
09:15 on it's okay to believe so I was curious
09:17 I found them on Tick Tock I just saw
09:19 this one on Instagram and they made
09:20 multiple follow-up videos where they had
09:23 to be like guys can you stop telling us
09:25 to get a divorce we love each other we
09:27 love our kids we spend a lot of time
09:29 together I was just kind of tired
09:30 because we both worked all day and you
09:33 guys are looking into this way too hard
09:35 please stop it's weird Okay so mystery
09:38 um and now that we have that context I
09:40 would like to present to you one of the
09:41 most unhinged comments I have ever read
09:44 in my life I am certain that the purpose
09:46 of this video was we've got this whole
09:48 history and all I'm asking for him is to
09:50 sit here and watch these movies with me
09:52 I even put on Marvel movies because he
09:54 likes him and I want to bait him over
09:55 here to spend time with me because he
09:57 never spends time with me after all that
09:59 we've been through I don't even care
10:00 about Marvel movies right because Marvel
10:02 movies are for boys and women can't like
10:04 superheroes I'm just making sacrifices
10:06 to stop enjoying my life not doing
10:08 things I want to do or grow as a person
10:10 have a hobby all for him to just pay me
10:12 the slightest bit of attention no one
10:14 appreciates sacrifices they didn't ask
10:16 for do what you want to do if that
10:19 doesn't feel like quality time speak up
10:21 if you feel like this relationship is
10:22 costing everything you want from Life
10:24 speak up otherwise shut up holy [Â __Â ]
10:29 we're not even halfway through by the
10:30 way and if you do speak up and that's
10:32 not what he wants it's okay to move on
10:34 with your life if you feel like you
10:35 could do better and deserve more go
10:37 reach for it but don't go crawling back
10:39 just because you don't like the new life
10:40 you have after you've thrown away your
10:42 old one and destroyed all semblance of
10:44 Peace for yourself and your family stop
10:45 wasting your time doing things that
10:47 don't make you happy you literally have
10:49 this one life and you're choosing to cry
10:51 on Tick Tock rather than make a
10:52 meaningful difference obviously he's
10:54 happy and comfortable the way it is and
10:55 if you divorce him he'll probably just
10:56 enjoy more of his free time after a
10:58 [Â __Â ] up dark period of feeling
10:59 worthless and that nothing that he does
11:01 is enough because that's what you're
11:03 saying here nothing that has happened
11:04 before was enough for you absolute
11:07 Insanity aside he based this entire rant
11:11 on the assumption that she's pretending
11:14 to like the movies like you never stop
11:16 to think Hmm what if this thing I'm
11:18 making up isn't actually true that would
11:21 kind of destroy my entire argument and
11:23 make me look like an [Â __Â ] nah I'll do
11:26 it anyway isn't it fun though that the
11:27 internet is so used to just yelling at
11:29 each other all the time that you can
11:30 post two videos with essentially the
11:32 same thesis and cause a riot for two
11:35 opposite reasons social media is so fun
11:37 I'm having a great time now if you're
11:39 anything like me seeing all of this
11:41 unasked for discourse kind of makes you
11:43 never want to post any private
11:45 information about yourself because
11:47 people are just going to use it to bully
11:49 you or speculate on your behalf you
11:51 might even think to post a tick tock
11:53 where you're like hey my partner doesn't
11:55 post about me on social media but that
11:57 doesn't mean the relationship doesn't
11:59 work because he loves me in real life
12:00 and that's really all that matters to me
12:02 only to find out that even that's wrong
12:04 too God and don't even get me started on
12:05 parenting Tick Tock I would never in a
12:09 million years post a video of my child
12:12 because I'm just gonna get a bunch of
12:14 comments from people telling me that I'm
12:16 doing everything wrong you'll see a
12:17 video of a kid falling down right I'm
12:19 not saying I'd seek those kind of videos
12:21 out or anything it's just sometimes they
12:23 pop up and I watch them okay but the kid
12:25 will fall down right and the mom will be
12:27 like oh no are you okay and someone will
12:28 comment wrong let her get up on her own
12:30 or she'll never learn how to be
12:31 independent and then you'll see the same
12:33 kind of video where the parent will
12:35 instead be like hey buddy you're you're
12:36 fine just shake it off wrong she's
12:38 clearly hurt you were supposed to keep
12:40 her safe and you failed and now she'll
12:42 never trust anyone and it's all your
12:44 fault it's like okay what am I supposed
12:46 to do then because it doesn't seem like
12:49 anything is right to you guys what's
12:51 ironic about this though is I feel like
12:52 a lot of these kind of commenters are
12:54 the same people who will shame young
12:55 people for not having kids yet come on
12:58 guys be useful to society give birth
13:01 already and then post about them so we
13:04 can nitpick all of your choices really
13:05 though that's just like the whole
13:06 internet right now no matter what kind
13:08 of con that you're making no matter what
13:10 you're doing you'll just be living your
13:11 life and then someone will be like um
13:13 that's not how I would do it well I

13:20 discourse uh partly because I found it
13:22 on Twitter I mean in general when a tick
13:23 tock gets reposted to Twitter it's not

13:30 piece of [Â __Â ] I found we should set
13:32 their house on fire day one of being a
13:34 stay-at-home husband
13:36 made us some tea and cuddled on the
13:39 and then I started to pack her lunch
13:41 before she went to work with all her
13:44 snuck in a love note drove her to work
13:47 you get the idea you know it's a guy who
13:49 loves his wife and is clearly doing a
13:51 good job of taking care of her they seem
13:53 to be in a healthy happy relationship
13:54 not really anything to judge right this
13:57 is more disturbing than gold in what
14:00 universe is that a superior life to
14:02 living alone a terrible lesbian couple
14:04 okay I lost it at the beyond me jerky
14:06 I'm sorry was there like a meeting they
14:07 all went to where they all decided one

14:19 picture like this I promise you they're
14:20 about to say the worst take you've ever
14:22 heard the only thing gay here is using a
14:25 straw at home fellas is it gay to drink
14:29 stuff have you noticed it like
14:30 everything has discourse now everything
14:33 is a debate even if it doesn't need to
14:35 be and some of it is constructive of
14:37 course some of it is very much worth
14:38 having but then I'll see people arguing
14:41 about like which basketball player is
14:43 having a better season or how much cream
14:45 you're supposed to put in your coffee
14:46 like the fate of the world is on the
14:48 line I feel like there's this anger
14:50 that's seeped into every part of the
14:52 internet and it's so hard to avoid
14:54 without just staying off of it all
14:55 together like you'll see the most
14:57 innocuous comment in the world that for
14:59 some reason as 97 replies and you're
15:02 like huh what happened here in the most
15:03 recent reply will be like no I'm not the
15:05 one defending genocide you're the one
15:07 it's like huh how did they what who even
15:10 brought that up and I think what really
15:11 sucks about it is so much of it is by
15:13 Design like there were those documents
15:15 that came out that showed Facebook's
15:16 algorithm was more likely to suggest
15:18 something if a lot of people were using
15:20 the angry reaction emoji and then
15:22 outside of Facebook on Twitter I've
15:24 noticed that a lot of times the tweet at
15:26 the top of a thread is not the one with
15:28 the most likes but the one with the most
15:29 replies because it's the most
15:31 controversial it is the most likely way
15:33 to stretch out the amount of time you
15:35 spend on that thread because now instead
15:37 of just the one original paragraph
15:39 there's now dozens of insane ramblings
15:41 for you to scroll through even Instagram
15:43 is starting to show some of the worst
15:44 com comments near the top that's how I
15:46 found the ones in this video I wasn't
15:47 scrolling to the bottom they were at the
15:49 top and it's all because the computer
15:50 told them that these kind of comments
15:52 increase engagement let's not worry
15:54 about what kind of Engagement let's not
15:56 worry about the fact that this specific
15:58 kind of Engagement actually makes people
15:59 feel like [Â __Â ] and they're worse off
16:02 when they leave the app than they were
16:03 when they came onto the app and not only
16:05 is this making the overall user
16:07 experience more negative but by showing
16:09 the hateful comments to more people
16:10 because you know that that's what will
16:12 get them to interact with it aren't you
16:14 like actively encouraging people to
16:16 write hateful things like most of the
16:18 time if someone's being an [Â __Â ]
16:19 online they're just doing it to rile
16:20 people up they're doing it to get a
16:22 response and if the algorithms did a
16:24 better job of flagging and suppressing
16:26 those things and maybe after a while
16:27 those people would be like hmm it seems
16:29 my efforts are fruitless this is no way
16:31 to spend my days I need to get my [Â __Â ]
16:33 together and then they like put on a
16:35 suit and tie but from like the user side
16:37 our side I don't really know what the
16:39 answer is besides just like spending
16:41 less time on the internet it just sucks
16:43 though because sometimes it's really fun
16:45 you know sometimes I don't get pissed
16:47 off at all I just laugh a lot I like the
16:49 internet I like connecting with people
16:51 across the world I like finding new
16:54 talented creators and following them and
16:56 seeing what kind of stuff they make
16:57 there's so much good out there I just I
17:00 wish it wasn't so depressing sometimes
17:02 anyway for all the people who have sat
17:04 through this whole rant and didn't care
17:06 because they don't really listen to me
17:08 when I talk and they only watch these
17:09 videos to see the ad read at the end
