00:05organization but we're United by our
00:08vision and values our vision is the
00:11future we will create together a strong
00:13green heartbeat for London from running
00:16a tube service across the city to
00:18securing funding on a multi-million
00:20pound project and thousands of things in
00:23between the work we all do is different
00:25it makes organizing ourselves as one
00:28connected business all the more
00:29challenging so much about London
00:32transport and how our customers live
00:34work and travel has changed in the last
00:36few years so we've had to think about
00:38how we can work better together
00:41in 2022 leaders across tfl began working
00:44out how to define what we do
00:47they created a value chain a production
00:50line of all the things we do within tfl
00:53to deliver for London
00:55but it's not simply left to right and
00:57everyone sits in one bit most of us will
01:00see which part our work lines up with
01:02but the things we do and the way we work
01:04often affect several different parts of
01:07the value chain at once
01:09this is all very well in theory but what
01:11does it mean in practice
01:13let's put an example through the value
01:15chain the bank station upgrade is a
01:17helpful one to look at
01:20starting with the first box our plans we
01:24needed the plans consents the policies
01:27the buy-in from City Hall boroughs and
01:30stakeholders to even start a project
01:33we needed the technology and data that
01:35supports it we needed to understand what
01:38our customers needed from it and how our
01:40operational colleagues could benefit
01:42next along the production line the money
01:44we had to fund the project the work the
01:47people who will deliver it we had to buy
01:49all the materials and that's not just a
01:52job for the finance team colleagues
01:54across the business were involved then
01:57once we got the plans and the money we
01:59had to design it engineer it and build
02:02it all using the latest Innovation and
02:05Technology available and once built
02:07we've got to keep it working for as long
02:09as possible safely and reliably for our
02:12customers all the while we still had to
02:14run a service we kept the station open
02:17throughout minimized closures and
02:19supported customers with other options
02:21to get around when needed
02:23and finally underpinning the whole thing
02:26enable and support everything that goes
02:29on behind the scenes to keep things
02:31going we paid salaries paid bills we
02:34continued to collect revenue from
02:35customers we followed all the required
02:37legal safety and environmental processes
02:40supported and developed our people and
02:42communicated it all with stakeholders
02:44customers and our colleagues this is a
02:47great example of the value chain in
02:50action the project engaged a diverse
02:52range of people across our whole
02:55organization but we need to apply that
02:57way of working to everything we do no
03:00matter how big or small by being aware
03:03of how our whole business operates we
03:06can all work better together as one
