03:21but just before we walked in before we
03:24walked up the stairs the guard stopped
03:26us and said put your phones away once we
03:29see you take out phone that will be

11:56Europe thing but I'm curious that the
11:58place that you and your boyfriend went
12:00to did they charger cover charge yeah we
12:04pay for the drinks so we so all you need
12:07to do is buy one drink and you can watch
12:08the whole show cuz it feels like a like
12:11theater it's like those theater that you

12:52you left that kind of place so that's
12:54why we didn't go okay so one thing but
12:56your place that that the place you went
12:58sounds fun I me if it was just if it
13:01just drinks right CU it's really fun to
13:03try to observe and try to guess what's
13:05going on at the same time so that corner
13:07that I I told you behind the curtain
13:10it's just half close so you can still
13:12see the ass and the guy lying down did

13:21they might say hey how there's that

15:33the coolest part is that he would do a
15:36city specific bit in the beginning to
15:39catch the whole crowd to bring all the
15:41crowd to his side right I think and and
15:44then the jokes that he made was based on
15:47a lot of knowledge of you know that he
15:50really knowledge of the city I think
15:53it's so cool like he was like making
15:55jokes about LA right and it was like
15:58people they were just like laughing and

16:02make jokes about all Races yeah everyone

16:13remember but Armenian Armenians but all
16:16of it anything that you might think

16:21all of them yeah and it was hilarious
16:24about him and I think that's his

17:04and we talk about being a dad you know
17:06having kids stuff like that and Anda

17:11thousand times funnier can you tell us
17:13what what was that that you mentioned
17:15your fear yeah like as a dad how because
17:18you have a baby girl right you as a guy
17:21you know what's going on in a guy's mind
17:24right and you know the world is against
17:26a girl yeah and like okay that I know
17:30what's going on and worry that you know
17:33what she might be facing no no I think
17:36he and say something I know should I
17:39like love her even more if it's like too
17:42much would if it's not loving her even
17:45not not giving her enough security maybe
17:46she'll

20:56that makes me cry cuz that was he at the
20:58end and that I I'm sure that he does

22:59Mark also went to do open mic over there

23:04well for open micers that even he was
23:07paid even though he was just started
23:09starting out like many many years ago
23:11wow and he say his entire trip was
23:14covered by just performing that open mic

23:24comy clubs I think it could be because
23:26he he got so much money
23:29so he was trying to help these people

24:32um the other day I was filming at a Dr
24:35Queen um performing bar and the drag
24:38queen there was just telling me about
24:40this and I didn't know anything about it
24:42at the time and then it was like the
24:44whole team everybody was celebrating yes
24:47they they were all cheering for her they
24:50all hoped that she's going to win
24:51because that was before she won oh that
24:54was before she won yes and I only knew
24:57probably two days before she won yeah
25:00also I learned about him two days before
25:03or her sorry uh before it's him him
25:06before he won because my mom was just
25:09telling me that hey there's this very
25:12cool Tyran person who was on the ruple
25:14show yeah rupo show and he's my mom's
25:17friends want us to learn about him I was
25:19like oh cool so I started to look it up
25:22and then just two days later he won the
25:24championship season 16 cuz he's the
25:27first Asian
25:28that won the first Asian not just first
25:30Taiwanese I think the first or East
25:33Asian no the last no the last Asian who
25:36won was 13 years ago or something really
25:40anyway so rupo shows was R stag race
25:43it's really really famous in the in the
25:46states it's like so famous I remember
25:48you remember two years ago I went to uh
25:50LA on San Francisco to see my best
25:53friends yeah and they they said that
25:55they bought the old star tickets for
25:57That season of the root pole show and it
26:00was like sold out immediately so they
26:01had to like wait online and make sure
26:04that they they were able to get it that
26:06famous so it was like so mainstream so
26:09they were tour wow it's that mainstream
26:11it was that mainstream according to my
26:13friends I mean they're from California
26:14of course California people are really
26:16liberal but still means that they
26:18probably could make some Wow money yeah
26:22so I'm so happy for for him yeah because
26:25I I I heard that is in recent years
26:29right like all apparently all his shows
26:32have been have been selling out way
26:34before he went on the show because I he
26:36was just that good so I think it's
26:38really really cool I think he was he is
26:40a like real artist I saw a lot of his
26:42dresses his outfit and he made he sold
26:45pretty much all of his dresses by
26:46himself yeah I think that's one thing
26:48that's really impressive because he does
26:51all of it on his own no matter the
26:53makeup the hair everything I think most
26:55of the DRS does that but he he went
26:57beyond on like just a regular you know
27:00outfit well he went to a art school in
27:04England like creative art school or
27:06something so I think yeah it's really
27:09cool I started to uh watch some of the
27:11shows that the tanese government or rpbs
27:15made about him I think his mom is really
27:18cool too cuz his mom has been super
27:20supportive right right and I think his
27:22success has a lot to do with his mom
27:25because um in one of a interview in
27:27mandrin a lot of dra Queens all
27:30mentioned that their family weren't
27:33supporting in the very beginning but his
27:36mom actually said something that
27:38actually made me cry the other day when
27:40I was watching the interview cuz she
27:42mentioned you were giving birth to this
27:44kid but you don't own them you don't own
27:47your kids so you should support them
27:50otherwise how about like you know one
27:53day if I pass away then he's not having
27:56his own life anymore he's just for you
27:59and he was ALS no she was also
28:01criticizing other parents who aren't
28:03supporting their kids who no matter want
28:05to be um who wants to transform or who
28:09who want who who identify themselves as
28:11another gender she was saying like I
28:13don't understand what kind of love is
28:15that if you don't love them as who they
28:18really are so even if your daughter to
28:22do only F in the future you probably
28:24should support
28:26her I may not subscribe but I will
28:30definely love her right right and and
28:33one thing that you just mentioned
28:35whether um if he is a he or a she he
28:38actually identified himself okay um he
28:41didn't really mention whether he
28:43identified himself as a he or a she um
28:46he said that his real name is Leo but
28:49once he's on the stage then he's nyia
28:53nyia and she he mentioned that what he
28:56sees it is that's kind of like a
28:58camouflage for him because he feels like
29:01it's a totally different personality
29:03that he is on the stage and um he could
29:06just say whatever he wants even
29:09something that he wouldn't dare to say
29:12when he's Leo cuz he seems like a really
29:14shy person yeah he said he transformed
29:17right he said that he expresses that
29:19through his office and perform yeah I
29:21think you know when I was watching that
29:22part you know those like superpower
29:25giving them superpowers or like this
29:27toan she superhero make them into
29:31superheroes right cuz once they put on
29:33the costume there's somebody else just
29:34like Superman he take that they didn't
29:37have he yeah he went from Clarken to
29:39Superman right right he also mentioned
29:43one thing because what we see of him on
29:46stage is super confident and very
29:48appealing very affectionate so for for
29:52us it's like we would thought that he's
29:54very confident but he mentioned one of
29:57the most difficult things things is that
29:59to bring that energy on stage and being
30:02super energized because we would thought
30:04that he enjoyed it but he said that's
30:06actually the most difficult part of the
30:08whole performing for
30:10him I totally understand though and he's
30:13also TI Taiwanese taian he's pretty
30:14Taiwanese before I thought that okay I
30:17heard he's born in the states and then
30:19his English is pretty near perfect so I
30:22I kind of assumed that he grew out in
30:23the states and I feel like oh no he
30:25actually spent a lot of time in Taiwan
30:27he did a lot of his uh Drag Queen
30:29performance in Taiwan for a few years as
30:31well and then he also uh knew that there
30:34was a there was a big limit in Taiwan
30:37you could only do so much and all the
30:39mainstream all the shows all the
30:41opportunity is in the states that's why
30:42he moved to the to New York probably
30:45like 26 or 27 yeah around that age oh
30:47when he was okay when he was 20 how old
30:50is how old is he now not sure probably
30:5330 something and then he said that it
30:55was really hard for him because of
30:58course uh I mean as a lgbtq as a drag
31:01queen you already feel like you're an
31:03outsider to some extent and then you're
31:05also a Taiwanese like your Taiwanese
31:07you're not like completely fit in so it
31:09took a took him a while to to he only
31:1329 oh two years two three years ago so I
31:17said oh that was really Brave that he
31:19just made that decision to move to New
31:21York and he said that yeah his mom was
31:23really uh was really supportive uh his
31:25mom went to Italy at the same time when
31:27he moved to New York and then he said
31:29because his mom always had a dream to
31:32stay in Italy and learn
31:34Italian yeah the mom is really cool I
31:36know I was like okay cool I I watched
31:39some of the documentaries on how the the
31:42mother and son interact it's just they
31:46look like friends oh wow yeah it's
31:48really really different it's really
31:50different I think for the kids to do
31:52something that's very courageous it
31:54always needs the family to give this
31:57person a full support no matter how much
32:01criticism or you know how they're being
32:04judged by the outside world if you let
32:07them know that we'll always be here and
32:09support you then that's how they can be
32:11more relieved and just put all their
32:14energy into do whatever they want it's
32:17hard though it's hard it is it it's hard
32:20like my family totally support me doing
32:22podcast way before we were your family
32:25is always supportive but but I think Kye
32:29just did everything on her own though I
32:31mean my family is supportive I know that
32:33they'll always be there for me but I'm
32:35kind of like I want to be prove myself I
32:38want to prove myself was there any time
32:41that they weren't supportive for things
32:43that you do where they're not really um
32:45they don't really like things that you
32:47do I mean I I'm sure that I would say
32:49that deep in my mind I know that they
32:51will always support me they can't they
32:54can't do anything about what I want to
32:55do to be honest but uh of course of
32:57course they probably will prefer me not
33:00to do all this internet stuff and I
33:02criticize uh political issues all the
33:04time I I don't think they genuinely
33:07liked it but I I still do anyways have
33:09they ever mentioned it to you like oh
33:11don't mention so much about your sexual
33:13life or all these oh yeah all the
33:16time how do you respond to them cuz
33:18that's what I'm facing right now all
33:21your family saying that oh wow
33:23interesting now because of your podcast
33:25now or why to every just tell her not to
33:30just tell her not to her not to cuz my
33:32mom has a really hard time because I was
33:34doing standup that was even crazier than
33:37just podcast sharing stories I think it
33:39was really hard for my parents to do it
33:41I think my dad started to watch my first
33:44first special last time after like what
33:47five or six years he even got friends
33:49telling him like is this your daughter
33:51or something right so yeah yeah they had
33:53this all the time to be like oh my God
33:55look at this kid this is so hard to be
33:57her parents right yeah they they got
34:00this all the time so I imagine they
34:01probably face a lot of peer pressure you
34:03know how does he deal with that I don't
34:05know I never asked you have you thought
34:07about asking I mean I didn't cuz my dad
34:10was is not really like talkative but the
34:13fact that he actually was there for my
34:15special last year for me it says
34:17everything but people told me that he
34:19looks so uncomfortable and he's
34:21constantly on his phone cuz he didn't
34:22want to talk to anyone yo you know what
34:25I just
34:26realized that is so much like like your
34:30husband because your husband is
34:32uncomfortable in so much situ in a lot
34:34of situations he is totally fine with
34:37that I think he's fine but he still
34:38looks awkward sometimes I think no I
34:40think my husband is a lot more
34:42comfortable than my dad still man really
34:45okay you feel
34:47that you're that's if your daughter grew
34:51up like me God oh my God cuz now I'm
34:54just really glad that lendon doesn't
34:56speak men
34:58yet cuz there was one thing he learning
35:00it yes just tell him not to tell him to
35:03learn Spanish or
35:05something he really wants to be able to
35:08communicate with my family so now he's
35:09really putting the effort learning bu mu
35:12even making the it's it's going to take
35:15a long time until he could understand
35:16your PO don't worry don't sometimes I
35:19like one thing that I mention and he's
35:21like that's my privacy it's Peggy show
35:24now L for show why why do you mention
35:26anything about me I'm like oh I'm sorry
35:29I thought that's interesting okay it
35:31takes a lot of communication that's all
35:33I could say yeah it's going to be hard
35:36and so so your parents not what are
35:38their feedbacks okay so if it's just for
35:42the audience she doesn't really care but
35:44the thing is because a lot of um Elder
35:48people they're also like sharing my
35:50videos especially the Rotary Club they
35:52invited me to give give out speech so
35:55now at first my Mom feels so proud oh
35:57yeah yeah that's my daughter or that's
35:58something that everybody's like oh this
36:00girl was coming to to the rotary to give
36:02out speeches or something and then
36:04different clubs invited me and then now
36:07once I started to talk since our first
36:09episode together talking about those
36:11like you know my sexual lives or
36:12something and then she's like could you
36:14just just just not keep on saying but
36:17did she try to stop you or is she kind
36:19of like gently give you some nice advice
36:23so my response was it's okay just don't
36:26watch it then if you have so much to say
36:28oh my God you're just like me you're
36:29like me three years ago but now now she
36:33she starts uh now she starts to um do a
36:36more Gentle Way so she's like uh it's
36:38for your security it's for your safety
36:41maybe don't tell people that you get
36:43drunk and just forgot like you know
36:45passed out or black out it's for your
36:48safety it's for your saf hang out with
36:50Ken and Kylie I think they bat
36:55influence but would you Lista would you
36:57listen would you change the way you do
36:59your shows because of your parents I
37:01actually started to think about that
37:03like maybe I shouldn't mention so much
37:05about it because I I started to think
37:08like okay maybe if I want to there are
37:10so many different ways to have good
37:12shows not that I always have to talk
37:15about things like this yeah of course
37:17you can talk about so many different
37:19things but just once in a while just
37:21like at this beginning of the show you
37:23yeah yeah that that's that's what I
37:24thought like I'll decrease the am M but
37:28I'll still talk about but you won't
37:29delete it no okay then that means you're
37:32not listening oh really okay I mean I'm
37:34just saying that you just you you will
37:36respect them to some extent but you
37:38won't change drastically the way you do
37:40your shows right right so just tell tell
37:43them you love them Minor Adjustments yes

37:47adjustments and tell them how much you
37:49love them yeah yeah give them some money
37:51to like uh just say oh this is how much
37:53I make now I don't think I don't think

38:06family like a whole trip to the
38:08Philippines I think they really enjoyed
38:10it like like best hotel I'm taking my
38:13parents to to Tokyo wow yeah I think
38:16just the way to show in uh early June
38:19with his baby I'm so excited I want to
38:22see how he's suffering how he'll be
38:23suffering that would be good content I
38:25actually just was it you who shared that
38:28that taking your kid on a trip the
38:31parents aren't really traveling but
38:33they're just changing another place to
38:35take care of the kid I mean I probably
38:37shareed that real um probably probably
38:40because I saw so many different versions
38:42but it's so true I I think it's true I
38:44don't know if it's because of you but
38:46the algorithm keeps hit hitting me that
38:49I keep on a lot of kid I think it's also
38:52because you send me those stuff too once
38:56you reare that then Alm thinks that you
38:59like it and then they will give you more
39:01but actually I do so you know let them
39:04let them feel pressured no no no because
39:06I'm teaching kids now I see and so I
39:09really love them and I want to teach
39:11them in the right way so you know on
39:14your save list you can put them into
39:16little documents like different um
39:18categories so one of the categories is
39:20kid so now like whenever parents are
39:23talking about how do you treat your
39:25kids appropriately out them in that
39:28little file oh okay Co and you know you
39:31can turn you can change those list from
39:34private to public now you can share with
39:35your friends I don't want to you don't
39:38want to the kid we have some share
39:39folders I feel ashamed really I have a
39:42sh we also have shared folders but uh
39:45yeah some like you know just some ideas
39:47ideas like for for for ads or for real
39:50ideas or or joke ideas I this yeah you
39:54can share those kids kids files with me
39:57maybe not her not Kye but you can share
39:59it with me what oh yeah I don't really
40:00watch a lot of baby re I I watch a lot
40:03of dogs dogs and babies I'm okay it
40:05needs to come go to that combination and
40:08another thing that got me start to think
40:10about should I start to change a little
40:11bit of my content is because also
40:13because of my students because of the
40:15kids they're they're now at the age that
40:17they can start scrolling and they they
40:19would tell me hey I saw you the other
40:21day doing this I was like oh [ __ ] like I
40:24I will say that now you have all this uh
40:26that means you made it yeah cuz your
40:29real are doing really again congrats
40:32congrats congrats if you if you are
40:34nobody nobody really gives a [ __ ] about
40:36what you said in your show right so you
40:38made it now you're you're pretty big
40:40congratulations I'm happy for you thank
40:42you you're number one during Chinese New
40:44Year
40:48man still that's still still it means a
40:51lot it means a lot it means a lot
40:53because no one really listened to
40:54podcast during Chinese New Year and your
40:56show still went up that means your show
40:58that makes people want to listen to it
41:00even during Chinese it's hard so
41:03congrats congrats for real it's not I
41:05think I I think cuz I think I've been
41:07there so you you have so many different
41:09roles cuz I I was interpreter I was a
41:11host I was a podcaster and then I still
41:13went to China to do a lot of gigs that
41:15pays a lot of money like back in the
41:17days CU I was an interpreter they pay a
41:19lot of money so you have so many
41:21different roles and you you you you want
41:23to protect all of them cuz that's how
41:25you are now right but you're going to
41:26reach a point that you need to make some
41:28adjustments and sacrifice you probably
41:30need to give away some roles that you
41:32that's the thing you will need you will
41:33find out don't worry rest of the
41:35students like honestly I don't really
41:38care cuz I care about myself more than
41:40them seriously even if I I've never
41:42mentioned it to any of the parents that
41:44I'm doing um the social media yes till
41:47they F found out by themselves they'll
41:49send it to me like is this you I was
41:51like oh yeah but then I just you know
41:54cancel all the classes when I start to
41:56be like you know have more other side
41:58gigs that I I really could so you would
42:00choose no these two kids I just really
42:02love them and I now I started to worry
42:05that I would affect them or because even
42:07their friends started to ask them like
42:09is your teacher Peggy from my podcast
42:12because I mentioned oh I teach I didn't
42:13even say their names I didn't mention
42:15anything I just say they're twins and
42:16then people start to guess could it be
42:18them and then they identity problem
42:21right right and then so their parents
42:23send me a screenshot of other people
42:24asking them that sorry to to like affect
42:28you because they're they're very lowkey
42:30I see I see very very lowkey in that
42:32case you need to like hide their
42:34identity even more make it like Blurry
42:37and also because of the things that I
42:39I'm talking about on the internet and
42:41that really got me like start to think
42:42about should I like you know talk about
42:44sexual lives drinking all these things
42:47less because I don't want them to see it
42:49where their friend was say how how can
42:50you hire someone like this as a teacher
42:52I think to some at some point you're to
42:56pick your
42:57exactly you and people who still want to
42:59hire you as a teacher will have to
43:02accept that you are you are a drinker
43:04and you have crazy sex lives exactly CU
43:07that's my problem too that's why my old
43:09uh clients don't hire me anymore cuz I'm
43:12crazy as a host but now whoever hires me
43:15want me to wants me to be they know what
43:18the package comes with exactly if you
43:20don't talk like sex jokes on the state
43:21you'll be like oh this is not we are
43:23paying for so I mean it's going to be
43:26like a time that it's really hard but uh
43:28eventually a transitional period I think
43:30by by this time next year you'll be okay
43:32yeah but this year talk to us in private
43:35and then we'll see okay okay okay this
43:38turns into my
