00:11it's a cold and foggy winter morning and
00:14I'm standing on the world's tallest
00:18platform the platform I'm standing on is
00:21so tiny that I have to stand on my toes
00:24and balance myself against the
00:27wind the operator ties one end of the
00:30bungee cord to my ankle and throws a
00:33slack in the air I can feel the weight
00:36of the Rope on my ankle slowly dragging
00:39down I look down all the buildings and
00:42roads are buried in heavy
00:44fog there is only one voice in my head I
00:49this so I turn around and tell them that
00:53quit and then I see a huge quote printed
00:57on the glass window right next to me
01:01life begins at the edge of your comfort
01:04zone I don't know why but this short yet
01:06powerful sentence gives me the final
01:08push and before I realize it I walk
01:10straight back to the platform and jump
01:12off the world's highest bungee
01:28platform during the 5 seconds of freef
01:30fall I remember thinking to myself it's
01:37looks and that thought led to A Whole
01:41World every time I hear the voice of
01:43fear in my head I can't leave this job
01:46because I'm not going to find anything
01:48better I'm scared of entering a new
01:50relationship because I don't want to be
01:52hurt again and even a minute ago before
01:54I walked onto the stage the voice was
01:57repeating in my head every time I hear
02:00that voice I take a deep
02:03breath and tell myself it's never as
02:09looks let me take you back to the summer
02:132007 a remote Village in Cambodia a
02:16small room in the domestic violence
02:19victim center it's my first day of work
02:22I walked into room and was introduced to
02:25an 18-year-old girl her name was
02:28Chia Chia was so emotionally physically
02:31abused that she was trembling all the
02:33time and she couldn't even look at me in
02:34the eyes and on her face I saw fear
02:40shame and that day Chia refused to take
02:43our help and went back to her husband
02:46and in the course of next few months she
02:48would do that again and again only come
02:51back with more bruises and
02:53cuts Chia knew that she should leave her
02:56husband but she was scared to because
02:58she had been married to her him since 14
03:01depended on him for survival and did not
03:03know that she could live a life on her
03:07own to help Chia and thousands of other
03:10girls like Chia I started a vocational
03:14program after three months of training
03:17magic happened Chia regained confidence
03:20and dignity stepped out of the fear of
03:22failure found a new job in local hotel
03:24and separated with her husband she
03:27started a new chapter of life at the
03:33zone sheia might be an extreme example
03:36but I can see myself in her and maybe
03:40too what is it that you're not doing
03:43because of fear or failure finding a new
03:45job starting a new company or asking
03:48someone out for a date for me it was the
03:53speaking whatever it is I encourage you
03:56to try it because as Chia found and I
03:58found and and I think you will find too
04:01it's never as scary as it looks and
04:04you're stronger and more capable than
04:08thought the second story is about
04:13uncertainty my friend John lives an
04:15extremely comfortable life in Hong Kong
04:18he works from 9 to 5 and receives a very
04:21pay but he's dispassionate about his job
04:24and life and he's constantly
04:27complaining he has lived his whole life
04:29with certainty that the fear of losing
04:31what he had is stopping him from
04:35passion until one morning I got a call
04:38from him hi iin I went to a positive
04:41psychology class last quarter got so
04:44inspired I quit my job today and I'm
04:47Australia you what what are you going to
04:50do with your life I asked he said this
04:53is the first time in life that I don't
04:55have a plan and I feel every bit as
04:57scared as I'm excited
05:00the next time I saw him was 6 months
05:02later he just got back from Australia a
05:07hypnotherapist from a traitor to a
05:10hypnotherapist I was shocked when I saw
05:12him again his face was pink eyes
05:14glittering his whole body was just
05:17glowing he is living his dream right now
05:20traveling around the world giving
05:21workshops and therapy sessions for
05:23thousands of people to find happiness in
05:26life and as with cheer I I could see
05:30myself in John and maybe you can too
05:35uncertainty giving up all you have to
05:38pursue a dream that may or may not work
05:40out loving someone with whole heart
05:42without guarantee it's incredibly hard
05:46but as John found and I found and I
05:49think you will find too it's never as
05:52scary as it looks and it leads to more
05:55possibilities and happiness in
06:00the last story is about
06:03vulnerability and the last story is
06:08me my love for my parents is the
06:11strongest emotion in my life but in
06:14Asian culture love is seldom expressed
06:17words it makes me feel extremely
06:19uncomfortable to tell them I love you or
06:21to even share my feelings with
06:24them our daily conversation is a
06:27combination of what I had for lunch and
06:32dinner the word courage came from Latin
06:36roote C which means heart and the
06:39original meaning of Courage is to tell
06:41the story of who you are with your whole
06:44heart I don't know why I have the
06:47courage to stand here today and share my
06:49story with you but I don't have the
06:51courage to tell my parents I love
06:55you they raised me with love so much
07:00they made me believe I'm worthy of love
07:02not because of what I achieve but
07:06am yet I so desperately want to be this
07:09perfect child for them I share my
07:12happiness and achievements and withhold
07:16failures and as I'm proud of my
07:19achievements I didn't know that this
07:21created a huge emotional gap between us
07:24and we no longer share the Joy and Pain
07:27of each other's life Journey
07:32I've been experiencing a tough time
07:35recently a heartbroken ending of
07:39relationship many questions about
07:41friendship and deep insecurity about
07:44future a couple of weeks ago I came back
07:47from an exhausting recruiting trip from
07:49New York the moment I walked in my room
07:52in darkness I experienced an emotional
07:57breakdown I called my mom
08:00and burst into tears the moment I heard
08:03voice and for the next hour and the
08:06first time in my life I shared my
08:09her and even though she hasn't been with
08:12me in this journey for so long she
08:14understands exactly what I've been going
08:17through the feeling of reconnection
08:19after so many years is like
08:22magic in the end I told her I love you
08:27and she said I love you too
08:30it's the first time remember either of
08:33that I didn't expect what felt so
08:36uncomfortable previously came so natural
08:39and peacefully in the
08:43end I see Life as a constant fight
08:47against your comfort zone you push it it
08:52back what's the fear that's holding you
08:55back what are you not saying or doing
08:58because it's out outside your comfort
09:00zone I challenge you to find that
09:03comfort zone today bravely step out of
09:06it and as you get comfortable again push
09:12further don't try to get rid of fear
09:15accept that you will be afraid and then
09:19anyway as the word said high on the
09:24platform life begins at the edge of your
