00:10become such a daunting task like how
00:13often do you ask yourself do I really
00:15have to watch this mixing tutorial do I
00:18have to finish this track do I really
00:20have to make music today what the heck
00:22this whole thing used to be fun that's
00:25why you're doing it in the first place
00:29right cuz you enjoy it and if you do
00:31enjoy it then that's great but you did
00:34click on this video so I'm assuming
00:36there is a part of the music making
00:38process that you do struggle with so
00:41think of that right now what is that
00:44part of the music making process
00:46composition mixing is it Arrangement
00:49have you got it in your mind okay so do
00:51you enjoy it if you would be truly
00:53enjoying it it most likely wouldn't be
00:56much of a problem if it was internally
00:58rewarding you just want to do it and you
01:01would improve at it naturally like think
01:03back to the times when you were a kid
01:05did you struggle with swinging on the
01:08swing in the playground did you have to
01:10force yourself to do it no it was fun so
01:14we just did it I think it's a pretty
01:16Universal rule of life that we do what
01:19we like to do that's just how we're
01:20programmed so in this video I'm going to
01:22give you some tips on how you can make
01:25the music making process a little bit
01:26more enjoyable for yourself I'm going to
01:28cover composition and Arrangement and
01:30mixing and mastering not everything is
01:32going to apply to everyone but if you
01:34can take at least one thing from this
01:35video and apply it in your process I
01:37think that has the potential to change
01:40the course of your music production
01:42career and the progress you make but
01:44first I want to warn you about the most
01:46common reason why music producers lose
01:49their passion for the craft from my
01:51experience my best ideas are like
01:54butterflies when I try to catch them I
01:57only scare them away they have to come
02:00to me by themselves so when you sit down
02:02to make some music telling yourself you
02:04have to make a banger today you're
02:06pretty much setting yourself up for
02:08failure straight away that's way too
02:11much pressure you're running after that
02:13butterfly of course it's going to fly
02:15away I'd say it's more beneficial to
02:18adopt a mindset of outcome Independence
02:21instead of setting the goal of making a
02:24great track try setting a goal to make a
02:27track or even to just sit down and open
02:30up your Daw today instead of running
02:33after that butterfly just go outside and
02:36sit in the grass you don't even have to
02:38make a track you don't have to do
02:40anything you can just stare at the daw's
02:43interface for 30 minutes which let's be
02:47honest that's just going to be too
02:48boring so you're probably going to end
02:51up making some sounds anyways outcome
02:53inde dependent make music for the sake
02:55of it it should be its own reward and
02:58even if you show up and no butterflies
03:01come I still want you to give yourself a
03:03pat on the back just for showing up your
03:05brain will start to associate that
03:08positive feeling with sitting down to
03:10make music so it will start to crave
03:13more of it see you can pretty much trick
03:15yourself into making music this way uh
03:18but yeah that was composition now I want
03:20to talk about Arrangement and getting
03:22out of the eight bar Loop cuz I know
03:24that's something people very often
03:27struggle and I'm going to be honest for
03:29me nowadays it's rarely ever a problem
03:31now that I think about it Arrangement is
03:34lowkey my most favorite part of the
03:37music making process usually I arrange
03:40my projects immediately after I compose
03:44them so I'm talking like I arranged the
03:46project literally in the same session
03:48where I came up with the idea so that I
03:50guess I'm still in the zone and for me
03:54this is very important to do it that way
03:56cuz otherwise if I lay off the
03:59arrangement for later I either don't
04:01arrange the track at all or the
04:04arrangement ends up being super Bland
04:06and uninspired so make of that what you
04:08will uh that's one thing and I think the
04:11other thing that really helps me out a
04:13lot of the time is that I I often
04:15compose my tracks with some musical
04:18moments of the arrangement already in
04:20mind so that for example I'm imagining
04:23how the break would sound like while I'm
04:25still in the eight bar Loop that way I'm
04:28actually looking forward to
04:30seeing how the arrangement is going to
04:32turn out like I I can't wait just
04:34recently I did this in a very simple way
04:36like I I recorded a vocal that I wanted
04:38to appear just before the drop and I
04:43actually let me just show you so this is
04:45what the track sounded
04:53like so the beat came first and this
04:56track had a kind of vibe that I really
04:58wanted to emphasize by adding some
05:00vocals so I recorded
05:06this yeah it's in Polish and the lyrics
05:09are just talking about how I'm better
05:11than everyone else that's that's the
05:13vibe I felt here so I I wanted this part
05:20in and then I wanted this to hit just
05:24drop so so when I laid it down I I guess
05:27it sounded as as a little something like
05:35this and from here the the truck was
05:38basically just asking me to arrange it
05:40it was begging please arrange me I I
05:43need to be arranged so arrang it I did
05:47and this is what I came up
05:58with it felt obvious to have the break
06:01like intro section here and the drop
06:05here and from from here on after that
06:07the rest of the arrangement decisions
06:09pretty much just came naturally to me
06:11cuz like I I I already had that moment I
06:14was in the zone yeah I I also improvised
06:16a little bit by introducing some Pitch
06:18shifting automation here so that's what
06:32uh so yeah that's that uh I I guess it's
06:35also just much more enjoyable in general
06:37to work on a track if you have your own
06:40vocals in there so you can add that to
06:43your bucket list of things to do use
06:45your own vocals more and the other piece
06:47of advice I have for you in terms of the
06:49arrangement is that it's much easier to
06:52do if you actually like the track and
06:54you can make yourself dance if you're
06:56playing your track through and you're
07:05then it becomes hard not to arrange and
07:07finish the project so yeah you you don't
07:10have to arrange every project I I I know
07:13I just dread the arrangement process
07:15when it comes to my less inspired track

07:34system for making the mixing and
07:36mastering process more enjoyable so
07:38first you want to listen to your truck
07:40on your favorite pair of speakers away
07:43from the studio just so you can like I
07:45don't know get out of your room for once
07:47in a while like what the [Â __Â ] in my case
07:50I love to hear my tracks on the car
07:52speakers so I listen to my track there
07:55and I also listen and compare my track
07:58to the reference track like back to back
08:00and I write down the things that I think
08:03could be improved then I go back to the
08:05studio and go through the things I wrote
08:08down and fix them then I export the
08:10truck again go back in the car to listen
08:13to it once more and at that point it
08:16just kind of becomes like a game you
08:18know I'm just checking off boxes on my
08:21to-do list and every time I do it with
08:24every iteration of the process my truck
08:27keeps just getting better and better
08:29just yesterday I I finished two of my
08:32tracks that were in the mixing and
08:34mastering stage of the process and I
08:37actually enjoyed it I I did both of them
08:39in like a total of I don't know 3 hours
08:42or something like that and I I'm really
08:44happy with how they turned out so that
08:46was mixing and I want to finish this
08:48video off with a fun little exercise for
08:51you that I want you to try out the next
08:52time you can as as we said earlier it's
08:55a lot of pressure to tell yourself oh I
08:58I need to make the Great sound ever so I
09:01want you to try making the worst sound
09:05you can make it the most vile disgusting
09:09[Â __Â ] worst thing you possibly can
09:12really try it it's fun it's an idea I
09:15got from Ben Lev he's a great guy I love
09:18him so do it now make the worst sound
09:20you possibly can the last time I tried
09:23it I actually came up with this
09:29I I didn't even end up using it in the
09:32track but it kind of inspired me and
09:35just got my creative juices flowing and
09:45this I really hope you can take at least
09:48one of these things and apply them in
