00:53hatchback and it mostly delivers the

00:55same things it always has just a little

00:58more of them and in a a cleaner and more

01:00tech-savvy package it's hard to miss the

01:04big multimedia touchscreen which grows

01:07from 8 to 11.6 in it's standard and all

01:10but base cross trcks the interior feels

01:13a little more open looks a lot less

01:16Bland and Subaru claims it's also both

01:19quieter and more comfortable we'll

01:21definitely agree on more comfortable as

01:24the front seats are much improved

01:26materials are upgraded but look and feel

01:29just as as durable as always gauges are

01:32mostly old school analog just the way we

01:35like them with only a small 4.2 in LCD

01:39display for extra info rear seats feel

01:42comfier as well and Subaru has

01:45integrated a small step into the area to

01:48give you someplace to stand when you're

01:50loading all those Adventure Necessities

01:52on the roof rack premium trim which is

01:56just one step up from base gets ladder

03:07though we did battle with some under

03:09steer during handling exercises at our

03:12Mason Dixon test track a little more

03:15steering feel would also be nice still

03:18it was plenty stable and did whatever we

03:20asked of it without getting upset or

03:22putting up any resistance standard

03:25engine in base and premium cross tracks

03:27is the same 2 L boxer 4 with the same

03:31152 horsepower and 145 LBT of torque

03:35Sport and above get a 2.5 L with 182

03:39horsepower and 178 lb feet of torque

03:43all-wheel drive and CVT come with all of

03:46course and paddle shifters on the

03:48steering wheel allow you to select from

03:51one of eight preset

03:53ratios at the test track our 2 L

03:56equipped premium behav like most Subarus

03:59there was a fairly strong initial jolt

04:01of power to get you off the line but

04:04things settle down quickly once you get

04:06rolling and it's a very leisurely stroll

04:08to 60 MPH of 10.5 seconds on the plus

04:13side the CVT has gotten smoother and

04:16engine noise is noticeably more subdued

04:19compared to last gen that makes the

04:21quarter mile experience a little more

04:23pleasant but it was still a long slow

04:26trip of 17.9 seconds finishing at 81

04:31mph in panic breaking we did experience

04:34a little bit of fade after multiple

04:36passes but stops remain smooth and

04:39stable with a decent average stopping

04:41distance of 125 ft from 60 the latest

04:45Subaru eyesight driver Assist Technology

04:48is standard but Lane keep assist and

04:51automatic emergency steering can be

04:54added government fuel economy ratings
