00:05hey i'm brandon and today we are
00:06checking out the cdx power boots now i
00:09know these look like you know if papa
00:11smurf got turned into a boot but they
00:13have a few other collar options within
00:15the line if this is not your forte i
00:17kind of like how loud these boots are
00:19pat and i have been using these off and
00:21on quite a bit and testing them out and
00:23yeah they get some looks every time
00:25we're out there on the trail so you
00:26either love them or you hate them but
00:28they are building upon the x3 i'm sure
00:31most of you are familiar with those and
00:33getting some cues from the auto boots
00:35which makes them a little bit more low
00:37profile a little bit more lighter weight
00:39you know some of the cd boots within
00:40their line are very bulky and these are
00:42certainly a little bit better off when
00:43it comes to the overall size and the
00:45bulk that they're bringing to the table
00:47they're starting at 450 bucks
00:50so they are still going to be considered
00:52an entry level boot within cds line i
00:54wouldn't say they're the most entry
00:56level but there may be just a step above
00:58which is hard to believe considering
01:00they're 450 dollars but you got to keep
01:02in mind cd is known for their quality
01:04when it comes to their footwear and the
01:05overall boots i mean this stuff lasts
01:08for a very long time i still have a pair
01:10of cd cycling boots or excuse me cycling
01:12shoes i've had for 10 years now so
01:14this stuff is built to last for sure i'm
01:16really impressed with cd quality and
01:18that's why you know their price points
01:19are a little bit higher a little bit
01:22when it comes to the overall quality so
01:24just something to keep in mind there
01:25let's talk about the fit before i get
01:26into all the nitty gritty details here
01:28so the fit i typically wear a size 10
01:30and a half to a size 11 in most of my
01:32riding shoes and riding boots i am
01:34sitting in a size 11 perfectly the toe
01:37is right there on the end though so i
01:39don't have too much wiggle room in these
01:41i have a little bit more room in the
01:43overall width i will say in comparison
01:45to some other cd options that i've tried
01:47in the past which is good for me because
01:49i have a big metal plate in
01:52around the ankle of my right leg so
01:54it is nice to have a little bit more
01:57room in that area because sometimes some
01:59of the cd boots i simply can't wear them
02:01because they lock in that ankle very
02:02nicely which is really great for the
02:04overall protection and making sure
02:06everything's secure but because of my
02:08metal plate i need a little bit more
02:09wiggle room and with these i have that
02:11just that little bit of extra wiggle in
02:13here it just feels that much more
02:15comfortable than some of the other
02:16options i've tried so i do like that but
02:18i will say in the overall length if
02:20you're in between two sizes often i'd
02:22probably go with the larger of the two
02:24personally from what i have experienced
02:26with these particular boots so just
02:27something to keep in mind there
02:29again 450 bucks so they will ship to you
02:32for free let's start talking about some
02:34of the details here and what these
02:35things are bringing to the table as you
02:37can see nice metal toe there very strong
02:39very stout if you've ridden off-road in
02:41the dirt riding application in any
02:43capacity you know you're probably going
02:44to be kicking a lot of things whether
02:46it's your bike or trees or roots or logs
02:48what have you so i do like the metal toe
02:50cap right there very stout very strong
02:53toe one thing i would note is that i
02:55wish there was a little bit more of a
02:57grip to this right here you know
02:58manipulating your shifter i think it
03:00could have used a little bit more work
03:01maybe on the next iteration we'll have
03:03some type of different material just to
03:05give it a little bit more more grip you
03:07know as you're banging through the gears
03:08there so just something uh that we
03:10noticed when we were testing these bad
03:11boys out hard tpu material as it works
03:13its way back and then some more of that
03:15microfiber and then once again we're
03:16hopping right back into that tpu
03:18material the ankle is very style and as
03:21i mentioned before it it locks in the
03:23ankle very well now i've used a variety
03:26of different riding shoes
03:28and riding boots like tech 7's i've used
03:30the liat 6.5 i've used all kinds of
03:32different options you know fox boots i
03:35really enjoy how the the ankles are on
03:37the cds because it really locks them in
03:39nice and snug so it feels very
03:40protective you feel nice and secure but
03:43as you can see you do have the dual
03:45hinge system incorporated as well on
03:47this side as you can see and that's
03:48giving you that flexibility forward and
03:50backwards but it's going to help with
03:52that medial and lateral protection right
03:55you know help you prevent from tearing
03:56your acl and things like that but you
03:58can see you've got this little blocker
04:00here as well so it's only going to allow
04:01this to flex so far backwards and you
04:04know obviously it's only going to allow
04:06it so far forward so i do like the dual
04:08hinge system it helps with the overall
04:10comfort and you know the ability to
04:12manipulate your controls but it's still
04:14giving you that stout level of
04:16protection that you're looking for and
04:17that you're going to want to have when
04:18you're out there ripping around on the
04:20trails or at the motocross track
04:22so yeah i like the dual hinge system a
04:24lot we're seeing that a lot for
04:24manufacturers i wish this went a little
04:26bit lower to help grip as you can see
04:28we've got some wear in this particular
04:30area right there on that dual hinge
04:31system i think this could have been
04:32incorporated down and maybe have some of
04:34this material right here just for a
04:36little bit better grip certainly not a
04:38deal breaker for me by any stretch of
04:39the matter i was looking at some
04:40alternative brands and things like that
04:42too just to see how kind of how low some
04:44of the gripper panels went and things
04:46like that so i think on the next
04:47iteration i'd love to see some of that
04:48incorporated here as well
04:50but more that hard tpu on the sides you
04:53can see that wrapping all the way around
04:54the boot here the buckles themselves
04:57four buckles i like that i've got four
04:59here and then we've got the metal inlets
05:01here and then the buckles themselves are
05:02plastic these are replaceable and i will
05:05say if you're looking to you know maybe
05:07you want to step it up in the overall
05:08protection or just the the level of boot
05:12would be a step up from these they're
05:13about 530 though so you're going to pay
05:16a bit more but they have a bit more
05:17replaceable parts incorporated so that
05:20is something to keep in mind though as
05:23into the more premium options within cds
05:25line you're going to get more
05:26replaceable parts and things of that
05:27nature so just something to keep in mind
05:29there very easy to adjust very easy to
05:31open and close and you know we all know
05:34how that the adjustments go i'm sure but
05:36you just push these in kind of bend it
05:37back push it in and you can make those
05:39adjustments very very simple design but
05:41effective a little velcro tab there
05:43towards the top as we work our way in
05:45the inside and that is just a gator
05:47right here this is not waterproof that's
05:49not going to prevent water from rushing
05:50in here it will help prevent a little
05:52bit of water and mainly debris from
05:54getting inside the boot there but
05:56i've seen a lot of people think that
05:58it's waterproof up to this level for
05:59some reason and that's certainly not the
06:01case so working our way to the interior
06:033d mesh interior very straightforward
06:06just helps circulate some airflow for
06:07you keep you nice and comfortable on the
06:09inside of the boot there
06:10otherwise the buckles themselves as i
06:13mentioned metal inlets and then the
06:16plastic buckles now one thing i wanted
06:18to mention about the sole this is a
06:20thermal welded stitch sole all the way
06:23around here this sole is replaceable i
06:25really like that you can replace the
06:26sole because that's one of the first
06:27things to wear out if you think about
06:29dirt bike foot pegs they're very
06:32aggressive and they're designed to give
06:33you the maximum grip that you can have
06:35so this tends to get beat up quite a bit
06:38so this is replaceable and i'm sure the
06:40sole will wear out long before you know
06:42the rest of the boot so that it's nice
06:43to have that option to get the the sole
06:45replaced if you need to do so when it
06:47comes to the stiffness scale looking
06:49about a 9 out of 10 that's pretty much
06:51par for the course when it comes to you
06:53know mx style boots or any boots that
06:55you're going to be wearing
06:56in more technical terrain out there on
06:58the trails that's what you want you want
07:00that sturdy structure to help protect
07:02you appropriately so again 9 out of 10
07:05definitely not something you want to hop
07:06off of the bike and hike around in all
07:08day long that is for sure but i really
07:10like these particular boots i genuinely
07:13do i've had a lot of issues wearing cd
07:14boots in the past just because of that
07:16plate in my ankle and i think we've got
07:18a little bit more room around the ankle
07:19a little bit more comfort incorporated
07:21here they're very lightweight and i
07:22think they're a bit more low profile
07:24than some of the other options that
07:26we've seen in the past from cd so
07:28cd kudos to you guys and i like the
07:30price point it's not you know a billion
07:32dollars it's still and you know still up
07:35there when it comes to the price but
07:36considering the the level of quality
07:38that cd brings to the table i'm
07:40certainly not too mad about it i think a
07:41lot of riders are gonna be happy about
07:43particular pair of boots but maybe not
07:45in this papa smurf blue but to each
