00:01my absolute favorite way huge pedals
00:04ever made they're awesome they're
00:05spectacular and I can tell you really
00:08need something to do because you look
00:09bored let's roll the intro
00:22the very first of my favorite way huge
00:25pedals ever made ever is an overdrive
00:29not just any overdrive it's my favorite
00:32way huge over time and that's a big
00:33statement because way huge has a lot of
00:36great circuits I think George is a
00:38master of dirt sounds so it is the
00:40overrated special it's not just an
00:43overdrive it's an overrated overdrive
00:45that is special and look at the font
00:48look at the knobs it has a certain
00:50striking resemblance to a very
00:53prestigious amp maker I'm not gonna say
00:57who it is but it might be a company that
00:59rhymes with bumble crapola fication I
01:02don't know and there's a little small
01:04version so you have like a small version
01:06a big version I have both because
01:07sometimes I sit around you know nobody's
01:11home and I do stuff like this
01:12small petal big puddle clips of small
01:15petal small photo big petal Eclipse you
01:18can't do that with every petal but you
01:20can do it with these small versions and
01:21you just need to know it's based around
01:24the green rhino it's a modified version
01:27this is like a tube screamer that's
01:29already modified so we're like double
01:30modified which is extra overrated and
01:33special and it has a 500 Hertz knob
01:35which I like because I use the concent R
01:39as a high gain Drive and it has this
01:41hockey mid-range thing I love with
01:43single coils and I can achieve that
01:45similar sound but have some flavor of
01:48the old original tube screamer yeah
01:50let's check it out oh and every riff
01:53today the aqua puss analog delay the
01:56most famous way huge of all time I just
01:58have one setting I'm not gonna touch it
02:00the entire time but not gonna allow
02:02myself to even look at it just going to
02:04leave it on and play it on every riff
02:06with the same setting because you don't
02:08need to mess with delay pedals you can
02:10leave them on sometimes I know that
02:12nobody's told you that mystery
02:44next up on the list at number two is the
02:48blue hippo analogue chorus mark 2 there
02:51is a mark 1 but this is more accessible
02:53it is awesome and fantastic it is an
02:56analogue chorus vibrato now my favorite
03:00sound on this is the switch up in the
03:02vibrato mode that removes all the clean
03:05signal and then when you go down into
03:07the chorus mode you're adding in clean
03:09that's the basic difference between
03:10vibrato and chorus and this is awesome
03:12because like I've said many times on the
03:15show I'm a huge fan of leaving vibrato
03:18pedals on all the time and never turning
03:21them off but just barely having it move
03:23like as a 3d effect I use unified that
03:26way in a lot of other chorus pedals so
03:28this is one of my favorites probably top
03:305 of any vibrato pedal in the room that
03:34I like for that sound so I'm gonna demo
03:36that go down to chorus get crazy with it
03:38I don't know get jiggy with it that's
03:39even a thing I've heard from the kids
03:41and just see what you think oh and I
03:44forgot to say this is not based on a
03:48boss ce-2 people I see people saying
03:50this all the time it's not based on it
03:52it's not a situ it's not
04:48next up at number three is the way huge
04:52effect pedal this thing is really
04:56you know actually Nick I'm not supposed
04:58to talk about this this is the one that
05:00I got from that super famous guitar
05:03player when we were in California I mean
05:06super famous like this is the thing
05:09where George he like lets people see
05:12secret stuff do these Kate I'm not
05:14supposed to show this can you cut this
05:17okay I forgot about it it's fine he's
05:21just so famous okay okay like it's not
05:25like a lot of famous next up is possibly
05:29the other most famous way huge petal
05:32ever it's a big deal it is the red llama
05:36this is the 25th anniversary overdrive
05:38it's the kind of version to reissue of
05:41this now it's super classic like when a
05:45guy like Tom Petty this is all he ever
05:47used I mean it's good so you know it's
05:50good now there is the old original
05:53versions of these and it costs like a
05:55bajillion dollars and then this one
05:57costs like normal money so you have
05:59bajillion dollars with two knobs normal
06:02money with three knobs and smaller
06:05enclosure so smaller cheaper more
06:09options better gazillion dollars cool
06:13more useful I just thought I'd break
06:16that down for you and the name red llama
06:20what does it mean there's a lot of
06:21mysteries in life I just want to read
06:24something from the credits of of a movie
06:28that you might know Monty Python
06:30it's a Monty Python movie what's the
06:31movie called this is what it's the holy
06:35grail movie is it the holy grail movie I
06:37think it is let's read this according to
06:41the credits the movie is directed by 40
06:44specially trained Ecuadorian mountain
06:47Lamas six venezuelan red Lamas 142
06:52Mexican whooping llamas 14 North Chilean
06:561 ACOs I don't know how to say that I'm
06:59do and other llamas there's this lots of
07:02llamas involved in that movie so let's
07:38number five is a fuzz a very magical
07:42fuzz that I like a lot it's the javelina
07:44germanium fuzz this is George trips take
07:47on the color sound three Knob tone
07:50bender germanium now what's cool about
07:53this is George is really great with
07:56fuzzies of course and the use of
07:58germanium transistors and he did a great
08:01job capturing just the classic color
08:04sound thing from the 70s it's a great
08:06pedal and the names fun it's the name of
08:08a pixie song and then there's a band
08:11from California that named their band
08:13after the name of the pixie song and
08:16it's also I think the name of a pig like
08:19a type of pig and you know it's a big
08:22tone it's like a it's a big burly
08:25piggish tone and I really like
08:54next up is without a doubt and
08:57definitely by my humble opinion the most
09:00underrated and underappreciated way huge
09:03petal ever made super sad I'm thinking
09:06about it right now I'm spiraling into a
09:09world of depression thinking about how
09:13nobody gave this pedal any love and I'm
09:15stalling because I want you to try to
09:18it's an amazing pedal it was on my board
09:21for probably a year to two years I don't
09:23have no recollection of time at this
09:25point it is the ringworm ring modulator
09:29it's a ring modulator called the ring
09:31worm greatest name ever thought of for
09:35any product ever made on earth ever it's
09:38awesome has a lot of controls
09:40I used it really subtle at the front of
09:43my board before fuzz's and drives for
09:46lead lines and it would add this really
09:48cool texture and like 3d element to the
09:52plane just making things pop out of the
09:54mix and a live setting I'm just gonna
09:56set it up Nick's gonna mess with all the
09:58controls and try to do some crazy stuff
10:00and I'm gonna try to self adjust and
10:02embarrass myself on the guitar it's a
10:04great pedal it runs at 18 volts if you
10:08try it at 9 it doesn't work just a pro
10:10tip there I've been there done that
10:13the ring worm ring modulator
11:02this next pedal I'm actually texting
11:04George the question we're gonna wait on
11:13well somebody's too busy to help he
11:18okay okay so I text George trips and I
11:21was like what's the deal with the name
11:24of this pedals is our last of my
11:26favorite way huge the purple platypus
11:28and I get it now there's a connection
11:32you might have seen this all along the
11:36green Rhino the blue hippo the red llama
11:38purple platypus collared animals I'm
11:43the purple platypus is an octa drive so
11:46this is a really cool concept and very
11:49original in the peddle world now you've
11:51heard me talk on and on about octave
11:54fuzz pedals I played them all the time
11:55I'm a big fan I have them in my line I
11:58even did an episode called octave fuzz
12:00101 now octave fuzz's and this have
12:03something in common it's not a clean
12:05octave it's not like a micro pog or some
12:08TC electronics DSP octave thing has the
12:11low and the high all it means is it's
12:13taking the signal of the guitar slightly
12:16over driven and doubling over the
12:19waveform and creating an octave up and
12:22it's real dirty and gnarly it tracks
12:24weird and it's beautiful
12:26so instead of a fuzz he can bind that
12:29sound with his old red llama it's
12:32awesome it's really unique and out of
12:34the box so if you're looking for a way
12:36to overdrive and distort your signal in
12:39a in just a way that you're not used to
12:41or that many people haven't seen check
13:18one last thing that's really cool and
13:21nerdy is that Gorge of way huge when he
13:24was making these back in the day he was
13:26the first person ever to use a triple
13:29pole double throw foot switch the
13:32mechanical foot switch that all petal
13:35builders like myself have used currently
13:38use or have at least used in the past
13:40it's a big deal it's the true bypass
13:42foot switch no no just worth talking
13:45about because it's cool moving on the
13:48record time today's record time is
