00:12I think many of you guys might have paid
00:13attention to this a lot earlier like two
00:15or three years ago but I can finally
00:18confirm this right now I think that
00:20loudness Wars are over the loudness war
00:23is done everybody understands now that
00:25to have your music played at the
00:27festival and not lose energy compared to
00:30other Pro songs you need to make your
00:32mixing reasonably loud so what is the
00:34new meta what is the new thing that
00:36everybody is going for like what what
00:39what is it now and the answer is
00:42actually really simple it's stereo
00:45everybody tries to make better cooler
00:48wider stereo and make sure that it's
00:51done not at an expense of your mono
00:54compatibility so there are a lot of
00:57tricks that I'm learning right now from
00:59a lot of different people and some of
01:01them I'm inventing myself a lot of those
01:03tricks are going to take your music to a
01:05whole new level and in this video I just
01:08want to show you a few of those so that
01:10you understand how you can significantly
01:12improve the space and the stereo the
01:16width of your track I'm going to start
01:18this video off by thanking vladislav
01:20saena who is an absolutely amazing
01:23composer he makes hybrid trailer music a
01:26lot of his music is being placed in
01:27Hollywood trailers he is a big and very
01:30talented musician and uh if it was not
01:33for him and if he did not show me this
01:35technique this video would have never
01:36happened in the first place so he also
01:39gives one-on-one mentoring sessions to
01:40those of you who would want to learn
01:42more about creating orchestral trailer
01:44music I'm going to leave his context in
01:46the description and now let's get back
01:48into the subject of this video we're
01:49going to use the thing that I've shown
01:51in the last video where we're going to
01:53cut a lot of lowend from our Kick Drum
01:55so I'm going to take this kick drum for
01:57example and quickly make a 74 drumond
02:01base bead for liquid drum base and then
02:04we're going to make sure that our drums
02:06are super wide in Stereo so right now
02:08I'm going to cut off everything in the
02:12and leave some of that resonance around
02:1588 90 htz something like that um let's
02:20make it a little bit quieter I don't
02:21want it to be super loud now choosing
02:24some random snare or like in this case
02:26it's a clap even though I still call it
02:28snare that's a everybody every Dron and
02:31base producer is deformation so that's a
02:32normal thing and now we're going to add
02:35like a simple layer of main Shuffle
02:39drums let me make the clap a little bit
02:44well so sometimes we as as I've shown in
02:48my previous video what I go for is I
02:50create tremendous amounts of layers to
02:52make the drums more rich harmonically
02:54but there's actually another way if you
02:56want to keep your drums really
02:58minimalistic and just use a few elements
03:01here and there then I'm going to show
03:03you what you can do to make um a sound
03:07very rich and in your face so for
03:10example let's go for a classic
03:13break I think this is one of the best
03:16breaks let's go for this classic break
03:20here you can hear how it sounds right
03:22now but what I'm about to show you is
03:23going to make it so much more wide and
03:26this is actually what we're going to do
03:28is very similar to a h effect but there
03:31is a little difference so I want you to
03:32pay attention to this I'm going to put
03:34this on a separate mixer track and I'm
03:36going to make sure that we do not have
03:37any unimportant lowend information so
03:42let's put it like this because we
03:44already have a kick and a clap that are
03:46going to dominate in the mix we don't
03:47want that so I'm going to make a unique
03:49copy of this one and another unique copy
03:52because we want to have comparisons
03:54right so what I'm going to do right now
03:56is I'm going to slightly pre- delay
03:58sorry actually slightly delay delay the
04:04loop when you hear it like that I guess
04:08it's a little bit too much so we're
04:09going to move it a little bit
04:11closer not as audible anymore and now I
04:14think it's time to show you the secret
04:16sauce so the secret sauce would be here
04:18is something that you know very similar
04:21to what we do with guitars and
04:22everything we can Pan um one of the
04:27ear and now the other one to the the
04:32ear and next thing you do um there might
04:35be a little bit of collision of those
04:37drums because it's the same sound so if
04:39you want to make sure that it sounds
04:40full rich and beautiful you want to
04:43shift the pitch of one of those brakes
04:46just a little bit let's go 200 cents
04:49down there you go so now I want you to
04:52compare what it sounded in the beginning
04:54versus what it sounds like
05:00this is crazy guys this is really crazy
05:02this is not it by the way I'm going to
05:03show you a few more things that you can
05:05do on top of this so right now we're
05:07going to put these brakes together um
05:10we're going to keep the pre- delay here
05:12uh make sure that it is cut
05:15correctly and make it a little bit
05:17quieter obviously because now we have
05:18two layers of drums uh on this Loop so
05:21it's kind of loud we can limit a little
05:24bit of it so that the uh snare doesn't
05:30from everything so now let's play
05:34this like if you were to Simply put a
05:37normal break it would sound way more
05:42mono and now using the same break you
05:46have full drums this is absolutely
05:49insane and you don't really have to use
05:52all those layers um really that is a
05:56amazing an amazing Revelation and I'm
05:59really excited to see what you guys can
06:01do with this method but I'm going to
06:03give you a few extra tips on top of this
06:06what can be done to further make uh the
06:09sound even wider even more bright so one
06:12of the most amazing plugins that I've
06:14recently discovered thanks to one of my
06:16clients I don't remember your name one
06:17of you guys um you've shown me a devious
06:21machines plugin called textures and I
06:23instantly got it because it's amazing
06:25this plugin it it gives you the option
06:27to add extra noises but they a will be
06:30gated to the waveform of your sound so
06:33that means that if we add some white
06:34noise to the uh percussion layer it's
06:37going to be gated in the same way so I'm
06:40going to show you right now so um let me
06:44open up the texture here and let me show
06:47you an example of what I'm talking
06:52100% of devious machines textures this
06:55is a default preset it's a digital White
06:57Noise if you want to keep white noise if
06:58you want to add a a little bit of that
07:00beautiful white noise in your song you
07:02want to go and open up this filter right
07:08this to have it highp pass you can also
07:13color and the amount the like the
07:17Decay and now let's put it in the
07:25mix can you see how much of a difference
07:27that makes and now let's one more time
07:29compare everything let's play This
07:32Together absolutely beautiful that
07:35sounds absolutely amazing like if you
07:38play the initial drum Loop oh it's okay
07:42now it's affected by the texture but
07:45let's just say um we're going to copy um
07:51just the EQ so that it would
07:54sound yes exactly this is how it was
07:57sounding in the beginning now let's
08:03this this is crazy guys and I think that
08:06everybody should do this because
08:07nowadays everybody loves a lot of stereo
08:09uh the headphones are getting better the
08:11people are getting more sophisticated
08:13the old school Dron based fans are
08:15evolving the new guys are coming around
08:18and they want new things it's like it's
08:20a never-ending process you just have to
08:22find some new cool thing and I think
08:25that the stereo war is on right now and
08:27using those uh little things will help
08:30you to get better so this is one of
08:32those things that you can do um I could
08:35actually keep showing you more and more
08:36but it's really hot in here and I got a
