00:00this is my 2023 rivan r1t dual motor it
00:05does 0 to 60 in 3.5 seconds we got it
00:08with the sport dark wheels on street
00:11tires I wanted to go with a more
00:13streetable Tire because that gives me
00:14the 341 miles of range that this thing
00:17has and so far it's been a great vehicle
00:20but not everything has been perfect and
00:22today I'm going to share with you what I
00:24like and what I don't like after about 6
00:26months of ownership with this thing I'm
00:28going to take it for a drive and I'm
00:29going to to tell you if I think it's
00:31been worth it so far now let's start
00:33with the things that have gone wrong
00:35first thing is in the rear of the
00:38vehicle now you can see that I have two
00:40car seats back here and as far as having
00:43a family of four the car has been fairly
00:46solid and surprisingly like if I were to
00:49be honest I should have gotten a rivan
00:50r1s but I wanted to lease something and
00:53not be locked into it because this truck
00:55right here is $90,500
01:00to do a lease simply because I'm making
01:02YouTube videos on it it's a little
01:03different for me I don't really think a
01:04lease is a smart thing to do some people
01:06do it because you can write it off
01:07easily but that's why I went and did it
01:10because of making the YouTube videos and
01:12getting a return on my videos now the
01:14first thing that's wrong here is the
01:17rear headrest for some reason does not
01:20latch into place I've played with it and
01:22tried to get each side to lock in it
01:25just it doesn't seat all the way down
01:28and then it doesn't lock into place so I
01:31don't know what's wrong with that that's
01:32something I need to go to rivan service
01:34for this one works fine this one does
01:37not now the other thing here is the
01:40subwoofer or sound system in this part
01:42of the door has a crazy rattle to it
01:44every once in a while it goes on and off
01:47and again that is something that I need
01:49to have rivan look at now the
01:52interesting thing is in my car when I
01:55purchased it they left in this little
01:58checklist here from August 30th of 2023
02:01and we're going to go through this with
02:02you right now here okay so we got
02:05tailgate passed flush pass leftand side
02:10pass but then we have a gap over here in
02:12the leftand side pass fail looks like
02:15maybe it failed and then they went in
02:16for extra credit got bonus points and
02:18then they passed so so over on the left
02:20side of the vehicle I have not noticed
02:22any defects and really one thing that
02:24I've appreciate and I'm impressed with
02:26with rivan is their build quality the
02:29paint quality seems to be very good
02:30there's some weird deficiencies in it
02:33like there's peaks in certain areas like
02:35across this top line here when they were
02:37putting paint protection film on it I
02:39got film put on it from Dynamic Tint in
02:42Tempe Arizona now some of you were like
02:44why did you put paint protection film on
02:46a least vehicle Tyler gave me a good
02:48deal on getting the ppf done and the off
02:51chance that I actually purchased this
02:53from rivan I want it to be protected
02:55that way the paint is taken care of plus
02:57if I take it Offroad or something like
02:58that the whole front of the vehicle is
03:00protected so that's why I did it hood
03:02and Fender pass with flying colors here
03:05and then the do's right hand side gear
03:07tunnel Fender Gap wide and then it says
03:11door nice handwriting here door's left
03:13hand whoever wrote that at the factory a
03:15gear bin hinge in wrong spot needs
03:18adjustment and that's another thing that
03:21is wrong with the vehicle or just not
03:24well engineered I'd say are these hinges
03:27so when you pop this open okay okay
03:30there's just like this little piece here
03:32that's sliding in and out on the inside
03:37down and then click it into place it's
03:40still like partially opened so yes this
03:43is clamped but it's just kind of a bad
03:45design now this is a first aid kit and
03:48the compressor cable which is on the
03:50other side the really nice thing about
03:52that is you can reach all four tires
03:55from the rear of the vehicle and you can
03:58set your Ps I so that's all right here
04:01and you can adjust the PSI on the tires
04:04I think the tires need to be set at 48
04:06so I trusted that one day plugged the
04:09compressor into the tires and let it run
04:11and I assumed that it was cutting off
04:13like any compressor would once you once
04:15it hits the pressure that you set it to
04:17it didn't do that and it took it to 59
04:19PSI which I think was close to popping
04:21the front left tire so that's something
04:23now that I don't have confidence in now
04:25it is useful if you get a flat or need
04:27to fill up a beach ball or something
04:28like that it's nice that they include
04:30this in the vehicle here sorry that's
04:33the first aid kit you can see this side
04:35fits nice and flush here like it sits
04:38flush as it should once it's
04:42closed nice job right but the other side
04:44just doesn't sit very well again Minor
04:47Detail that's not ruining my experience
04:49with the car just little things here and
04:51there that are wrong so it is really
04:52nice here that they include this really
04:55robust cable here for the compressor 150
04:59psi Max so that's that's pretty
05:00impressive and then also you have a flat
05:03tire repair kit that all comes with the
05:05vehicle and again these being Adventure
05:07Vehicles off-road vehicles it's smart of
05:09them to do that I just for me I don't
05:11trust this simply because of that one
05:13experience that I had with it I think
05:15it's a great feature I'll still use it
05:16when I need to fill it up I'll just
05:17monitor it myself now as far as the bed
05:20of the truck people were like oh it's
05:22not a truck because it doesn't have this
05:23long to bed those people are so annoying
05:25the Maverick's a truck this is a truck
05:27Chevy x10's a truck and an 18-wheelers a
05:30truck so the the truck Gatekeepers need
05:32to relax I think this is a really cool
05:34vehicle and I'm not someone who ever
05:36wanted to own a truck and that's what I
05:39think rivan has done extremely well is
05:42they've produced a package in a brand
05:44that brings people in that would have
05:46never thought of owning a big SUV or a
05:48truck because of the off-road
05:50capabilities because of the performance
05:52for Me 3 and 1 half seconds to 60 and
05:54the air suspension that's in this thing
05:56which I'm going to demo for you in a
05:57second here all of those features are
05:59what I love love about the vehicle I'll
06:00show you when I drive it but let's look
06:02at the air suspension right now before
06:04we get to the air suspension another
06:05thing that comes with the vehicle is
06:06this tie down cable now I didn't know
06:08what this did cuz I've never owned a
06:10truck but basically you stick it in
06:12here and then it locks into
06:15place and so if you're driving somewhere
06:18and this is apparently an uncuttable
06:20cable or a cable that's at least harder
06:22to cut these lock into place and you
06:25could hook it through something that you
06:26have in the bed of your truck for a
06:28little bit of security I just thought
06:29that that was well placed within the
06:31vehicle there and just a nice accessory
06:35rivan now as someone who loves to play
06:37golf every once in a while I can't do it
06:39as much anymore cuz I have a family I
06:41can't abandon them but when I do play
06:43Golf the gear tunnel is amazing I can
06:46put two sets of clubs in there I can
06:48have my set going this way the passenger
06:50set going this way they cross in the
06:52middle and fit perfectly this gives me
06:54more usability in a truck I don't want
06:56my club sitting in the back here baking
06:58in the Sun they deserve to be laying in
07:01this nice cool space here you can see
07:03I've still not taken the plastic off of
07:04there so that's a little embarrassing
07:06but I'm not going to lie to you so two
07:08sets of clubs fit in here this is such a
07:10cool use of space I put groceries in
07:12here as opposed to filling up the cabin
07:14or laying them in the bed this gives you
07:16more functionality while still having a
07:18bed to store bigger things in I've been
07:21moving tires around lately it's nice to
07:23just throw those in the bed and not have
07:24to worry about placing them on the
07:26interior of a car and that's where a
07:27truck has come in handy all right so now
07:29on to the interior here interior has
07:32held up really well again this has
07:33heated and cooled seats the cooled seats
07:35are incredible basically what the cold
07:37seat does is it reduces you just having
07:39sweat on you you're not going to be
07:40freezing cold but just reduces the sweat
07:43so you don't look like a pig going into
07:44your business meeting or whatever you do
07:46now the air suspension here's what I
07:48really like so the car has a feature
07:50called Neal when you put the truck in
07:51park it will lower itself to a
07:53comfortable height so everyone can
07:54easily get out now there's a bunch of
07:56different suspension settings which are
07:58really cool so we will go in to its
08:00standard ride height so you can see the
08:02air suspension raising right now and one
08:05thing I've learned is as you're raising
08:07the air suspension keep your foot off of
08:10the brake otherwise the suspension binds
08:12can also go into high
08:15mode now in high mode here you will see
08:18that it says ride height lowers at 45
08:21mph but actually the ride height lowers
08:24at 48 mph that's one thing I've noticed
08:27when driving around and actually waiting
08:29for it to go back into normal mode now
08:32if we go into off-road mode it has
08:35highest mode so it can even go up higher
08:37I think the ground clearance on this is
08:39right around uh 17 in and there's no
08:42pumpkin on the back of it sticking down
08:44so it's a real 17 in or whatever it is
08:46I'll have it at the bottom of the screen
08:48here but the clearance is insane on this
08:52thing so the suspension for me really
08:55enhances how the vehicle drives and we
08:58also need to talk about software updates
09:01so with the suspension it came with a
09:03soft and a firm setting when I first
09:05purchased the vehicle and I always
09:07thought to myself it'd be nice to have
09:09moderate or medium something right in
09:11the middle so with one of their software
09:13updates they were able to add a moderate
09:15setting so now I have three different
09:17stiffnesses that I can set the
09:19suspension to in addition to these four
09:22or five different ride height settings
09:24when you put it in sport mode the car
09:26drops down and you can put it in hard or
09:28soft there's no moderate when you have
09:30it in sport mode but look at the
09:32clearance that we have back here the
09:34difference between this and between
09:37going into uh sport mode and really
09:39letting the car handle well you can
09:41adjust the traction control settings
09:44it's really impressive and I haven't
09:45taken it on a Canyon road yet I haven't
09:47taken it off-road either I'm going to do
09:49both of those but it's just really
09:50impressive to me how the suspension can
09:53really enhance your driving experience
09:55of the vehicle that's what I play with
09:57the most and enjoy the most I even did a
09:58blind test with Andrew driving the car
10:01and I was able to get all three Drive
10:03modes with my eyes closed and having him
10:05adjust them so there are differences
10:07between all of them and in sport mode
10:08the car is too stiff like it's really
10:10jittery it's really built for a track
10:12you can actually slide it around so I've
10:14really enjoyed that now the other thing
10:15is efficiency electric vehicles are far
10:18more efficient than driving gas or
10:20diesel powered vehicles and that's why I
10:22don't feel as bad driving this around
10:25town now on the other hand these start
10:27at like $73,000 this this one's $90,000
10:30so if you got an F-150 for 36 Grand it's
10:34going to take you what like 40 years to
10:36get up to the price of this so I like
10:38the fact that I don't have to spend
10:40anything on gas and electricity is very
10:42cheap charging at home but overall it's
10:44a very efficient vehicle 341 mes of
10:47range and if I were to fill this up at
10:49home and my flashlight on like a boomer
10:52in my pocket if I were to fill this up
10:54at home I think this is 129 K battery
11:00$186 for a full tank of electricity so
11:04it's very cheap to run and maintain cu
11:07the only maintenance is rotating the
11:08tires every 7,500 miles the other thing
11:11I need to talk about on this is the quad
11:13motor rivan have a have four Motors okay
11:17so this is dual motor so as you're
11:19driving once you're at a steady throttle
11:22position you'll hear the rear drive unit
11:24disconnect and then you're in
11:25front-wheel drive in the quad Motors you
11:27can put it into conserve mode meaning it
11:29stays in front-wheel drive mode so that
11:32way the rivan people always say it's
11:34going to chew the tires up but it's
11:35really nice it has that feature built in
11:37for efficiency you can hear it
11:39disconnect and decouple now the one
11:41complaint I do have about the suspension
11:43and the the overall truck is it's it's
11:46little loud in the cabin and the
11:48suspension you can kind of hear it
11:50clicking when I drove the Cyber truck in
11:52the past the Cyber truck is like a Land
11:54Rover it's really solid it's quiet and
11:56has a better feel than this this should
11:58feel just just as good as the Cyber Tru
12:00and it doesn't but I think they will
12:01enhance that over time overall for a
12:04first vehicle that they've launched
12:05they've done an incredible job so now
12:07let's continue this conversation I'm
12:08going to take it for a drive now a few
12:10features here on the interior of the r1t
12:13that I want to talk about that have made
12:15the car easier to use the first thing
12:18that is the most annoying thing possible
12:21and I hope that they fix this is the
12:23proximity sensor with the key so the
12:26reason that this is annoying is when I
12:27park it in my house I have it set to
12:31lock only and lock and unlock the
12:34problem with lock and unlock is I can be
12:36in my living room and I'm just sitting
12:39there watching TV and if I get up and go
12:41to the kitchen the car you'll hear it
12:43lock unlock lock unlock it'll do it all
12:45night with my Tesla when I get near the
12:48car and press the door handle it
12:49releases and unlocks it's not like it's
12:51waking up constantly this is a huge
12:54issue with this car it's extremely
12:55annoying and they need to fix it so I
12:57currently have it set to lock only and
12:59then the other thing is I'll be walking
13:01out to the car with my daughter holding
13:03my daughter in one hand car seat in the
13:05other hand and I sit the car seat down
13:08to unlock the rivan and I can't until I
13:10pull my phone app out and manually go in
13:13and unlock the vehicle so it's just like
13:16that's been a huge problem I think they
13:18can fix that with a sofware update but
13:20really that's been the most negative
13:22part about owning this vehicle now the
13:24other thing that I found that's actually
13:26better to use is the navigation menu on
13:28this this side of the screen so you can
13:30see we have the navigation there if I
13:32hold this button right here it will
13:34change that screen and show efficiency
13:36if I hold it again it will show me my
13:38tire pressure so I found it to be most
13:41useful just letting this sit on the map
13:43and the reason for that is when I go to
13:45the map over here and I'm typing in a
13:48destination the navigation like the the
13:51image of where to turn and everything is
13:53just slightly off so if you're like me
13:55like sometimes I don't exactly hear what
13:57it says and I look down to the screen
13:59and it looks like it's overshooting an
14:00intersection or the turn I just find
14:02this screen to be more accurate so I
14:04would recommend if you're on a road trip
14:06to be referencing this it also lets you
14:08keep your eyes more on the road when
14:10using the native navigation I find the
14:12navigation in here to be okay it's not
14:15anything groundbreaking I will be doing
14:16a road trip with it later in the year to
14:19really see how it is but it sometimes
14:21misses there's a lot of construction
14:22around Phoenix it sometimes misses what
14:24roads are closed off where I know Apple
14:26Maps or the Tesla navigation would have
14:29known so they've only had a couple
14:30issues with that but other than that
14:32it's been pretty solid so the interior
14:34in this is the Black Mountain with the
14:36dark ash wood that you can see here so
14:38it's actually been a nice interior with
14:41the suede or Alcantara roof liner this
14:43is a prototype sun shade that I'm
14:44testing from vion so I don't know when
14:47their final one but will be out but
14:48obviously I will let you know when that
14:50happens the cup holders here pretty
14:52solid but you can see they get a little
14:53bit dirty and then it's actually kind of
14:56nice that you can just make them
14:57disappear when you're not using using
14:59them and again we have the camp speaker
15:01down here it actually sounds like they
15:03are turning this into an option on the
15:06refresh r1s and r1t as an upgrade which
15:09I think is great if you can cut costs on
15:11things like the camp speaker and various
15:13other features on the car which are nice
15:15but I I'm probably never going to use
15:18that so it's I'd rather pay less and not
15:20have that and just have more storage
15:22down there so I think that's good that
15:23they're updating that now another thing
15:25we can talk about is space in the back
15:28so I'm in my normal driving position
15:30here so we will get out and just take a
15:32look at the rear of the vehicle so I
15:34actually switch out my sunglasses here
15:37so the rear of the vehicle has been
15:40pretty good for car seats so this is the
15:42smaller toddler car seat and then this
15:44seat protector here is from 3D mats I'll
15:46have that Linked In the description has
15:48this little storage compartment down
15:50here so that's what I've been using for
15:51that so on the driver's side with this
15:53car seat it's been fine the problem is
15:56for the toddler car seats the bigger
15:57ones and these are rear facing is that
16:00this seat is sent all the way up now my
16:02wife and I are both 6 ft tall so we're a
16:05little smushed in the passenger seat
16:08even though this still is a you know a
16:10fairly large vehicle you're still
16:11smooshed it's better than the model y
16:14you have a little bit more space in the
16:15m y but if you're taller just know that
16:18you're going to have potentially a
16:19little bit of an issue now on to the
16:21adventure hole to me the adventure hole
16:24has been probably the most useful part
16:27of the truck simply because I'm putting
16:29my golf clubs in here and I don't have
16:31to sit them up in the bed to me that's
16:32just been excellent as someone that
16:34really doesn't need a truck I can still
16:36use the car and get functionality out of
16:37it this is probably one of the best
16:39designed things that rivan did so enough
16:41of that let's take it for a drive and
16:42talk about how it drives another nice
16:44feature here we have some charge Point
16:47chargers right here they also have these
16:49at the zoo so when we do family trips to
16:51the zoo not only do I get shaded parking
16:55we get a little free charge free of
16:57charge from charge point which is really
17:00nice so the zoo the Phoenix Zoo has
17:02solar panels and then these EV Chargers
17:04you're able to plug in get a little
17:05extra juice it's kind I mean it's why
17:08not you know why not give shade and have
17:10solar panels and hopefully they had they
17:13have a battery system they can actually
17:14you know put that energy right into the
17:16cars but uh I just think uh features
17:19like that are really cool with electric
17:22vehicles on top of that we have modes
17:25like sport mode so I just put it into
17:27sport mode the air suspension is
17:29lowering while in this mode I now have
17:32the ability to put it into soft or hard
17:35for ride feel sorry firm INF firm it is
17:39I mean this is like a Go-Kart with no
17:41suspension on it it is the stiffest car
17:44I think that I have ever driven it's
17:47insane and it locks the car into
17:49four-wheel drive permanently so your
17:52range is actually decreased but it
17:54reflects that on the heads up display so
18:04Jus I mean it's insane 3 and a half
18:06seconds to 60 but when I put it back
18:09into normal mode or allpurpose mode I
18:12can get 341 miles of range out of this
18:16with an air suspension that's adaptable
18:18the off-road capabilities my biggest
18:21complaint about the rivan is just the
18:23fact that the nvh on the vehicle is not
18:27great the the feel through the steering
18:29wheel it's just like every little bump
18:31disappointing part and this is something
18:33I did not expect when owning this
18:34vehicle is the the nvh like the bumps
18:38that come up through this thing you
18:39would think you're driving like a Honda
18:40Civic the way the that it feels the
18:43steer the steering we'll call it the
18:45steer shaft it's just it doesn't feel
18:48great whereas on the truck that you
18:51would expect that with was maybe the
18:53Cyber truck you maybe wouldn't think the
18:54ride quality be great the Cyber Tru
18:56feels like a Land Rover or Range Rover
18:59it's excellent how that feels when I did
19:01my reviews on that so I think these are
19:04all things that are going to be
19:05addressed when they do the r1t and r1s
19:08refresh I'm almost uh certain I really
19:11enjoy the air suspension and then you
19:13can also adjust your stability on or off
19:16and then your regen braking regen
19:18braking I've kept it on high I think the
19:20car rides and performs a lot better and
19:22stop and go traffic when you have it on
19:24high the standard setting to me wasn't
19:27as aggressive enough I don't like to use
19:29the brakes I like to use the single
19:31pedal driving so I like to keep it in
19:33high mode so overall it's been good the
19:36software updates have been great it's
19:37been very usable as a family vehicle in
19:40the rear someone brought up this point
19:42that I didn't think of is in the in the
19:44bed you're able to just throw strollers
19:46in without worrying about you going to
19:48Mark something up on the interior the
19:50one downside is the interior is smaller
19:52so if you just if you had kids that
19:54weren't in car seats you wouldn't have
19:55an issue at all there's plenty of space
19:57but if you do have car seats it kind of
20:00makes it a little tighter than I'd like
20:02it but you have the adventure hole and
20:04then you have the entire bed that you're
20:06able to use I don't have the tono cover
20:09on this that was another $1,800 or
20:12something like that and the car is
20:1590,50 so the fact that it doesn't come
20:17with that when the Cyber truck does at a
20:20less cost I feel like it should but
20:22again if that's an option that I can
20:24have and make the car cost less than
20:26great I think the new r1t cost $69,000
20:32$73,000 like it was before so yeah I've
20:35I've really enjoyed owning this so far
20:37and I will have future videos talking
20:39about if I'm making a return on it with
20:41the YouTube videos I really like the
20:43nickel like colored trim around the dash
20:46and Edge and around the steering wheel
20:48here that's all been nice the sound
20:50system is solid I think my model y has a
20:52better sound system surprisingly there's
20:54some vibrations in things the steering
20:56column see how shifts
20:59like this something's loose here that
21:01lets it like fall down so that needs to
21:03be fixed one of the rear headrests on
21:05the passenger side will not lock down in
21:08place it just slides in and out so that
21:10needs to be fixed and there was one
21:12other minor thing that I was going to
21:14have them look at so I need to schedule
21:16a service appointment and I will let you
21:17guys know how of that goes but yeah the
21:20my favorite part of the vehicle is the
21:21air suspension I love kind of playing
21:23with exactly how I want it to be also I
21:26kind of get the lifted truck thing now
21:28because anytime I see a truck in a
21:31parking lot your boy throwing it in high
21:33mode that's what I'm doing like we just
21:35went over that bridge bouncing in it
21:37feels so good the air suspension but I
21:39love when someone rolls up in a big GMC
21:43go and we raise up and we look eye to
21:46eye and make love another feature that
21:48has been really useful with the air
21:50conditioning system so you when you
21:52click right here brings up this screen
21:54you can see this little paw print here
21:56when you click that it puts it into pet
21:58comfort and then you click there to turn
22:00it on now the other thing you may have
22:02noticed is it says Monday at 4:55 p.m.
22:06it is scheduled to be cooled down to 70°
22:10so this is really useful because you can
22:12see right there you can schedule it and
22:14then you can add more right here now
22:16this is something that's great if you
22:18consistently do something on a weekly
22:20basis for example my wife takes my
22:22daughter to a music class so this car is
22:25cooled down and ready to go by the time
22:27they get back in now in many other parts
22:29of the country whatever it's 85° outside
22:32it's 100 plus every day for 4 months
22:35here in Phoenix so that's extremely
22:37important especially with young kids and
22:39the fact that you have that programmed
22:40in there and on top of that it's easy to
22:43use and happens in the background I've
22:44really used that feature a ton now a lot
22:47of you have probably seen my video I did
22:49with Armando I'll have his channel
22:50Linked In the description when he drove
22:53my rivan he said this I do notice these
22:55seats feel a little hard now at the time
22:57I was like hey you know that's your
22:59opinion and I started to think about it
23:00like how are the seats now these are
23:02heated and cooled seats the cooled seats
23:04are great because essentially they're
23:07sucking your back in your in this uh
23:09lower grundle area and just keeping you
23:11cool you just don't have that back sweat
23:13when you get out of the vehicle if
23:15you're going to a business meeting you
23:16got that blue dress shirt on that every
23:19guy in uh Corporate America has you just
23:21don't get out of the car looking like a
23:22pig you look tight still and the seats
23:24so arm thought they were very stiff I
23:27agree that the seats in the model X are
23:30more comfortable and in the Cyber truck
23:33I agree that they're more comfortable
23:34they're softer but these aren't a
23:36problem for me they're firmer but
23:38certainly not a deal breaker and again
23:40that's something that will be personal
23:41to you so I recommend if you're looking
23:43to buy one of these go sit in it test
23:45drive it see how it is but I think the
23:46seats are are made very nicely they have
23:49good design they're heated cooled so for
23:51me no complaints with the seats but if
23:53you're close to buying one of these
23:54vehicles you've probably looked at the
23:56lease deals and if you want want to
23:58learn about what it costs to lease one
