00:02sampler from the ones i have which one
00:05would it be we're going to talk about
00:07that in this video i've been using quite
00:09a few samplers for the past two years i
00:12moved in a lot of stuff in the studio so
00:15i was just looking at all this gear and
00:17thinking really do i need all this so
00:20i'm just looking at my samplers and
00:22thinking like which one of these would i
00:24actually pick if i had to choose only
00:26and you know i have to say like the
00:28reason why i have all this in the studio
00:30is definitely because of youtube youtube
00:33kind of progressed and this is how the
00:35studio progressed as well because i was
00:38always this guy that only had one
00:40sampler and a pair of headphones or some
00:42speakers and i would just live like that
00:46and i never felt the need to get new
00:48samplers but having a youtube channel
00:50obviously you want to communicate with
00:54any way possible obviously that's
00:57one of the reasons why i get new
00:58samplers so i can talk about them let
01:00you know what i think about these new
01:04yeah owning a youtube channel definitely
01:08made this happen for me so i have to be
01:10chopping a lot of samples because of
01:11what i do i have to quickly do things
01:15that i wouldn't be able to do on my
01:16mpc60 so there are a lot of reasons and
01:20one of the reasons i find
01:22to choose the correct sampler for
01:24yourself or for me in this case is
01:28the the time that we are in living in
01:31life so at this moment i'm living in
01:34youtube channel creating this content
01:38my choice for a sampler okay if i didn't
01:41have this youtube channel probably the
01:43sample that i would pick would be a
01:45different one most likely
01:47and i'll get in in the reasons why i
01:49mess i'm also going to talk about some
01:51samples that i didn't have why i still
01:53don't have because i'm going to get the
01:55404 mk2 that looks like an amazing
01:58little sampler so it's definitely a
02:00question of the point in time that i'm
02:02in okay if i'm at the beginning of my
02:05career i'll probably
02:07if i had to choose something right now i
02:08probably would go with the computer i
02:10think the computer is probably the best
02:12place to start when you're making music
02:15most of us already have a computer at
02:17home so all you need to do is just
02:18download some software and start making
02:21beats so you know to everyone
02:24starting i would say just get into some
02:26software first try it out see if you
02:29like making music and if you do like
02:30making music then you can move on to
02:32samplers into external gear obviously i
02:36love making music with all these
02:38equipments lying around
02:42at the kind of like at the end
02:44if youtube didn't exist and i'm like 50
02:4760 years old and i'm just in the studio
02:50the the npc that i would pick would most
02:52likely be the mpc60. i just got it like
02:58and i just i really love that thing it
03:00has it has uh it's it's a monophonic
03:04uh it has very limited amount of time
03:07and i like that limitation about it as
03:09well you know it's different from my mpc
03:14it's not just because it is mono but
03:16also because it does have a a punch that
03:21the the mpc live and the x it's a bit
03:26sometimes these things are only
03:27noticeable for people that actually work
03:29with audio work with making beats
03:32most people out there wouldn't really
03:34recognize that difference
03:36uh but i think you can feel it so yep
03:39this is the 6d has something in it that
03:42i really love and if i was in a point in
03:45time where i'm just chilling i really
03:48don't care i think probably
03:50the mpc60 would be that thing would be
03:52that machine to have so i can just be in
03:55the corner of my house just with my
03:59sampling stuff and making beats without
04:01caring much about anything else
04:04yeah that but that will probably happen
04:06in a few years like if i get tired or if
04:08something happens to the internet or if
04:10something happens to the channel
04:12that's probably what i'm going to do i'm
04:15chill with my mpc60 that i really love
04:18and just make beats with that without
04:20thinking about anything else
04:23actually i'm in a point in time
04:26where having like an
04:29mpcx or an npc live is really important
04:33to me because i have to do all this work
04:35work that i couldn't really do if it was
04:37on the mpc60 or in the excel or on the
04:40404 the zoom right there or the 202.
04:44obviously these are samples that are
04:45very limited for me chopping samples is
04:48super important i chop a lot of stuff
04:51all most of my music is done with
04:53samples so i spent a lot of time just
04:54chopping a lot of stuff so i can build
04:57up a library of sounds
04:59so you know owning one of these new
05:01samplers npc one npc live or the x is
05:05mega important for me obviously you can
05:07do that in the software as well anything
05:10they can shop samples really quickly
05:13that's what i really need at this point
05:15in time so but yeah yeah you have a lot
05:17of samples that you can really chop
05:19samples really quickly even though to me
05:22the npc is the the the fastest and with
05:28more options sampler in the market right
05:31now to chop samples it really is i don't
05:33think any other sampler can beat what
05:35the npc does when it gets to chopping
05:40that's that's one of the reasons why i
05:42really really love it i'm still with the
05:44npc obviously there the sequencing and
05:46all of that is kind of like
05:48embedded in my brain and my thought
05:50process when making me music but the
05:53reason really is because chopping
05:55samples on the mpc is such a breeze it
05:59is super super easy to chop samples so
06:02at this point in time i would most
06:04likely own an npc just because of that
06:07but let me talk about other samples as
06:09well and tell you why i wouldn't
06:11actually choose other samplers you know
06:13last year i was using the akai force i
06:15love that sampler a lot i think it's
06:17such a powerful sampler but a lot of
06:20things in the force really i didn't
06:21click with and one of the things is just
06:23the user interface in itself like the
06:25transport key the way you play and stop
06:28the the sequences the the scenes or
06:32it just it feels like it's a bit clunky
06:35it doesn't really work that well i mean
06:37i just didn't click with it on that
06:38level it has tons of potential
06:41it has things in it that the npc just
06:43could just you know dream of having
06:48just the way you play between clips you
06:51you have such a powerful sequencer
06:53inside that's one of the things i think
06:55the sequencer inside the force is much
06:57better than this one to be honest but
06:59then when it gets to the user interface
07:01i think it it really misses on basic
07:06easy to use like the npc is like you
07:09just quickly record into a sequence once
07:11you get the hang of it like once you get
07:13really fast in the workflow you can you
07:16can easily work with it but to me i just
07:18didn't really click with it and that's
07:20why i kind of sold it
07:22and traded for i think it was the
07:25analog heat and now the analog heat i
07:27use it all the time so i always try to
07:30do that if i'm not using something i
07:31just might as well you know change it
07:34for something else and i'm going to
07:35compare this really quickly you know
07:37samplers from electron like the digi
07:42the rhythm as well that i used so i kind
07:44of know the workflow the rhythm i never
07:46used the digits act but i suppose it's
07:47kind of like the same thing
07:51to me the the analog rhythm is the best
07:54sampler when it gets to user interface
07:57everything is right there you have a
07:58button for everything if you're working
08:00with samples everything is really just
08:03at a click like the filter is right
08:05there the sequencer has buttons that you
08:07can press on and choose the step they
08:09want to input like everything i love
08:12that machine when it gets to user
08:16is the best sampler out there it's
08:19something that the npc is very close to
08:21when it gets to making music but that
08:24sequencer that the capability of the
08:26sequencer on the rhythm is just magical
08:30the only thing about the rhythm that i
08:31don't like is when it comes to polyphony
08:35i just really i mean samplers that have
08:37like eight polyphony or four polyphony
08:41to me i just i can't really deal with
08:43that and i know you can there's ways to
08:45get around it when you're working with
08:47electron uh gear that you can just you
08:50can change steps and you can change
08:52samples like with parameter logs and
08:54stuff like that you can input more
08:55samples into the sequence
08:57but it's just not the way that i like to
08:59work so that was one of the big issues
09:02with that i had with the with the
09:04electron products once they come out
09:07with a sampler that has at least 16
09:10voices that you can work with
09:12then it will be something i would
09:13definitely love to try maybe keep in the
09:16studio to work with so that to me was
09:18the biggest issue just polyphony there
09:20were other things other small things
09:23like mute groups and stuff like that but
09:25really the 16 voices is the reason why i
09:32um so yeah still the mpc is the one so
09:36mpc's kind of went in because of
09:38polyphony in this case and because of
09:40the chopping functions as well something
09:42that in the electron
09:44you know just is still way way behind
09:46but yeah it is what it is and
09:49i really need a sample that i can really
09:51chop fast and easy we get to the uh to
09:54the 2000 excel i mean 2000 xl mpc60 i'll
09:58probably go with the 6d there's really
10:00not much that i can say about the excel
10:02i really like that machine
10:04probably the only thing that i dislike
10:06about the excel is that
10:08when i sample like stuff that has a low
10:12end low frequencies it kind of shaves it
10:14off i i notice that on my kicks when i
10:17simply kick into the excel some of that
10:19low end disappears it's just how the
10:22excel is it's just one of its trades
10:26yeah and that's why i really prefer the
10:30a lot more punch to it i really love it
10:32i mean there are other samples that i
10:34haven't tried like the maschine the uh
10:37mc707 from rowan i i
10:40just by looking at the mc707
10:43it looks like the layout of the 1200 the
10:46sp 1200 with the faders with the pads
10:50kind of similar not the exact same thing
10:52but it looks that could be worked that
10:54way i love the faders but i've never
10:57really worked with it but it looks an
10:58interesting sample or something i'd need
11:00to try in the future as well and see how
11:04again i really need something that i can
11:06chop my samples on and if i have to
11:08choose only one sampler
11:10so far the mpc is the sample to go now
11:14i'll let you know which one of the npcs
11:15i want to choose but uh so far between
11:18all the brands and stuff the npc wins
11:21because of the chopping uh function
11:23machina i think it's probably one of the
11:25samples that i could really really pick
11:29the the the mpc you know i never used
11:32the maschine i know it's a sample that
11:34if i would to get it i probably would
11:36stay with it because
11:38i think it just resembles the npc a lot
11:40and i think probably has
11:43an amazing workflow and i would
11:45definitely be hooked on it
11:47i think that's probably the reason why i
11:48don't get into it because
11:50between the npc and the maschine i think
11:55down to the same thing you know they'll
11:59in the in the workflow you know so i
12:01really see the point of going into the
12:03maschine the s 2400 now for milo
12:07everyone talks really good about that
12:09instrument everyone says that it has an
12:11amazing sound i would love to try it
12:14just because of the sound but then again
12:15we get into the uh we get into the
12:18polyphony i think it's only eight
12:21man i just i can't really deal with that
12:23to be honest it's one of the things that
12:26if a sampler only has a certain amount
12:28of polyphony kind of just puts me off
12:31yeah i think they focused a lot on the
12:33ins and outs and making it sound really
12:35powerful like the sp 1200 so
12:39in that regard i think it's probably the
12:41best sampler in the market when it comes
12:46it probably should be much better than
12:48the mpc i don't know how the chopping is
12:50but the chopping it doesn't seem like
12:52that good to be you know you can easily
12:55chop in it like any other sample you can
12:57easily chop in it you can't really
12:59compare it to the mpc you know so
13:02yes still the mpc is my first choice now
13:06we get to this last sampler which is the
13:09sp404 mark ii i think the mark ii
13:13really is an amazing little sampler
13:18most likely keep the 404 the polyphony
13:21has increased and i now think it's 16 i
13:24don't know how much it is actually so
13:26but it's it's a lot more than it was
13:29uh you have a better sequencer you can
13:31chop you have mute groups you have all
13:33this stuff that you can find inside the
13:34npc so i haven't worked with it to be
13:37honest i need to work with it to to see
13:43you know i i have to come down to
13:45choosing the npc and when it gets to
13:47choose the npc i'll say that i'll choose
13:53the portability is just um it's just
13:56something that i i can't really
13:58give up on now i just see myself taking
14:01this on the road everywhere i go i can
14:04work somewhere else like because i do a
14:05lot of chopping a lot of work a lot of
14:07beats can be done anywhere else i can
14:09just take this hook up my headphones
14:11which i love working with headphones the
14:18the most powerful sampler out there in
14:20my opinion okay it has all those ins and
14:24it has the q links where it's so easy to
14:28uh it has the transport controls that i
14:32it has you know it has all the
14:36that it makes it to me makes it the most
14:38powerful sampler out there
14:41if i was to choose between the mpcx and
14:44the npc live most most definitely the
14:47live that portability is just something
14:50that it's it's crazy i really love it
14:53and that's why i really torn between the
14:56live in the sp 404 if i was to choose
14:59just one sampler because i love
15:02portability i never had it in the past
15:06when it came out like portability i'm
15:08always in studio i don't need
15:10portability but now that i have it now
15:12that i have that option of actually
15:14taking this with me somewhere to work
15:16with it definitely changed the way i
15:18work i can just you know
15:20grab it and go somewhere and do my
15:22chopping somewhere i can be like in the
15:24park just chopping all my samples
15:27if i had to choose just one standpoint i
15:29would choose this over my mpc60 because
15:32of the point in time that we are
15:34in like 10 years 20 years i'll probably
15:37just be chilling with my mpc 60 but now
15:40because i have a lot of work to do and
15:42i'm always chopping samples
15:44this is the this is the uh the sample
