00:00so it's finally time to produce that
00:01song you've been thinking about for
00:02weeks but where do I start what if the
00:04song flops it probably sounded better in
00:06my head anyways I'll just wait for the
00:08better time to produce this idea but
00:19overthinking everyone when starting out
00:21music production wants to strive to be
00:23able to just come up with ideas
00:25magically and always have this
00:27inspiration and motivation to Just
00:28Produce songs on a whim anytime any day
00:31but unfortunately you'll probably very
00:32soon find out that that's just not the
00:35reality we want to be able to just
00:37produce whenever we have this motivation
00:39and inspiration but that comes and goes
00:41like the wind there's no guarantee
00:43you're going to be inspired and
00:44motivated one day to create music
00:47sometimes it'll come and great take
00:48advantage of that but we can't rely on
00:50them we can't just wait for it cuz
00:52you'll soon find out that if you only
00:53produce when inspired and motivated
00:55you're really not going to produce much
00:58you're going to have very slim amount of
00:59ideas and especially from the early
01:01stage you're going to realize that even
01:03then your ideas probably aren't that
01:05good anyways so by doing this you're
01:07really limiting yourself to the amount
01:09of growth you could have by just
01:11constantly producing more even when you
01:13don't have that inspiration even when
01:14you're creating absolutely awful ideas
01:17now what can we do about this what can
01:19we do about the fact that we can't
01:20always rely on this inspiration to come
01:23up with ideas well I believe the best
01:25way to come up with ideas is with
01:27consistency let me explain I think
01:29there's three different ways you can be
01:31consistent in making music that'll make
01:33you spark ideas without relying on that
01:35motivation or inspiration to pop up
01:37magically out of nowhere so I'm going to
01:39categorize in three different ways that
01:40you might have not heard of before so
01:41firstly you need to be consistent in
01:43curiosity so consistently learning
01:46consistently doing new things
01:47experimenting with things youve probably
01:48never tried before you can learn from
01:50all the best tips and trick videos out
01:51there to get all that information but
01:53the best way to actually improve from
01:55that is by actually applying it and
01:57doing your own spin on things
01:58experimenting with stuff that maybe
02:00you've never tried before pressing knobs
02:02that you might have never thought were
02:03useful doing things against the books
02:05maybe even breaking some rules and
02:07seeing how it sounds trying to find what
02:09works and what doesn't and consistently
02:11doing so with every song not being
02:13afraid to be different and do something
02:15completely wild secondly and this one's
02:17pretty obvious but consistently
02:19producing of course you're not going to
02:21get good at any skill if you're not
02:23consistently sharpening your skills
02:24there and putting the effort and the
02:26work and actually doing that thing even
02:28when you don't really feel like doing it
02:30cuz let's be real we don't really always
02:31want to produce we want to produce when
02:33we have that flash of inspiration the
02:35ideas there or sometimes we'll sit down
02:37and produce and we won't make anything
02:39for a while and then we'll give up but
02:41it's important to get your mind trained
02:42for the habit of sitting at your desk
02:44consistently maybe around the same time
02:46with the intention to produce something
02:48whenever I do a consistent let's say
02:507-Day challenge video on producing a
02:52song every day I have that intention
02:54okay today I'm going to make a song for
02:56this video whether it's a perfect idea
02:58or not I just have the intention and
02:59okay I'm going to go do it it's changing
03:01the mindset from okay let's see if I
03:03come up with something and if I don't
03:05boohoo to okay I'm going to make
03:07something today let's see what I create
03:09so we're detaching from the end result
03:10we're detaching from trying to have this
03:12perfectionist mindset and we're moving
03:13to just sitting down and get something
03:15done and finishing whatever we have
03:17making a full idea out of whatever we
03:20first get thirdly and probably most
03:23importantly perseverance now it sounds a
03:25little maybe cheesy or corny right now
03:28but let me explain because when you sit
03:30down and produce consistently like I
03:32said you're going to reach the points
03:33where you can't come up with any ideas
03:35where nothing seems to fit everything
03:36sounds horrible where you kind of get
03:38that brain fog and you just really don't
03:40want to produce right now and sometimes
03:41our first response is all right let me
03:44go on YouTube let me scroll on my phone
03:46let me watch something maybe stimulating
03:48something to kind of distract me from
03:49that but what you want to do is go
03:51through that work during this time of
03:54brain fog of possibly like literal pain
03:56like where it actually sucks to be
03:58sitting here and producing you feel like
03:59you can't even like listen to what
04:01you're making properly but keep going
04:03doing random things until you do
04:06eventually try to make something out of
04:08whatever you can come up with cuz you
04:09have to realize that the goal isn't to
04:11just make your best song ever your goal
04:13is just to make something we're in the
04:15beginning stages of producing we're not
04:16going to make our best song now and I
04:18really hope you don't if like let's say
04:20you've been producing for a couple years
04:21only you're going to have better ideas
04:23you're going to make a better song than
04:24you just did even if you think maybe you
04:26pee back then you had better ideas back
04:29then maybe maybe look at the other
04:30aspects of your life where are you
04:32lacking in everything else because how
04:34you do one thing is how you do
04:35everything so let's say if I'm not doing
04:36well in production instead of thinking I
04:37used to be better back then I'm just
04:39worse now that sucks think more where am
04:42I lacking in life maybe there's
04:43somewhere that's seeping into music
04:45production as a habit as a discipline of
04:47something to do maybe that sounds a bit
04:49far-fetched but trust me if you apply
04:51this you realize this truth I I think it
04:53can really Skyrock at your creativity
04:55and music and to be honest any part of
04:57your life now I'm not just saying this I
04:59had this experience many times already
05:02I'm not the most experienced producer
05:03I'll put that up front but I have this
05:05song here I had this idea in my head
05:07that I've kind of been going around for
05:09a while now it's a really simple idea
05:11just about three notes and I got it
05:13after listening to One of Skrillex's
05:15song H I forgot what it's called in the
05:17buildup of this song for some reason in
05:19my head I heard a different Melody and I
05:21thought that would have been hype and I
05:23just had that idea in my head but I
05:24never implemented on it I kept
05:26overthinking I kept saying I'm going to
05:29put it off until I get that feeling that
05:31inspiration until one day I was like
05:34sitting at my da F studio and I just
05:36wanted to make something and I thought
05:38of that in my head I was like What if I
05:39just try to put this down and a couple
05:41hours later I came up with nothing yeah
05:44it's still not easy but that's not a
05:47problem because what happened later was
05:48I had this project with very rough ideas
05:52nothing that I thought I could really
05:53work off of I thought the idea maybe
05:56sounded better in my head than it really
05:58would but then I came back to it a
05:59couple days later and that's when the
06:01idea started to flow because I stayed
06:03persistent and I stayed consistent doing
06:05it even though I thought there was no
06:07ideas there all right so here's the
06:09project and it's quite the big project
06:11here I'm just going to go step by step
06:12looking through each of the little Parts
06:14not getting to too much detail I just
06:16want to go over the main things that I
06:18think you can learn from right so here's
06:20a quick playthrough before we get into
06:57okay let's start with the main idea a
07:00where it came from and man let me tell
07:01you when it sounds stupid that this was
07:03my main idea that was in my head for
07:05like weeks that's crazy but essentially
07:07it was just these three notes
07:14here just kind of the rising tension of
07:17that I didn't even initially have the
07:18idea of having it more rhythmic with
07:20hitting every beat but it changes a
07:22little bit over time that was the simple
07:24idea and it went where it went let me
07:26tell you that but basically the mindset
07:28here is just adding more energy right
07:30this is supposed to be very high energy
07:32song building tension so you want a lot
07:34of these like high frequencies things
07:36rising in tension right so that's kind
07:38of the whole thing here right I'm adding
07:39more sounds like this
07:44patch very simple but it rise rise rise
07:47that's kind of like the mindset there
07:49right that's the main thing this is more
07:52to add space add some cool tones in the
07:54background but here's where the idea
07:56started to evolve now I have this very
07:58interesting sound I made
08:01here it sounds rough on its own it
08:04sounds decent in the mix and you know
08:05I'm going to still tweak it trying to
08:07make it sound a little cleaner but
08:08essentially where I came up with this
08:10how I got this this came from this how I
08:13did that completely free plugins is I
08:16used the free plug-in delay I'll try to
08:19have it linked in the description if I
08:20don't then you can yell at me in the
08:21comments this is a really good delay
08:23plugin and it has this mode chaos mode
08:25and reverse chaos mode so these are just
08:27they kind of play with you know octave
08:29reversing and it it just sounds really
08:32chaotic this is not going to be the
08:33exact same settings I don't remember the
08:34exact settings I had but let's just put
08:39normal and then take out the
08:42dry you can already hear
08:45it but you hear that that little sound
08:48there almost I mean you can hear it the
08:50the similar like it turned into like
08:52almost this weird a very different
08:54sounding sound I don't know why it did
08:55that but it did I I took it and I
08:58started chopping it up and I turned it
09:01here almost like a very distorted
09:04electric guitar or something but it's
09:06super interesting how that came out and
09:08this became the driving force for the
09:10song so I this is still here right this
09:13main idea but then that took it to the
09:15next level in my opinion that's what
09:17brought it to life gave the song a
09:19different identity so it's not as basic
09:21right and it's important to have some
09:22sort of identity in your song something
09:24that makes it stand out in a way this
09:26does that the most for this song even
09:28though it's not the craziest idea that's
09:30what does it for the most part this
09:32section you know just changes to just
09:37kicks one last thing here's a trick to
09:40be different just take the the reasoning
09:43behind this you don't need to do this
09:44trick all the time but here's the
10:09tell me you've heard of fake out like
10:10that okay it's kind of like the reverse
10:13of what a normal buildup SL fake out is
10:15normally when you make a buildup or fake
10:18out you take out something so that when
10:20the drop hits it has bigger impact and
10:23we do that here in a bit but normally we
10:24take out the lows we want the sub to
10:26come and hit hard what I did here
10:28instead was made the the sub actually
10:30distort the entire track I brought the
10:32stereo width to the center um I lowered
10:35the master volume as well during this
10:36buildup here so it gets quieter subbase
10:39gets distorted so it's like very it's so
10:42much tension build up and the stereo
10:44width is getting small here I my hand
10:46mov are going crazy right now so even
10:48though we're at like more frequencies
10:50technically are being there the drop
10:51still has impact because it comes in
10:54stere withd it's louder and it's just
10:55clean I guess right and you know you can
10:58think it sounds trash but just the idea
11:00of doing something kind of against the
11:02books breaking the rules a little bit
11:04you know doing something different is
11:05just fun to do that I can go into more
11:07details like my mindset and things doing
11:09that but that's going to be end of of

11:13you to stop overthinking to just start
11:15making something cuz maybe you'll make
11:16something cooler than you expected or
11:19different or Flop but it's all part of
