00:58idea was just to do
01:01kind of make my perfect place like if I
01:03want to go to a bar hang out like what
01:05would it look like it took a bit of
01:08inspiration from a bar in Japan that um
01:10because they don't really have religion
01:12as such there so they I think they find
01:14um things like Christianity and stuff
01:16like that quite interesting in a kind of
01:19more Curious way so they had a place
01:21that was just full of like religious
01:25stuff and I remember going and just
01:27thinking this place is awesome um so I
01:30did steal the idea a little bit I yeah
01:33the Art's obviously really cool um I've
01:35always had a lot of connections with
01:37religion in in our art and um yeah it's
01:41also like kind of easy to find on cheap
01:43so I mean yeah I mean where did you get
01:45all this from is it I kind of see you
01:47good driving around car boot sales um
01:50done a couple oh yeah yeah did one like
01:53I remember we were playing a show in
01:54like maybe it were France or Germany and
01:56there were huge Market outside with just
01:58stuff like this I going crazy um the car
02:01boot near my house go to every so often
02:03but they're not what they used to be
02:04yeah car boots they're rubbish it's just
02:07like a market now you do events here
02:09people can do some gaming yeah we do all
02:12sorts I mean it's turned into like it's
02:15out of my control now like sometimes
02:16look at Instagram and they're doing like
02:19uh the people they drawing dogs and have
02:21a dog up on stage and they're all doing
02:23like life art at dog destroying how' you
02:24keep a dog still I don't
02:26know um we have films we have gigs yeah
02:30we have all sorts um so it's cool I
02:32think it's like a really cool place for
02:34people especially
02:37like not normals do you know what I mean
02:39like we have I think it's like a really
02:40cool safe space for people and every
02:43time people come here they always seem
02:44to be like I want to stay here forever
02:46can I have an office do you know what I
02:47mean it's like I think it's a really
02:49good energy our staff and everyone at
02:51work here are just like awesome so well
02:53they just gave us the tour they got our
02:54own gym recording studio I was going to
02:56ask if I could like buy a membership off
02:58you but yeah no

03:02not here to um sell the church although
03:03it is amazing and you should come um
03:06we're here because uh dropped an ALB
03:08haven't you mhm um about time yeah I
03:12know CU I remember we um we had a zoom
03:15in 2020
03:18um might have been around the time
03:20Parasite Eve I think was coming out and
03:23it was quite spooky because Parasite Eve
03:25was about this uh pandemic sending
03:28everyone underground scorching in the
03:30earth starting again all came to be um
03:33and then you said you might not make an
03:34album again and you had to plan to do
03:37four EPS in a year MH but then I guess
03:39you know things the world wouldn't let
03:42yeah yeah I mean
03:44um yeah I think a multitude of reasons
03:47um I think we thought we were going to
03:51be in lockdown a l longer than we were
03:54um I mean we were in it a long time but
03:57it got to a point where for this is not
03:58going away anytime soon so we thought we
04:00could bang out a few EPS in that time
04:03yeah we also thought these EPS were
04:05going to be a little more humble and a
04:09bit of fun like the idea when we started
04:12remotely writing is like this is going
04:13to be a lot more difficult than writing
04:14in real life so let's not it sounds bad
04:18like not saying let's not experiment or
04:20push ourselves sonically but let's let's
04:22do a good solid bring rizing record
04:24let's take everything that we've done
04:25over the past few years and and and put
04:28it together and and kind of take the
04:30path of least resistance in that respect
04:32like now is not the time for us to be
04:34like writing a you know experimental
04:37Jazz album do you know I mean it's it's
04:38because it's going to be too difficult
04:40so I think what happened is a we
04:44realized a couple of weeks in or months
04:46in it's not that difficult actually and
04:48we did all ourselves allow ourselves to
04:50experiment more than we originally
04:51thought which I think was a
04:54perfect combination of briefs for for
04:57bring morizon because I think we're
04:58always in danger of of going too far
05:02making it too difficult going what how
05:03can we make this different everything's
05:05got to be different everything's got to
05:06be can't be the same as last time so
05:07everything even if it's not even if it's
05:09not as good it's got to be different
05:11yeah you know what I mean so I think
05:13that original brief of like do a solid
05:16brim rizon record with the Elation of
05:19like oh this is actually more easy was
05:21perfect for us because it made us push
05:23ourselves sonically and go
05:25places like that we haven't gone before
05:28and and and be a bit more open and fun
05:31with it but also we stuck to the brief
05:33of like let's do a solid bring rizon
05:34album and I think for our fans that was
05:37is the perfect you know I think if you
05:40ask the majority of our fans if you
05:41compare that to our ammo a lot of people
05:43like they gone too far do you know what
05:45I mean whereas like that record is like
05:48the perfect mix of everything we've done
05:50in our career yeah and I think so even
05:53though we're an EP it might as well be
05:56an album well this is it because I don't
05:59know I think ammo is kind of in my mind
06:01ammo is kind of like your Okay computer
06:02it's like bring me on you know turned up
06:05to 11 in every aspect and then this kind
06:07of felt a bit kind like kid in the sense
06:09of like scrapping it down starting again
06:11but yeah I was going to ask if you felt
06:13weird
06:13about thinking of uh survival horror as
06:17an EP now it's awesome and it's such a
06:18it's such a full-bodied thing I think
06:20fans think of it as an album now don't
06:22they well in every sense of word it is
06:24because we play seven songs off that
06:28record live we don't play seven songs
06:30off any other record you know even ammo
06:34or that's the spirit ofno like you know
06:37obviously pass the point of like when we
06:40just had sen paternal and the other
06:41records we might have played that many
06:42songs but ever since that's a spirit we
06:45you know having to you know we play
06:47three or four maybe not seven yeah
06:49everyone wants to see all these songs so
06:52in a lot of ways it's even more than an
06:54album because for all intensive purposes
06:57there were more singles there were more
06:58songs we need to play everything and it
07:02it with the realization it's like well
07:03even if we release a new record right
07:05now how we going to get all the how are
07:06we going to get more songs into the set
07:07when every wants to see oey everyone
07:09wants to see King slay every wants to
07:10see Parasite Eve everyone wants to see
07:11Di di everyone want you know pretty much
07:15every song so it's
07:16like if we start chucking in a new
07:19record it's like what are we going to do
07:21like we and so that couple with the fact
07:24that like Tik Tok turned into this huge
07:26thing and we were very lucky in the fact
07:28that we got a little piece of that pie
07:30and showed our like can you for my heart
07:32blew up on there and suddenly all these
07:34new kids that we're a brand new ban to
07:36wanting to see us we come out of
07:37lockdown like I think we went maybe
07:40three or four million listeners on
07:42Spotify we came out of lockdown with
07:43eight do you know what I mean doubled do
07:44you know what I mean and that was like
07:46fell
07:47overnight
07:49and just you know beened Sheeran asking
07:51us to do just it it just things that we
07:55never imagined happening happened you
07:56know what I mean so it we're just like
07:59and
08:00that you know we're pushing for you now
08:02we've all got families people have got
08:04kids we can't go on to we can't go and
08:07do all these tours that they want us to
08:08do and then go back and get in studio as
08:10well do you know what I mean so writing
08:12had to be coupled with touring do you
08:13know what I mean suddenly touring was
08:15when we wrote as well and that's even
08:17though you do have a lot of time in day
08:19it's not as easy as when you get in a
08:22studio for two months and just focus on
08:24one thing so it just yeah it just became
08:27I know this is and we have to honor that
08:29as well like this has become a huge
08:31thing and that's awesome like there's no
08:33point in rushing the next album because
08:35we've got a record here that everyone
08:36wants to hear yeah know and it's not as
08:38if you kind of like reached lazy old man
08:40Rockstar stage you guys have been pretty
08:43bloody busy I mean you had the yeah yeah
08:46so you smash red in the leads download
08:48the Brits Ved shearing you basically set
08:50the nemy awards on fire with that
08:51amazing closing set like what two of
08:54three Arena tours maybe been around the
08:57world um so it's not as if you've been
08:59on your laurs it's must be hard to like
09:01it's been more hectic than ever you know
09:03I mean it's I feel like I haven't had a
09:05you know I had a holiday after put
09:07NextGen out and that was the first true
09:09time I've ever felt like I don't have to
09:13actually do some involved with my bands
09:14today yeah I mean that was the first
09:16time so it's been yeah definitely not
09:18sitting about doing that but that's like
09:21you never heard a b that's particularly
09:22good at that especially sitting around
09:23is what I mean cuz you had um it was
09:26really kicking off with ammo and then
09:29suddenly you got like you got the new
09:30fans and then maybe had Guardian readers
09:32being like Oh take this F seriously and
09:33stuff like that um so what was it like
09:36for someone like yourself with a
09:37constantly active mind whether you're
09:39forced to slam the brakes on when covid
09:41happens um what does that do to you I
09:44mean I think I've already been quite
09:45open about falling back into drugs and
09:48falling back into like bad habits with
09:52um in lockdown you know I
09:55think and it was what prompted me to
09:58write the record at least what the
10:00record's about is this idea of
10:03like Society works when it's moving yeah
10:06and when we don't stop and when we're
10:08buying and selling and just being
10:10involved and but as soon as a flu took
10:15to spanner in the works it it didn't
10:17work whatsoever and the reality is it
10:18didn't work actually it worked for the
10:20mass the masses or it feels like it
10:23works for the Masters but really there's
10:25no like wider support for for anyone
10:28apart from the the people are on the top
10:30and we're not in a society doesn't work
10:33that well and we're not in a good place
10:35we're just it just kind of you can't
10:37tell it's not working that well when
10:39it's all moving so fast that we don't
10:40stop to to to look at it and I think
10:44that was exactly how I felt soon as it
10:46all stopped I I I weren't in a good
10:49place I was just in a good place before
10:52because the band were doing well and
10:54because we were touring the world and
10:55because we're getting nominations for
10:57awards and now we're just feeding off
10:58all that stuff do you know what I mean
11:00and I didn't even realize that I never
11:02thought of myself as someone I don't put
11:04my Awards upon world I don't do what I
11:05don't I didn't think I felt too much off
11:08my own ego and and and the worth my
11:12worth I were getting it all I deriving
11:14it all from that you know what I mean
11:15yeah um so as soon as it all went
11:19straight back to drugs do you know what
11:20I mean so I wasn't healed at all I was
11:22just distracted and I think there was a
11:24duality between that and and the world
11:26you know what I mean so it were the
11:28start of realizing that oh I'm not I'm
11:31not as fixed as I thought I was when I
11:33got out of rehab you know yeah so what's
11:35the next step how did you pull yourself
11:38back um was it with work was it
11:41with it it was but it was with listening
11:44to myself yeah the first step was
11:47listening to myself
11:49um and kind of what Utopia is about is
11:53is the setting the scene of the whole
11:55record and the the goal of the record
11:57where we hopefully end up at the end of
11:58the record
12:00is is finding a perfect state of being
12:03or or a
12:04Content state of being a place where
12:07we're happy and I think
12:10the the
12:13main obstacle in most of our lives with
12:16that is basically what I say in the
12:18first few lines is uh I still wish that
12:22I was someone else on you know some days
12:25and it's the fact that I'm still
12:26rejecting myself I still I'm still not
12:28fully accepting who I am am and the
12:30thing is it doesn't matter who you are
12:31what you've been through in your life
12:34anything you have to accept who you are
12:36that's the first step of being happier
12:38like and I think we most of us are
12:40constantly rejecting who we are wanting
12:42to be someone else wanting to have
12:43something else wish shouldn't we had a
12:45different body we should we had a
12:46different face we shouldn't we had a
12:47different job or girlfriend boyfriend
12:49whatever and we can improve ourselves
12:53but we still have to accept ourselves
12:54you know what I mean and and the what I
12:57say like love is the law it's the idea
12:59of that we we start we start using love
13:03as a guiding principle for everything we
13:04do and when I say that I don't I mean we
13:07act on the basis of our true emotions
13:10and what we love doing rather than
13:12through jealousy through eny through
13:15anger through fear like rather than
13:18acting all those things what we do a lot
13:19of time a lot of things we get in our
13:20lives or wish we had is is not because
13:22we really want it yeah it's because
13:24someone else has it or something's kind
13:26of gaslighted us into thinking we want
13:28it or or all these things you deserve it
13:31as well yeah yeah and I think it's when
13:34you start using love and your true like
13:36what you want as your guiding thing it's
13:39like you start going actually I don't
13:41like these people I don't know why I'm
13:42going out every Friday night with them
13:44actually this don't make me happy to be
13:47on this application or now you know what
13:49I'm actually this is not me at all it's
13:52a really [Â __Â ] difficult thing to do
13:54because it's like the ultimate like fomo
13:57and disconnecting you're going to people
13:58fall with you people aren going to like
14:00the fact and but until you can start to
14:03learn how
14:04to tune out the external noise and just
14:07follow your heart you're always just
14:09going to be in the same patterns of you
14:12know of I guess you're always going to
14:14be in a [Â __Â ] Place basically yeah
14:17so that was my first thing and like I
14:20say I'm not quite there myself it's like
14:22but I know that is the guiding thing of
14:25like how to be happy is like we got
14:26start tuning out that external [Â __Â ] and
14:28listening to what we really want who we
14:30really want to be what really makes us
14:32happy the whole records a a battle
14:35between light and dark and the Darkness
14:36is almost like well it is on a narrative
14:39sense it's it's this mistress called
14:41Miser miseria that is always luring me
14:45or the the character back into that dark
14:47side like Kool-Aid for instance a lot of
14:49the choruses and is is spoken almost
14:52like from this toxic lover of like come
14:54here stuffer your fake give me a hug I
14:57I'll I'll love you like nobody else this
14:59you know Society is like just come back
15:01you don't need you know what I mean it's
15:02like all limousine where it's like again
15:04it's just like I'll swallow that bile
15:05for you I'll and every it's a it's a
15:08constant battle throughout the record of
15:09that because that side is so much more
15:13easier and Powerful just to go just to
15:15give in to that Force it's it's so much
15:17easier than going no I'm actually going
15:19to go on the long hard slow path to
15:23contentment that's so hard whereas the
15:26other side is so easer and it's so sexy
15:29dark and romantically like you know what
15:31I mean it's like I like to think of it
15:33like dirty Nostalgia when you think of
15:34like some like the nights used to go out
15:37of when you're younger or the drugs used
15:38to do it's like you know it were bad but
15:40there's this kind of romance yeah and
15:43dirty Nostalgia like I just want to and
15:46it's that's just so much easier yeah so
15:49it's that first step is to like go I
15:52know it's going to be hard I know it's
15:53not and it's not going to be and it's
15:54going to be like a lot longer a lot more
15:58of a SL but the first and I'm going to
16:01fail like and throughout the record
16:03there's like multiple times where it's I
16:06fail yeah because everyone who goes on
16:08that path is going to fail it's because
16:11you have to fail to
16:13realize what's wrong with you where you
16:15fall down what's what you need to do
16:17next and stuff so it's it's not easy
16:20yeah but it's it's it's kind of like the
16:22first song is is inviting everyone on
16:25that journey to go do you want to do
16:26this do you want to go there do you know
16:27what I mean yeah and then you need a
16:29song like na to go right [Â __Â ] up but
16:32it doesn't have to be this way forever
16:33it's a matter of facing you got to face
16:35up to yourself you can't just make an
16:36album would go you can't just say it's
16:38going to be okay you have to say it's
16:39going to be okay eventually yeah and
16:41yeah exactly I mean na is
16:45so I
16:46mean dark side is the first song the
16:50first I've fallen
16:52after statues and limousine which are
16:54like two sides of a coin limousine uh
16:56statues is the
16:59taking being an a being an agent of your
17:01own healing basically going I no one
17:04else is going to come and rescue me no
17:06one's going to save me like self my own
17:09love is more powerful than anyone else's
17:10love and and it's accepting that like
17:13you've got to take charge of your own
17:15healing no one's going to come in no
17:17person no thing no job no none of that's
17:21going to make you better it's you've got
17:23to do the work yourself and Limousines
17:25The Flip Side to that is like okay but
17:27what if you just did all the forget that
17:30just come and have just come and like a
17:32limousine for me represents I mean
17:34that's what a limousine is you step into
17:35a limousine it's a complete disconnect
17:37from reality yeah and it's a temporary
17:39disconnect from reality where it's
17:40nothing to do with reality and it's it's
17:43a hedonistic lifestyle it just
17:44represents all that stuff where it's
17:46like well forget about it get in the get
17:48come come in here forget all that [Â __Â ]
17:51but you know it can only last so long
17:52it's just a ride you know what I mean
17:54you have to step out of so it's the
17:56whole start of the record as as you
17:58Utopia and um koola two sides of a coin
18:02Utopia is utopic state of being like
18:06paradise I guess Utopia is the dream and
18:09Kool-Aid is the coma and dark side is
18:13the first time I fail you know it's the
18:15it's and which we all do so na is after
18:18I've asked for help and realized I need
18:20to go and get more help it's that
18:23feeling of like I
18:26think for anyone who's not gotten adct
18:29or or something theyve really struggle
18:30with in lifetime I would imagine you you
18:33would think that the hardest thing to do
18:36when you fall off the horses get back on
18:37the horse but actually it's it's quite
18:40easy to get back on the horse because
18:42you've got motivation you've got you you
18:44really want to get better but staying on
18:46the horse is the hardest part because
18:48once you get back on the horse it's such
18:50a rough ride yeah because once you get
18:52back on the horse and you're sober and
18:54you're clear again you go [Â __Â ] in hell
18:56I'm back to square one yeah everyone
18:58hates me I [Â __Â ] up I've let everyone
19:01down I'm so embarrassed I'm so and that
19:05is it's like a burning hot feeling of
19:08like awareness yeah and know all you
19:11want to do is go back to the drugs or go
19:13back to the thing that you were doing
19:14because it just takes it all way again
19:16and it's so easy whereas that it's like
19:18[Â __Â ] I'm right back at the start yeah
19:20it's the worst [Â __Â ] feeling ever and
19:23that's why NA is the way it is it's like
19:26I really [Â __Â ] wish I were dead right
19:28now hate myself so much and I'm just
19:30messed up all over again it's but it's
19:33also about I mean I I call that part of
19:36the record the rehab Trilogy because it
19:38goes na which is the group session lost
19:41which is the therapy one-on-one session
19:43and then strangers which is like kind of
19:44like takeaway of of the whole idea of
19:50sharing your pain with other people yeah
19:53and it's the realization that like even
19:54though I said earlier like about statues
19:57it's like you have to be in charge of
20:00your own healing you also have to accept
20:02that you can't do it on your own yeah
20:04and there's a massive like a huge part
20:07of of me getting better the first time
20:10round was going to
20:12rehab and being in a group of people I
20:15was surrounded by a guy who seen his
20:17mate blown up in Afghanistan a
20:19schizophrenic teacher person who needed
20:21disorder a girl that were Rap by her own
20:23dad like all this stuff
20:25and just to be surrounded by people all
20:28going through think I'm like [Â __Â ] this
20:29is a human condition this isn't just me
20:32I thought I was insane I didn't think I
20:34were ever going to get better and I'm
20:35listen to all these people saying all my
20:36thoughts even though they've been
20:37through things that are different worse
20:39you know what I mean they all and and
20:42obviously exchanges is that takeaway of
20:44like we're all just looking for security
20:45we're all just lost and we're all just
20:47wanting to be so it's it's the first
20:51part of of getting better is the fact
20:53that you're going to have to accept that
20:55you're going to have to talk about this
20:56no matter how bad what you've been
20:59through is if you don't get it out of
21:01your head it's it's never going to it's
21:03never going to go feelings have to be
21:05felt like they have to be processed they
21:07have to be Ted and it's so it's it's the
21:09first step of that it is the first step
21:12well it's the second step after
21:13realizing you've got a problem and and
21:16you want to address it you know yeah and
21:18did that process feel more profound in
21:21having to kind of finish the record
21:24without Jordan because obviously he
21:26joined around the time you'd come out of
21:27rehab and I like you said you threw
21:29yourself into music and all this stuff
21:30and that the you know basically cracking
21:33the Whip and keeping the wheels turning
21:35kind of replaced a lot of the stuff you
21:36were addicted to before and you got
21:37addicted to the work so was like
21:40removing that that partner you had mhm
21:44was that did that make finishing the
21:46record scene more the more challenging
21:47considering what you were wrestling with
21:48in the lyrics yeah 100%
21:52um obviously
21:54like Jordan was a massive part of this
21:58band and he was like my right-and man we
22:01were like a creative force and I know
22:02like a lot of time we were spoken about
22:04as a Duo do you know what I mean
22:08um I think where we started to break off
22:12is the fact that after um
22:16posthuman after survival
22:18horror I started to to like think about
22:21and address these things and address the
22:23way we were being because me and Jordan
22:26I think when I got out of reab I needed
22:28music or something to throw myself back
22:30into and it was music um and Jordan was
22:33in a really cool band that wasn't
22:36getting anywhere and he was surrounded
22:38by members that weren't really helping
22:41that either and he just wanted to write
22:42and he just wanted to create and I think
22:43both us came together when we needed
22:45each other and we just it's like we just
22:48didn't stop yeah we just got and we just
22:50never stopped and we slowly start
22:53unknowingly kind of pushing the band out
22:55and just it would just the all and
22:56Jordan show and it would just us too and
23:00because we could do everything fast and
23:01because we were always up for writing
23:03we're doing it without you know without
23:06asking anyone if other people can do
23:08it's okay we'll do it you know Lee can't
23:10make it today okay we'll do a guitar on
23:11syn you know what I mean it's like and I
23:15think there's a danger in being addicted
23:17to anything do you know what I mean I
23:18think I became realized I was addicted
23:20to that part of just not stopping and
23:23that fear of like if we stop we're going
23:25to drop off yeah like the band's not
23:28going to be anymore someone's going to
23:29take over someone's going to be bigger
23:31and better than us and blah blah blah
23:32and it were like
23:34really kind of sitting down and go you
23:36know what you at some point you've got
23:39to accept that this is how big your band
23:40are and you've also got to ask yourself
23:43how much do you want to do to to earn
23:47that extra size or you know whatever
23:50like do you really want to go on Tik Tok
23:52and and do all the dances and do all the
23:54things do you really want to be on
23:55social media doing lives and do you
23:57really want to do x y andz you really
23:58want to be killing yourself in studio
24:00every day when you don't even want to
24:01write music just out of that fear of
24:03like we might not be the biggest band
24:06and and I realized no I remember the
24:08first time we came back after lockdown I
24:09looked at crowd I like [Â __Â ] hell this
24:11we're playing Arenas we're a big band
24:14like just take it just be happy with it
24:17just [Â __Â ] it who cares who cares if
24:19someone's bigger who cares if someone
24:21takes over who cares what's that got to
24:22do with you there's like it's like
24:24almost like before our viewing like
24:26there's a a
24:29amount of success out there yeah do you
24:32know what I mean and if someone takes it
24:34it takes away My Success do you know
24:35what I mean it like this whole just
24:38insane View and I
24:40think that's where I started breaking
24:42off because we we we' got into that
24:45mindset together and I
24:48think I was trying to move away from it
24:52where Jordan couldn't to some degree um
24:56just because we were so used to it so it
24:59was harder but it also
25:03like when we were doing NextGen and we
25:05said oh it's going to come out September
25:07it wasn't finished but we were moving at
25:09a pace that it felt like it were going
25:11to be finished yeah do you know what I
25:13mean but I remember just going I want to
25:16finish this [Â __Â ] record I hate
25:18writing this record I'm so miserable
25:20this sucks I just want it done I just
25:21want to go back and live a normal life I
25:23just want to go on holiday I just want
25:25to blah blah blah you know what I mean
25:28and I just realized they wer and I
25:31realized they weren't happy you know
25:33what I mean and what I realized after
25:35Jordan left
25:37is the atmosphere got better and the the
25:41I realized oh my God how did I get to a
25:44point where I going I want to finish
25:45this record I [Â __Â ] hate it when I
25:47love making music I love creating I love
25:49art like it's my favorite thing to do I
25:51do it for fun if I'm not making music
25:53I'll write a story I'll draw I'll make a
25:56t-shirt for drop whatever I love that
25:58how did I get how did it get so bad that
26:00I was saying I want it over with and I
26:02realized after like okay we're at Jordan
26:05this is going way slower this is
26:07harder um but the band got more involved
26:12again they came back but they been like
26:14you know pushed out to some
26:17degree everything became more like we
26:20were making art for Art's Sake do you
26:21know what I mean and I thought no I
26:24don't want this to be over like I just
26:26just got to get into my head it's like
26:29it'll take as long as it take and if I
26:30want to work 2 hours today and I don't
26:32feel it after that stop yeah I don't
26:35give a [Â __Â ] how long people been waiting
26:36for this record I don't care like I the
26:39deadlines it's like we put these
26:40deadlines on ourselves and it's like we
26:42get upset when we don't meet them but
26:44like the world doesn't stop turning no
26:45one dies yeah and um I think I think in
26:50the review for our album you guys said
26:52like soon as the record is out feels
26:54like ancient history that whoever
26:56waiting for it it's done it's sooner or
26:58later it comes out and then it's just
27:00like where's the next one anyway you
27:02know what I mean so like it doesn't
27:03matter it's just time and it's just like
27:05it were getting all that stuff into my
27:07head like truly and really and believing
27:10it and going yes that's true yeah this
27:12can wait people can wait whatever
27:14happens to our band who cares I need
27:17this to make me happy we're at a place
27:20now that like I don't want any more
27:22money I don't want all else in life I
27:24don't I'm I I just want to look back on
27:26our career and goal we made [Â __Â ] sick
27:29stuff yeah and we did what we we
27:31artistically want to do not oh we did a
27:33collab with this guy because they gave
27:35us this money or because we thought it'
27:36improve our profile or whatever and you
27:38know all that stuff it's like nah no way
27:40not doing that anymore so what there
27:42wasn't like any kind of VH1 behind the
27:44scenes fistic cuffs it was just two
27:46paths going different ways exactly yeah
27:49very like I like I've said in other
27:51interviews I'm not going to [Â __Â ] sit
27:53here and go oh just creative differences
27:55and you know we wish him the best and
27:58we're all on good terms and blah blah
27:59blah it's because it's never like that
28:02you know what I mean it's life um just
28:04like all breakups you know what I mean
28:06it's they never end even the most
28:09amicable Ones Still there's you know
28:12there's a split it's there's feelings do
28:14you know what I mean yeah you see every
28:15was like oh best mates my ex is like
28:16you're a liar yeah not yeah but it's
28:22it's also like very boring what happened
28:25there's no there's no headline there
28:26it's going to be a very short scene in
28:27the bring me mov
28:28it's not going to be any scene we'll
28:29never do one of them cuz that's the
28:31thing we bring where eyes and it's our
28:33story is a very slow long climb to the
28:37top no one died no one's every time they
28:39tell one documentary I'm like [Â __Â ] no
28:42like I like look at someone like Foo
28:44Fighters have had the most insane story
28:46ever and I still don't want to watch
28:47that documentary no offense like you
28:49want a bit mystery as well yeah like I
28:51don't care like he and he's been through
28:54so much lost so many people at St I
28:56still no offense still don't want to
28:57watch it so why would you want to watch
28:58a [Â __Â ] brm the eyes in one do you
29:00know what I mean we've done it's it's
29:02just us being like
29:04slow reach to like being a big band no
29:07one's no particularly exciting's ever
29:10happened you know what I mean even like
29:12oh yeah you're addicted to drugs
29:13whatever who wasn't in a rock band you
29:15know what I mean it's like and it's the
29:17same with Jordan it's not there do you
29:19know what I mean not exciting it just we
29:22just got to a point
29:23where we weren't happy as a unit anymore
29:26I think
29:29the band are better off without him he's
29:31better off I think Jordan's such a
29:33[Â __Â ] awesome producer and songwriter
29:35and everything he's got so much to offer
29:37so many other bands he's going to go and
29:38make so many bands way sicker you know
29:41what I mean um and I think he's going to
29:43flourish and I think it's just it would
29:47just one the time he served our band
29:49really well and the band won't be where
29:51we are without him um I would't be I I
29:54don't if I'd be able to sing do you know
29:55what I mean I mean I'm sure I would but
29:57he he was the agent in that he was the
30:00person that helped me do that yeah I've
30:02learned so much from him I think he's
30:04learned a lot from me and I think it's
30:07just and I also like I'm sure one day
30:10we'll see each other again and we'll
30:11talk and nothing's happened where it
30:14couldn't be you know it couldn't be
30:15sorted out over a drink you know what I
30:17mean
30:18so yeah that's that yeah that's like if
30:20you pick up little pieces of all the
30:22people you know and the people you meet
30:23and the people you love and like
30:25Jordan's DNA is going to stay and bring
30:26me in some sense but then you now you've
30:29rediscovered the chemistry with the rest
30:30of the guys right cuz that's at the
30:32heart of bring when you see you guys
30:33live on stage you go they're they're a
30:34band they're not just four individuals
30:35they're a band so you you still sense
30:38Jordan's DNA but you're also
30:41appreciating the chemistry with the with
30:42the other three right yeah totally I
30:45mean yeah I think me and Jordan learned
30:47so much together about songwriting and
30:50we grew and and there's no doubt that
30:54like things that he did are a part of
30:57what we are as a band you know what I
30:59mean and and we'll have that um but also
31:02before Jordan came in the band our bands
31:04were
31:05always I think every album we've ever
31:07done just got better you know what I
31:09mean personally like from count your
31:10blessings we've just always pushed
31:12ourselves to experiment to get better as
31:15songwriters to do something different to
31:17go somewhere we haven't been before
31:21and although I agree sen paternal a big
31:24jump from there as a hell it it was
31:26always the trajectory that we were on we
31:28were already messing with electronics
31:30we're already trying to be something no
31:33one's heard before we're always trying
31:34to push what it meant to be a metal core
31:37band you know what I mean and I think
31:38it's the same now it's
31:40like I've always had such a strong
31:42vision for our songs and for our records
31:45that like we will get there one way or
31:47another whoever it is and obviously who
31:49we work with and who it it does affect
31:52that Vision that Vision will change and
31:54evolve and grow um but before Jordan we
31:59were all evolving as bring me as a unit
32:03we were all getting better we were all
32:05pushing it and then when that's a SP
32:08onwards it started to be the the decline
32:10in that do you know what I mean where
32:11it's like and I felt it as soon as we
32:13started working on koola the first time
32:14we Jordan it's just
32:17like I think we just got so used to like
32:20post pandemic writing of like you can do
32:22everything on a computer so just do it
32:24yeah that we forgot like how's Matt
32:27going to feel if he does
32:29play the play the drums live or even
32:31just have his own stamp on them do you
32:33know what I mean how's Lee going to feel
32:35or what we're going to miss by by just
32:37writing the Riff on synth and not having
32:39Lee come in and play it and add his own
32:42Cadence and vibe to it and all the all
32:45this stuff that just instantly as soon
32:47as we start working Kool like [Â __Â ] we've
32:49been missing some we haven't had for a
32:51long time and what does someone like uh
32:54Daniel Lancaster bring to the table then
32:56is he just because you he's not like
32:59he's a producer in like the more
33:00traditional sense of like give me the
33:01keys Orie you lift rather than yeah he's
33:05um a
33:07Nutter he's [Â __Â ] so sick um he's I
33:11mean I've been working on with him for a
33:13while on my wife elstic stuff yeah which
33:16is also a check it out yeah so we've had
33:19like a good and he's always brought so
33:21much to like I've just always seen I've
33:24always wanted to work with him and it
33:25was actually another reason he was kind
33:28of not allowed um so when Jordan
33:32left he it opened up a role for him and
33:36he's just I mean he's like I've never
33:40met someone who can just like every time
33:42we work with songwriters before every
33:45time they do a melody or whatever I'm
33:47always like okay what else you got okay
33:49what else you got we're trying to figure
33:51out
33:52together I don't know if he just got
33:54lucky on a roll but every single Melody
33:56that guy's come out with initial there
33:59I'm like that's the one right that's
34:00what we're going with let's let's work
34:02on that one I can feel it and I he just
34:06it's like he has this really unique
34:09ability to like truly tune in with what
34:11we're doing and go what what's it saying
34:14yeah what kind of and he worked on
34:16Kool-Aid with me the first
34:18song and when he and I've always wanted
34:20to be a bit more like have those full
34:22set you kind like I like imagine if
34:25radio had did a metal Co song what would
34:26it sound like do you know what I mean
34:27and it were like and as soon I that's it
34:30and we just and even challenge sometimes
34:32like nobody loves you like I love you I
34:35like it's too weird it's too weird for
34:37like we'll do that as a b part you know
34:39what I mean but and then Sly I went no
34:41there's stach there some there and he's
34:43just time and time again as just like
34:47and it's just I think that freshness as
34:48well I think before we might I think we
34:51might have started to get stuck in it
34:52and I think that's why we weren't
34:53getting stuff a lot because we were
34:55finding ourselves in Old patterns trying
34:57to get the
34:58nine in the same places that were
34:59already been
35:00like like milked do you know what I mean
35:03so it was so refreshing to have someone
35:05with completely different that not work
35:07with us at all to come in and just offer
35:10this new sense of things so yeah he's
35:13he's like him and Zach Saven are like
35:17you
35:17know the the nights and shining armor
35:21for this record they really came in at
35:22the 11th hour and and helped me and
35:25helped us kind of
35:28get those last bits that we needed you
35:29know what I mean yeah we got some really
35:32surprising collaborators on the record I
35:34mean we love Aurora enemy don't we Dean
35:36we
35:37do um we know she loves metal but people
35:40might be surprised to see someone like
35:41Aurora on this record I mean how did you
35:42uh how did you land on that
35:45um I just messaged on Instagram with the
35:48song um I don't know why I kind of
35:52thought that she liked metal or had an
35:54inkline and maybe also
35:58had some reason to believe that she
35:59might like our band I know she's
36:02connected on some levels with u sigd and
36:05maybe I heard from the manager oh yeah I
36:07lik you too and stuff so I didn't know
36:09it but like for shoot my shot you know
36:11what I mean
36:13um I knew what I wanted on that song and
36:15it was
36:16like someone to bring something that
36:19could level it up on on a different
36:20level like someone like a really
36:22ethereal haunting beautiful like deep
36:25voice because we'd already finished the
36:26song and it I was on all the vers and
36:28everything and I like I don't just want
36:30someone who just going to come and do
36:32what I'm doing like I want someone to
36:33like elevate it and take it somewhere
36:35else obviously like the song itself is
36:38very deaf terms influenced almost to a
36:40point of par there um so we wanted some
36:43that could help us also like like you
36:46know for this whole record it's like
36:48we're happy you know happy to admit that
36:51like they're all very nostalgic home
36:52home archers to like loads of bands but
36:55it's like also felt very important that
36:57we do something where we're pushing it
37:00as well to make it our own put our own
37:02stamp on it and um yeah Aurora in my
37:06head could be that person that did that
37:08helped Elevate the song to it to to
37:10something that feels exotic and
37:13different you know um so I message on
37:17Instagram and sees that she's read it
37:20and just nothing I'm like okay I thought
37:22it was a long shot uh and 10 days later
37:27just says we pretty much confirmed
37:29someone else which is really annoying
37:31and shitty of us but we thought it was
37:34it kind of happened where like started
37:35exploring other people fan artists they
37:37said yes but while we were waiting for
37:40them to say yes she messaged me so I
37:42messaged management oh he's going to do
37:44it and oh so and so said yes like [Â __Â ]
37:48so I'm really I'm not obviously not
37:49going to mention but really hope we
37:51haven't burnt our Bridge with them um
37:54but yeah Aurora got back to me 10 days
37:55later I've just listened to it oh my God
37:57all caps lock million times yes I love
37:59this so much I'm doing it when just let
38:02me know um and yeah that we it she came
38:05to Dan's apartment actually in London
38:08and we just banged it out in a
38:10day and uh yeah it was everything I was
38:12hoping it would be and
38:14also the whole idea with the the guest
38:17on this record is it's a mixture of the
38:20bands that influence this record and the
38:24you know glass Jo my favorite band the
38:26band that may want to be singer under
38:29oer you know probably like one of the
38:32the main Staples of that whole movement
38:34yeah you know what I mean and like
38:36responsible for defining such a sound um
38:40but then also like who are who who are
38:43tomorrow's um stars what do they look
38:46like do you know what I mean and USU was
38:48obviously one um just for their the way
38:52they treat music yeah the way that they
38:54just
38:55go here has a bunch of paint on wall
38:58here's like here's me doing systemer

39:03like I don't give a [Â __Â ] what anyone
39:04says and almost like getting to work
39:08with them seeing that that all
39:11that it seems like chaos from the
39:13outside but it's not they know what

39:18to them for their
39:20record um they said no to about I almost
39:24sent 12 songs or like heavy riff and
39:27like a bit of an 808 verse thinking oh
39:29they'll love this you know what I mean
39:30got to wrap over this ver and like nah
39:32nah no like I need the real [Â __Â ] man
39:34where's the real [Â __Â ] where's
39:35sleepwalking where's this one I like if
39:38you don't like this what we like doing
39:40and I said I've got this one but it's to
39:43ever and send the the werewolf track and
39:46they're like 100% this is it this is the
39:47one so like [Â __Â ] they know exactly what
39:49they want yeah so even though it might
39:51seem from the outside but they're just
39:53mental they're not do you know what I
39:55mean they are but there's um yeah
39:58there's um definitely a vision there and
40:02then Aurora for me is like what a pop
40:05star should be what the next wave of pop
40:06star should look like someone that has
40:08the songs but is a real person that
40:12doesn't dare to be speak what they
40:14believe in gives a [Â __Â ] what gives a
40:15[Â __Â ] about the world doesn't care
40:18about cutting TI of a sponsor that's
40:20based in a certain country by saying
40:22something that's going to go don't care
40:24about how their
40:27political views is going to divide their
40:30fan base doesn't care about burping or
40:33being a real person or whatever you know
40:34what I mean just like we've we've had
40:36that haven't we do it's like it's
40:37wholesome and I know that sounds like a
40:39bit square but it's like they're singing
40:42about real things that mean stuff but
40:43there it's you know and don't get me
40:45likee J leer and all the big pop stars
40:48are awesome but I do sometimes get the
40:50sense
40:51like how many times can you sing about
40:54dancing a lover not being good enough
40:57like are you the one do you know what I
40:58mean how many times can you and I do
41:00find that with a lot of Pop albums it's
41:02like it's like you found the thing that
41:05makes you big and you and you and and
41:07you sticking to it you know what I mean
41:08it's like whereas like Aurora it's just
41:11again it's like a constant desire to be
41:13something more and push pop and and and
41:16and use that platform for good and I
41:18just think she is what the next wave of
41:21pop stars will look like you know what I
41:23mean I don't think kids will I think the
41:25younger generation are want something
41:29with something tangible something with
41:31actual like substance you know uh
41:33similar getting Spencer from under on
41:34the record yeah only he could sing that
41:36line right mhm that song Israel
41:38Palestine right and so of it's about the
41:41world's interaction with conflict yeah
41:44yeah yeah yeah yeah I think it's it's a
41:46good one to explain actually because
41:49although I find it quite funny um people
41:52getting upset about us about an
41:54anti-religious um line you know bearing
41:57in mind what we've had in our you know
42:00in the past um I've kind of been open
42:03about my views on organized religion
42:06although I think I'd like to say that
42:09like I've never been I'm I've never been
42:13like actively against organized religion
42:16or at least My Views have definitely
42:17softened to it as I've grown older and
42:19stuff and obviously when you're like
42:20young 20s and had my own reasons for you
42:23know rejecting that kind of stuff um
42:27I've got a lot of friends I've got two
42:29friends in the last couple years that
42:30have both um both turned to Faith and
42:35I've seen how it's helped them
42:37profoundly like one a guy in America who
42:40lost a family member and turn to it I've
42:41seen how much that's helped them as a
42:44person and a really close friend here in
42:45England as well that I never would
42:47imagined you know told me like I just
42:49feel like I've got a purpose and I think
42:51if organized religion can bring out the
42:53good in
42:54you that's brilliant and I think Faith
42:58while I don't think faith is
43:01necessary for contentment I think having
43:04some kind of Faith even if it's just the
43:07belief
43:08that I believe there's a like I I
43:11believe in higher power I believe I
43:12believe I have a guardian angel I
43:13believe there's too many times where I
43:14should be dead or I should be in prison
43:16or I should and something has pulled me
43:18out I believe that would I die for that
43:21belief I don't know but there's nothing
43:23wrong and it's I think it's good and
43:25healthy to have those beliefs even if
43:26it's like I I believe 1111 means
43:28everything's good today do you know I
43:30mean whatever it is I think there's no
43:31harm in it's good to have to believe
43:34because there's definitely some bigger
43:35there's definitely some whatever it is
43:37whether it's conscious or not it's um I
43:40personally believe in in a higher power
43:42I consider myself spiritual so although
43:46like you know anyone who needs our band
43:49to be religious for them to like us I'm
43:51sorry that's not going to happen but um
43:54that song is not at all anything to do
43:55with a a slight God or Jesus or anything
43:58it's yeah it's um it were it's intended
44:01to be like a critique of of the the
44:04conflict in Israel and Palestine um and
44:07it's kind
44:08of the whole idea is it's spoken from
44:11the imagined perspective of a of a war
44:13victim so it's always coming from their
44:15mouthpiece you know yeah the first verse
44:18is directly aimed at us as the Western
44:21World how we kind of I feel like
44:24we we just view Wars through like the
44:27lens of like blame and and who deserved
44:30that and oh they had it come in and and
44:32like well they shouldn't have done that
44:34we kind of view like a country as one
44:36unit do you know what I mean like well
44:38they had it coming it's like but all
44:41those people didn't ask for that they
44:43didn't make the conscious decision Alto
44:45together as you know same like Russia or
44:47whatever it's like we go well Russia had
44:48that com in when they got blown up
44:50whatever it's like you but all those
44:51people didn't ask for that yeah they're
44:53guilty of nothing but being born in that
44:55country and I think too often we just
44:58you know you sit around you know
45:01enjoying dinner and wine and you talk
45:03about well I think they should do this
45:04and I think should and I think well if
45:06they didn't want that to happen they
45:07shouldn't have invaded the thir you know
45:09I mean it's like we're forgetting that
45:10there's real human beings that got know
45:13to do with any of the decisions being
45:14made so it's a critique of of that kind

45:23kind of like viewing on this analytical
45:25basis of like well they deserved it and
45:27you know and rarely are we given any
45:29kind of constructive or helpful we're
45:32not going oh I want to help I want to
45:33change we're just minute silence nice
45:36one do you know what I mean it's like
45:38and then the second verse with the the
45:40lyric that offended a lot of people is
45:43is this war victim hitting back at the
45:46powers that be the whole idea is of the
45:51Jesus killing twice and it's like is
45:55this kind of meant to encapsulate this
45:56kind of
45:57anger and despair at the people in power
45:59that even if someone is significant as
46:01Jesus
46:02returns they just kill him again because
46:04anyone that comes and advocates for
46:06peace or change or opposes moral you
46:09know beliefs are just nearly always
46:12every time we've seen that in history
46:14yeah they're just quashed you know what
46:15I mean so it's the idea obviously the
46:18lyric was influenced by the location of
46:20the conflict do you know what I mean
46:22this idea that if he was to return just
46:24kill him again because you don't want
46:26anyone you the same way as
46:29the uh I'm sorry did my back hurt your
46:32knife lyric is the idea is like I'm
46:34sorry if I I've upset you because I've
46:36called you out for what you're doing
46:37people in power usually just shift the
46:39blame onto the the oppressed and go and
46:41get angry at them for calling them out
46:43for what for their oppressive nature do
46:45you know what I mean so yeah the whole
46:47um
46:49song's uh definitely more well it is
46:51about it's not to do with religion to be
46:53honest the only reason Jesus came up is
46:55because of the location of the conflict
46:58so um yeah I think it feel like it's
47:01kind of important to that because when I
47:03asked Spencer to sing
47:05it and um he said well I'm not religious
47:07anymore so I don't care and I like yeah
47:09but I want you to know that it's it's
47:12not just it's not just for shock it's
47:14not just like it's not just to be edgy
47:15you know what I mean there's a there's a
47:16reason here and I think if anyone goes
47:18back and reads those lyrics a whole it's
47:20it's actually quite obvious yeah well it
47:22speaks to the the theme of the record
47:24it's a human record it's about progress
47:25It's about change it's about finding
47:26piece so I just wanted to end by saying
47:30if postum part one was about scorching
47:34the Earth were all [Â __Â ] we're all
47:35doomed this is a record about finding
47:37peace finding progress finding answers
47:39where does the art go next that's an
47:42interesting one because it's like I said
47:45the the whole record is there's a a a
47:49proper narrative there that actually
47:51explains the first record and the whole
47:53progress I've realized what I've been
47:54doing for years is building this world
47:56in my head head and not telling anyone
47:57about it and this is the first record
48:00we're going would tell everyone but I
48:03also don't want to bore anyone who just
48:06wants to hear the music so that that
48:09narrative that whole thing for
48:10everything is hidden and I guess if you
48:14want to know more about that join our

48:18all the secrets the story and we're
48:20constantly I'm writing every day and
48:22like unfolding everything and it goes
48:25far back goes past even um survival
48:28horror so um that narrative is going to
48:33feed into the next one and I can't it's
48:36I don't want to give all away because
48:38the way the record ends for me
48:39personally is realizing
48:41that I've got to leave I've got to I've
48:44got to end a lot of relationships I've
48:46got to end like I've got to some leave
48:48my own country I've got to get away and
48:50I've got to kind of kill a part of
48:51myself and realizing I can't heal in the
48:54place that made me sick and that's why
48:56that song on the record feels a bit like
48:58a suicide note or a goodbye letter um
49:01it's me realizing like it's like a bit
49:03of sweet ending of
49:05like I I'm fully on this path now of
49:07healing but it's going to it's it's
49:09going to mean I've got to kind of kill a
49:13part of
49:14myself um but what that means in the
49:16narrative it it it kind of leaves it on
49:19a cliffhanger in a way and I think just
49:22like this records turned into like such
49:25a bigger Beast than I ever thought it
49:26would do it's be like a bit it's a bit
49:30too soon to to tell you exactly where
49:32it's going to go I've got an idea I've
49:34got an idea of what the next record not
49:36only sounds like but where it is and
49:40it's not in a good place um
49:44but
49:46it's it it's like it's all to play for
49:49almost like it's I mean this Probably
49:50sounds like gobble the goo because you
49:51don't know what I'm talking about but I
49:53guess it's just it's four records and
49:55this is like that
49:57act usually where things go south you
50:00know um so but we'll see I anything
50:04could change just like this last record
50:06could change anything could change so
50:08we'll see and it'll come when it comes
