00:15under the hood of this 2025 Forester a
00:182.5 L 4 cylinder matched to a CVT it has
00:22180 horsepower and 178 lb feet of torque
00:26compared to the previous model that's
00:30but you gain two extra pound feet of
00:33torque standard all-wheel drive this is
00:36not the hybrid it has been announced yes
00:38they're going to have a hybrid that'll
00:39be coming uh in about a year from now
00:41actually it's coming up in our Hot Topic
00:43so make sure you stick around for that

00:46what are the key standard features the
00:48bass trim comes with a 4.2 in
00:51multi-information display a 7-in
00:53touchcreen wired Apple carplay and
00:56Android auto a four- speaker audio
00:59system six-way manual driver seat

01:04front seats cloth upholstery eyesight
01:07version 4 with wide angle mono camera in

01:43they're calling this an allnew Forester
01:45the Next Generation it is kind of a
01:47carried over drivetrain but all new on
01:49the outside with a whole bunch of
01:50features are you then some minor tweaks
01:53are you enjoying the tweaks over there I
01:55am enjoying the tweaks the power is
01:57better in this model I'm I know on paper
02:01it doesn't really get much more but you
02:04can tell the difference it's just been
02:07tuned differently there's improvements
02:09to the transmission I think that's the
02:11secret sauce yeah yeah it feels more
02:13refined noise vibration and harshness is
02:17much better cabin is quieter I just feel
02:21like it really eats up those bumps in
02:23the road all right so what's uh dissect
02:25so the the platform is carried forward
02:28but they have done modifications so the
02:30front suspension has been redone they've
02:32got a new subframe they've put in there
02:34the geometry is slightly changed if you
02:36get the sport model they have different
02:37dampers on that one and then the CBT has
02:41a wider range of available ratios now
02:45and that's that instant get you away
02:46from a stop sign kind of thing it's
02:48quite satisfying and it has the mocked
02:51shifts and most people wouldn't even
02:53know what is a CVT no and that's it this
02:56engine matched to a CVT is quite quiet
02:59it of course when you accelerate on the
03:01highway you're going to hear the engine
03:04but when you're just going at you know
03:06kind of like this regular speeds staying
03:09within the speed limit the cabin is
03:11quiet torsional rigidity on this model
03:14has been improved by 10% and this model
03:18has a modified version of the WRX
03:21steering rack and you can tell that it
03:24is more responsive a little bit more
03:26precise than the previous model so what
03:28they've done this is kind of a Subaru
03:30trade is they don't blow everything up
03:32they take what they've got and they make
03:34it better and you can just tell they've
03:36been polishing this and making it
03:37shinier will'll get to The Styling on
03:39the outside in a moment but yeah um
03:41modified of what they already had which
03:43was good now it's just all better
03:46there's been improvements to the
03:47all-wheel drive system making the
03:49response time a little bit faster
03:52traction better in on different road
03:54conditions the eyesight technology
03:58you've got the latest version eyesight 4
04:01Hill descent control and X Mode come
04:03standard available dual function X mode
04:07okay so eyesight's a big selling feature
04:08for Subaru they're known for their
04:10safety so they've had the stereo camera
04:12stereo means two and they've added a
04:15third one now it's called a mono camera
04:17so these two look down the road and
04:19that's a lot of the safety but this
04:21single camera has a very wide angle so
04:24it captures people on the side
04:26pedestrians bicycles and uh oncoming
04:29traffic yeah now we were at the LA Auto
04:31Show when they unveiled this uh last
04:33November and a lot of people just jumped
04:35all over this thing saying oh it looks
04:37terrible listen I don't know if you know
04:39this but the existing Forester isn't the
04:41prettiest girl at the dance I think this
04:43is an improvement honestly they've got a
04:46lot of little tricks they've done to
04:47make it look sleeker but it still has
04:50the best feature about this vehicle the
04:52big glass for sure you still have that
04:54greenhouse effect that everybody wants
04:57from Foresters so they have kept that
05:00big Windows big doors getting in and out
05:02of the vehicle is so easy if you have
05:05any mobility issues or back problems I
05:08think it looks good it's better than the
05:11previous model uh but looks are
05:14subjective so you decide I don't really
05:16think anybody's buying Subaru models for
05:18their beauty they're looking at
05:21safety exactly and so uh the feedback is
05:25it has a bit of maybe a CRV Vibe and it
05:28also has a bit of Ford in the grill and
05:30they've done this where they've widened
05:32the aesthetic of the car with a wider
05:34Grill and same with the elements around
05:37the back and just to give it a more
05:39square look but still have the
05:41ruggedness that people expect from
05:43Foresters it's all these little tricks
05:44they've done and one is that they've
05:46made the windows by the AER here a
05:48little bit lower you actually have
05:50better visibility than the last month
05:51the Forester has 8.7 in of ground
05:53clearance and comes standard with LED
05:56steering responsive headlamps LED tail
05:58lamps raised roof rails 17 18 and 19in
06:02wheels and a temporary spare tire
06:05available features include LED fog lamps
06:09the allnew lowprofile roof rails for a
06:12sleeker style that you see on our test
06:14model and the sport model has bronze
06:16accents and bronze wheels and 19-in
06:19wheels are new for this model bigger
06:22Wheels we're riding on those right now
06:24and ride Comfort not an issue okay so
06:27Andrea they've gone with a lot of
06:29texture on the inside of this you can
06:31see it on the dash pad you see it at the
06:33bottom of the doors even in the trunk
06:35area they've got all these textures I I
06:38think May for me personally it's a
06:39little busy do you like it no I don't
06:41think it's too busy because it's really
06:44only on the dash here the other one has
06:46some ultra suede on the side I'm
06:49actually really impressed with the
06:50quality of materials that are in this
06:53top trim I know it's the top trim but
06:56boy there really are a lot of soft touch
06:59and it depends on the trim that you get
07:01it has different stitching and different
07:03accents in here like the sport model
07:06gets all the bronze accents um but I
07:09like that they've done that because each
07:11model is a little bit unique in its own
07:13way okay so they did admit that if you
07:16get this top trim it now comes with
07:18ventilated seats which is a big deal a
07:20lot of people want ventilated seats but
07:22because of that uh they are a little bit
07:24firmer so if you're kind of concerned
07:26about that try maybe one trim down and
07:29see if you want these storage is
07:31sufficient in here I find the door
07:33Pockets to be a little bit narrow
07:35storage at the center console is pretty
07:37good but there is some piano black in
07:40here around the center console on the
07:42doors as well as near the traditional sh
07:46not bad though Andrea sometimes they're
07:48like yes I know it's an addiction we say
07:50they've all got to break this addiction
07:52but it's not as uh bad as others that's
07:55that's a good thing and do you know what
07:56I like Zach traditional shifter in here
08:00love it now this comes standard with
08:02cloth upholstery available premium cloth
08:05on the sport model you've got an all-
08:06weather soft touch material leather is
08:10also available and on this top trim it's
08:12an ultra suede and leather combo the top
08:15trim is the only one that gets that
08:18brown interior so um all the other
08:21models you're getting black yeah black
08:24that's it that's it and of course you've
08:25got the available 11.6 in touchcreen
08:28with wireless Apple carplay and Android
08:30auto in this model and they all get it
08:32except for the base model available
08:35features include a wireless charger
08:37navigation a 360° camera power front
08:41seats driver seat memory ventilated
08:44front seats a heated steering wheel
08:46heated rear seats 11 speaker Haron
08:48carton sound system and a panoramic
08:51sunroof here's me getting in the back
08:53seat the doors are big easy to get into
08:56there is plenty like a lot of leg room
08:58good headro it's really quite
09:00comfortable comparing the Forester to
09:02the Nissan Rogue the Forester offers
09:0543.3 in of front row leg room which is
09:08almost 2 in more than the Rogue second
09:11row leg room at 39.4 in is almost an
09:14inch more than the Nissan and then you
09:17lift the power lift gate on this model
09:20and you have a big Square opening that's
09:22another selling feature of Forester
09:25underneath the cargo mat and below the
09:27storage container there is a temporary
09:29spare tire cargo space behind the second
09:31row at 29.6 cubic feet Falls a little
09:35short to the row and overall cargo space
09:37at 74.4 cubic feet of space is about the
09:41same as the Rogue oh look

10:00compares to the Outback it's a good
10:03question because we get asked this
10:06actually quite a bit why pick the
10:07Forester versus the Outback it's
10:10basically form function this is a sort
10:12of classic uh compact crossover shape
10:15more upright the bigger Windows the
10:17square hatch at the back and if you're
10:19not aware um the Outback is based on the
10:22old Legacy platform so it it really
10:24started as a station wagon uh the big
10:27difference for me Andrea if to get maybe
10:29the Outback over this is that's
10:30available still with the turbo engine
10:32they got rid of the turbo engine in this
10:34so if you want more power you want more
10:36cowbell you get the Outback yeah and I
10:38think that's why many choose the Outback
10:41but I did ask Subaru because this is a
10:44question about the turbo engine in the
10:46outback and why doesn't the Forester get
10:49it comes up a lot with our viewers and
10:51followers on Instagram so I asked them
10:53what is the split in Canada for the
10:56Outback turbo versus non-turbo and they
10:58said it's about 5050 and the Forester
11:02used to have a turbocharged engine I'm
11:04sure some of you have that vehicle today
11:07and it did sell well in Canada but not
11:09in the US and for Canada which is a
11:12smaller Market to take on that vehicle
11:14with the turbo on their own that is just
11:17not going to happen and I think people
11:19choose the Forester because of the SUV
11:22look to it love your reviews thank you
11:24how does this new Forester stack up
11:26against the competition h I would say
11:30that it's okay so there's always the
11:32sort of like is it the sporty fun to
11:35drive one or is it really just good
11:37practical Common Sense Transportation
11:39This falls into the more good Common
11:42Sense Transportation the form function
11:44is second to none there is no compact
11:46SUV in my opinion has this form function
11:49big Windows big doors easy to use it's
11:52just easy to live with and I would say
11:54in the non- luxury category it's really
11:56the CX5 or cx50 that will give you that
11:58engage engaging Drive the other ones I
12:01feel that are just smoother comfortable
12:04Vehicles what I have to say uh about
12:07Forester and that Subaru really has come
12:09to the table with this model not only
12:12have they improved the performance of
12:13the vehicle but they've added features
12:16that the Forester was missing things
12:18like this larger 11.6 in tou with
12:22Wireless Apple carplay and Android auto
12:25Zach mentioned that power liftgate with
12:27a kick sensor now and also the surround
12:30view monitor think the one thing I would
12:32say about this you just you just buy
12:33this and you don't think about it it's
12:35just going to do the job it's going to
12:37do the job and you're going to be happy
12:38with it that's really what you're
12:39getting versatile practical offers great
12:43safety and now better looking and how
12:45about the all-wheel drive system too
12:47that's what I mean just just drive it
12:49don't worry about it yeah love the
12:51videos thank you did they manage to keep
12:53the same amount of cargo room for this
12:55new model so basically it's the same
12:58size as the old one uh it's it's only 15
13:01mm longer and 15 mm wider which is
13:04nothing that's just 1 and 1/2 CM yeah
13:07less than half an inch or just over half
13:09an inch I I don't I don't calculate
13:11between metric and uh and um Imperial
13:13but anyway in the cargo area only when
13:16the back seats are up you got a slightly
13:18larger cargo area so when the seats are
13:21up it's slightly bigger but really the
13:23volume Remains the Same this gets 74.4
13:27cubic feet of space in the previous
13:29model up to 74.2 so the same teeny weeny
13:33and now it's time for our Hot Topic
13:35what's this one Andrea me I please know
13:37when is the Forester hybrid coming
13:39thanks and love your show so what we
13:41know about the hybrid is it's coming in
13:43about a year spring of 20125 it'll be
13:46arriving and they say it's going to be
13:48using Toyota technology but how it's
13:50going to be implemented is still a
13:51question mark yeah and it's going to
13:53have a super boxer engine it's not going
13:55to have a Toyota engine but whether it
13:57will have an ecvt or CVT these are
14:00details we don't know however at this
14:03event Subaru Canada did announce to us
14:06that across track hybrid is coming when
14:09well we don't know at a future time and
14:12I did ask about Outback cuz I know you
14:14guys are wondering about an Outback
14:16hybrid as well and they really wouldn't
14:19say what did they say Zach we don't talk
14:20about future products and it said well
14:22you just did you talked about this
14:24coming next year and cross Trek coming
14:26so that's good anyway exciting things
14:28coming from Subaru all right so let's
