00:00so this bike light is small and compact
00:03literally turns night into day but it
00:06has another absolutely killer feature
00:08that sets it apart from anything else
00:11that I've tried I I love cool little
00:14gadgets like this and for the price I
00:15paid yeah and this thing is awesome my

00:21to trace Del now I'm not sure about you
00:23but I reckon I do about 30 maybe 40% of
00:26my rides this time of year in the dark
00:30after Sunset the days are just so short
00:32so having a decent Set of Lights has
00:34always been key for me so we are talking
00:37front lights today and I've covered a
00:40couple on the channel in the past and
00:41I'll throw up some uh some video of
00:44those and they've been really really
00:45good but this one that I'm showing you
00:47now is just so cool and it's yeah Like A
00:50Cut Above in in a lot of ways actually
00:53and it's worth stating the company magic
00:56shine yeah magic shine they've not
00:58contacted me to do a sponsored video or
01:00or anything like that I found this on
01:02AliExpress and yeah I bought it with my
01:04own cash so um yeah with that with that
01:07out of the way yeah let me show you this
01:11thing okay so first off this light is
01:15well it's incredibly bright the maximum
01:18output is 1,600 lumens and I can
01:21definitely believe it it's it's
01:22difficult to show well on camera in the
01:25dark but when you have it on it's like
01:27literal daylight streaming out the front
01:30of your bike and the sort of pattern of
01:32the beam is really good as well I I
01:34tried my best to record on the go here
01:36but it's been specifically designed to
01:38hang under the handlebars so means
01:41they've been able to shape the lens to
01:42put the sort of beam perfectly where you
01:44need it on the road so a hallogen bulb
01:46in a car headlight that's 1,200 lumens
01:50there or thereabouts on high beams so
01:53it's at 1600 lumens this thing is well
01:56above that and that's all well and good
01:58literally bright enough for any any
02:00scenario but it's also going to be
02:02enough to Blind any oncoming traffic or
02:05any other cyclists on the other side of
02:07the road I mean I used to get flashed by
02:09cars coming the other way when I was
02:11running this light here and this thing
02:13tops out at 800 lumens
02:16so600 is frankly dangerous in some ways
02:20but that's where the killer feature of
02:22this light comes in honestly that's so
02:24cool so exactly the same as a set of car
02:27headlights it has a high and a low beam
02:30how how cool is that so it comes with a
02:32little remote that you can mount on the
02:34bars or next to your shifters or
02:36wherever so with the click of a button
02:38you can switch between high and low beam
02:40so check this out here we're on a low
02:42beam and then I'll switch it up to high
02:44honestly it's a bit of a game changer I
02:46mean I've never seen a bike light do
02:48this yeah I love it now the unit itself
02:51like I said it's really small and
02:53compact for what it's capable of so a
02:56regular bike light like this one weighs
02:57in at 116 G and this one 157 G so it's
03:02not even that much bigger or heavier now
03:05it can only really be mounted underneath
03:06the bars with a GoPro fitting but it
03:09does come with a decent handlebar mount
03:11in the box that can fit a Garmin on the
03:14top as well now considering the size
03:16battery life is is decent a lot of these
03:18high-powered bike lights will require a
03:20bulky external battery pack but this one
03:23it's all self-contained just a lot
03:25easier to manage it's apparently 4,000
03:27milliamp hours and here are the run time
03:29s for the different modes I will say 2
03:32hours at the maximum brightness is
03:34pretty generous more like an hour and 20
03:36I found but that has been at near
03:38freezing temperatures later on in the
03:40year when it warmed up the battery is
03:42probably going to last a little bit
03:43longer but to be frank the low beam at
03:46800 lumens it's all you really need and
03:483 hours for that runtime yeah that's
03:51pretty accurate maybe closer to 2 and 1/
03:53half hours but more than enough for some
03:55decent night rides and if you want to
03:57see why my frame is so reflective in in
03:59this clip yeah check out the video that
04:01I've linked in the top right that was a
04:03quite a cool project actually another
04:05cool thing so there's a colored LED on
04:07the power button that shows the the
04:10remaining battery but it can be
04:11difficult to see this when you're riding
04:13along but it also mirrors this color on
04:16the remote which yeah really useful so
04:18once it gets below about 20% battery it
04:21goes from Green on the remote which you
04:22can see here over to Red then it below
04:2510% battery it flashes red twice when
04:28clicked and limits you to 200 lumens on
04:30the low beam now I tested it once you
04:32hit this it will last about another 1
04:35and 1 half to 2 hours actually so a
04:37great little safety feature stops you
04:39burning through the battery and getting
04:41stranded in the dark now they've got an
04:43app that you can use to program the
04:45light with whatever modes you want so
04:46you can pick the brightness levels and
04:48set flashing modes or or whatever and
04:50then you can switch between these on the
04:52go with the remote too but if that's too
04:54much faf you can also just use the
04:56button on the actual light to switch
04:58between the basic modes it's it's
05:00basically Wicked I've always wanted to
05:03have high and low beams on a bike light
05:06and the way it's been integrated here
05:08with the remote and everything it's it's
05:10just fantastic now I got mine for 53
05:13quid delivered to my house which I think
05:15is pretty reasonable actually
05:17considering the build quality of this
05:18thing like there's a machined aluminium
05:21housing for the main body and stuff like
05:23that interestingly my one is labeled CBL
05:261600 but you can also find them branded
05:29as Evo 1700 from doing a little bit of
05:32kind of digging around I think I found
05:33out that my one here it's labeled
05:36differently because it's specific to the
05:38Chinese market whether or not there's a
05:40100 Lumen difference in the maximum
05:42brightness between them I I don't know
05:45but I very much doubt it I suspect
05:47they're exactly the same unit now you
05:49can also get them on Amazon for about 90
05:52quid and I think I saw some YouTube
05:54reviews where they had a 15% discount
05:56code from the company so this video is
05:58going to take me like two days to edit
06:01together so while I'm doing that I'll
06:02drop the company magic shine I'll drop
06:04them a message and see if I can hook
06:06that up as well but to be honest if you
06:08can find a listing for it on
06:11AliExpress FBI open up because they're
06:14not that common from from what I could
06:16see that's probably going to be the
06:18cheapest place for you to get it from
06:20but obviously warranties and returns
06:22stuff like that it's going to be a
06:23little bit more sort of problematic but

06:32rides in the dark they're they're a very
06:35common occurrence for me these days
06:37especially with a new a new
06:38three-month-old daughter carving out
06:40enough time during daylight hours on
06:42some days is a near impossible task so
06:45when I find something like this that
06:47just makes riding at night a lot more
06:50enjoyable and quite fun as well to kind
06:52of fiddle around with then yeah I just I
06:55I had to uh had to show you it's just
06:57it's it's a big part night riding is a
06:59big part part of of how I ride so this

07:21thing on Amazon weren't they weren't
07:23exactly glowing I think it had like 3.8
07:25stars out of five so I did a bit of
07:28digging into those reviews and a lot of
07:30the criticisms revolved around the
07:32plastic GoPro mount on the top here I'll
07:35include some pictures but some people
07:36seemingly had this part crack open or
07:39like explode apart and I can kind of see
07:42why so the plastic it does appear to be
07:45quite stiff and brittle so if you
07:47knocked it in the wrong way or dropped
07:49it onto concrete or something I can see
07:51how this would just shatter so yeah like
07:54I I've had no issues with it I will say
07:57that when you press this button down on
07:59the front front this is meant to slide
08:00out but it does get stuck sometimes uh
08:04just because the the fit is quite tight
08:07in there so I can see if you force that
08:09maybe it would snap this off or snap
08:10these two pieces here so what I will say
08:12is that if you do get this just be
08:14careful with this mount on the top I've
08:16had no problems with it it's been
08:18mounted on my bike and I ride over some
08:21some really shoddy roads around here so
08:23it's bouncing all over the place and
08:24I've not had any issues with it over the
08:26last few months but yeah if you do get
08:27it just be cognizant that maybe this
08:29mount on the top isn't the strongest
08:31part of the light um but yeah other than
08:34that I do really love this thing anyway
