00:02watch the grit X2 Pro and this takes
00:05everything from the recently released
00:06Vantage V3 including the new AMOLED
00:09touchscreen display the offline maps the
00:11Dual frequency satellite chipset as well
00:13as their new heart rate sensor and puts
00:15it all into this new ruggedized case
00:16with a sappire lens and while they're at
00:18it they're also adding some enhancements
00:20like an improved nna design for
00:22increased GPS accuracy a new algorithm
00:24to improve hard rate accuracy they're
00:26finally adding breadcrumb Trails without
00:28needing a route and also rolling out
00:30straa route integration so in this video
00:33we're going to go over everything new
00:34with the new grit X2 Pro including all
00:36the new features we'll take a really up
00:38close look at the hardware and I'll give
00:39you my first impressions of what I think
00:41of polar's new flagship watch now this
00:43isn't going to be an in-depth review
00:45though because the software isn't quite
00:46final yet so I haven't been able to test
00:48it with the software that'll be shipping
00:50with the watch when it's available in
00:51the beginning of April but I'll still be
00:53going into tons of detail of what this
00:55watch is all about I've definitely
00:57already been putting it through the
00:58paces though of course so make sure
01:00subscribe to the channel to get a
01:01notification when the full review comes
01:03out in a couple weeks and by the way you
01:05may see a little bit of flicker on some
01:06of the Clips in this video but that's
01:08just due to the frame rate of my camera
01:10not matching the refresh rate of the
01:11watch you don't see that flicker in real
01:13life all right so let's go and get into
01:15what this watch is all about and this is
01:17basically the super beefy super durable
01:19big brother to the Vantage V3 and it
01:22comes in two different versions so
01:23there's going to be a stainless steel
01:25version in both a night black color as
01:27well as a stone gray color which come
01:29with silicone band bands and they also
01:31have a titanium version and the titanium
01:32version comes with both a silicone band
01:34as well as a leather band and that's the
01:36one I have for you here today and then
01:38when it comes to price so the stainless
01:40steel version runs $7.49 and the
01:42titanium version runs $ 869 so it is
01:45quite the bump from the last generation
01:46grit X pro and we'll definitely chat a
01:48little bit about if this new version is
01:50worth the money so the grit X2 Pro
01:52really is all about durability where
01:54they're taking basically everything from
01:55their Vantage V3 and wrapping in either
01:58stainless steel or titanium and along
02:00with that there's also increased scratch
02:01resistance with a sapphire lens and it
02:04also has a military grade durability
02:05rating and they've also increased the
02:07water resistance to 100 m from the 50 m
02:10of the Vantage V3 and then for size so
02:13the grit X2 Pro measures up to have
02:15right around a 49 1 12 mm case from side
02:17to side and it's about 14 1.2 millim
02:20thick including the heart rate sensor
02:22but the heart rate sensor is very flush
02:24by the way just like the vage V3 and
02:26then when it comes to looks and the
02:27design well that's kind of all personal
02:29preference of course but this certainly
02:30has a premium look to it and it's kind
02:32of a far cry from the advantage V3 which
02:34is a good-looking watch as well the
02:36bezel has these notches on the top which
02:38adds a bit of depth to it and there's
02:40black and red markings around the watch
02:42for north south east and west as well as
02:44the buttons the buttons themselves also
02:46have a lot different and more robust
02:48feeling than the Vantage V3 they have
02:50this very satisfying feel to them where
02:52each press is nice and positive with a
02:54nice amount of spring and tension to
02:55them so these silicone bands that come
02:57with a stainless steel model as well as
02:59a titanium version have a similar feel
03:01like the ones found on the original grit
03:02X pro and it also comes with two
03:04different length bands here so it should
03:06accommodate a variety of wrist sizes the
03:08leather band that's included with the
03:09grit X2 Pro Titan feels like a good band
03:12it looks to be a pretty high quality
03:14material here where it's soft in the
03:15inside and then it has a nice finish on
03:17the outside so it should be a good band
03:19for more like everyday and dress up
03:21situations but the leather band only
03:23comes in one length and these are going
03:25to be industry standard bands though so
03:26you can go and swap these out to lots of
03:28other options out there if you wish now
03:30with the increased durability also comes
03:32a bit more weight since there's metal in
03:34the construction so the stainless steel
03:36version weighs 79 G with the band and
03:38then 57 G for just the case and then the
03:41grit X2 Pro Titan weighs 66.7 G with the
03:44shorter silicone band 68.5 G with the
03:47longer silicone band 63.4 G with the
03:50leather band and then 47 G for the case
03:53itself at least on my scale but overall
03:55though I think it's a pretty good size
03:56and weight for this watch at least on my
03:58size wrist the X2 Pro also brings the
04:01same super bright 1.39 in AMOLED
04:03touchscreen display that came on the
04:05Vantage V3 and this display is seriously
04:08really good it gets incredibly bright it
04:10has tons of contrast colors pop like
04:13crazy and there really is zero issue
04:15seeing this Outdoors especially since it
04:16can reach a peak brightness of 1,50 nits
04:19so one concern when it comes to these
04:21kinds of AMOLED displays is pixel burin
04:23but the grit X2 Pro just like the B V3
04:26shifts pixels occasionally just to
04:28prevent this from happening and then it
04:29also comes with a new and improved
04:31faster processor that came on the bag V3
04:33which is supposed to be like 129% faster
04:36or something like that than previous
04:37generations and that's something I
04:39really noticed here on the grit X2 Pro
04:41is that getting around the interfac is
04:43really quite fast you can kind of just
04:45tear around widgets and menus super fast
04:48and there's very little to no delay when
04:49getting around the interface it's a
04:51really good experience for sure and then
04:52one more thing in regards to the
04:54interface is that the grit X2 Pro also
04:56does have a flashlight function where it
04:57can turn to display to a full brightness
04:59which is nice to have in all sorts of
05:01situations when it comes to battery life
05:03the grit X2 Pro can last up to 10 days
05:06as a smartwatch and then up to 43 hours
05:08in their highest accuracy performance
05:10outdoor tracking mode and then they also
05:11do have an Eco training mode which
05:13reduces the sampling rate to get even
05:15longer battery life for extended events
05:17and it charges via a USBC charging cable
05:20with the same magnetic charging
05:21connection as their bage V3 it also
05:23comes with polar's latest fourth
05:25generation heart rate sensor that they
05:26also introduce with ADV Vantage V3 which
05:28they claim is their most accurate sensor
05:30yet now for my testing of the bage V3 I
05:32think it was their most accurate wrist
05:34sensor but it wasn't necessarily quite
05:36as accurate as I was hoping for and this
05:38is just based off the fact that polar
05:40makes some of the most accurate external
05:41heart rate monitors out there like their
05:43h10 heart rate strap and their VAR sense
05:45Optical heart rate monitor but that
05:47level of accuracy on their external
05:49sensors didn't quite translate over to
05:51the Vantage V3 however polar introducing
05:53a completely revised heart rate
05:55algorithm with the grit X2 Pro where
05:57this is supposed to automatically
05:58correct Ina accuracies and heart rate
06:00data on the watch itself where it's
06:02supposed to detect oddities on the Fly
06:04and then automatically adjust the heart
06:06rate data that's being stored for your
06:07activity so let's say you're doing a
06:09weight training session or some
06:10high-intensity intervals where there's a
06:12general Trend that you'd probably expect
06:13with that sort of activity when you're
06:15doing work your heart rate will rise and
06:17then when you're resting in between sets
06:18or intervals your heart rate will lower
06:20and what their new algorithm is supposed
06:21to do here is look for those Trends and
06:23if the data that the heart rate sensor
06:25Hardware is collecting doesn't line up
06:26with a predicted Trend the use software
06:28to kind of adjust this and this all just
06:30happens live in the watch and it makes
06:32these corrections after about 10 to 20
06:34seconds of inactivity and some other
06:35companies definitely do this as well
06:37where the heart rate data that you see
06:38on the watch in real time may not be the
06:40heart rate data that's eventually saved
06:42for your activity so this is basically
06:44that sort of same idea now for how this
06:46actually works again the software isn't
06:48quite final yet but I'll definitely be
06:50covering that in a lot of detail in the
06:51final in-depth review now for all you
06:54vantage B3 owners out there don't worry
06:56they're actually going to be updating
06:57the B3 with that new algorithm with a
06:59software release that'll be coming
07:00around the beginning of April the grid
07:02X2 Pro also comes with a dual frequency
07:04or dualband satellite chipset where it
07:06can not only access different satellite
07:08systems but it also can access multiple
07:10satellite frequencies at one time so the
07:13goal with this kind of technology is to
07:14increase accuracy in environments where
07:16satellite signals can kind of get iffy
07:18like around really tall buildings heavy
07:20tree cover or around like tall Canyon
07:22walls where satellite signals can
07:24actually bounce off those objects which
07:26can lead to inaccuracies now it's not
07:28necessarily just about having a dual
07:29frequency satellite chipset that leads
07:31to increased accuracy there's additional
07:33factors including the antenna design
07:35which play a role on how accurate it'll
07:37actually be and with the new grid X2 Pro
07:39they have a new intended design which
07:41should lead to higher accuracy again
07:43something that I'll be covering in the
07:44review now the Vantage V3 also does have
07:46a dual band or dual frequency satellite
07:48chipset and they're actually going to be
07:50updating the V3 with new firmware which
07:52is supposed to help with more accuracy
07:53so I'll definitely be looping back to
07:55that as well in a follow-up video The
07:57Grid X2 Pro also does come with off line
07:59Maps where you have images of Roads
08:01trails open spaces as well as bodies of
08:03water and there's also going to be
08:05labels for some landmarks like some
08:06larger roads some cities and these Maps
08:09basically add a ton of context to your
08:11location and then all grid X2 Pros will
08:13come with maps pre-installed from North
08:14America as well as Europe but there's
08:16actually even more detailed maps with
08:18contour lines that you can download
08:19through their polar flow website oh and
08:22the grit X2 pro has 32 GB of storage for
08:24all those Maps now they've also
08:26apparently reduced the loading type of
08:28map tile so the maps are supposed to be
08:30more responsive now and load faster so
08:32this should come in handy when you're
08:33panning and zooming around the map now
08:35one thing that was kind of missing from
08:37the bage V3 was a breadcrumb trail of
08:39your historical route when you're doing
08:41an outdoor activity what was kind of odd
08:43though is that you could actually get a
08:44breadcrumb trail but only if you loaded
08:46in a route first if you weren't using
08:48route navigation you wouldn't get your
08:50historical path well one cave out there
08:52is that you could enable the back to
08:54start feature which would then show your
08:55breadcrumb Trail anyhow that Omission
08:57was a little bit odd in the whole scheme
08:58of things compared compared to other
08:59sports Watchers out there but now they
09:01finally added your historical breadcrumb
09:03Trail during any outdoor activity
09:05whether or not you're using navigation
09:07and combined with maps that's finally
09:08the kind of experience I think all of us
09:10were kind of looking for and then
09:11another nice update is that when you're
09:13using a route they've now added
09:14directional arrows for which direction
09:16that you should be going in on the
09:18predetermined route they did already
09:19have turn BYT alerts with Kut before
09:22which was nice but the arrows just help
09:23add additional context and while we're
09:25talking about routes in addition to
09:27commute routes they're also adding
09:29support for straa routes both Kut and
09:31Strava are some of the most popular
09:33tools out there when it comes to
09:34creating routes so it's just great to
09:36see that you now have both options out
09:38there depending on your preference and
09:39then one more new feature for all of you
09:41adventuring out in the mountains is that
09:43they now added vertical speed b as well
09:45as 3D speed data fields to the grit X2
09:47Pro and again what's great about all
09:49these new navigation features is that
09:51they're coming to the advantage V3 via a
09:53software update and as a kind of a bonus
09:56the straa route integration is coming
09:57through all route capable polar walk as
09:59well with the maps by the way for all of
10:02you vantage V3 owners out there you'll
10:03want to go ahead and redownload the maps
10:05when you get the software update for
10:06full compatibility now along with all
10:08those new features the grid X2 Pro also
10:10does come with everything else that
10:12comes with the bage V3 so this is going
10:14to be polar's most capable multiport
10:16watch with tons of sport profiles
10:18there's training feedback like their
10:19cardio load status the recovery feedback
10:21like their nightly recharge feature
10:23there's their boost feature for Sleep
10:25their skin temperature tracking it has
10:26ECG and it also does have their fit
10:28Spark training guidance so again the
10:30grit X2 Pro really is all about taking
10:32everything from the V3 and putting into
10:34a super durable case what I do have to
10:36give polar a lot of credit here with the
10:38grit X2 Pro is making sure that they're
10:40updating the V3 with all the new
10:42features so I think that's really nice
10:43to see but the question is of course how
10:45does it actually perform with all those
10:47new features and those heart rate
10:48algorithms and is it going to be worth
10:50the money well make sure to subscribe to
