00:03i would say my highlight of year course
00:05um has definitely been filled week in
00:06marvel i was lucky to be in jerusalem
00:09trips places it's been a chance to see
00:12all over israel in jerusalem studying
00:14was excellent i really enjoyed all my
00:16volunteering in murder sailing to haifa
00:19the volunteering like i've really really
00:22independently with others to various
00:24different places going to the bedroom
00:27a whole group of people is an amazing
00:29experience my friends are the highlight
00:31my highlight of the year is just it's
00:33just generally being
00:41if you're thinking about coming you
00:42should definitely come on your course
00:44because it provides you with so many
00:46amazing opportunities
00:47i'm going to go home with friends all
00:49over the world i've shared experiences
00:51with friends from america with friends
00:53from sweden with friends
00:54from mexico university will be there
00:57year course is a once in a lifetime
01:00year course has given me a completely
01:02different experience to one which a
01:04i've been able to live with the people
01:06here and i've been able to see everyday
01:08as opposed to just seeing the sights
01:09like the cartel and going to somewhere
01:11that but so far that i've learnt more
01:13about the land i've learned more about
01:14myself and i've just uh
01:16learned a lot of things that's uh it's
01:18amazing how everyone comes about my
01:19brother was on it friends have been on
01:20it and they all say about how
01:22of course you change and i've seen that
01:23happening already you kind of understand
01:24the culture and you understand what's
01:26going on and you just
01:27feel very much at home and that
01:28definitely connects you to each other
01:30you can walk around and you don't have
01:32about people looking at you if you're
01:33wearing a mug and dover you can just
01:36your own be your own self in israel it's
01:38just an experience of a lifetime
01:42i'm having such a great time in israel
01:44it's just amazing i can't even describe
01:57vehicles brings out of you things you
01:59didn't even know you could do
02:00such as teaching we have to get up about
02:0430 and to get to the school for 8 30
02:07and we generally teach english they are
02:11eating when i'm teaching a kid english
02:14he'll also be telling me the words in
02:15hebrew so if i say vincent's word for is
02:18english he'll tell me the same word in
02:20hebrew and so we both learned together
02:22so it's nice to not respect
02:28obviously i've not experienced other
02:30volunteering but i do still think that
02:42i love working with kids but it's hard
02:44work at times i mean sometimes you've
02:45got about a thousand kids running up to
02:48say in the morning you don't you just
02:49want to relax maybe go back to bed but
02:52you've got beer and yeah but it's worth
02:54it at the end of the day
02:55you come back you look at it and you
02:58i've always wanted to work with kids i
03:00absolutely love them they're the cutest
03:02things in the world like when you see
03:03them in the morning you have to smile
03:04you can't be in a bad mood
03:06it kind of just lightens up your day and
03:07i absolutely adore them
03:12just to see a smile on their faces like
03:36it's not even the volunteering just the
03:37whole everything you're by yourself you
03:40much of him but you're not with them and
03:43you have to shop for yourself you live
03:45in your own apartment
03:46it's just yeah you're independent
03:54throughout the year you go through so
03:57much that you do you develop as a person
03:59and i know myself like
04:01i've learned a lot about myself about
04:02other people about how to communicate
04:05and just become a stronger more
04:07independent individuality
04:23since i've been in israel on your course
04:25i've really made a connection with
04:28i haven't become more religious but i've
04:30just felt more in touch with
04:31you know going to synagogue and on
04:33saturdays and praying occasionally and
04:36i just felt really a big connection with
04:38israel in jerusalem when you've got
04:39classes stick out for you think you've
04:41got out of school and you've finished
04:42school going to university
04:43going on my gap year but then you've got
04:45lessons to get up for at seven in the
04:47it's really hard but when you look back
04:48on it you know you've benefited so much
04:50and you've learned so much
04:51studying in jerusalem is so different to
04:52school i call my teachers by their first
04:54name i sit with them at lunch and talk
04:56to them all the time
04:57it's a really relaxed atmosphere in the
04:58classes i'm learning for fun i'm not
05:00studying for an exam
05:01i've chosen most of the subjects i'm
05:02doing and the seers the trips that we go
05:04on are so interactive we go to all
05:07places in israel we see different views
05:09right wing on the left wing which is a
05:11great thing about seducing your course
05:12and i'm just enjoying myself
05:20spending nine months in any place but
05:22especially as well it's gonna
05:24you know make you have you're gonna
05:26experience things and that's gonna tie
05:29you know now when i come here with my
05:30family i'm gonna recognize places i'm
05:32gonna know what to do
05:33and they're gonna be the tourists but
05:34i'm gonna feel like i actually
05:52after being in israel for a year and
05:53coming to shem it's a lot different from
05:56any time i've ever been because i've
05:57been educated so much more about israel
05:59and about the history whereas when i
06:02or even with my family i didn't really
06:04have as much background knowledge
06:20some of the things i've seen they still
06:22affect me and i don't think i don't
06:23think anyone can come here and not be
06:24affected in the slightest like
06:25i think if you're a man you cry for a
06:26girl you cry i think everyone feels the
06:28same especially with the children's
06:57today we're in heart herzl forgot mr
07:00we're actually helping out by giving out
07:02candles and flowers and bottles of water
07:06to people are coming to visit their
07:07loved ones and to show their respects
07:21it's been very emotional especially when
07:23the siren sound if everyone stopped i
07:24saw high-ranking officers saluting the
07:27it made me really think of all the
07:28soldiers that have died for this country
07:47i am currently working at a residential
07:48home for the physically disabled
07:50where i work with disabled adults i feed
07:54lunch i give them their medicine i help
07:55i help work with them in physiotherapy
07:58paint shop go to the mall whatever
08:00they're doing that week whatever you do
08:01for them they thank you a thousand times
08:03i mean i have 60 more people in my
08:05family now it's amazing
08:07today i'm working at levelev it's a
08:09place for mentally challenged and
08:10depressed adults who live
08:12around the rod and basically we just
08:14come here and hang out and have a really
08:16just coming here and saying good morning
08:18to everyone that you see the people
08:19smiling already just because it's a
08:20familiar face that's not
08:22their counselors it's like other people
08:24that were like their friends you know
08:31being on year course has given me
08:34it has made me a more social and
08:38it has increased my love of israel
08:41because of my understanding of israel
08:44and it's taught me with hebrew
09:10when i came to this role i could barely
09:12read i barely understood
09:14like anything and now i can read i can
09:18understand what's going on i can
09:20talk to all different kinds of people it
09:22feels like i've got the key to the
09:25and the israeli people to connect with
09:34being on this program i've experienced
09:35so much that i've i never would have
09:37done back in england like just being
09:39i've never done this in england i've
09:40never i've never felt like i've done
09:43so much for the community and that's
09:44what youtubers have given me
09:57i'm working for mike and david dom in
10:01i'm having a good time
10:05katie in the first few weeks of being in
10:07israel i went on a course
10:09a 10-day course where we learned all the
10:10basic skills how to take blood pressure
10:13how to take the poles basic words in
10:15hebrew what everything means everything
10:19i think it's a good experience to kind
10:21of not be in your comfort zone and have
10:23to learn new things and help other
10:25people instead of just yourself
10:32there are serious times to your course
10:34but that's what makes it as a whole when
10:36you're having a low moment the people
10:39who are next to you become like your
10:40brother and sister and they pull you
10:45i up year course is a lot of fun it's
10:47really the most fun i've ever had but at
10:50you have your bad days you have days
10:52where everything goes wrong it's not
10:53just a year off i'd say that it's a year
10:56almost on myself to develop as a person
11:00i came on year course with some friends
11:02and i've made an incredible amount more
11:04your friends have been through there for
11:05the best and for the worst and for the
11:07most surreal moments
11:08of your life that you'll never be a
11:10chance to experience again
11:11this isn't just a party you get to take
11:13part in on a saturday night
11:14or an exam you have to take at the end
11:16of the year this is a life-changing
11:18experience where you get to see
11:19everything you ever want to see and so
11:30i've always great experience i'm glad i
11:33did it it was hard at a time but
11:35it's so much it's really worth it once
11:37you finish because it's just
11:38a good feeling being in uniform when you
11:40walk around you feel like a soldier you
11:42feel like you're part of israel
11:44and you feel like you belong here
12:00vehicles is different for every single
12:01person like everyone has a completely
12:03different experience
12:04you like craft how you want to make it
12:06you organize your weekends you'll have
12:08the most amazing year
