00:08if they want to inquire about something
00:10they should ask their own husbands at
00:12home oh my goodness this is a talking
00:14about women who are speaking in church
00:16and it sounds like a slap in the face
00:19until you get the context
00:24women were not allowed education there
00:26was no educational opportunity not for
00:28Roman women not for Greek women not for
00:31Jewish women in fact rarely did they men
00:35and women even worship together in all
00:38of the Pagan religions they're usually
00:39just religions for men or religions for
00:42women and the religions that had men and
00:44women together usually had a lot of uh
00:47sexual kind of activities going on not
00:50exactly what we wanted to see happen in
00:53the church so as they were coming
00:56this is the first time this was a
00:58religious experience where men and women
01:00are worshiping God the true God
01:04in a new way there's there's no
01:06reference point even among the Jewish
01:08people in the synagogues the men
01:11worshiped in one part of the building
01:12and the women were relegated to either
01:15the back or the balcony and were not
01:17part of the worship they were
01:19observers from a distance so this was
01:22something totally new in that era
01:27because the women had never had an
01:29opportunity for Education things could
01:32arise in the church they were not
01:34illiterate they couldn't read so many of
01:37these things they would
01:38not understand something so some like
01:41those question asking going on and a lot
01:43of confusion and just not inlining how
01:46to do the process right
01:48and so what Paul says
01:51if they want to inquire about something
01:54that's a good thing they want to
01:56understand what this is about
01:58and they says they should ask their own
02:02what is significant here is this is the
02:06in human history by implication that
02:10husbands are enjoined to make sure their
02:13wives have the same educational
02:14opportunity that they have this is the
02:18first time there's an instruction in any
02:20literature of any philosophy of any
02:25in that part of the world that says
02:28you are to invest time in educating a
02:34and that is a remarkable thing because
02:36husbands now had a responsibility they
02:40had to apply this there was there was
02:42something to be done they were to talk
02:44about it here and they get some they
02:46didn't have the full understanding
02:47remember we go from uh remembering to
02:50understanding but they had to set up a
02:53teaching situation in an appropriate
02:55place to continue to grow and cultivate
02:58this ability this is the first
03:02and this believes a plan always about
03:05using information in new situations wow
03:10this was a new situation women had never
03:13been offered the equal opportunity in
03:16education until the Gospel of Jesus came
