00:04this comes from a Hebrews chapter 3
00:06verse 1. I love this it says the
00:09following and so dear brothers and
00:10sisters who belong to God and are
00:13partners with those called to heaven
00:16isn't that wonderful we're partners with
00:18those called to heaven
00:20think carefully about this Jesus whom we
00:23declare to be God's messenger and high
00:25priest other translations say think
00:28deeply or consider or Ponder upon or
00:31meditate about Jesus
00:35now actually the whole
00:37book of Hebrews is about considering
00:43it follows an uh an ancient genre that
00:51elections when people were championing
00:55the person that they were wanting to
00:57have be the the governor or this
01:00particular role in the city they
01:02developed an art form that was called a
01:04synchrosis and what it did is they they
01:07recounted all the greats in the city's
01:09past and with each person that they
01:12brought up they compared to the
01:13candidate that they were promoting and
01:16they would say well so and so was great
01:19but my candidate is greater that person
01:22is so good so much good in for the city
01:24but my candidate is greater he's better
01:28and so they'd run through how past uh
01:32famous persons in their Nation were
01:34great Educators or great militaries uh
01:41Statesmen or had it benefited the
01:43economy of the city and in every
01:48their candidate is better
01:51Hebrews is like a this political speech
01:54because he's wanting everyone to trite
01:56Jesus as king they're in the time of
01:59persecution it's it's easier to hide and
02:02not acknowledge Jesus as king because if
02:03you did you challenge Caesar and you
02:08but he begins saying angels are
02:10marvelous but Jesus is better chapter
02:12two Moses he was pretty amazing but he
02:14was just a servant in the house of God
02:16and Jesus is the son of the house of God
02:19he's he's better than Joshua he took him
02:21into the promised land but that
02:23inheritance only lasted for so many
02:25generations Jesus and his inheritance is
02:28better then he shifts to the priest he
02:29talks about Melchizedek and Aaron and
02:31the Levites and in every case Jesus is
02:34better with better Covenant and better
02:36sacrifices he's better he's better he's
02:38better and so if you're listening to
02:42uh this form of speech it's not a letter
02:45it's this political uh electoral speech
02:48by the time people are reading this
02:51they're going Jesus Jesus Jesus I mean
02:54the whole point is like every hero of
02:57the past and every category uh
02:59governmental spiritual religious Jesus
03:05and we come to chapter 11
03:08and we know that as a chapter of faith
03:10of course there weren't chapters there
03:12was one continuous story and and it has
03:15all these Grace it talks about Abraham
03:17and Sarah and Rahab and Gideon and David
03:20and Barack and all these amazing people
03:24but the point and we we stopped there
03:27the chapter is over but the message
03:29didn't stop he lists all these people
03:31not for you to look at them as the
03:34people of Faith but to keep reading or
03:37keep listening and in chapter 12 it says
03:41fix your eyes on Jesus they had these
03:44greats had Faith Jesus is the very
03:47definition of Faith he's the beginning
03:48of Faith he's the end of the faith he's
03:50the sum total of Faith he's better than
03:53all of them combined fix your eyes on
03:55Jesus so in chapter 3 verse 1 we have
03:58considered Jesus fix your mind on Jesus
04:01in chapter 12 verse 2 it says fix your
04:04eyes on Jesus so your thoughts and your
04:07focus need to be centered on the person
04:12when we have God as our foundation and
04:15Jesus at the center of all that we are
04:17then we are really positioned to have
04:20really good education
