00:07passages on touch this one is how touch
00:09strengthens relationship it comes from
00:16Jonathan sealed The Pact that he made by
00:18with David by taking off his robe and
00:21giving it to David together with his
00:23tunic sword bow and belt
00:29I wonder what that looked like
00:31there's not a lot of details in
00:32scripture but I'm sure you just didn't
00:34throw these down at David's feet
00:37say take them they're yours
00:41added it to David touched him
00:44they exchanged something that was an
00:46intimate gift giving time
00:49I sometimes Ponder on Genesis 3 after
00:53Adam and Eve's sin it says that God
01:00models what it was necessary to restore
01:04them from sin and sacrifices an animal
01:09and takes the skins and prepares clothes
01:14this must have taken some time and
01:16they're watching him you don't just kill
01:19an animal and in an instant have clothes
01:22and this process would have been
01:25intimate and compelling and and I would
01:27have fashioned it just the right size
01:29for him and for her and and then it says
01:32this amazing thing and he he clothed
01:35them before they left out
01:37God was like the butler
01:40helping them get dressed
01:43before they left the garden can you
01:46imagine the way he touched them the way
01:49he would have done this with tenderness
01:51and love and kindness
01:54I imagine there were lots of Terror
01:55shared she had that day as they realized
01:58what they'd given up through their
02:06we can touch in right ways and we can
02:09touch in wrong ways our different
02:11cultures have different
02:13ideas about touch and what's appropriate
02:16and what's inappropriate
02:18as I've traveled into over 200 nations
02:20of the earth I've learned a lot of
02:22things of what to do and what not to do
02:24why I grew up in South America uh
02:28we're very affectionate people among
02:31Latin Americans and depending on the
02:34country you're in when you get
02:36introduced to someone new you would
02:39extend your hand and and probably uh
02:42touch your cheek with their cheek and
02:45kind of blow a kiss into the air both on
02:48the right side and then on the left side
02:49and some countries you do them on two
02:52sides and other countries you just do it
02:54once and in some countries you do it
02:56with both men and women together or
02:58sometimes you do it just with
03:00when the genders are opposite as it
03:03varies from place to place and if you
03:05know the right way to touch
03:15North America you tend to shake hands
03:18and very close in Europe you shake hands
03:21a little further away and in Asia
03:24touches too too intimate if you just
03:27mean someone so you don't touch it just
03:29bow which is the right way that's not
03:32the correct question they're all right
03:34within their culture they're all
03:36exhibiting different forms of values of
03:38one of honor and respect or one of
03:44and touch the way you touch tells the
03:49other what part of the world you're from
03:50see again the way you touch what is
03:55considered appropriate
03:56is tells you something about the
03:59community you're from it establishes
04:02your identity your cultural values we
04:05need to touch in ways that are
04:07appropriate and avoid inappropriate
