00:44people start a business and get their
00:46product ready but then they don't know
00:48how to sell it because selling products
00:50is very hard and the reason for this is
00:52because there's so many different
00:53Avenues of selling products you can
00:56start a physical store but that comes
00:58with its own challenges of not bre
00:59reaching many people and then you have
01:01to actually do physical advertising you
01:03can choose to start an online store but
01:05then you need to understand how third
01:06party advertising and Google SEO and all
01:09these other things work and not
01:11everybody can pick that up very quickly
01:13so one way to get past all of this is to
01:16sell on a Marketplace so what is a
01:19Marketplace a Marketplace is basically
01:22any place physical or online that
01:24facilitates the exchange of goods
01:26between buyers and sellers now takot is
01:29South Africa's biggest marketplace right
01:31now who knows what could change in the
01:32next few months but right now they are
01:35the biggest so they are the best place
01:37for you to sell your products on if you
01:39want to do Marketplace selling now let's
01:41look at some take out stats they have 14
01:44million active monthly users that is a
01:47lot of people that you can potentially
01:48sell to so I think their organic traffic
01:51is more than enough to suffice any sale
01:55of any product so I think take lot is a
01:58great place to sell products and that is
01:59why why I advocate for it so much so you
02:01got to remember that takot kind of takes
02:03care of everything they advertise your
02:04products they do the deliveries they
02:06deal with the customers they do
02:07basically everything for you and we'll
02:09speak about this a bit later on in the
02:11video but for now all you need to know
02:13is that take a lot is a great side
02:14hustle for you to start and that's why
02:16this entire video is going to show you
02:18exactly how to do that so a common
02:21question that a lot of you have been
02:22asking is what are the fees associated
02:24with take a lot now let's start from the
02:27top the first fee is just being a month
02:30active seller so this is a fee that you
02:31have to pay take lot every single month
02:33to be a seller on their platform and
02:35this fee is 460 R per month after that
02:38they have two specific fees for products
02:41these are fulfillment fees and success
02:42fees now fulfillment fees is the fees
02:45that take or charges you to fulfill your
02:47product so we speaking about fulfillment
02:49later so I'll explain it a bit there but
02:51basically just know that that cost is
02:52about 48 R per product for small
02:55products and then we have the success
02:58fees now the success fees is take are
02:59telling you hey our platform is pretty
03:01good and because you getting sales
03:03through our platform we kind of want to
03:04cut from it so this fee ranges between
03:068% and 15% now the total cost that take
03:09aot kind of takes away from you does
03:11seem a bit high but I think it's
03:13completely worth it because of all of
03:14the organic traffic that is on their
03:16platform technically you're not doing
03:17anything and you can get sales from
03:19doing nothing all you need to do is find
03:22the right product but before we go there
03:24I want to speak to you about another
03:26cost that is involved in take lot and
03:27those are your hidden costs these are
03:29everything that you don't really account
03:30for when you're thinking of your product
03:31and its profitability so always consider
03:34your packaging always consider your time
03:36always consider your Logistics of how
03:39you moving the products around all of
03:41that does need to be taken into
03:42consideration to see if the product that
03:44you're working with is actually
03:45profitable so always take all of this
03:48into account okay so the first step to
03:50you starting your take aot seller
03:52journey is applying to be a seller so
03:55this process is actually really simple
03:57all you really need to have an idea of
03:59is what type of products you're going to
04:01sell that's all you really need to sign
04:02up so all we're going to do is we're
04:04going to head over to take lot's main
04:05website and click sell on take aot so
04:09once we click this button we'll be taken
04:10to this page it kind of explains the
04:12basics of selling on take aot so it's
04:14going to just go through different tools
04:16different they just basically convincing
04:18you to tell you that you should be
04:20selling on take a lot so they tell you
04:22the steps which is the App application
04:24your approval your registration
04:25onboarding sales and your growth it give
04:28a few success stories but let's not
04:30worry about that all we came to do is to
04:32sell so let's apply to sell so here
04:36we're taken to the takot application
04:38page so this is just going to be basic
04:40information that you're going to fill
04:42out your name your email your phone
04:44number um and about your business now if
04:47you do not have a business you can just
04:51come down here and you can put in your
04:55ID number instead of your business
04:57number so please still put in your
04:59business name or what name is going to
05:01be representing your seller account but
05:04at the bottom when you have to put in
05:05your business registration number just
05:07put in your ID number so you don't
05:08really have to start or register a
05:10business to do this I would recommend
05:12you starting off see how take a lot goes
05:14for you and if you make enough money
05:16where you're obliged to pay tax go and
05:18register your business now you don't
05:20have to be vet registered so don't worry
05:22about that either so just onto the
05:23questions but there is one small secret
05:27now for take lot to accept you to be a
05:30seller they need proof of a catalog now
05:32a catalog is just a way of you showing
05:35them that you have products that are
05:37exist in and selling to a dedicated
05:40audience now there are different ways
05:42that you can do this by creating PDF
05:43formats off your catalog or just
05:45different ways of showing them your
05:46products all right guys so if we scroll
05:48through the rest of this application we
05:50see that all the information is pretty
05:51generic um but when it comes to the
05:54about the product section take's going
05:56to be asking you how many Unique
05:58Products you have I would recommend
06:00putting at least 20 and the reason for
06:02this is just so that they see you have a
06:04variety in what you're doing the biggest
06:05thing that you need to remember is that
06:06the amount of unique products that you
06:07stipulate on your application all the
06:09ones that you actually show in your
06:11catalog don't have to be the actual
06:13products that you have to sell on take
06:15out you can literally sell anything once
06:17you get accepted as a seller now even
06:19though most people get accepted as a
06:20seller through that simple catalog
06:22process a few people do get rejected so
06:24now if you're one of those people to get
06:26rejected you need the secret to get in
06:29to take a lot and the secret to always
06:33get accepted on take a lot is revealed

09:02step is finding the perfect product so
09:05what constitutes a perfect product it's
09:07honestly anything you can get your hands
09:09on that is below the price that you can
09:11sell it for and easily available to you
09:14honestly you can find anything as long
09:16as the Price Is Right but if we were to
09:19take that a bit deeper and look at the
09:20two different types of products that we
09:22can sell we first get generic products
09:24and then we get seasonal products now
09:26generic products are products that lost
09:28all year round and that means you can
09:30literally sell it through every part of
09:32the year and still have some consistency
09:34in your sales on the other hand we have
09:36seasonal products now I did touch on
09:38this in our last video but I'm just
09:40going to explain it again these are
09:41Products that come for a specific season
09:43for example in Winter we would sell ice
09:46cream or now that the festive season is
09:48coming on we can sell toys or Christmas
09:50trees or anything of that kind of sort
09:52of nature now in next year in February
09:54Valentine's Day is coming up so maybe we
09:56can sell flowers or chocolates these are
09:58all types of of seasonal products where
10:00if you sell it out of that season you're
10:02not going to really find that much
10:03success in it now that you guys know the
10:05two different types of products you can
10:06sell let me tell you two different ways
10:09in which you can sell these products the
10:11first way is when you just sell them
10:12generically which means when you buy the
10:14product it comes with its own branding
10:16it comes with its own name and its own
10:18labeling and you sell the product as is
10:21so literally you would go buy this
10:23product from China mall or from A
10:24supplier and literally take it put it on
10:26take aot and you're done the next way
10:28you can sell your product is through
10:30white labeling now this is when you
10:31basically take a product and you label
10:34it as your own now please don't do what
10:36I did with this product and just take a
10:38white paper and wrap it around you kind
10:39of need licensing to do that if you're
10:41going to be stealing someone's product
10:43but when I say white labeling I mean you
10:45will be in direct contact with the
10:47factory with the manufacturer or with
10:49with a producer of a product and they
10:52give you the right to use their product
10:54as your own so you would send them your
10:56brand and you would send them everything
10:57you want to be on the product product
10:59and they would make it and label it for
11:00you and send you the product as your own
11:03as your own labeled product so that's
11:05how you kind of create your own brand
11:07now for those of you that actually start
11:08selling this is a great way to avoid
11:10competition because nobody can really
11:12steal your brand now let's move on to
11:14what we call take lot fulfillment so
11:17what is take a lot fulfillment this is
11:19basically the process of us leaving all
11:21the work up to take lot they will take
11:24care of our admin they'll take care of
11:26the customers they'll take care of the
11:28deliveries they'll take have the
11:29packaging basically every single thing
11:32is their Duty so now looking at how we
11:35can sell on take lot they have two
11:37fulfillment methods the first one is in
11:39stock and the other one is lead time so
11:42in stock which is the method I highly
11:43recommend is basically when you buy a
11:46bunch of products and you drop it off at
11:48take lots the warehouse now lead time
11:50however is when you kind of tell take
11:52lot hey I have the products I'm going to
11:54keep them at my place or with my
11:56suppliers and when somebody buys the
11:58product off your your platform I will
12:00then bring the product to you now I
12:02don't really like this method because
12:03there's so much admin involved in this
12:05like I just imagine me going dropping
12:08off a product at take lot after somebody
12:10orders it on my way back home I get
12:12another order now I have to go fetch
12:15one and take it back and on and on and
12:17on and to me just doesn't make sense so
12:19I just prefer taking a bunch of products
12:21leaving it at take a lot and when orders
12:23come through takea does the rest the one
12:25other aspect we got to speak about is
12:27stock splitting now take lot has two
12:30distribution warehouses in South Africa
12:32one is located in Kempton Park and the
12:34other is located in Cape Town now take
12:36lot requires that you split your stock
12:38in a 7030 ratio where you drop most of
12:41your products off at the Campton Park
12:43warehouse and you drop the rest at Cape
12:45Town now let's just say you want to drop
12:47off 10 products at take aot they say
12:49that you should take seven and leave it
12:51at the Johannesburg Warehouse Kempton
12:52Park and you take the other three and
12:55you leave it at the cap Town Warehouse
12:57that's just what they say so guys guys
12:59come here I want to tell you a little
13:00secret take doesn't really check that
13:03I've just been doing it for years where
13:04I've been dropping off my products at
13:06just the Johannesburg Warehouse because
13:07it's close to my home and when I get an
13:09order in the Cape Town Warehouse all kot
13:12does is they take one of my inst stock
13:13products from Johannesburg and ships sit
13:15down for me to Cape Town they do charge
13:1720 R per product for this but I think
13:20it's worth it because I don't get many
13:21orders from Cape Town so guys that's all
13:23you really need to know about the
13:24Fulfillment by take lot but there's one
13:26more thing you have to know if you want
13:28to silent take lot all right guys so on
13:30the real Notes One topic we have to
13:32address is the capital required to start
13:34take lot arguably you can't really start
13:37it with nothing because there are a lot
13:38of fees and products do cost money so
13:41guys what I'm basically trying to tell
13:42you is that the more money you have
13:44dedicated towards your take a lot side
13:46Hustle the easier it is going to be for
13:48you to scale it up to the place where
13:50you want it to be that being said I'm
13:53not saying it's impossible to start take
13:54lot with almost nothing but you have to
13:56have something if you watched my video I
13:58I started off with 300 Rand and that's
14:00the honest truth so start where you can
14:03but grow it as much as you can from that
14:05point onwards just remember when I made
14:07those sales after I put in that 300 Rand
14:10I took all of the money I ever made from
14:11teot and I continually reinvested it as
14:14I continually reinvested it the amount
14:16of capital that I had to buy more
14:18products came through and then I bought
14:20more and more and more and more
14:22eventually I got to the point where I
14:23could buy hundreds of products at a time
14:25and drop it off at take a lot so I
14:27highly recommend that you try and get
14:28yourself in a position where you at
14:30least save a little bit of money start
14:32there and then continually reinvest if
14:34you don't have more monthly income
