00:10child Adolescent and adult psychiatrist

00:13author and Senior fellow at Do no harm I

00:17have been taking care of patients for 45

00:20years

00:22I'm going to use my time to respond to

00:24Dr McNamara

00:26first I'm struck by her use of the

00:28phrase sex assigned at Birth

00:32sex is not assigned at Birth

00:36sex is established at conception and

00:40it's recognized at Birth if not earlier

00:45Dr McNamara claims that her views are

00:47science based but to claim that sex is

00:50assigned at Birth is without any

00:51scientific basis whatsoever its language

00:55misleads people especially children into

00:58thinking that male and female are

01:01arbitrary designations and can change

01:04that is simply not true

01:07Dr McNamara claims that social and

01:10medical interventions are the only

01:12evidence-based treatment and that

01:15scientific evidence shows it is

01:16life-saving without it she's warning us

01:20kids will commit suicide

01:23well a growing number of countries have

01:26effectively banned the care to which

01:29she's referring and thank God there's

01:31been no wave of suicides or other mental

01:34health catastrophes three years ago

01:37Finland placed strict Limitations on

01:40medical interventions for minors Sweden

01:43did the same thing after a 14 year old

01:46girl was found to have osteoporosis and

01:48spinal fractures from puberty blockers

01:51an investigation concluded quote the

01:55risks of anti-puberty uh and hormone

01:58treatment for those under 18 currently

02:01outweigh the possible benefits the UK

02:05conducted a review and called the

02:07evidence very low they've also placed

02:10severe restrictions on the care that Dr

02:13McNamara calls life-saving Norway also

02:17analyzed the data and has made similar

02:19changes in policy the National Academy

02:22of Medicine in France warned quote great

02:25medical caution must be taken in

02:27children adolescence given the

02:29vulnerability of this population and the

02:32many undesirable even serious

02:34complications the therapies cause

02:36doctors in New Zealand and Australia

02:39have published similar statements is Dr

02:42McNamara suggesting that all these

02:45countries are rejecting

02:47evidence-based treatment and placing

02:50their kids at risk of suicide

02:53regarding that point of view finland's

02:56gender expert Dr Rita caltiela said

03:04spreading of which is irresponsible

03:08all seven countries and Florida too of

03:10course concluded that kids don't need

03:13their development interrupted the girls

03:16don't need their periods stopped and

03:19their voices lowered and the boys don't

03:22need to grow breasts

03:24what they need

03:26is psychotherapy

03:29I have other objections to Dr McNamara's

03:31testimony she insists that her position

03:34only hers represents standard medical

03:37care what she doesn't want you to know

03:39is that there is no standard there's a

03:42debate there's a fierce debate and on

03:46the side opposite her stands such

03:49prominent figures as Stephen Levine

03:51Kenneth Zucker Paul McHugh and James

03:53Cantor among others these doctors are

03:57giants

03:58in the field they have been treating

04:01transgender patients and Gathering data

04:03and Publishing papers about them and I

04:06mean no disrespect here but since before

04:08Dr McNamara was born

04:12the point is that those veteran

04:14clinicians and others who have wisdom

04:16and experience are ignored because they

04:19disagree with the current narrative

04:21they're against medical interventions

04:24for the same reason those seven

04:26countries are there is no evidence of

04:30long-term benefit but there is evidence

04:33of harm

04:34I'll end by quoting Jamie Reed the

04:37courageous whistleblower from the

04:39children's gender clinic in St Louis I

04:42believe that that hospital receives the

04:44medical education funding that we're

04:45discussing today

04:47she said that doctors at that clinic

04:49said

04:50we are building the plane while we are

04:54flying it

05:04treatment at their gender Clinic our

05:06precious tax dollars should not support

05:09such a perilous experiment
