00:01When people talk about problems,
I say to people, yes,
00:05it's easy to say we don't have
infrastructure in Africa.
00:10For me, this is a way of life for me.
00:13All my life, the road has always been bad.
00:16This is the world I know.
00:17I try not to complain about it,
I tried to solve it.
00:32My name is Afolabi Abiodun.
00:34I'm the CEO of SB Telecoms and Devices.
00:36Well, our term solution today is
solutions that small medium enterprise
00:41work with to manage their operations and
human resource from recruitment,
00:46to retirement, from hire to fire.
00:50It's simple to use human
resource application.
00:53I became an entrepreneur because
lately after school looking for
00:57a job was not an option for me.
00:59So I started my small business
of making phone calls and
01:02retailing reach out card,
I got a small space in major road.
01:07So what I do in the evening,
after the sales I made in the morning,
01:10I would go on the road, and
try to wave cars down and sell to them.
01:15I really didn't have any
corporate background,
01:17I'm coming from the streets
to start my business.
01:22I got literally everything wrong, so
I learned my lesson the hard way.
01:28In 2005, when I had incurred that
debt of a hundred thousand dollars,
01:33I actually ran away from home, okay?
01:35Cause it was actually my grandmom's
property, I was use as collateral for
01:40Banking officer, they went straight
to my grandmother and told her.
01:43Your property will be sold, so
start preparing, pack your bag and
01:47baggages, we need to evict you.
01:51So that for me has actually been one of
the things that keeps me going every day,
01:57I really need to make her proud,
pay off the debts which I have and
02:03do several other things for myself and
my family and my community.
02:08In high school they said, after graduation
100% of you would get employment and
02:1360% most likely will not.
02:15I really didn't want to
be part of the problem
02:18that government would need to solve.
02:20I used my own problem
to create a solution.
02:23We need to build successful businesses
that would help eradicate poverty.
02:27I have taken upon myself, we're doing
that already, reorientating Africa and
02:32in the process of solving the problem,
I'm making myself comfortable,
02:36I'm making my family comfortable,
and that's the reason why
02:39President Barack Obama would want
to meet a special guy like me.
02:46So now, the boy from the street
invited to the White House for
02:51Global Entrepreneurship Summit.
02:54It goes beyond myself,
02:56I get passion from seeing problems
getting solved as expected.
03:02And that makes me happy.
03:04No matter how smart you are,
no matter where you came from,
03:07you actually can be anything
that you hope to become.
