00:00so I remember a few years back I was
00:02looking to transcribe a few of my
00:05YouTube videos into a blog post right I
00:08wanted to have some sort of script for
00:09the YouTube videos that I could upload
00:11to the YouTube video so that people
00:13could you know read the correct thing
00:14and then also I was going to upload it
00:16as a blog post as well and so I looked
00:18at a bunch of different sites out there
00:19and most of them honestly were really
00:21bad especially the ones that were cheap
00:23and I realized there really is a lot of
00:25value to finding a good transcriptionist
00:27and then I looked into it a little bit
00:29further and I saw that there were a lot
00:31of transcriptionist Freelancers out
00:32there that make really good money so for
00:35instance if you look on Glassdoor you're
00:36going to see transcriptionists make
00:37sixty seven thousand dollars a year if
00:40you look on upwork you're going to see
00:41that a lot of transcriptionists make
00:42over sixty dollars an hour like Charlene
00:45who's earned over seven thousand dollars
00:47and Javier who's earned over a hundred
00:49thousand and keep in mind sixty three
00:51dollars an hour in Colombia is like 500
00:53an hour in the United States but another
00:55great thing about being a
00:57transcriptionist is the fact that you
00:59can get paid right away typically all
01:02these different transcription websites
01:03will pay you at the end of the week or
01:05in some cases at the end of two weeks so
01:07if you're somebody who needs money right
01:09now transcriptionist is not something
01:10you have to go to college for or get a
01:12lot of training for you can sign up to
01:14one of these websites and a lot of the
01:15time you'll get money within a week and
01:17then once you have some experience with
01:18the different transcription websites you
01:20can become a freelancer and make even
01:22more money but I'll be honest with you a
01:24lot of these different websites don't
01:25provide high quality products and they
01:27also don't pay their writers very well
01:30and so I did a ton of research and I
01:31figured out which ones were the best and
01:34number five on the list is going to be
01:36three play media so on three play media
01:39you can make about 10 to 30 dollars an
01:41hour so you do have to be able to type
01:4375 words per minute and you can get paid
01:46extra if you're bilingual so if you're
01:48somebody who speaks English and Spanish
01:49for instance and there is a training
01:51with a test that you have to do in order
01:53to get accepted but with that being said
01:55this is a really good one to start off
01:56with and typically they're going to hire
01:58you on a project based basis so some big
02:00project will pop up and you'll have a
02:02lot of work and then other times of the
02:03year where it's a little more quiet you
02:05might not have nearly as much and that's
02:07why a lot of different transcriptionists
02:08will actually work for multiple
02:10different companies number four on the
02:12list is going to be ubiquitous so this
02:14one is especially good if you are a U.S
02:17resident and the reason for that is
02:19because ubiquitous only hires people
02:21from the US now most of my audience is
02:23from the US so you're probably in luck
02:25if you're watching this but the great
02:27thing about that is it gives you a
02:28competitive Advantage because a lot of
02:30these other websites will hire people
02:32from outside of the U.S you do have to
02:34have a computer of course you have to be
02:35able to supply your own cell phone as
02:37well as Internet connection now this is
02:40going to be the least high paying one on
02:42the list typically they make about seven
02:44to fourteen dollars an hour but it is a
02:46really good option if you need to just
02:48get a job right away the next one on the
02:50list is going to be transcription Divas
02:52now this is one that does have very high
02:55standards so you do have to be pretty
02:56good at transcription in order to get a
02:58job with them but with that being said
02:59said they pay anywhere from 12 to 45
03:02dollars an hour and if you type really
03:05fast you can even do higher than that
03:06and this is one where they are going to
03:08interview and they will actually test
03:10you during the interview itself so
03:12they'll basically you know you'll be on
03:13a phone call with them and you'll have
03:14to transcribe in live time the next one
03:17on the list is going to be averback
03:19transcription now this is one that does
03:21require you to have a little bit of
03:23experience but with that being said if
03:25you're good you're good right if they
03:27get on the phone with you and you're
03:28able to do the work they're probably
03:29going to hire you so you basically have
03:31to pass a skills test where you're going
03:33to transcribe five minutes of audio and
03:35you have to be able to do it within 25
03:37minutes that's actually not as stringent
03:39as some of the other companies on the
03:41list so they're actually pretty
03:42reasonable but with that being said you
03:43do have to have a high level of accuracy
03:45and you can't really mess up all that
03:47off and you can expect to make about 20
03:48to 30 dollars an hour as a
03:50transcriptionist working for them and
03:52I'll be honest with you there really is
03:53a ceiling on how much you can make as a
03:55transcriptionist like if you're super
03:57fast you might make like forty to fifty
03:59dollars an hour hour but it is kind of
04:01mind-numbing work and you get to a
04:03certain point where you can't get that
04:04much better like maybe you could get
04:06five percent better at best but you're
04:08not going to be able to like double or
04:10triple your income so this is one of
04:11those things where if you need the money
04:13right now you need it really quickly you
04:14can get into this type of career but I
04:16really recommend getting into a career
04:18where there's a lot more vertical and
04:20horizontal opportunity like digital
04:22marketing I've talked about digital
04:24marketing quite a few times on my
04:25channel there's a 16 year old for
04:27instance that I interviewed that was
04:28able to get into digital marketing and
04:30if you want to learn more about it there
04:31is a really good free master class that
04:33I highly recommend that you check out
04:35I'll put that down in the description as
04:36well as the pinned comment the number
04:38one company to work for on this list is
04:41going to be escribers so the reason that
04:44escribers is so lucrative is because
04:46it's technically a legal transcription
04:48business right so you're going to be
04:50transcribing a lot of legal documents
04:52but really they don't care if you have
04:53legal experience or not they just want
04:55to make sure that you're very accurate
04:57and good and when it comes to Legal
04:59concerns a lot of the times these things
05:01have to be transcribed really fast and
05:03so they really prefer to have a bunch of
05:05different people who are sort of on deck
05:07on call waiting to get jobs but they
05:10typically pay really well like a lot of
05:12the time you're going to be making at
05:14least 20 to 30 dollars an hour and this
05:17is one of the ones that's easier to get
05:18into so like I said uh transcription can
05:21be a really good one it's super super
05:23easy to get into it doesn't really
05:25require that much skill or experience
05:27but with that being said this is kind of
05:29a dead end job and a dead-end skill you
05:32sort of reach a point where you're
05:34pretty much as good as you can get when
05:35it comes to typing and after that you're
05:37not going to learn all that much from it
05:39so I highly recommend doing something
05:41like digital marketing where you're
05:42learning valuable skills and there's so
05:44many different directions you can go and
05:46so much opportunity check out that
05:47interview with the 16 year old who is
05:49able to make forty thousand dollars a
