00:00the best careers for introverts this is
00:03what we're going to be talking about
00:04today but before we do that
00:05make sure to gently tap the like button
00:07in order to defeat the evil youtube
00:09on this channel we talk about personal
00:11finance college degrees and career
00:12opportunities that will lead you to
00:14and we also talk about avoiding the
00:16common financial traps that so many
00:18people fall for if that sounds like
00:20something that interests you then go
00:21ahead and hit the subscribe button ring
00:23the notification bell
00:24in order to see more content just like
00:26this now let's jump right into it with
00:28the first one on the list it's going to
00:29be number 10 which is
00:31entrepreneur now i have something to
00:33admit to you guys okay
00:36i put this one as number one for the
00:38best careers for extroverts
00:40and i realized that i did a disservice
00:42to my introvert homies out there because
00:44i realize that introverts can do cool
00:46too okay i'm an introvert and i'm living
00:49proof that you can grow a tiny
00:51youtube channel as an introvert that's
00:54right first one on the list i've got two
01:00now this one was the top career for the
01:02list of the best careers for extroverts
01:04and i was thinking of myself i don't
01:05want to put the same career
01:07on both lists but there's some types of
01:09careers sometimes the jobs out there
01:10where they're so vast like there's so
01:13many different examples of things you
01:15that they really do fall under both
01:17categories and entrepreneurship
01:19is one of them it really depends on what
01:22industry that you're trying to go into
01:24and actually i think that introverts
01:25have a lot of advantages over extroverts
01:27when it comes to entrepreneurship
01:29in some ways first of all as glamorous
01:31as movies and pop culture tries to make
01:34the reality of it is a lot of it is just
01:37going to be endless hours of grinding so
01:39let's see what the internet's favorite
01:41meme lord slash super entrepreneur
01:43elon musk has to say about being an
01:45entrepreneur it's like eating glass and
01:46stirring into your best
01:47the truth is introverts get energized by
01:51and extroverts get energized by being
01:53around other people that's the main
01:54distinction between the two
01:56extroverts tend to get lonely much more
01:57easily and that's not as much of an
01:59issue for introverts so the endless
02:01hours of grinding that it takes to both
02:03start as well as run a business
02:05which much of the time businesses are
02:07started by just one person so you're
02:08just going to be working alone a lot of
02:11is not going to be nearly as bad for an
02:12introvert as it is for an extrovert
02:14the only thing i grind is my workload on
02:16top of that they can hyper focus for
02:17extended periods of time just because of
02:19the fact that they don't have to be
02:20around other people the grind
02:22is real elon musk has a mbti or
02:24myers-briggs personality test of intj
02:27which means he is an introvert now i
02:29think introverts can do really well as
02:31especially if they're starting a
02:32business in the right industry and that
02:34my friends is how you become a
02:36entrepreneur so number nine on the list
02:39is going to be a marketer
02:40marketers are going to be someone who
02:42advertise or promote a product to a
02:46and they make around 63 000 a year
02:50000 jobs available and it's growing at
02:5118 which is very good
02:53so marketers are going to use a lot of
02:55the same skills that you would use as a
02:57salesman but you're going to do it on
02:59and scalable level so a salesman for
03:02instance can only make so many sales in
03:04i mean you can only talk to so many
03:05people in a single day but as a marketer
03:07you can write ad copy or you could make
03:10that millions and millions of people
03:12could see if you have the ad budget for
03:14it's pretty much unlimited now a lot of
03:16marketers are gonna start off as
03:18salespeople and then they're gonna move
03:19into marketing later on in their career
03:21now again you don't have to be an
03:23introvert to be a good marketer
03:25but i have noticed that many marketers
03:27that are really good are
03:28introverts now i know some people in the
03:30comments are going to be like
03:32shane introverts can be great salesmen
03:34too why are you saying this
03:36i know i know i know okay i'm an
03:39i've done sales since i was a teenager
03:41and i was pretty decent at it you can
03:43definitely be a successful salesman as
03:44an introvert in fact i think there's
03:46types of sales jobs that introverts
03:48might even do better in but just
03:50generally speaking one thing that i've
03:52noticed is a lot of the top
03:54salesmen out there tend to be extroverts
03:56and a lot of the top marketers out there
03:58tend to be a little bit more on the
04:00introverted side marketers are a little
04:01bit more focused on the numbers and
04:03making small changes here and there
04:05and generally speaking they're gonna
04:06spend less time around
04:08people that they don't know but that's
04:10just my opinion number eight on the list
04:12is going to be medical doctors and yes
04:14this is another one where i included it
04:16on the list of the best careers for
04:19there are so many different types of
04:21specialties that you can go into if you
04:22become a physician or a medical doctor
04:25and there are specialties out there that
04:26are going to be a little bit better for
04:27extroverts and some are going to be a
04:29little bit better for
04:30introverts so physicians according to
04:33over 208 000 a year which is kind of
04:37there's tons of jobs available it's
04:38growing pretty fast physician overall is
04:40a pretty good career i made a whole
04:42video about it where i talked about how
04:43i think it's a little bit overrated but
04:45if you know what you're getting yourself
04:47into it can be a really good career
04:49now some of the specialties that do
04:50really well for people who are
04:52are going to be things like radiologists
04:56pathologist anesthesiologist would be a
04:59and actually some types of surgeons do
05:01pretty well as introverts as well
05:03so for instance let's talk about the
05:06a surgeon will make around 395 000 a
05:09but it really depends on what specialty
05:11you do it ranges all the way
05:13generally speaking from like a hundred
05:14and eighty thousand dollars a year
05:16to some specialties make around six
05:18hundred thousand plus dollars every
05:20as a medical doctor and again it depends
05:22on which specialty you do
05:24what residencies you do etc a lot of the
05:26time psychiatrists are very
05:29they're introverted they have good
05:30people skills but generally speaking
05:32that's on a one-on-one level
05:34or maybe you know them talking to two
05:37they're not going to be having to talk
05:38to like an entire group of people
05:40usually same with pathologists of course
05:43they study different diseases and
05:44injuries and when somebody dies they're
05:46the ones who generally will do the
05:48so i just wanted to put this one in
05:50there just because of the fact that i
05:52realized that you know doctors a lot of
05:54the time they have to be extroverted
05:55just because they're constantly
05:58with different people they're constantly
06:00going to be meeting new people
06:01but there are some types of physician
06:03specialties where you don't really have
06:04to be all that extroverted
06:06you're going to be around the same
06:07people every day you're not going to
06:08have to meet new people all the time
06:10it's not going to be draining your
06:11energy like crazy number seven on the
06:14actuary so generally speaking actuaries
06:17will take a bunch of numbers and
06:19analyze them in order to determine the
06:21risk as well as the premiums for
06:23insurance according to bls actuaries
06:25make around a hundred and eight thousand
06:27dollars a year there's 27
06:28000 jobs available and the job outlook
06:32which is really really good so actuary
06:34is a career where you're likely gonna
06:36either work for an insurance company
06:39or the second really common path is
06:41you're gonna work as a consultant
06:42with an insurance company you'll make
06:44pretty good money you're gonna have
06:45pretty good job satisfaction
06:47now one thing about being an actuary is
06:49there is a ton of tests that you have to
06:51take and most of the time when you pass
06:52those tests you're going to be making a
06:53little bit more money so
06:55that's a good thing in some ways but
06:57these tests are actually
06:58extremely difficult over 50 percent of
07:01the people who take them generally do
07:03so they're designed to be unbelievably
07:05difficult and it seems like there's just
07:07an endless amount of tests that you have
07:09so it's almost like going back to school
07:11all over again you're going to have your
07:13you know 40 hours a week job and then
07:15you're going to be studying for these
07:17constantly that's great if you're
07:18somebody that constantly wants to be
07:20learning and you really like studying
07:22but it can be really annoying for
07:24somebody who kind of just wants to live
07:26consulting on the other hand is more
07:28about knowing what you're doing in a
07:30niche subject this one is going to be a
07:32little bit more social so might not be
07:34as good for introverts you're going to
07:35be interacting with a ton of people
07:37you're going to be talking to clients
07:38but basically what you are is a
07:40knowledge salesman that's just the
07:42easiest way to put it your clients are
07:44generally going to be people from really
07:45big companies who have a lot of money
07:47and they want you to solve a very
07:49specific problem for them or they want
07:51you to analyze some data or present data
07:53that you already have for them
07:54number six on the list is going to be
07:56software development
07:58hmm this one keeps on popping up on like
08:01also known as a coder this is going to
08:03be someone who's going to create
08:05software for computers now software
08:07developers on average according to bls
08:09are going to make 107 000
08:11a year there's 1.4 million jobs
08:14and it's growing at 22 which is insane
08:18this is one of the best possible careers
08:20out there and i can only see it getting
08:22better in the future there's no way this
08:24one's going to be automated in fact
08:26you're going to be the person who's
08:28this is one of my highest recommended
08:29careers whether you're going at it from
08:31the aspect of getting a college degree
08:33like a computer science degree and then
08:35going into software development or if
08:37you're somebody who maybe got a degree
08:39that is like math related or something
08:41like that and you're not really liking
08:42your job you can move into software
08:44development or if you're somebody who
08:45has no experience at all you can still
08:47learn this stuff and then you know get
08:49an entry-level job work your way up
08:50pretty much no matter what position
08:52you're in this is a really good
08:54career to get into now software
08:55developers of course are going to sit in
08:57front of their computers for many many
08:59many of them will have limited contact
09:01with other people throughout the day and
09:03generally you're going to talk with your
09:05an app like slack or something along
09:07those lines and the people that you do
09:09are probably going to be people that you
09:10interact with all the time so you're not
09:12going to have to go and meet new people
09:14you know every single day it'll be a
09:16pretty rare occurrence
09:17and many of them especially nowadays
09:19with the current pandemic that's
09:22do a lot of remote coding and so they
09:24don't even have to go into an office
09:26they're basically just coding from home
09:28sure many of them will be working in an
09:29office setting where maybe you're around
09:31other people quite a bit
09:33but they're not going to have to be like
09:34a salesman for instance where you're
09:36constantly meeting new people
09:37i don't know about you guys but for me
09:39as an introvert spending time around
09:41people that i already know really well
09:43doesn't suck up as much of my energy as
09:46when i have to go and meet a bunch of
09:47new people that's what
09:48really makes me tired now one thing
09:50about introverts is a lot of the time
09:52they're actually really good at
09:54just they don't want to have to do it
09:56face to face they prefer to do it at a
09:58and then another thing that i've noticed
10:00is people who are introverted don't
10:01necessarily have to have as much
10:03human contact because of the fact that
10:05they get energy just by being alone
10:07and so they're a little bit better in
10:09many cases at just grinding away for
10:12you know doing something like a coding
10:14bench number five on the list is going
10:16truck drivers so this is a person who
10:20driving trucks and this could be all
10:21kinds of different trucks but a lot of
10:22the time it's going to be semis
10:24now this is a job where you can do a lot
10:26of different things you know some people
10:27are going to be driving
10:28huge loads all the way across the
10:30country others are just going to be
10:31driving the trucks around locally so
10:33that they can get home to their families
10:35some own their own truck and they're
10:37basically like contractors they tend to
10:38make a little bit more money
10:40others are going to work for a big
10:41company who already has trucks
10:43there's a ton of different variations
10:44here but in my opinion this is one of
10:46the better careers that you can get into
10:48with very little training now according
10:52the average truck driver is going to
10:55a year there's two million jobs
10:57available and it's growing at two
10:58percent which is a little bit slower
11:00than average now i happen to think that
11:01these numbers are pretty low just
11:02because of the fact that a lot of
11:04drivers just do part-time you know
11:05they'll do it during part of the year
11:07and then the other part of the year they
11:09i'm not sure how they did their
11:10methodology on this but just from
11:13knowing people who drive trucks we're
11:15talking like the big semis
11:17they make a lot more than 45 000 a year
11:19now the cool thing about driving a truck
11:22is you can basically get trained in like
11:24a month or two and you're good to go
11:26now like i said before there's tons of
11:28different types of trucks out there
11:29you've got dry van refrigerator van
11:32tankers that hold gas flatbed
11:34dump truck drivers there's all kinds of
11:36different options out there and the pay
11:37is going to vary based on which one you
11:39now in order to make really good money
11:41as a truck driver and this is similar to
11:43any career out there you look at doctors
11:45for instance you look at pharmacists you
11:47look at engineers business people
11:49just about any career out there in order
11:51to make more money you want to
11:52specialize in something okay specialists
11:55tend to make more money
11:56they tend to have better job
11:58satisfaction and just be overall happier
12:00than generalists now one thing about
12:02truck driving that really isn't
12:04mentioned all that much
12:05is it can be especially good for you if
12:07you're young and single now of course
12:09the obvious reason for this is that
12:11if you have a family and you're truck
12:12driving all the way across the country
12:14you're probably not going to be able to
12:16but a not so obvious reason is the fact
12:18that if you're not living with anyone
12:21single you can actually just live in the
12:23truck you don't necessarily have to pay
12:26you can just live in the truck that's a
12:28huge cost savings because
12:30rent and vehicle expenses are generally
12:32going to be your two
12:33biggest expenses in your life so if
12:35you're young you don't have too many
12:37obligations what you can do is you can
12:38become a truck driver specialize in
12:40and you can be making over 80 000 a year
12:43just a few years after high school
12:45and that's 80 000 that you can pretty
12:47much just bank you don't have to worry
12:49about paying a thousand dollars for rent
12:51or three hundred dollars a month on a
12:53you get to bank most of that money this
12:55is a great career for introverts as well
12:57just because of the fact that you're
12:58probably going to be spending a lot of
13:00just by yourself driving down the
13:02highway number four on the list is going
13:04it manager so it managers are going to
13:07take care of all the information
13:08technology needs within a business
13:11so one career they could get into would
13:13be a computer and information systems
13:15manager they make around 146 000
13:17a year there's 461 000 jobs available
13:20and it's growing at 10
13:21which is really good so i talked about
13:23in the extrovert video how becoming a
13:26is going to be a great position for
13:28extroverts to get into and i realized
13:29that again that's not really fair
13:31because in many cases introverts can
13:33make good managers as well
13:34sure i think most managers are going to
13:36be more on the extroverted side
13:38this is a good example of a position
13:39where you can be an introvert and
13:41be a very effective manager as well a
13:43lot of it guys are going to spend most
13:45of the day working with technology
13:47they're not going to have too much human
13:48interaction they'll probably interact
13:50with the other it guys
13:52they're going to answer the phone once
13:53in a while but they're not going to be
13:55all the time it managers are going to
13:57have a little bit more human interaction
13:59than your average it guy
14:01however the most important thing about
14:03being an i.t manager
14:05is your technical expertise now i'm not
14:07going to sugarcoat it you're probably
14:08going to be working around a bunch of
14:10geeks which creates its own challenges
14:12but overall geeks aren't that hard to
14:14work with if you know what you're doing
14:15too much communication is generally not
14:17going to be that much of a problem
14:19if anything you'll want to encourage
14:21them to communicate more
14:22number three on the list is going to be
14:25accountants are going to be the people
14:27that prepare and examine all kinds of
14:29financial records anywhere from taxes to
14:32basically just running the books on a
14:34now according to bls accountants and
14:36auditors make around 71
14:38000 a year there's 1.4 million
14:41jobs available and it's growing at
14:43percent which is about average
14:44now this is a very common job out there
14:46and because of that there's going to be
14:48a ton of different types of accountants
14:50now with most accounting jobs there's
14:52obviously going to be a lot of number
14:54and when most people think of accounting
14:56they probably think of excel sheets and
14:59but there's actually a lot more to it
15:00than that there's a ton of different
15:02specialties within accounting and
15:03there's jobs out there for accountants
15:05in just about every industry
15:07and every business basically everywhere
15:09you look there's going to be jobs for
15:11so if you go into accounting you get
15:13tired of staring at an excel sheet
15:15you can do a ton of different things in
15:18professions like this where there's a
15:20ton of different options out there
15:22i tend to like these just because of the
15:24fact that like let's say
15:26you made a really good plan you knew
15:27what you were getting into
15:29but then you know you get a few years
15:31into it and you're like you know what
15:32i don't really like this that much i
15:34thought i was gonna like it but for some
15:36reason it's just not for me
15:37well if you're an accountant for
15:39instance there are so many different
15:41options that you can go into now a lot
15:42of accountants will start off working
15:43for one of the big four accounting firms
15:45and they're going to specialize in
15:46something and move towards that another
15:48great thing about accounting is it's
15:50so let's say that you want to move up
15:52the chain in a company you want to try
15:55well guess what there's a lot of
15:57examples of accountants that move all
15:59the way up to executive positions
16:01accounting is also one of the degrees
16:02that has created the most millionaires i
16:04did the video where i talked about
16:05careers and degrees that create the most
16:08millionaires or lead to people becoming
16:10millionaires accounting was one of the
16:11highest ones on that list
16:13if you go the tax route for instance a
16:14lot of the time accounting will be very
16:17where you're going to be extremely busy
16:18six months out of the year and then the
16:20other six months aren't going to be that
16:22let's say you absolutely hate number
16:24crunching you never want to look at an
16:26you never want to look at taxes again
16:28guess what you can move into becoming
16:30like a recruiter or something like that
16:32just because of the fact
16:33that there's so many people out there
16:36you could go to one of the big four
16:37firms and you could become an accountant
16:40i think you guys get the idea a very
16:42flexible career it doesn't matter
16:43whether you're an introvert an extrovert
16:45you're gonna find something within the
16:46career that works for you
16:48number two on the list is going to be
16:51now this is one that a lot of people in
16:53my comments section always talk about
16:55they wanted me to talk about data
16:56scientists more and i'll probably make
16:58an entire video on it at some point in
17:00the future so basically what data
17:03in layman's terms is they get a bunch of
17:06data and they sort that data out and
17:08make something useful out of it they can
17:10use that data in such a way that they
17:12will help businesses
17:13to make good business decisions that
17:15will lead to them being more successful
17:17and making more money
17:18so one example of a data scientist
17:20related career that you could go into
17:22would be a computer and information
17:23research scientist they make around 122
17:26thousand dollars a year there's 32 000
17:28jobs available and it's growing at 15
17:30which is much faster than average so
17:32data science is very similar to software
17:34development but there's going to be more
17:37on business as well as math and
17:39statistics this is usually going to be
17:40data that has something to do with
17:42either sales or marketing this is
17:44another subject another career that
17:45combines business skills with technology
17:47skills which is always a killer
17:50now number one on the list and this is a
17:53relatively new development since this
17:55amazing pandemic that we're all
17:58experiencing right now number one
18:01is going to be the remote version of
18:04job with the current situation that's
18:06happening right now throughout the
18:09it's become more and more obvious that a
18:11lot of people can do
18:12the same job that they used to do in the
18:16for this reason i predict that even
18:18after the pandemic is open
18:19it's going to be more and more common to
18:21see people doing their jobs that they
18:23used to do in the office
18:24remotely now some of them will do the
18:26job completely remotely like they'll
18:28pretty much never go into the office you
18:30can basically like travel around the
18:32others will do it partially remotely
18:34where maybe you go into the office
18:36two three days a week and then you're at
18:38home two or three days a week now you'd
18:40be really surprised at how many
18:41different remote opportunities are out
18:43there especially after all this stuff
18:45you might think that there's no way my
18:48current job can be done remotely so
18:50pharmacy for instance i'm a pharmacist
18:52what people picture in their head like
18:54the average person when they see a
18:56is someone who is in a grocery store who
18:58gives them their antibiotics
19:00no way they could do that remotely right
19:01they have to be there to counsel the
19:03patient they've got to
19:04make sure that the right stuff is in the
19:05bottle and all that right actually there
19:07are a ton of opportunities to work
19:09remotely in pharmacy
19:10the clinical and the data verification
19:13side of pharmacy can actually be done
19:15and that's in retail of course but also
19:18and different clinical settings so sure
19:20you'd probably have to change up your
19:23you might be able to do a slightly
19:25different career within the same company
19:27or maybe you have to move to a slightly
19:31something along those lines within the
19:32same company or maybe within the same
19:34but the big point here is there are a
19:36lot of opportunities for remote jobs
19:39and i think it's going to be even more
19:40common in the future
