00:00what's happening guys today we're going
00:01to be going over the
00:03master's degree tier list and i made one
00:06like this last year in 2020
00:08a lot of things have happened since then
00:09and so i'm redoing the list i'm adding a
00:12and i'm also going to be changing up
00:14some of the rankings based on what has
00:16happened in the world now this is a
00:17highly requested video and i'm basically
00:20just going to jump right into it
00:22obviously you know tap the like button
00:24hit the subscribe button ring the
00:25notification bell blah blah blah blah
00:27and let's get into it okay so first one
00:29on the list is going to be
00:30acupuncturist okay so there's several
00:32different degrees out there that kind of
00:34fall under this category
00:36uh it's kind of like eastern medicine
00:40you know natural medicine naturopath all
00:43of those sorts of things
00:44not a lot of jobs out there for
00:46acupuncturists and you know natural
00:49the jobs that are out there usually
00:51don't pay very well in terms of the
00:53debt to income ratio which is very
00:55important for you to look at especially
00:57if you're evaluating
00:58degrees where you have to take out what
01:00are known as grad plus loans which is
01:02most of the graduate level degrees
01:04the debt to income ratio is really
01:06really bad it's about 4.6 to
01:091 and that is the worst on the entire
01:12list right so this one is
01:15just not very good um acupuncturist is
01:19f tier and by the way guys f tier is the
01:22s tier is the best i do get that common
01:26so you know the ones that are in the
01:27bottom or the worst the ones that are on
01:29are the best next we're going to be
01:30talking about art related master's
01:32degrees so this is where you would go to
01:33a school and get a master's level degree
01:36in some type of art maybe you go to
01:38juilliard study piano
01:40or you know you get some kind of uh
01:42degree in painting maybe graphic design
01:46there are a very rare subset of people
01:49out there where this is going to be
01:52if you're someone who has just
01:55when it comes to art uh this can be a
01:57good opportunity for you
01:59for instance let's say you're you know
02:00really good at playing classical guitar
02:03and you get an opportunity to go to
02:04juilliard school of music
02:06uh to you know practice with some of the
02:08best classical guitarists in the world
02:11then yes okay go ahead and take that
02:13opportunity i saw my shot
02:15and i took it that's gonna apply to like
02:19of people out there though for most
02:21people when it comes to
02:23you know making money from art a lot of
02:25the time it's not an
02:26employable skill now what do i mean by
02:30i mean that it's a skill that is very
02:32easily going to get you a
02:34job that does not mean that it isn't a
02:37art obviously enhances the lives of many
02:40people throughout the world
02:42and so it is a valuable skill it's just
02:45so what you need to do is figure out an
02:47alternative way to make money from it
02:49and in my opinion the smartest way for
02:51you to do that is to just simply
02:53go off on your own and start your own
02:55business i think it would be much
02:56smarter for you to spend the you know
02:58about six years or so it would take for
03:00you to get your master's
03:02uh just move to a city that has like a
03:06make friends with a bunch of people who
03:07are also into whatever art you're into
03:10and then just practice with them you
03:12might even be able to find someone who's
03:13extremely good who you can hire at a low
03:15price or maybe make them your mentor i
03:17think you'll learn a heck of a lot more
03:21and it'll cost a lot less than going to
03:24art school that's on average though
03:25like i said there are exceptions um so
03:28for this one i'm also going to be
03:30f ftier next one on the list is going to
03:34professor now if you are able to get a
03:37as a college professor which is a little
03:39bit difficult to do with just a master's
03:42level degree but sometimes you can get
03:44as a college professor you know like a
03:46community college for instance with just
03:49this is a pretty sweet job okay
03:52a lot of people want to become college
03:54professors especially
03:55in certain types of degrees and not a
03:58lot of them get to actually do
04:00it very very competitive especially
04:02depending on what degree you're going
04:04usually the ones that are the most
04:06competitive are also the ones where it's
04:09jobs in and that's just simply because
04:11of supply and demand if there's a bunch
04:13of people graduating with a degree
04:15there's going to be a lot of saturation
04:16a lot of people are going to go on they
04:18can't find a job so what do they do they
04:21and they try to become a professor but
04:23with that being said
04:24if you're able to become a professor
04:26this is a super sweet gig
04:29fantastic i'm going to go ahead and put
04:32b tier next on the list is going to be
04:34data science and the reason i included
04:37is generally speaking if you want to
04:39become a data scientist
04:42you are going to need to get a master's
04:44level degree now i know a lot of people
04:46out there would disagree with me
04:47a lot of the time in the tech industry
04:51very into teaching themselves or
04:53learning and in ways that are
04:55alternative to traditional college
04:57and there are some people out there that
04:58absolutely can do that
05:00without a doubt but for the average
05:02person you are going to want to get a
05:04master's degree in data science if you
05:06want to become a data scientist
05:08but data science is one of the hottest
05:10skills that you can possibly learn
05:12this one without a doubt is going to be
05:15one of the best careers you can go into
05:17in the next 10 to 20 years
05:19everything is moving towards you know
05:20information data science
05:23you know data itself is more valuable
05:26oil now so this one is definitely going
05:30s tier and for some reason i took two
05:32pictures of that one so i'm going to put
05:33in there twice just for good measure
05:35next on the list is going to be a
05:38business administration now this one
05:42can be really good um it is on the list
05:44of the degrees that create the most
05:47a lot of people who end up becoming ceos
05:50or executives do get mbas
05:52however i think this is one of those
05:54degrees that has been
05:55cheapened quite a bit in the last 20
05:58years or so just because of the fact
06:00that it's pretty much just over
06:01saturated there's too many different
06:03programs too many different universities
06:05offer it so you can pretty much get an
06:06mba in a cracker box these days like
06:09it's totally ridiculous
06:11how easy it is for you to just tack on
06:13an mba you can do it online you can do
06:15it while you're taking other schooling
06:17so i think the big thing about getting
06:18an mba is if you are going to do it
06:20make sure you do it for a reason right
06:22and also make sure you're getting it
06:24from a reputable university so yeah this
06:26one does kind of depend but if you look
06:28at the statistics it
06:30is pretty good so for that reason i am
06:32going to put it into a tier
06:34next on the list is going to be a
06:37education degree or teaching degree so
06:40this is where you would get like an
06:41education degree and then you go back to
06:43school and get your master's and of
06:44course you would get a salary bump
06:46from that not bad a lot of teachers do
06:48end up going down this route
06:50um but it doesn't really pop off the
06:53so this is one that is you know okay um
06:56the debt to income ratio on this one was
06:582.5 to one so it is manageable
07:00but yeah i'll go ahead and put this one
07:02into c tier next on the list is going to
07:04be one of my personal favorites which is
07:07nurse practitioner this is a degree that
07:09is basically the six
07:10year nursing degree you can even go one
07:13higher than this and become
07:14a dnp which is basically the doctorate
07:18but yeah this one is absolutely
07:21fantastic the debt to income ratio was
07:24um you know they make fantastic money
07:28lots of demand uh pretty good job
07:32there's just so many different options
07:34if you want to be able to
07:35change whatever your career is it's not
07:37as difficult as it would be for a doctor
07:40this is a fantastic one definitely going
07:44tier next on the list is going to be
07:47therapist and generally speaking this is
07:50a master's level degree
07:51although many people think that it's
07:53going to be moving more towards becoming
07:55a doctoral level degree in the near
07:57so the debt to income ratio here is
08:02i do think there are some programs out
08:04there that kind of scam people
08:06just because of the fact that this is
08:08such a popular career to go into
08:10and the reason it's so popular is
08:12because it has such a high job
08:15this is actually one of the highest job
08:17satisfaction ratings out of
08:18all of the different careers out there
08:20and i think the reason for that is
08:21because you basically get to you know
08:23see someone from the time that they get
08:25injured and help them live a relatively
08:27normal life so you really get to see
08:29the fruits of your labors whereas other
08:31types of health care you know you might
08:33see someone one time
08:34and then you kind of just have to wonder
08:36after that point how they are so yeah i
08:38would say with this one be careful what
08:40school you go to there are some
08:42occupational therapy mills out there
08:44make sure you go to a school that isn't
08:46going to scam you and charge you way
08:48uh is needed but this one overall is
08:52into b-tier pretty solid next one on the
08:54list is going to be physician
08:56assistant now known as physician
09:00this one has a 2.1 to 1 debt to income
09:03ratio not too bad at all pretty similar
09:07to nurse practitioner
09:08even easier for you to switch your
09:11than it is for nurse practitioner a lot
09:14of positives to this one you make a six
09:17lots of flexibility pretty high job
09:21you can actually prescribe and diagnose
09:23under the supervision of a physician
09:25really good one super solid option this
09:29ester next on the list is going to be
09:32at the master's level now i've talked a
09:34lot about psychology it's one of those
09:37of people are interested over a hundred
09:39thousand people graduate with this
09:40degree every single year
09:42it is the single most popular degree and
09:44i can see why a lot of people find it
09:47i think it's interesting however when
09:49you have all these people going into a
09:51and there's just not as many jobs to
09:55that's when something called saturation
09:57happens and this one is
09:58definitely saturated you have to get a
10:01masters at a bare minimum
10:03in order to get a job but with that
10:05being said if you're really passionate
10:06about it you know what you're getting
10:07into you can definitely you know impact
10:09people's lives in a positive way
10:11this one can be somewhat decent as long
10:14really do your research it can be viable
10:17and so for that reason it's going to go
10:19c tier next one on the list is going to
10:23in some type of science related degree
10:27maybe a master's in physics or chemistry
10:29or biochemistry now the thing about
10:31science degrees in my opinion at least
10:33is i think they're extremely
10:34valuable but unfortunately the market
10:36doesn't really treat them
10:38the way that they deserve to be treated
10:40especially at the bachelor's level so
10:43if you get a science degree at the
10:44bachelor's level you're probably going
10:46to have quite a bit of trouble getting a
10:47job or at least a lot more than you
10:49would think however at the master's
10:50level it gets a little bit better
10:52and so this one i am going to go ahead
10:56b-tier next on the list is going to be a
10:58social science or humanity
11:00degrees that is at the master's level
11:04like you know anthropology sociology etc
11:07unfortunately these are the types of
11:09degrees which pretty much the only jobs
11:12that are you know at least directly
11:14available um that you know a lot of
11:16people end up going into
11:18are going to require like a doctorally a
11:20phd level so this stuff is extremely
11:23but unfortunately there just aren't that
11:24many jobs that are available out there
11:26and the numbers for these are very very
11:29bad a lot of the time i recommend people
11:31who have gotten like master's degrees or
11:33or something like that try to get
11:35government jobs that
11:37seems to be kind of like their best
11:38option and a lot of the times these jobs
11:40absolutely nothing to do with the degree
11:43however government jobs can be pretty
11:47it is a bit of a trade-off but you know
11:49if you you can work around it if you
11:51have to uh but overall
11:52i have to be fair here this one is going
11:56next one on the list is going to be a
11:57masters of social work and this
12:00is a master's level degree where you
12:02would get it in order to become a social
12:04and this one is very similar to getting
12:07a psychology degree at the master's
12:10a lot of the same issues with the
12:13it's also going to go into c tier uh
12:15next one on the list is going to be
12:17liberal arts this is going to go into
12:21category at the master's level as the
12:24social science slash humanity degrees
12:27i'm going to go ahead and put it into d
12:29tier and then the next one on the list
12:30is going to be technology
12:32engineering and mathematics degree at
12:36level so these are going to be obviously
12:38like technology degrees engineering
12:40degrees and mathematics degrees
12:42not science degrees because science
12:44isn't as good as the other stem degrees
12:46now the great thing about these is
12:48usually you can very easily get a job in
12:51undergrad just with a bachelor level
12:53degree and so a lot of these
12:55are not saturated it's much easier to
12:57become a professor in engineering
12:59mathematics science etc
13:01because of the fact that you can get a
13:03job an undergrad with just a bachelor's
13:05degree and so you're not going to be
13:06competing against all those people who
13:08can't get a job and they decide to go
13:10and so there's actually a lot of
13:12opportunity out there for people who
13:13graduate with these types of degrees
13:15and so for that reason this one is also
13:18going into ester check out my other
13:19videos right here i made them
13:21just for you go ahead hit that like
13:24button you know ring the notification
13:26bell hit the subscribe button
13:28do all the other stuff uh comment down
13:30below any thoughts comments criticisms
13:31etc that you have on the video let me
13:34what you think about these especially if
13:36you're someone who's graduated with
13:38some of these degrees i would love to
13:40hear your perspective on this
13:42and i will see you next time
