00:00all right so the Microsoft cyber
00:02security analyst professional
00:03certificate just came out and a bunch of
00:05people as usual wanted me to review it
00:08so that's what I'm doing today and if
00:09you appreciate that go ahead gently tap
00:11the like button and let's jump into it
00:13right now because in this video I'm
00:14going to be going over all the most
00:15important factors that you're probably
00:16thinking about if you're considering
00:18this certificate things like time to
00:20completion cost demand salary the
00:23production value of the course the
00:24chances of Landing you a job and what
00:26overall value does it offer so if you're
00:28not familiar with the Google
00:29professional certificate program
00:31basically what happened is there were a
00:34bunch of positions that had a ton of
00:36demand Google and a bunch of other tech
00:38companies needed people who had these
00:40skills and there was basically no one to
00:42fill them College was not doing a good
00:44job of educating people with the proper
00:46skills for the workforce and so Google
00:48Microsoft meta IBM and a bunch of the
00:50other biggest companies in the world all
00:52teamed up with Coursera and they started
00:54making these certificates to train
00:56people in these valuable skills and the
00:58latest one that just came out is is the
01:00Microsoft cyber security analyst
01:02certificate and I know because I've
01:04helped a ton of people choose the right
01:05career and even get into the career that
01:07this is one of those careers that has a
01:09ton of demand there are hundreds of
01:11thousands of cyber security positions
01:12that companies are hiring for now by the
01:15way if you want to check it out I will
01:16be putting a link down in the pen
01:17comment and the description below and I
01:19believe there is a 14 day free trial so
01:22you can literally just try it out for
01:23free but first let's go ahead and talk
01:25about the time to completion now on the
01:28website it says that this course is
01:29going to take about six months and
01:31that's if you study 10 hours per week
01:33almost all of the other Coursera courses
01:35that I have covered take much less time
01:38than this they say that it takes six
01:40months because let's be honest it kind
01:42of sounds better but in reality if you
01:44study a little harder you can finish
01:45this in something like a month so a lot
01:47of the time for the Google It
01:49certificate for instance a lot of people
01:51were reporting that they were able to
01:52finish it in a month some of the other
01:54certificates it might be like a month or
01:55two so it does kind of depend on how
01:57hard the certificates are but with that
01:59being said chances are you can finish it
02:01much faster than six months right so
02:03that's pretty good it's a lot faster
02:04than College it's even faster than a
02:06boot camp boot camps typically take
02:08somewhere around six to 12 months now at
02:10this time it's free for the first 14
02:12days uh I don't know if that's going to
02:14be true if you're watching this like
02:15three months from now because you know I
02:17don't have a crystal ball so you just
02:18have to check the link to see if it's
02:20still true but after that period it's
02:22going to be 49 per month so if you were
02:25to take six months to finish it that
02:27294 dollars and if you take two months
02:30to finish it that would be 98 dollars so
02:32that's a pretty good price compared to a
02:34boot camp that probably costs ten to
02:35thirty thousand dollars or a college
02:37degree that costs over a hundred
02:39thousand not to say that the certificate
02:40is the same as a college degree or a
02:43boot camp I've said this many times
02:44before on the channel but you really
02:46can't compare these different things
02:47it's kind of like comparing a hammer to
02:49a screwdriver and or comparing a
02:51screwdriver to a wrench they're
02:53completely different tools and the tool
02:55that you should use depends on the job
02:57you're trying to get done now next let's
02:58talk about the the demand there is a
03:02massive amount of demand for cyber
03:04security related positions so on BLS
03:06they kind of group a bunch of positions
03:08together but for information security
03:10analysts you see they're growing 35 over
03:13the next 10 years and that is much much
03:16faster than average and just generally
03:18speaking there's a ton of demand for
03:20cyber security related positions whether
03:22you're looking at the entry level
03:23mid-level or even high level jobs I'm
03:25sure everybody's heard of all the
03:27different data hacks for instance and
03:29these companies having to pay massive
03:31fines because of the fact that a bunch
03:32of their customers data got leaked so
03:34that's a massive damage to their
03:36reputation they also lost a bunch of
03:38money and on top of that they had to pay
03:40huge fines and companies do not want to
03:43have to do that so what do they do they
03:45hire a bunch of people with cyber
03:46security related skills now with that
03:48being said cyber security is one of
03:51those careers and I know this from
03:52experience because I've helped a bunch
03:53of people get into this type of thing
03:55that does have a little bit of a bias
03:58when it comes to entry-level jobs and
03:59the reason for that is basically one
04:01word liability there's a lot of kind of
04:04elitism when it comes to hiring for
04:06cyber security jobs especially at the
04:07entry level because of the fact that if
04:09you mess up and a bunch of data gets
04:11leaked that's going to make the company
04:13and your hiring manager look really bad
04:15so they are extremely risk-averse when
04:18it comes to hiring people for those
04:19entry level positions so it can be hard
04:21to get that first job but once you get
04:24that first job you are pretty much set
04:26you have made it so when it comes to the
04:28demand this is really good there's a ton
04:30of Demand with that caveat but if you
04:32think about it once you've made it there
04:33is a pretty big gap when it comes to the
04:36barrier to entry for other people
04:37getting in which means your job is going
04:39to be safer and it also is possible to
04:42get into these entry-level cyber
04:44security positions without having a
04:46college degree or previous experience
04:47but it definitely does help to have one
04:50or both of those things and a lot of the
04:52time people who go into cyber security
04:53actually come from the it field for
04:56instance so that's a natural career
04:57progression that you see a lot of people
04:58make they start off in high T maybe it
05:00help desk for instance and then they go
05:02into cyber security so all things being
05:04equal the demand is really good here and
05:06once you get that job you're probably
05:08going to be set now the next thing we're
05:09going to talk about is salary cyber
05:11security analysts make about 96 000 a
05:15year that's really really good money
05:17especially for a job that is technically
05:19entry level and let's say you become a
05:21chief information security officer well
05:23you're probably going to make 271
05:26000 a year that's Doctor money but let's
05:28say you don't want to rise that high you
05:30just want to become a manager well
05:31information security managers make a
05:33hundred and seventy one thousand so yeah
05:35really really good money here when it
05:38comes to the salary cyber security is
05:40just about as good as it gets now next
05:42let's talk about the production value
05:43and the engagement and to be honest here
05:46you know the course just came out so
05:47there's not much to say but with that
05:49being said Coursera is known to have
05:51really good production value and
05:52engagement I hear pretty much nothing
05:54but positive comments about them like
05:56just about every other Coursera
05:57certificate I've reviewed has positive
05:59comment after positive comment after
06:01positive comment and typically these
06:02companies will actually have their own
06:04employees teaching a lot of the classes
06:06so these are people who are in the
06:08trenches learning the newest and best
06:10stuff and those are the people that are
06:12teaching you what you need to know not a
06:13professor who learns something like five
06:15or ten years back and they're teaching
06:17you what was relevant at that time but
06:19is no longer relevant so overall I
06:21expect this to be pretty good when it
06:22comes to the production value and
06:23engagement now let's talk about its
06:26chances of Landing you a job so this is
06:28what Coursera says about it build job
06:30ready skills for an in-demand career in
06:32the field of cyber security the cyber
06:34security skills you learn in this
06:36program prepare you for an entry-level
06:37role as a cyber security analyst this
06:40program also prepares you for
06:41entry-level roles in information
06:42security compliance and identity and
06:45access management sectors so they
06:47straight up say that you can land a job
06:49with just the cyber security certificate
06:51now I do believe that's true I do
06:53believe that some people out there will
06:54land a job with just a certificate and
06:56of course a lot of self-study but with
06:58that being said the average person is
07:00probably going to have to take further
07:02certificates and certifications and
07:04they're going to have to put a
07:05significant amount of work into their
07:06portfolio so the big value proposition I
07:09see from these Coursera asserts is yes
07:11sometimes they can actually land you a
07:13job but usually they're just going to be
07:15there to help you land a job right most
07:18of the time you're going to have to do
07:19some more studying on the side you're
07:20going to have to build a portfolio which
07:22they do help you build a portfolio but
07:23you're going to have to add to it and
07:25that's completely fine I mean how can
07:27you expect a 49 a month certificate
07:30program to land you a job right you're
07:32paying 49 a month you're expecting it to
07:34land you like a 97 000 a year job most
07:37of the time that's probably not going to
07:39work out but let's talk about what this
07:40cert is going to do for you first of all
07:42it is going to train you on the
07:43foundations of what you need to know to
07:45become a cyber security analyst it's
07:47also going to help you to build out a
07:49portfolio you're also going to get
07:50access to a job board that only people
07:52who complete these certificates have
07:54access to that a bunch of companies
07:56usually these are like big time tech
07:58companies the kind of companies you want
07:59to work for because they pay you really
08:01well they give you good benefits Etc
08:02mostly those types of companies are
08:04hiring on these job boards on top of
08:06that I've gotten comment after comment
08:08on my channel of people who have
08:10actually been discovered by putting
08:11these certificates on their LinkedIn so
08:13you can originally put it on your
08:15LinkedIn just by posting about it and
08:17people might find you that way then when
08:18you complete it you can also put the
08:20certificate on your LinkedIn as well and
08:22there are actually ways of finding
08:23people via the certificate so overall
08:25when it comes to its chances of Landing
08:27you a job it's probably going to help
08:29you quite a bit with that being said do
08:30I think it's going to get you 100 of the
08:32way there probably not it might get you
08:34like 70 percent of the way there though
08:36now let's talk about the overall value
08:38of what it offers and we're also going
08:40to kind of like go over the module so
08:42first of all they offer a resume review
08:44so they're going to improve your resume
08:46and Linkedin with personalized feedback
08:48they also offer you interview prep so
08:50you get to practice your skills with
08:52interactive tools and mock interviews
08:53and they also offer you career support
08:55you get to plan your career move with
08:57coursera's job search guide then they
08:59talk about what you're going to learn
09:00from the certificate which is basically
09:01the foundations and fundamentals of
09:06this exam can be very valuable to you
09:09because it measures your knowledge about
09:10concepts of security compliance and
09:13identity capabilities of Microsoft Azure
09:15active directory part of Microsoft intra
09:18capabilities of Microsoft Security
09:20Solutions and capabilities of Microsoft
09:23compliance Solutions you can take it on
09:25multiple languages like English Japanese
09:27Chinese Korean French Spanish Portuguese
09:30Russian Arabic Indonesian German
09:33traditional Chinese and Italian there's
09:35also a study guide and you can take a
09:37practice exam and assessment and on top
09:39of that you can schedule an exam with
09:41Pearson VUE or certaport the passing
09:43score is 700 and you may be eligible for
09:46Ace college credit if you pass this
09:48certification exam again taking this
09:50exam allows you to have an advantage in
09:52the field of cyber security since you
09:53will have a better understanding of how
09:55Microsoft SCI Solutions can span across
09:57various solution areas and can provide a
10:00holistic and end-to-end solution and
10:02let's go over all the different courses
10:03within the module so course one is
10:06Introduction to computers and operating
10:07systems and security course 2 is
10:09Introduction to networking and cloud
10:10computing course 3 is cyber security
10:13threat vectors and mitigation course 4
10:15is cyber security identity and access
10:17Solutions using Azure ad and Azure is
10:20basically a cloud computing service
10:21course 5 is cyber Security Solutions and
10:24Microsoft defender course six is cyber
10:26security tools and Technologies course
10:28seven is cyber security management and
10:30compliance course 8 is Advanced cyber
10:32security Concepts and Capstone project
10:34and course 9 is Microsoft SC 900 exam
10:38preparation and practice so they're
10:40going to help you to build out your
10:41portfolio so you have something to show
10:43to prove that you have cyber security
10:45related skills and you're going to learn
10:46some really important skills plus you
10:49get to put these certificates on your
10:50LinkedIn as well as your resume and
10:52these certificates are actually
10:53relatively respected I know there's a
10:55lot of certificates out there that are
10:57kind of like you know a certificate from
10:58clown college nobody really cares about
11:00them but these Coursera certificates are
11:02relatively respected by hiring managers
11:04and decision makers it's also a
11:06completely one 100 online course and
11:08it's flexible for your schedule I
11:09believe the first 2500 people who sign
11:12up get a 14 day free trial and then
11:14after that I believe they give a seven
11:16day free trial but make sure you check
11:17again down in the description as well as
11:19the pin comment below I don't own the
11:21company so they might change these
11:22things if you're watching this in the
11:23future and if you're watching this from
11:25another country the pricing may actually
11:27be different and on top of that if you
11:28can't afford it you can apply for
11:30scholarships so yeah when it comes to
11:32the value that these certificates offer
11:34at 49 per month you're probably not
11:36going to find anything else out there
11:37that has the same amount of value for
11:39the price so overall initial Impressions
11:41on this Microsoft cyber security analyst
11:43professional certificate are two big
11:46thumbs up I'm really enjoying it I think
11:48this is going to be yet another great
11:49addition to alternative education online
11:51education that doesn't have anything to
11:53do with boot camps or a college degree
11:55now again is it a replacement for boot
11:57camps or a college degree I don't think
11:59so I think that all of these have their
12:01place just like a hammer doesn't replace
12:04a wrench or a screwdriver which one you
12:06should pick depends on your particular
12:08circumstances your goals your plans Etc
12:10but I think another big value
12:12proposition of this that almost nobody
12:14talks about is the fact that if you
12:16subscribe to Coursera like if you do
12:18Coursera Plus for instance you get
12:19access to 7 000 different courses and
12:22you can kind of dip your toe in a bunch
12:24of different careers and again a lot of
12:26these careers are taught by people who
12:27are currently working at these companies
12:29so this isn't some theoretical knowledge
12:31that a professor is teaching you that
12:33was true like five or ten years ago this
12:35is what's actually being taught and
12:37being used in the workplace right now
12:39and you get to dip your toe in a bunch
12:41of different careers so if you check out
12:42the cyber security certificate you don't
12:44like it maybe you're halfway through
12:45module one well that's great you can
12:47move on to the it certificate or you can
12:49move on to the data analytics
12:51certificate and if you don't like that
12:52you can check out the project management
12:53certificate right I think you get my
12:55point so this is really a low risk
12:57potentially High reward move and the
13:00value is definitely there so overall I
13:02really like the certificate definitely
13:03give it a look like I said there's a
13:05free trial so you can just check it out
13:06all also I want to make this completely
13:07clear I am an affiliate of Coursera so
