00:06coach performance coach in the world
00:08he's the highest paying public speaker
00:10of all time this guy's built a business
00:13Empire that does 7 billion a year in
00:15Revenue um incredible entrepreneur and
00:17Coach I mean this guy's customers his
00:20clients the guys who pay him to coach
00:22them are like you know top athletes uh
00:24you know Serena Williams and Tom Brady
00:26and Conor McGregor you know um
00:28politicians Nelson Mandela Bill Clinton
00:31uh the top Traders and investors in the
00:33world Ray doio Paul tutor Jones they pay
00:35him because they know that Tony is can
00:37help be their Edge right uh he can help
00:39them level up so if he can help them
00:40level up I think we can learn a lot from
00:42him I'm going to ask about three
00:43specific things the first is I actually
00:45went to a Tony Robbins event eight years
00:47ago this is my notebook from that event
00:49uh I still have it eight years ago eight
00:52years later and the reason why is
00:54because I hate to be that guy who's like
00:57I went to a self-help semon art it
00:58changed my life but it did uh I really
01:01came out a different guy I came out a
01:03happier guy I ended up you know at the
01:05time I you know this podcast called my
01:07first million I didn't have my first
01:08million then and I came up with a plan I
01:10came up with a strategy and I stuck to
01:12it after that event I made I did it
01:13because he I made three specific shifts
01:16and so I know most of you will never go
01:18to one of his events you'll never go to
01:19the seminar it's a four-day thing it's
01:20kind of weird it's not as cool as just
01:23going to Coachella or whatever but I
01:25want to ask Tony about those specific
01:27three shifts so that you can hear from
01:28him exactly what I heard in that event
01:31that changed my life that's what we're
01:33going to do on this podcast today those
01:35same exact things that Chang my life I'm
01:37going to have him explain on the podt
01:38today it's kind of like a live coaching
01:39session we're just people pay this guy a
01:41million bucks to do this and we're going

02:22coin the Nickels uh why they did that
02:25and why that was such a good idea um I
02:27wanted to hear some of these stories
02:28from him hanging out with these
02:30billionaire investors um because he
02:32doesn't talk about that a lot and I I'm
02:33I nerd out about that kind of thing so
02:34enjoy this episode with Tony Robbins
02:37this is a real uh cool moment for me
02:39with this podcast to be able to do this
02:40I thank Tony for coming on and I hope
02:49it pull this one out today uh to just do
02:53a little refresher where'd you go when
02:54didd you go I went to New Jersey it's
02:56actually a funny story I had heard oh
02:58Tony Robins is Mot motivational speaker
03:00and I kind of was like oh do I do I need
03:02motivation I don't need motivation I
03:03don't either but there was something
03:05inside me that because when you when I
03:06had watched your videos I thought well
03:08it's not just that I mean he's a he's an
03:10entrepreneur he's doing his company's
03:11doing billions in Revenue he's clearly a
03:13leader and when I went to this event I
03:15knew that it wasn't just like it wasn't
03:18just some generic self-help BS and I go
03:22and a couple things stood out right away
03:23I just want to tell you about this my
03:24experience at your event so I go and the
03:26very first thing that happens is I plan
03:28to just sit back I'm here to learn okay
03:30I'm not going to jump I'm not going to
03:30do all that dancing jumping around stuff
03:32this is my mentality 15 minutes later
03:35that's out the window I'm into it I'm
03:36having a great time uh the second thing
03:38is I notice I see these celebrities up
03:41front these are some of the most
03:42successful people I know all right uh I
03:44I hear this scream that almost sounds
03:45familiar I look over and it's Jedd
03:47Butler the guy from 300 like the Spartan
03:50I'm like all right if he's into this I I
03:51think I could be into this uh you know
03:53like you have this thing like give your
03:54neighbor a high five I turned it's
03:55Vanessa hudgin I'm like giving her a hug
03:58I had this amazing experience and when I
03:59was there it was one guy who turned and
04:01looked at me and he said first time huh
04:03because you just see this grin on my
04:04face and I was like yeah this is not
04:07your first time and he goes no I've been
04:09to five of these and honestly I was like
04:10a little discouraged I was like you got
04:12to come to this thing five times like I
04:13don't know is that how this works and I
04:15go why' you come five times he goes
04:18because when Michael Jordan's in his
04:20prime and he comes to your town you go
04:21watch him play yeah and I thought that
04:23was one of the best compliments I said
04:25Michael Jordan he said yeah he's this is
04:26the Michael Jordan he's like he does
04:27many things but he's the Michael Jordan
04:29of public speaking and after that I
04:30started looking at what you were doing
04:31differently you work with billionaires
04:33and presidents and athletes and all this
04:35stuff but every superhero has a origin
04:38story right like Spider-Man got bit by
04:41The Spider and that's you know that's
04:42where he got his powers from I think
04:44your origin story is amazing and not not
04:46a lot of people know the full story can
04:48you take me back you're 17 years old I
04:50think you're a part-time janitor and
04:52you'd never been to a seminar in your
04:53life how did you what was your spider
04:56bite how did you stumble into this
04:57that's interesting question I was
04:58already interested in personal
04:59development because I had a kind of a
05:01rough background I have four different
05:02fathers we had no money for food I had
05:05to work two jobs work as a janitor and
05:07my mom had a friend and dad had a friend
05:09that had been my my dad my dad's
05:11description was he used to be such a
05:13loser and now he's really successful and
05:16so he called and said listen I hear your
05:18son's gotten big I was I I was 51 in
05:20high school and I I was 6'2 by my senior
05:22year I grew 10 inches in a year I tell
05:24people the difference is personal growth
05:26way but the bottom line is he said you
05:29know I I got to move some furniture and
05:31things I heard he's big you know could
05:32he come work for the weekend for some
05:34extra money so I did I worked really
05:36hard and the guy really was impressed by
05:37their work e think so he said I'm gonna
05:39take you to lunch we go to this lunch
05:41and you know and he's saying you know I
05:43really think you go place you got a lot
05:44of drive and I said well I'd like to ask
05:46you some questions and he said okay and
05:48I said my dad used to say he used to be
05:50such a loser and now you're so
05:51successful how'd you do that you know
05:53only a kid can say this right I wasn't
05:55trying to be cute I just literally
05:56repeated it you go said what then he's
05:58like well it's kind of true and he said
06:00well I went to this seminar and I said
06:02what is this seminar I've never heard of
06:03such thing he said well a man who has
06:05really become accomplished takes 20
06:07years of his life and teaches you in
06:09three and a half hours the best of what
06:10you need to know to make your life work
06:12I said wow that sounds really
06:14interesting I said could you get me in
06:16and he said yeah and there was no
06:18followup so I said well well will you
06:20and he said no I said why not he said
06:22well because if you don't pay for it you
06:24won't value it and at the time I was
06:26working as janer making 40 bucks a week
06:28so I said uh how how much is it he said
06:30$35 it'd be like $250 and and you
06:33today's dollars to give you an idea but
06:35it was a week's pay is all I knew and I
06:36was like are you kidding me for three
06:38hours I said no one of the guy's Rich he
06:41goes no that's not it he said he really
06:44has these tools but he said if you think
06:46it's too much then you go learn on your
06:47own experience and take 10 or 20 or 30
06:49years and maybe never learn it at all
06:51and so long story short I made what I
06:53thought was the biggest decision of my
06:54life to take a week's pay and I went and
06:56heard Jim Ron speak and I was deeply
06:59moved I left there going okay I'm going
07:00to become president United States I'm
07:02going to start with a plan of running
07:03for junior in high school I'm going to
07:05run for student body president I'm going
07:07to be a state I was just looking to have
07:09the most impact but what it led to was
07:11me just really digging in and learning
07:13everything I could about human
07:15development and then very quickly
07:17because I was studying everything I get
07:18my hands on I came across neural
07:20linguistic programming NLP which at the
07:22time was a break through new technology
07:24of how to use language to change human
07:26emotion and behavior and I talk my way
07:29into this you know six-month class I was
07:31the only non- therapist in the class and
07:34um and after the first weekend I was
07:36just out using it I stop I'd go to
07:38literally this the program I went to was
07:40at the airport holid in in LAX and I'd
07:43go to the Denny's that was right next
07:44door afterwards and look for people to
07:47help you it's like here say I'm gonna
07:49change your life but and then gradually
07:52I started modeling and I started
07:53figuring other skills and I started
07:55challenging traditional psychologists
07:56and psychiatrists saying give me your
07:58worst patient I'll handle them in an
08:00hour and I took people with lifetime
08:02phobias you know been in therapy seven
08:04years and turned around in an hour and
08:06that built my reputation and so then I
08:08started working with athletes and then I
08:09started work with Mother Teresa Nelson
08:11Mandela and gorbachov and you know
08:13President Clinton and it just grew and
08:15grew and then along the way I used some
08:17the same skills called modeling finding
08:19out what is makes the difference in
08:21performance around businesses and I
08:23started building companies so today you
08:25know now I have 111 companies we do over
08:27S7 billion dollars in business across
08:29radically different Industries and uh
08:31but this is my mission this what I do on
08:34a daily basis here my education company
08:36is what I value most but that's kind of
08:37the journey and I've had lots of ups and
08:39downs along the way obviously it wasn't
08:40like a straight up experience by any
08:43stretch it's not a straight line but
08:44I've learned hell of a lot I've been
08:46surrounded by a lot of great people
08:47along the way all right everyone a quick

09:36use we just change the colors a little
09:38bit to match our brand very easy they
09:40have this drag and drop version of their
09:42Landing Page Builder and it's super
09:43simple I'm not Technical and I'm the one
09:45who actually made it and once it's made
09:47I then shared it on social media and we
09:49had thousands of people see it and
09:51thousands of people who gave us their
09:52information and I can then see over the
09:54next handful of weeks this is how much
09:56revenue came in from this wealth survey
09:58that I did this is where the revenue
10:00came from so it came from Twitter it
10:01came from LinkedIn whatever it came from
10:03I can actually go and look at it and I
10:05can say oh well that worked that didn't
10:07work do more of that do less of that and

10:24that clip Tony Robbins sat in my seminar
10:2817 17 he was on the outs with his
10:31parents and he was sleeping in his car
10:33and someone got him to come to my
10:34seminar age 17 so you don't you never
10:38audience and he worked for me for three
10:40and a half years promoting my seminars
10:42back then called adventures and
10:44achievement three and a half years
10:45finally ran one of my offices at age 20
10:47in Los Angeles Tony Robbins now he's a
10:50big-time Superstar bigger superstar than
10:52I am around the world unbelievable and
10:55he mastered all the stuff you know I
10:57didn't teach him to firew walk and all
11:00but that's Tony style you know he can
11:03get by with that I couldn't do that I
11:05did say to him one time Tony you got to
11:07do water instead of fire they'll come
11:15world and knowing Tony guess what he'll
11:19it it kid's unbelievable he's
11:23unbelievable so what's it like I mean
11:25hearing your Mentor you know somebody
11:27who became a friend but but start off as
11:29a you were the student he was a teacher
11:30in a way how does it feel hearing that
11:32no he was a teacher for sure he taught
11:33me some of the most important things I
11:35think the most important thing he taught
11:37me um was when I was you know I had all
11:40these different fathers and we were
11:41always broke and so he said change your
11:44mindset change it from can I earn twice
11:47as much in the same amount of time 10
11:49times as much 50 times a 100 times a
11:51thousand times yes if you become more
11:54valuable so you have to work harder on
11:55yourself than you do on your job and he
11:57said you've got to understand whatever
11:59you do do add more value than anybody
12:01else in the marketplace of what you do
12:03and that really it it it sung to me
12:06because I always try to overd deliver in
12:08anything I did even at that stage of my
12:09life and um that's been the basis of
12:12every company that I built across all
12:13these different Industries I there's no
12:15way i' be I am without that piece so I'm
12:17indebted to Jim as my first Mentor one
12:20of the questions I wanted to ask you is
12:22you can't ask Steph Curry how do you
12:24make a jump shot it's too complicated
12:25right I can't ask you how do you be a
12:26good public speaker but I can ask you
12:28how did you get good cuz my sense is yes
12:31you had some natural gifts however I
12:33want to bet and you tell me if I'm right
12:35or wrong that from the ages of kind of
12:37like 17 when you went to that first
12:38seminar to maybe 25 26 27 I would bet
12:41that you probably got more reps in than
12:43anybody else in your field is that I I
12:45could be wrong tell me if I'm wrong I
12:46went to work for Jim Ron the personal
12:48development speaker so you would go out
12:49and make two talks maybe three talks in
12:51a month where you would go to a real
12:53estate office or a stock brokerage or
12:55someplace where you would do a talk and
12:57show them by improving themselves they
12:59could also improve their income that's
13:00usually what they were interested in and
13:02so what I did different was I went out
13:04and said I remember the guy that was
13:06number one in the in the whole company
13:07there were about a thousand employees in
13:09that company and I went up to him the
13:10first day because he was such a jerk to
13:12people I mean it's like total jerk and
13:15so I you know I've always been a kind of
13:16protective of the little guy I was a
13:18little guy I was 5-1 I was protective
13:20back then right when I was in high
13:21school so I went up to him and I just
13:23said you know what I said you're an
13:25absolute idiot and I you better remember
13:27my name I said because it'll only be a
13:29few months before I'll dwarf you and I
13:32said I'll tell you why you're lazy you
13:34do three talks a month I'm going to do
13:35three talks a day so it doesn't matter
13:37if I'm as good as you are I'm going to
13:39destroy you right and I did I booked
13:41myself uh to every kind of group you can
13:44imagine but yes you know if you know uh
13:46I I'm fortunate enough to own a piece of
13:48the Golden State Warriors and I've
13:49coached the team I I haven't been there
13:52this year again I've been had a chance
13:53but they need it but Steph is a perfect
13:55example of what you're describing
13:57because people don't know the greatest
13:58three point shooter in the league when
14:00he was you know in high school he was
14:02really good the dad trained him
14:03continuously his dad was an NBA player
14:06but his dad at one point he's the best
14:08player in the league told him we got to
14:10change your jump shots we get a jump
14:12shots we got to change it you start it
14:13too low you'll never make it the NBA and
14:15so he made him have to do this new form
14:17of jump shot and he became terrible
14:19because you're terrible when you try to
14:20do something new but he wouldn't let him
14:22play competitively until he could shoot
14:24well in this way and then now he still
14:27does it he shoots you know 500 shots a
14:29day to give you an idea 3500 shots a
14:31week think about it 14,000 shots a month
14:34168,000 shots a year these are practice
14:36shots so he's been in the NBA 15 years
14:402.52 million shots in practice in his
14:44entire career's only taken 15,000 shots
14:47and he's made 3,003 pointers and he's
14:49the greatest in history less than one
14:51tenth of 1% of his shots have actually
14:54shown up in a game so I always tell
14:56people you're rewarded in public for
14:58what you practice in private I think
15:00that's an amazing strategy is that is
15:03that your method to kind of learning in
15:04general how do you think about that I
15:05think of learning at two levels I think
15:06of learning as immersion the reason I do
15:0912 hours a day for three or four days in
15:11a row most people wouldn't sit for a
15:12three-hour movie someone spent 300
15:14million to make I can do it because I
15:17know how to engage people in all their
15:20senses in other words how much is a long
15:22time some people say 10 minutes some
15:24people say 10 years right but really a
15:27long time is when you're not enjoying
15:28yourself you know a minute can feel like
15:30eternity if you're in pain but if you're
15:32enjoying yourself time flies and so my
15:34whole mindset was I got to immerse
15:36people because that's how we learn if
15:38you're learn a language and you learn a
15:39little bit of your time in high school
15:41and college most people don't speak the
15:42language but if I took you to Italy and
15:44dropped you in Rome and said I'll pick
15:46you up in 90 days with no teacher you're
15:48GNA be speaking Italian by the time I
15:50pick you up because of the immersion so
15:52I like to immerse myself but immerse
15:54myself with someone who is the best in
15:56the world at something someone who's
15:58already done it not somebody who's
16:00teaching me intellectually like going to
16:02a university with somebody understands
16:04it but has never done it I wanted to
16:06model the very best in the world so I I
16:08would go interview with I'd go to work
16:10for people in the very early days as a
16:11janitor so I could get around them so I
16:13could learn how they think and what they
16:14do gradually I got to the point where I
16:16had these skills and so I could help
16:18people and so I'd help them but then I'd
16:20also learn from them everybody I've ever
16:22coached who calls me a coach I'm no
16:24dummy I learned from them so some of my
16:26dearest friends in the world when people
16:27started us coaching like Mark Betty off
16:29of Salesforce he came to my seminar I
16:31think four times in a row and he as big
16:33as I am he stands out and on the fourth
16:36one he came up introduced himself and
16:37said you know I'm Mark Benny off and
16:39you've convinced me to leave Oracle I'm
16:40going to start my own company that's
16:42called salesforce.com and want you come
16:44on the journey with me and I'll never
16:46forget he said to me he said we're going
16:47to do a we're going to change business
16:49around the world and I promise you we'll
16:50do a hundred million doar in business
16:53and now he's doing 35 billion right it's
16:55he worth so it's like and he's done that
16:58in 16 years you know the growth has been
17:00unbelievable so Mark says I'm his coach
17:03yeah I've learned as much from Mark or
17:05more than he's learned from me same
17:06thing with Peter goober you know Peter
17:08and I are Partners the Golden State
17:09Warriors the LA Dodgers you know we both
17:12uh invested and started with the LFC
17:14football club he's got 52 Academy Award
17:17nominations he's you know he's one of
17:19the most brilliant IM and beings that I
17:20know so I learned from him so all the
17:23people that I've coached over the years
17:24I've learned from and I've tried to do
17:26it through immersion the more you can
17:28imers yourself where you're thinking
17:29breathing doing something 18 20 hours a
17:31day the faster you're going to learn so
17:33that's how I go about it what's
17:35something you learned from Peter because
17:36he's a fascinating guy that I think most
17:38people don't you know of his work but
17:40you don't know him necessarily he's not
17:42super out there publicly talking all the
17:43time and trying to share knowledge do
17:45you have any good Peter grber stories or
17:48uh or Lessons Learned you've had now
17:49that you partner with him on some things
17:50how he thinks I say one of the most
17:51valuable principles I learned from him
17:53him and a and a friend of his when we
17:55became friends at one stage you know he
17:57said change my life I want to do some do
17:59some more things with you and he had a
18:01small group of men about 8 to 10 that
18:05had been getting together twice a year
18:07sometimes three times a year they go on
18:08these amazing trips and they just
18:10brainstorm but everybody there was the
18:12master of their Universe right so it' be
18:14like Pat Riley you know was at the time
18:16you know the winningest coach in NBA
18:18basketball uh you'd have the richest man
18:20in Canada like this amazing who and so
18:23he invited me to come on this trip with
18:25him and he said look we've never brought
18:26anybody in before you're 18 years
18:28younger than just about everybody here
18:30but you have so much to out I convince
18:32the guys let you come on the trip and if
18:33they like you maybe you come part of the
18:35group and come on a regular basis now
18:37this is I'm just starting my businesses
18:38I'm early on in my career of 30 31 years
18:41old and I'm in a place where he wants me
18:44to go off on this 12 day trip well I
18:46couldn't leave my business for 12 days
18:47in those days I was a business operator
18:49I wasn't an owner like I am today so I
18:52had to go on the trip and on the trip
18:53though it was such a push I didn't want
18:55to miss it I did it I was so stressed
18:57out because I felt like didn't belong
18:58there so uh he didn't had this
19:01conversation with me about what I want
19:02to do with my life and then he said well
19:04let me tell you the most important
19:05principle to get you there he said
19:07proximity Is Power and he and Peter B
19:11started nodding and saying this is what
19:12makes everything work and I said what do
19:14you mean proximity Is Power what do you
19:15mean by that he said to me at the time
19:17you know how many investment bankers do
19:19you know I said no I don't know maybe a
19:21dozen he goes how do you spend time with
19:23I said not he goes that's a huge mistake
19:25you must go spend time with them because
19:27as you spend time they will think of you
19:29and they will come up with deals that
19:30will help you generate the economics you
19:32want to generate if you want to run for
19:33office or do something of that nature
19:36and I said okay and so I started doing
19:38it I felt really uncomfortable and then
19:40I saw him again and he really gave me
19:42stuff and so then I did it deliberately
19:44ongoingly and for a year and a half I'd
19:45go meet people I I'm I'm not a networker
19:48per se um because I felt like I I don't
19:50know I'm not asking for something and I
19:52don't know what I can do for them I try
19:53to always be a giver and but nothing
19:56came out of I mean some good friendships
19:58and so for no business came out of and
19:59one day I got a phone call that led to a
20:01$50 million deal for me and then another
20:04day about a year later converted that
20:07into making in one single day $400
20:09million taking a company public so I
20:12always tell people if you think about
20:14important principles one of the most
20:15important ones I learned from Peter and
20:17his friends was you've got to get in the
20:19environment where the best people in the
20:21world are on a regular basis and add
20:23value and then things will start to
20:24happen nothing accelerates more than
20:26that other than your own skills and
20:27development one of the things I got from
20:29being in proximity with you at your
20:30events immersion going there for four
20:32days and and and really soaking it all
20:34in was would you came on stage there was
20:37an energy shift every time and you you
20:38mentioned Mark Ben off I know You'
20:40talked at the Salesforce conference and
20:41I watched the video and he he said
20:42something great he goes the next guy
20:44who's coming out here he doesn't I mean
20:46Salesforce is like you know a bunch of
20:47sales reps in the audience as it's a
20:49white collar crew they're all sitting
20:51down they've been at a thing all day he
20:52says he doesn't come out to a cold room
20:55and he goes so if you if Toon's G to
20:57come out here we better are warm up
20:58right now and immediately everybody
20:59raised their standard of how they were
21:01going to show up for you and you came
21:02out and you had a certain energy with
21:04you I stole that and I started using
21:06that I said I don't come out to cold
21:07rooms anymore I raised my own standard
21:09in that way that's great but I it it's
21:11not just in the work context because um
21:13even though I went to your event because
21:15I wanted to be more successful and more
21:17ambitious whatever and I had these goals
21:18I wanted to have you know $10 million by
21:20the time I was 30 and then you know
21:22today it's like our companies this year
21:23will do like $50 million in Revenue
21:25raises it's it's it's continued to grow
21:27but the thing I took away the most
21:29wasn't any of the work stuff it was how
21:31you show up at home you had this thing
21:33that I want you to talk about called the
21:34honey I'm home energy I've been doing
21:36this now for like eight straight years
21:38since I I went to your event people
21:40don't know this explain what coming home
21:41with the Honey about that yeah that's uh
21:43it's just really simple it's just I
21:45remember my father used to come home my
21:47fora especially when the door closed
21:49there was this pause and we waited to
21:51see what kind of state he was going to
21:52be in and you could tell if he was in an
21:55unhappy State you want to kind of avoid
21:56the environment or if he'd say monkey
21:58gurus you used say this fre monkey gurus
22:00made no sense but he had so much
22:02enthusiasm and excitement in his voice
22:04that we knew it was a good day so I
22:06thought when I come home I want to make
22:07a difference so my wife and I have this
22:09little thing that we do is I come home
22:10honey I'm home and then we look for each
22:12other and we run towards each other just
22:15hug each other and kiss but it's a it's
22:17a beautiful ritual that we've you know
22:19we've been together 24 years and we
22:21still have this aliveness and passion
22:23for each other because we still put
22:24ourselves in those high energy states
22:27it's easy because of being worn down by
22:29work or environments or kids or some of
22:31your family's ill or financial pressure
22:33in your business let's say to let your
22:35state drop and then when you're around
22:37your partner that's what they experience
22:38all the time and then their State's low
22:40and then you're both filtering life
22:42through that so I think it's really
22:43important just like if you're going to
22:45get up and be a perform in a peak state
22:47if you're going to P Peak results you
22:49got to be in a peak State you got to
22:50train yourself to do it at home and then
22:52after a while it's not phony it's just
22:54like if you see an athlete they have
22:56muscles you know why do the muscle
22:58because they work out regularly well
22:59when you push yourself into a great
23:01state regularly it becomes your standard
23:04and it becomes how you feel all the time
23:06you kind of wire yourself with that it's
23:07not to say you don't have down times or
23:09frustrating times or sad times or
23:11whatever have all those things but
23:13they're not the majority of the time and
23:14if they happen you can snap out of it
23:16fast because you know how to and I think
23:18that's a huge part of what I try to
23:20teach people is that you don't have to
23:21accept how you feel and people all times
23:23say well I don't feel like it well if if
23:25I waited till I felt like it I wouldn't
23:27do 90 % of stuff I've done in my life
23:29I've learned how to make myself feel
23:31like it um because if you don't do that
23:34you're you're not going to accomplish or
23:35achieve or enjoy your life at the level
23:37that you deserve and probably desire
23:39right you said something about the 90
23:41seconds of suffering can you explain
23:43this concept because I stole this I
23:45stole this like it's Oceans 11 and I
23:47came into I stole this framework from
23:49you and I have been using it since then
23:51I'm glad you stole it that's that's a
23:52worthy thing is still
23:54stealing life is too short to suffer I
23:57I'm not going to suffer I know how to
23:58change my state but I want to create a
24:00rule that within 90 seconds if I start
24:03to suffer I'm going to snap out of it
24:04now don't get me wrong it doesn't mean
24:05you don't get angry or frustrated or
24:07pissed off or worried or any of those
24:09things I can have all those feelings but
24:11if you train yourself to snap out of it
24:1290 seconds and by the way in the
24:14beginning no problem 90 seconds and easy
24:16things but then life gives you some big
24:18tests right you get something feels more
24:20like 90 days than 90 seconds but you get
24:23it's like any skill like like shooting
24:25the basket you do it again and again and
24:26again you get better better and better
24:28and it's changed my life because no
24:30matter what's going on I can still find
24:31the beauty in that and in a beautiful
24:34State of Mind you'll come up with the
24:35answers much quicker than a pissed off
24:37state or a fearful state or a lousy
24:39State plus it gives a gift to everybody
24:41else who wants to be around somebody
24:42who's in a crappy state right think
24:44about it like this you know if you have
24:46a if you have cable or you have
24:48satellite and you turn the channel
24:49there's certain channels where it's all
24:51comedy other ones all drama other ones
24:53it's all horror right other ones it's
24:55you know romance well the Channel
24:58Changers your body because if you look
25:00at the greatest athletes in the world
25:02Tom Brady you know locally here in
25:04Florida you know we have a group that's
25:06won the Stanley Cup over and over gun
25:07the Tampa Bay Lightning and they're
25:09famous for coming from behind and
25:11winning so the the same group did test
25:14on them before they ever worked with me
25:16and they discovered there's a
25:17biochemistry of what they call
25:18Championship biochemistry it's where
25:20these people like Tom Brady's down by 10
25:22points and it's the fourth quarter of
25:24the Super Bowl and he comes back the way
25:25I mean how he has this huge huge surge
25:28of testosterone which gives you total
25:30focus and drive it also makes you
25:33remember everything it's like if I ask
25:35you where you at 911 everybody remembers
25:37the moment actually where you're 811 no
25:39one knows where they were right because
25:40you don't have that surge of
25:41testosterone the energy but usually
25:44testosterone is matched by cortisol
25:46which is a stress hormone but in this
25:48case their cortisol drops through the
25:50floor so all they get is pure focus and
25:53drive now it doesn't guarantee you're
25:54going to succeed but increases your
25:56chances about 10 fold
25:58every time I get on stage I develop that
26:00biochemistry love it and uh I have so
26:03many more questions but I also I feel
26:05like your PR team I feel like there's a
26:06red dot that's going to come on me if I
26:07don't talk about your book so I want to
26:08ask you a question about this so I read
26:10the advanced copy of your book so the
26:11Holy Grail of investing it's the third
26:14of these kind of like money related
26:15books that you've been doing which has
26:16been fun because I like the business
26:18side that's obviously where I kind of
26:19nerd out yeah tell the story about the
26:21guy you you know who I think he's a
26:23billionaire who who bought millions of
26:24nickels and why this guy bought millions
26:26of nickels I think this was so fun and
26:29uh you got to tell that story let me let
26:30me give people a little background so
26:31I've written three books on finance I I
26:34started back in 201 13 because after the
26:372008 Dropout I've been working with Paul
26:39tutor Jones one of the top 10 financial
26:42traders in the history of the world I've
26:43coached him for 24 years he hasn't lost
26:45money during that time so I've learned a
26:46lot um but when I saw that the way we
26:50dealt with 2008 was we instead of
26:52punishing the people that almost
26:53destroyed the system we gave them more
26:55of our money it just blew my mind and so
26:58I I thought I can't change everything
26:59but I have access so I decided to write
27:01a book where I interview 50 of the
27:03smartest Financial investors in the
27:04world the most successful all self-made
27:06billionaires nobody from Lucky sperm
27:08Club they didn't inherit it they created
27:10it you know Ray do Carl icon Warren
27:12Buffett Paul Tor Jones all of them so I
27:15was interviewing a gentleman that took
27:17$30 million and turned it into $2
27:20billion in 20082 2009 the worst economic
27:24time and um and I I asked him I said
27:27how' you do this and he went
27:28asymmetrical RIS reward I've heard that
27:30from every great investor I said okay I
27:32understand what that means but how' you
27:34do it how he did it was he saw the in
27:37the mortgages and everybody thought
27:38these mortgages were going to hold up
27:40and it real estate was going to grow
27:42forever and he knew that wasn't true and
27:44he bet against it with unique tools so
27:46he literally he could be wrong 13 times
27:50to still make money so that's how he
27:52turned that money around and made the
27:53greatest return in just about any period
27:55of time so I asked him I said his name
27:57is Kyle bass I said Kyle I said how
28:00would you explain this to like someone
28:03who's unsophisticated and how would you
28:05explain it to your kids he goes Tony I
28:07can't believe you said that I just
28:08recently asked myself the same question
28:11so I want my kids to understand this
28:12principle because that's what'll make
28:14him wealthy and he said so I fought how
28:16can I do this he said for six months I
28:18kept asking the question where can I
28:20find an investment that is so
28:22asymmetrical there's no downside and
28:25there's huge upside immediately now most
28:27people say you're an idiot to even ask
28:29that question there's no such investment
28:31right no risk no reward and he goes no
28:33he goes smart people ask questions
28:34nobody else ask I kept asking and I
28:36finally came up the answer Nicholls I
28:38said Nichols goes yes he goes here's how
28:42it works nickles to make a nickel cost
28:4511 cents that's how screwed up our
28:47government is and he said and he said so
28:49years ago pennies used to have copper
28:51that's almost no coppernick he goes
28:53those pennies are worth two cents he
28:56said the reason is because the copper
28:57Valu is there but also now they're so
29:00unique right he said so I thought
29:02Nicholls don't never be worth less than
29:045 cents I want to buy as many nickels as
29:07I can because he said the Meltdown value
29:10alone would give me 30% return on day
29:12one 30% I like investment where you
29:15can't lose money and you're guaranteed
29:17at least 30% I said yeah but I've seen
29:19the rules you can't melt money anymore
29:21he goes yes I know that's what they say
29:23he said but I don't even have to melt it
29:26Tony the same thing happened to pennies
29:27is will happen to nickels he said they
29:29can't do 11 Cent 5cent nickels forever
29:32once it changes the value of these
29:34original nickels is going to be great so
29:35he went to the fed and asked how many
29:37nickels he could buy and I figet the
29:39number was millions of nickels it was
29:40truckloads of nickels he has kids unload
29:42them and put them in he said if I could
29:44push a button and convert my entire
29:45assets to nickels I do it tomorrow I
29:47can't ever lose money and I'm up at
29:49least 30% so that's e rward another good
29:53example is my friend Richard Branson and
29:55if you know Sir Richard now as they call
29:57it and Richard's a fun guy he's like um
30:00look He he'll take risk with his life
30:02he'll like get in a balloon go go on a
30:04spaceship he's like the oldest 21y old
30:06in the world that guy that guy's just
30:08having fun all the time except not when
30:09it comes to investing when it comes to
30:11investing he's like what's the downside
30:13how do we protect against the downside
30:15that's why he's so successful and so
30:16when he was going to take on British
30:18Airways with you know building his own
30:20Airlines think of the expense and the
30:22risk of buying bowling Jets 150 250 Jets
30:26so he NE negotiated for a year with
30:29Boeing till he finally got the degree
30:31that he'd buy all these Jets but a year
30:34from now if he was not able to be
30:36profitable in business or stay in the
30:38business he could return all the Jets
30:39with no credit loss no cost to him
30:41whatsoever so he had zero downside only
30:45upside that's how these guys play and
30:47then the fourth one is diversification
30:49and when I went through those and saw
30:51them with everybody what triggered this
30:52latest book The reason I decided to
30:54write this final book was I saw that
30:56waitest second the most successful
30:59people have a different asset allocation
31:01they're getting much more asymmetrical
31:03risk reward and I also my conversations
31:06with Ray doio learned a principal I
31:08asked Ry 12 13 years ago we first became
31:11friends I said you know I I prepared for
31:13like 11 hours for my interview with him
31:15was supposed to be 30 minutes and with
31:16three and a half hours because he got
31:18into it with me he was great and we
31:19became friends and I asked him one
31:21question I asked him was okay out of all
31:22things we've talked about is there one
31:24principle above all others that would be
31:27the most important investment principle
31:29that would make somebody wealthy if they
31:31practiced it he goes Tony I have
31:32wrestled with that for more than a
31:34decade and I can tell you what it is he
31:35goes I call it the Holy Grail of
31:37investing which is why that that's the
31:39title of this book it's really Rey it's
31:41not me right and I said well I've lean
31:43for what is it he said Tony in order for
31:46people to get what they want Financial
31:48Freedom they've got a compound right
31:50well in order to get higher rates of
31:52return you got to take bigger risks
31:54which then could cost you getting to the
31:55goal that's why I I said location
31:57finding that balance what's right for
31:59you is so important he said but I
32:02discovered something mathematically if
32:04you can find 8 to 12 uncorrelated
32:08Investments he said you can reduce your
32:1280% and make a slight increase in your
32:15upside he said you're eliminating 80% of
32:18the risk he go Tony that is the most
32:19important thing that's out there people
32:20don't know this but now for your
32:22audience I'm sure they understand in
32:23case they don't if you think about
32:25correlated versus non correlated stocks
32:27and bonds would be an example right when
32:29the econom is going great people want
32:31the growth that comes in stocks when
32:34thoughts going go great they expect that
32:36bonds are going to get them through it
32:37right they're not necessarily correlated
32:39so I wrote down the principle I started
32:42looking to try to find things that are
32:43not correlated it's rough in the world
32:45we're in today so much is tied together
32:47in the public markets and so sure enough
32:50as I started doing this looking around I
32:53came across an interesting statistic
32:55that blew my mind and here's what it is
32:57in the last 35 years every stock market
33:00in the world has produced a smaller
33:03return than private Equity average
33:05private equity in that same time so I'll
33:06give you an example most people know the
33:09S&P 500 the index of the top 500
33:11companies in stock market and if you
33:13invested in the S&P over the last 35
33:15years you had an average of a 9.2%
33:18compounded return which is amazing you
33:20know you're at 5% you're doubling your
33:22money every 14 and a half years if
33:24you're you know at 9% it's every eight
33:26years that's big jump but if you're an
33:29average private Equity not the people I
33:30interview this book people I interview
33:31this book are the 13 biggest in the
33:33world so they have like 20% or more
33:36compounded for decades one of them in
33:38this book is 37% compounded for 26
33:41straight years I it's unbelievable right
33:45so when you're compounding that it goes
33:46crazy but the average is 14.2 per year
33:51so understand this you're compounding
33:5350% greater every single year compounded
33:56so so what does that mean if you put a
33:58million dollar in the S&P 535 years ago
34:00and forgot about it it's worth $26
34:03million today it's unbelievable but if
34:05you put a million dollars in the average
34:07not these guys in the average private
34:09Equity of 14.2 you have $139 million in
34:13the same money in the same amount of
34:14time so I was like whoa now what are the
34:18ultra high netw worth people have 40 4%
34:20of of their Assets in private equity and
34:23private real estate so I started digging
34:25into that area and that's what this book
34:26was all about yeah I really liked it
34:29there a great chart we should throw up
34:30it said what was the lowest fiveyear
34:32returns by asset class lowest five years
34:35so like how bad can the bad get because
34:37everybody tells you about the good
34:38nobody tells you about the bad usually
34:40and I love this one because private
34:41credit was the only one that had a
34:42positive return in its lowest five years
34:44in the last 30 years 20 years something
34:45like that so it was it was cool to see
34:47these different asset classes that most
34:49people don't have the knowledge of or
34:50the access to and I think that's the the
34:51premise of the book so who are the
34:53people what's the largest number of
34:55billionaires and most people think it's
34:57Tech and it's not and then they think
34:58it's real estate and it's not it's
34:59financial services but it's not hedge
35:01funds and it's not BC funds some BC
35:03funds but not most I very small it's
35:06private Equity because they have the
35:07money for five years so when the market
35:09goes down they don't have to sell they
35:11buy when the market goes up they sell
35:13they have the room to play right to get
35:15things done and they're not just trying
35:17to buy something with the right timing
35:18they're buying a company and making it
35:19better bringing new marketing bring in a
35:22new CEO bringing in new systems and
35:24building up and then selling it private
35:25or taking it public so they have a lot
35:27more flexibility and they're the they're
35:29the Masters of the Universe so I was
35:31like okay let's see what they're doing
35:33and my friend I said I'm getting into
35:34some of these private Equity but the
35:36very best are like you know going to a
35:38club and you're you got plenty of money
35:39and you're outside if you're not
35:40good-look you don't know everybody
35:42you're not getting in that club I don't
35:43care how much money you have right it's
35:45very similar like you know buying a
35:47Ferrari and any Ferrari yes but the
35:49newest hot sp3 you know they cost 4
35:52million bucks you can't even buy it cuz
35:54they're all gone already by collectors
35:56who buy them before they even come out
35:58well it's very similar for the best
35:59people in private Equity I saying I've
36:01gotten a few because of my name and some
36:03relationships but the amount I'm getting
36:06is too small and he just Tony goes um
36:10I'll tell you a little secret I'll tell
36:11you where I put the majority of my money
36:13and this guy's very very wealthy very
36:15successful so I'm leaning in and he goes
36:18there's this firm in Houston Texas like
36:20it's Houston Texas I he's going to say
36:21Singapore London you know New York
36:23Connecticut right he goes yeah they're
36:24off the beaten path they're the best at
36:27they have found a way they're the
36:28biggest in the world right now one of
36:29the three biggest and they said they
36:31found a way where you don't have to buy
36:33into the fund where you can buy into the
36:36company and own a piece of the company
36:38and you own all their funds now if you
36:40know how these funds work they make 2%
36:42on your money they tie it up for five
36:44years and you're willing to tie it up
36:45because of the greater returns right but
36:47they make 2% of your money if they don't
36:49make you anything every year so they
36:50have a built-in income that's great and
36:52then they get 20% of The Upside if they
36:55make you a bunch of money they get 20% %
36:56of that and it's not uncommon for them
36:58to go from a billion to two billion in
37:00five years so they make a 100 million
37:03fees in those five years and they make
37:05another 20% on a billion they make $300
37:08million on a billion dollar investment
37:10that's why they're the wealthiest people
37:11in the world like I got know how to do
37:12this so I met with these guys in Houston
37:14I became a client and then I eventually
37:16invested with them I'm partner with them
37:18and then I was like man we got to get
37:19this out but nobody could take advantage
37:22of it now they can't so as a result we
37:24put it out there so you can imagine I
37:26own now 65 of the largest private Equity
37:29firms I own a piece of them as a partner
37:32in every fund that they have so and I'm
37:35not there working every day till 2 in
37:36the morning like they are in those
37:38pieces the other one I'll tell you about
37:39is you read the book so you know is
37:41sports I always wanted to own a sports
37:43team I was gr totally poor you wanted to
37:45be a baseball player right that's right
37:47you got a good memory I used to go to
37:49Dodger Stadium every once in a r Moon
37:51way off in the Deep far seats in right
37:53field the cha s you could bue and I I
37:56bled dodger blue I'm a piece of the
37:58Dodgers but to get to that point the
38:00first team I was able to make a purchase
38:02of and be a partner in was the Lac
38:05football club the soccer team there we
38:07built the stadium I got to help design
38:08it it was fun I got to with my friend
38:10Peter goober is just a genius but the
38:13amount of money time and energy and the
38:15amount of like a microscope in your bum
38:19that they do to qualify you is
38:20mindboggling right to do it so but now
38:24in all these sports teams I even have
38:25competing teams because rule was changed
38:27three years ago this is amazing only a
38:29few firms have been able to do it and
38:31the rule allows you to buy a small
38:33sliver of teams and why would you want a
38:36sports team because they're not
38:37correlated to the stock market in
38:40inflationary Times sports teams do well
38:42they've done extremely well they rais
38:44the price the hot dog people pay it
38:45doesn't matter and they used to be just
38:47putting butts in seats but that's not
38:49true anymore so I'll give you an example
38:51you know this if you read the book um my
38:53partner Peter G bought the Dodgers with
38:55a group of people Magic Johnson B group
38:57people I'm part of it now too and when
38:59they bought it they paid $2 billion doll
39:01for the fur and everybody's freaking out
39:03right I remember the news people are
39:05like this is a crazy buy because no one
39:06paid more than 800 million for a sports
39:08team and most people believe the Dodgers
39:09is worth a billion but not two billion
39:12so I went to Peter I like I know you're
39:13not dumb I know the smartest guy I know
39:16so you must know something no one else
39:17knows if we're going to do this tell me
39:19goes Tony you know I like making movies
39:22with Cliffhangers he said I want to make
39:24you wait three days CU I'm making
39:26announcement when you hear the announcer
39:27come over L A little party together they
39:29made the announcement he sold the local
39:33TV rights just the local TV rights for 7
39:36billion made five billion on the
39:38spot so why because sports teams now are
39:42media Enterprises of the 100 best shows
39:45most watch shows last year 92 were
39:47sporting events and they'll watch the
39:49ads because everybody's cord cutting
39:50everywhere else and going and watching
39:52things you know streaming Sports the
39:54only thing live you want to see in real
39:55time for to have value for you and they
39:57can do those ads so and they buy real
40:00estate today they they are unbelievable
40:02organizations so now I'm a part of the
40:05Dodgers of the Warriors the Red Sox the
40:07Pittsburgh Penguins I mean I go on and
40:09on and on and I have the ownership
40:11benefits but I also have something
40:13that's not correlated so it's one by 8
40:15to 12 plus on top of that you share in
40:18the revenues of every other team's media
40:21in other words it's equal share if
40:22you're a small team or a big share you
40:24keep your local media that you get to
40:26sell locally so the income streams are
40:28amazing I'll give you an example Michael
40:29Jordan we actually bought it Michael
40:31Jordan bought the Charlottes for 275
40:34million controlling interests 12 and a
40:36half years ago he just sold us we're one
40:39of the buyers as a group of buyers for
40:41three billion that's his return on that
40:43time period in the last 10 years if you
40:46take the NBA the the Major League
40:48Baseball soccer and hockey those four
40:51together they've averaged between them
40:5418% compounded during that time versus
40:5711% they in the S&P 500 so just you're
40:59only doubling your return having fun
41:01having something you're part of that's
41:03really cool and people can have an
41:05experience that they once dreamed about
41:07without having billions of dollars and
41:08go through all the hell of it so there's
41:10so many opportunities like this and
41:12people can get it get the book it's at

41:28from you was about giving and I think
41:30you know when you when I was at the
41:31event you were talking about oh I've
41:32given I give this many meals every year
41:34I think now it's like a billion meals
41:35some insane number of because you know
41:38you remembered what it was like to not
41:39have food and a part of me was like I'm
41:42gonna do that someday I should do that I
41:44should did myself again I should do that
41:45the future when I you know when I'm rich
41:47I'm GNA do that too and I think this is
41:48probably a pretty common thing easy for
41:50him he's Rich what does it mean what
41:52does it matter to him to write a $5
41:54million check right I wish it was just
41:57until well right fair enough until you
41:59told a story about giving early on and
42:03give and I I I just want you to tell
42:05this one story because I think for most
42:06people if they made it to this part this
42:08will make a bigger difference in their
42:10lives than anything else that you tell
42:11them because I know it did for me you
42:13told the story about going to the salad
42:14bar oh yeah going to a salad bar you're
42:1624 years old and you're broke and you
42:18had a giving moment that sort of shifted
42:20you would you please just tell that one
42:21because I think giving is not something
42:23you got to wait till you're rich to do
42:25which is I think the common
42:26misconception I tell people if you won't
42:27give a dime out of a dollar you're not
42:29going to give 10 million out of 100
42:30million or you know 100 million out of a
42:32billion don't kid yourself right and
42:34also the value of giving transforms you
42:36out of scarcity but the background on it
42:38is I was working for Jim Ron this
42:40personal development speaker and I
42:42really did well and then I did poorly
42:44for a while and I was really frustrated
42:46I was working hard I wasn't getting the
42:47return I was totally broke you know
42:49you're in business you make some
42:50mistakes and I found myself totally
42:51broke again and I'm in this 400 foot
42:54bachelor apartment in Venice California
42:56feeling sorry for myself and watching
42:58Luke and Laura on General
43:00Hospital it was just terrible and um I'm
43:04down to my final you know 1920 21 $22 I
43:08wasn't some change I haven't paid my
43:10rent and I got to figure out what to do
43:12and what to eat so my focus was okay I'm
43:14going to go to this all you can e salad
43:17bar taco bar and I'm going to load up
43:19for for the winter um and you know spend
43:22five bucks in the you know and then I
43:24didn't drive there because it was only
43:26about three miles but I couldn't pay
43:28three bucks for parking too it was just
43:29I couldn't do that so anyway long story
43:31short I get to the place it's on the
43:33water in Marena Del ra it's why I went
43:35there there's boats going by and I I
43:37can't I don't have a pot to pee in right
43:39but I'm visualizing and then my my I a
43:44stack of food this high and then the I
43:46could see the front door because where I
43:47was sitting and the front door opens and
43:49this beautiful woman walks in she was
43:51just absolutely gorgeous I couldn't help
43:52but look then I waited to see if there
43:54was a guy with him as if I had any shot
43:56at this right and she had a guy with him
43:59unfortunately and he was about 3 feet
44:01tall and he had a little vested suit on
44:04little tie and you know he opens the
44:07door for her and he pulled out the chair
44:08for her and I was just I was
44:11mesmerized and I was moved and I got
44:14emotional I don't know why I don't know
44:16if it's thinging my own Mom I don't know
44:17what it was at the time but anyway the
44:19bottom line is when I was done eating I
44:21went baited it was 5.95 or something
44:23like that and I had the rest of the
44:25money in my pocket I had no plan for
44:26this and I I'm walking out the door
44:28there's that little boy with his mom and
44:31her back's to me so I didn't talk to her
44:33I wasn't going to her I just went up to
44:35him because I was so moved and I just

44:38your name I can't remember his name
44:39anymore you know Johnny or whatever it
44:41was and he goes uh I said Johnny I said
44:44you are a Class Act I said I just want
44:47you to know I have so much respect for I
44:48saw you hold the door for your lady I
44:50saw you pulled the chair out for her
44:51you're so present with her and I said
44:53take it her lunch like this he goes well
44:56she's my mom and I said well that's even
44:58more impressive he goes I can't take her
45:00to lunch because you know I'm just 11
45:02and and I saides you can I have no plan
45:04for it just reached in my pocket took
45:06all the money out in the world $19
45:08whatever was left over and dumped it on
45:10him with the change and everything right
45:12in front of him and his eyes got big and
45:14you know garbage can covers and he goes
45:16I can't take that I said sure you can't
45:18he said how come I said because I'm
45:19bigger than you are and then I smiled
45:21and he laughed and I didn't even look at
45:23the woman I didn't do it for
45:24acknowledgement I just walked out that
45:26door to get my car and then realized I
45:28didn't have my car there because I'd
45:30walk so I I look like a stupid white guy
45:33skipping my ass I'm sure all the way
45:35home I mean I was high as a kite and I
45:38had no money and I got home and I was
45:41still cool about it and I was full GL I
45:43so much and I woke up the next morning
45:46with no plan no idea no nothing and no
45:49money and it's like I mean no money not
45:51a dollar and no one to call to get money
45:54from and it was a guy had loaned a,
45:56to about two and a half years before
45:58when I really didn't have it but he
46:00needed it more than I did I loaned it to
46:01him so I've been for months been calling
46:03and sting you know regular mail to him
46:05because it wasn't answering the phone it
46:07was no email those days and um and that
46:09morning I get my mail and no no call no
46:12response that when I get my mail there's
46:14all the bills and there's a handwritten
46:15note and I open the note and it's from
46:18this guy apologizing to me and telling
46:22me that he was so sorry I was there for
46:23him when he really needed it and he had
46:25not been there for me and he had put in
46:28you know an extra $200 for interest and
46:32$1,200 $1,200 is more money than I could
46:35live on that for a month in those days
46:37right and I just started crying
46:39uncontrollably I was like you know why
46:41am I crying this is beautiful this is
46:42beautiful you know it's like and then I
46:45realized wow you know when I had nothing
46:48I gave everything and here this is what
46:51does this mean I said I don't know what
46:52it means but I'm going to decide it
46:53means because I didn't give to get and I
46:56didn't give what was easy that's why I'm
46:59receiving and it's like that day on I
47:02can tell you I've had ups and downs I
47:04have so many companies the early days I
47:05had a couple companies on the verge of
47:07bankruptcy they didn't go bankrupt thank
47:08God I hung on and made it through it but
47:11I never felt that scarcity I never felt
47:13that scarcity again since that day
47:15because if you get to that point your
47:16brain realizes there's more than enough
47:19and you can give when you feel like
47:20there's nothing there that's that's what
47:22transforms you when I interviewed Sir
47:26who's the first billionaire investor
47:29nothing he said to me that the secret to
47:32wealth is gratitude right because
47:34doesn't matter how much money you have
47:35if you're not grateful you're not rich
47:37um but then he said also I've never met
47:38anybody that tithed for at least 10
47:41years who didn't become wealthy he said
47:43Ty there doesn't have to be a church
47:45it's just taking 10% of what you're
47:46earning and giving it away and I'm proud
47:48to say I've given away 177% and I've
47:50done quite well um but I did it when I
47:52had nothing it's it's there um I want to
47:55play one more seed with the audience
47:56though and that is if they'd like to
47:58have an experience you know they can't
48:00come for the you know three or four days
48:01yet for an event but they'd like to have
48:02an experience since Co started four
48:05years ago everybody was trapped at home
48:07and I was doing stadiums you know and
48:08they started shutting down the stadium
48:09tell like put 100 people in the stadium
48:12so I decided I'd build a studio and I'd
48:14build these 20 foot high you know walls
48:1767 resolution I could see everything and
48:20I went to the guys you know who built
48:21zoom and I said look you know I need you
48:23to help me get to 20,000 30,000 people
48:26not a thousand I built software so that
48:28people could instead of clapping could
48:30shake their phone it would send electric
48:31signal and if one person did hear
48:33nothing when 20,000 people do it it's
48:35like thunder and it allowed me to
48:37literally explode in the number of
48:39people I reach so now I do a free
48:40seminar once a year for three days it's
48:42coming up January 25th through 27th just
48:44in about a week and a half if you want
48:46to go there's zero charge it's not
48:47partially free it's totally free and
48:50it's about two and a half hours three
48:51hours a day of immersion for three days
48:53in a row and it's really designed to
48:55help you get a plan and make the change

49:56and I decided all right I'm GNA start
49:58giving I what I did was I said all right
50:00next year I'm going to send one person
50:01to this I'm going to give somebody an
50:02experience to go to upw and I was like
50:04every year I'm gonna gift more people
50:06than the year before so I've sent 44
50:07people now to your events you know my
50:10mom my dad I know anybody anybody who
50:13you know other entrepreneurs who I
50:14thought you know might like it yes and
50:16uh how they responded to this result how
50:18did they react out these events 15% of
50:20people are um like me they're like they
50:23come back and it's like did somebody
50:25plug you in you're like electric now
50:27what happened to you so 15% of people
50:29they're a new person never looked back I
50:31would say 70% of people were like that
50:34was a great experience I loved it and
50:37they're like you know but they didn't
50:39fully get like you know for me it was
50:41like a a full transformation just being
50:42totally honest so 70% of people all the
50:44Paul experience yeah exactly and then I
50:47would say 50% of people were like what
50:48the hell is this um you know this was I
50:50don't know what this is and they often
50:52you know a lot of people I send are like
50:54successful tech people and they come in
50:56almost like they want to be the smart
50:58guy in the Reddit comments almost and
50:59they're like you know they're so worried
51:01about he said this and is that the real
51:03sta it 54% or 51% I'm like you're
51:06missing the point trying to be so you
51:07know you're you're being so smart you're
51:10being dumb right now and so people have
51:12everybody has their own experience I
51:14think it's uh you know what I tell them
51:15is just go have the experience right go
51:17go decide for yourself uh so you know
