00:04so you're a titan of industry in the
00:08you've monopolized the oil industry and
00:10destroyed competitors
00:11using shady business practices why would
00:14you want competition
00:16competition is terrible unless you have
00:20better yet why not teach people that
00:23compete after all you don't want a
00:28you want a nation of workers you
00:31are john d rockefeller here is the dark
00:34of the school system
00:40in 1903 john d rockefeller founded the
00:42general education board and within five
00:45years he would donate
00:461.27 billion dollars today
00:49adjusted for inflation why would
00:51rockefeller donate such a large sum of
00:54toward american education
01:01rockefeller and his fellow robber barons
01:05ordinary americans resent their wealth
01:09oil tycoon john d rockefeller his son
01:13john jr decide to redeem their public
01:17john senior to win american hearts and
01:21publicizes his philanthropy did he
01:23donate his money because he is a good
01:25did he donate his money because he truly
01:27cared about the american education
01:30or did he donate his money to
01:32indoctrinate american
01:33society the whole idea of assembling
01:36masses of students to be processed by
01:39teachers in a centrally located school
01:42was a stroke of industrial genius the
01:44whole administrative hierarchy of
01:47as it grew up followed the model of
01:49industrial bureaucracy
01:51the very organization of knowledge into
01:53permanent disciplines was grounded on
01:55industrial assumptions
01:57children marched from place to place and
02:00stations bells rang to announce changes
02:05the inner life of the school thus became
02:08mirror a perfect introduction to
02:12society the most criticized features of
02:17the regimentation lack of
02:20the rigid system of seating grouping
02:23and marking the authoritarian role of
02:26are precisely those that made mass
02:29so effective an instrument of adaptation
02:33and time alvin hoffler future shock
02:371970. everything alvin toffler just said
02:39shows the impact that the school system
02:41has on kids it indoctrinates them to
02:43become a part of the workforce and in
02:45the early 20th century this was perfect
02:47for titans of industry
02:48like rockefeller pumping children
02:50through the school system created less
02:52entrepreneurs meaning
02:53less competition for rockefeller but
02:55obviously not everyone can be a
02:56billionaire so what's so wrong with the
02:59honestly for the average person in the
03:0019th and early 20th century
03:02the school system was great it provided
03:04free education and prepared them to join
03:07allowing them to contribute to society
03:10for their family today traditional
03:12schooling is outdated and this became
03:14especially noticeable when the pandemic
03:16with the introduction of the internet
03:18the education system should have had a
03:20massive change but it didn't advance
03:23nearly as much as the rest of society
03:25with the introduction of the internet
03:26and better technology so many more jobs
03:29were created the sad part is
03:31for years now we've been told by our
03:33parents grandparents and great
03:36that the only way to be successful in
03:38life was by going to college
03:39and that was relatively true for most of
03:41the 19th and 20th century but
03:43with the introduction of the internet
03:45everything has changed
03:47i'm a 17 year old kid who runs an ebay
03:50and we had over 200 thousand dollars in
03:52revenue just in 2020 and i could have
03:54pocketed 50 grand if i wanted to
03:56and that's a little bit above the
03:58average salary of a college graduate
04:00and i'm only 17. i know hundreds of
04:02other teenagers that have made
04:03much more money than me plus there's no
04:05limit to how much money i can make
04:07the amount of work i put in equals the
04:09amount of money i get out
04:10and i'm not in any college debt
04:13traditional schooling is downright risky
04:1541 of college students don't use their
04:17degrees after graduating
04:19what's the point of going thousands of
04:20dollars into debt if you're not even
04:22going to use that degree
04:23you went to college because your parents
04:24grandparents and great-grandparents told
04:27that's what screwed up yes the school
04:29system hasn't innovated a lot
04:31but our thoughts on schooling are stuck
04:34you can become a doordash driver and
04:35still have enough to live you can sell
04:37on ebay and amazon and make more than a
04:40you can go to trade school learn about
04:42stuff you actually care about and make a
04:43career out of it without going hundreds
04:45thousands of dollars in the debt
04:46it is alarming to me that there are so
04:49who go into college thinking it's the
04:51only way to be successful
04:53but the reality is a degree is becoming
04:55more and more obsolete
04:56and hey if you don't know what you want
04:58to do in life yet you can always go to
05:01become an intern go to trade school you
05:04can go back to college
05:05literally anytime you want in your life
05:07unless you want to be a doctor
05:08lawyer engineer athlete there is no
05:11reason you should be going through the
05:13factory owners require a docile
05:16who would show up on time and do what
05:19their managers told them
05:21the school system was made to produce
05:22workers and that isn't bad
05:24but society thinks that you are a bum if
05:27you don't go to college
05:28if you want to work a factory job if
05:30that's what makes you happy you can
05:32you don't need to go to college if you
05:34want to be a stem worker or an athlete i
05:36mean you pretty much have to go to
05:38but what about the artists the artisans
05:41entrepreneurs any other lifestyle that
05:42isn't stem or factory
05:44please do not take the school system so
05:47these schools weren't built to make
05:49creative kids they weren't built
05:51to make entrepreneurs they weren't built
05:54they were built to make factory workers
05:57they were built to make doctors lawyers
05:59engineers they're built to make workers
06:01not thinkers just like rockefeller
06:04and his huge donations back in the early
06:08aided this don't worry about what your
06:11family thinks if you're failing school
06:13if you're not going to college but
06:14that's risky no it's not
06:16you know how many college graduates lost
06:18their job this year because of kovid
06:19the internet is the future and brings
06:21endless opportunities for making money
06:23and being able to support yourself you
06:26have other goals and aspirations that
06:28a college degree the school system
06:31so don't let it define you thank you for
06:33sticking to the end hopefully you got
