01:26 Fade Out I think that's enough I think
01:28 that's enough oh my go we're Back le
01:30 Miss p m Lee how's it going get you I
01:34 can't believe anyone can see you it's
01:35 just as well we've painted the back a
01:36 different color see a face and a pair of
01:39 legs yesterday I was wearing another
01:41 jumper a bit like this but I was also
01:42 wearing matching SAU just completely
01:45 gone all day did you put the black lines
01:47 under your eyes go through the jungle
01:51 houseone dodging teenagers in my house y
01:54 well uh yes welcome back to anderton's
01:57 TV uh today we are telling you about a a
01:59 couple of new Yamaha guitars um that the
02:02 wonderful people at Yamaha surprisingly
02:06 um have released so Pacifica Pacifica
02:08 has gone Uber up market right it's gone
02:11 what's the other boy for Pacific
02:13 Atlantic Ocean is pafic Pacifica
02:17 specifica um everybody knows uh the
02:22 Pacifica 112 kind of
02:24 reinvented 25 something years ago um and
02:30 Benchmark for uh the quality of guitar
02:33 that you might decide to learn
02:35 on and uh it was a huge thing for Yamaha
02:39 and they've built on that fantastically
02:41 their guitar division over the last 30
02:42 odd years um and uh most recently I
02:46 suppose the range that made a big splash
02:48 was revstar it's been super super
02:51 popular uh I think after Pacifica
02:54 probably the biggest thing that yamar
02:55 have ever done in the guitar work
02:57 certainly electric guitar anyway
03:00 following on from the whole revstar idea
03:02 of a standard and a professional kind of
03:04 vibe Pacifica is getting the same
03:07 treatment so I have here the new 12
03:10 standard plus uh and Pete has the 12
03:16 professional um why why 12 well cuz
03:19 that's the whole their sort of strap
03:21 shape Vibe guitar name that's the model
03:26 yeah so I mean model Yamaha in the
03:30 rest of the Pacific AR range it's the 02
03:33 is the most affordable one and then the
03:35 112 is the one I guess probably the most
03:37 famous and 312 and 61 412 can't remember
03:41 anyway these all sit above those so
03:44 we're talking a starting price of about
03:46 £1,000 probably just over £1,000 for the
03:49 standard and then maybe more like 2,000
03:52 for the pro so this is you kind of I
03:56 think with the exception of the
03:59 silhouette of this guitar forget all
04:02 other comparisons to Pacifica
04:05 012 so let me tell you about some of the
04:07 things that are cool um actually you
04:10 know what a lot of the features I'm
04:11 going to be telling you about this
04:12 guitar are also on this guitar the main
04:15 difference is this is coming out of
04:16 yamaha's Indonesian facility this one is
04:19 coming out of their Japanese facility um
04:22 and stamp and the made in Japan there
04:25 yeah so even though a lot of the spec uh
04:27 will be the same there is just a General
04:30 sense that the pro one is just put
04:32 together a bit more nicely so I have a
04:34 three-piece old the body here uh goto
04:37 Hardware so 510 trem and the goto
04:40 locking tuners becoming the real sort of
04:43 standard you know alternative trem to
04:45 something like a a strat trim this is
04:48 exciting yeah so Yamaha have worked with
04:51 Rupert Neeve of the sort of you know
04:53 recording console uh Fame to exclusively
04:58 design a set of pickups for Pacifica uh
05:02 these will only be on the um standard
05:05 and the pro options not on the more
05:07 affordable ones but this is cool so we
05:08 got two single coils and a humbucker are
05:10 these the same pickups then or are they
05:11 different in the Pro are they the same
05:13 same okay um simple coil split so unlike
05:17 revstar which had that slightly
05:19 difficult to explain Focus five way
05:21 switch two thing and yeah yeah um we've
05:24 got the easy access trust R adjustment
05:26 which we like here uh here's a
05:28 difference between the to um the
05:31 standard Series has a uh just under 14in
05:34 radius but flat all the way up the pro
05:37 has a compound radius 10 to 14 was it I
05:39 think it was something like that um I
05:41 really like that they do feel different
05:43 I don't know if it's a lacer thing or a
05:45 different choice of Timber or even just
05:47 the machine they Ed to carve them but
05:48 the necks have a different feel yeah I
05:51 like this it's one of those expensive
05:53 feel terrible things to try and describe
05:56 but this just feels more expensive than
05:59 this one however you describe that the
06:01 carve itself doesn't feel different but
06:02 it's the smoothness but the accent feels
06:05 different because I was explained the
06:06 other one before and it does feel the 10
06:08 you can feel that compound stainless
06:10 steel Frets uh choice of Rosewood or
06:13 Maple boards long yeah and then and then
06:17 we've got all these interesting new kind
06:19 of body Contours that you haven't seen
06:21 on Pacifica before so a new style heel
06:23 joint uh the new style armrest like that
06:26 newat plat shap yeah yeah so look that's
06:30 new colors talktalk yeah some colors I
06:33 think we've got all the colors I love
06:35 this color this color is my favorite
06:37 shall I do some tones pink or whatever
06:39 it's called yes I'm going to turn all my
06:41 pedals off during that opening Jam I was
06:43 using a whitey tighty compressor oh with
06:47 a victory Duchess going into a thorpy
06:50 Dane going into a stman break delay that
06:55 was my but this is now just the
07:11 first it's smooth that system it's
07:13 interesting now whether or not by the
07:15 time these are launched I'm sure by the
07:17 time these are launched we'll there'll
07:18 be some official spec about you know
07:20 what magnets have been used and what
07:22 sort of output we're getting from these
07:23 pickups but right now all we know is
07:25 that Rupert Neeve has designed them um
07:28 okay let's just it comes with a lovely
07:30 bag as well love G bag these ones comes
07:32 with prop I like the fact that also
07:34 we've got a standard guitar player and a
07:35 pro guitar player here using so I wonder
07:38 what will happen if we swap guitars
07:40 but so anyway that's that uh uh neck
07:43 position uh neck and
07:51 middle I always think we' I've got to
07:54 and give you something you know useful
07:58 about otherwise it's just going to be
07:59 it's just another single coil pickup
08:00 isn't it so it does sound very clean
08:05 quite bright not stratty it doesn't have
08:08 that I don't think it does you think
08:10 stratty there is a man we keep that
08:14 there's a specific sound F that can make
08:16 that n other S Type guitar makes the end
08:19 yeah this is more how would you describe
08:21 like a studio yeah it's it's it's a very
08:24 Studio guitar it's like a very sort of
08:26 uh balanced or even sort of it sounds
08:28 like a type guitar but it's not but it
08:31 gets all the good things from it it's
08:32 very clean very clean and
08:43 clear middle position no offensive low
08:46 ends or high ends in there it's just
08:47 really nice it's like really nice I mean
08:54 of I mean that could be our new set for
08:56 instance you know it could be that it's
09:03 you know what the middle pickup it's
09:05 almost like the middle pickup's almost
09:07 sounding like a neck pickup does on some
09:10 guitars like the neck pickup sounds
09:25 the yeah sometimes a middle pickup
09:27 sounds a bit too bright for me you end
09:29 up going where would I use that you miss
09:31 uh people underrate the what is it
09:33 called they Mis they misunderstand the
09:35 middle pickup it's an important pickup
09:37 uh then we've got the middle and and the
09:39 humbucker which is currently if I leave
09:42 this tone knob pushed in it's it is the
09:49 humbucker sounds good uh we can coil tap
09:56 position and then we got full hucker
10:05 nice it's nicely Bal really balanced uh
10:09 and then with the coil
10:17 split that's where maybe it's less
10:19 balanced so again we always criticize or
10:22 we often criticize humbuckers in their
10:25 split modes for sounding a bit thin but
10:27 it's I like it in its position too
10:32 um I mean Mr Pete why don't you take us
10:34 through some tones on there different
10:36 body wise the wood is uh so you got
10:40 twoie but but it's got the um what is it
10:44 called the drillings the whole the
10:45 chambering the chambering I couldn't
10:46 find the word so you're completely right
10:48 totally forgot to tell you so both
10:49 models have uh the chambering I'm not
10:51 sure it doesn't feel lighter than a than
10:55 a normal guitar so I'm not interesting I
10:57 think the the chambering that y did on
10:59 rev star was very much uh you know
11:02 claiming to be a tonal thing just trying
11:05 to alter the tone of it so perhaps
11:06 they're trying to do the same on
11:07 Pacifica but it's that also had uh some
11:10 kind of uh what's it called fiber optic
11:12 cables in here no what's it called what
11:15 is it called using the cars man what is
11:16 it called carbon fiber carbon fiber they
11:18 had carbon fiber rots in the other ones
11:20 the RAR yeah yeah yeah you know Carbon
11:23 fi car fiber optic so I'm going into the
11:52 sounds good I love this system here it's
12:01 bought some shares in goto 5 years ago
12:03 like I mean everyone's using them now
12:07 they maybe I have got shares in goto I
12:10 was just about to say about say but you
12:12 have Lee but you have you just haven't
12:20 anyone hey your foot you gone you shot
12:34 I don't mind that split you know I
12:36 don't on its own it's fine but then you
12:39 go to the neck pickup you realize the
12:40 neck pickup's quite a bit
12:46 louder it's not louder it's just more
12:48 low end in it yeah just going to put the
12:50 boo side of the day on day in
13:01 yeah then it becomes a bit brittle
13:05 yeah not brittle it's not the top top
13:20 end it's good it's a great guitar I mean
13:23 this genre well genre or this this
13:26 category of guitar which is you know
13:28 it's it's leaning into like a classic
13:30 Strat design but then giving some
13:32 contemporary features that it would have
13:34 taken from you know Brands like ivanz or
13:36 whatever and you you end up with this
13:38 sort of sits in the middle and it's a
13:40 super popular category you've got brand
13:43 you know ianz are doing this kind of
13:44 vibe with their azed series I guess you
13:47 could even say Brands like charel have
13:48 always done this kind of you know it's a
13:51 studio guitar man you know it's a studio
13:53 got reminds me a bit of like a like a s
13:56 S7 kind of vibe you know and I know
13:58 actually s have um at the time we're
14:02 shooting this video these guitars
14:03 haven't been announced yet but they will
14:05 have done by the time this video comes
14:06 out s have gone up Market with their
14:09 Colton yeah they've gone up to I think
14:11 there's a 10 series now as well so it
14:14 they all sort of sit and of course you
14:15 know Fender do some with player Plus or
14:17 whatever and Ultra they do some more
14:19 contemporary so it's you got lots of
14:21 choice and it's hard to really know I
14:24 like it I really like you know there's
14:26 not a lot objectively that we can really
14:29 say to go oh you should buy this one or
14:31 that one I think they they're all really
14:35 nicely made they all have a very
14:37 familiar feeling you know neck I don't
14:40 think you're going to pick up one and go
14:41 oh my God this feels radically different
14:42 to the next one so I think a lot of it
14:44 will just be what is it that resonates
14:46 with you in terms of colors and styling
14:49 and and the brand itself price price
14:51 probably isn't going to be hugely
14:52 different across the different brands
14:54 and gr is now is a good price now for
14:57 you know like a gr mid mid
14:59 entry over what's it called not it's
15:02 like middle class guitar wasn't it Grand
15:04 everything is a grand it does it does
15:05 feel like that's the that's the point
15:09 that's the sweet spot where you start to
15:10 get probably the the most for your money
15:13 yeah um I think it's good we haven't
15:16 done any overdrive yet go on then do
15:17 some overdrive okay so here's the
15:19 protein on the blue
15:29 I've had a fight with a with no actually
15:46 paneling it's flat it's I can feel that
15:49 flatness yeah I don't mind it but it's
16:25 it sounds it's got that Strat type type
16:28 tone I know we keeps throwing that word
16:30 out there but that's what it is is it
16:32 but it's more controlled it's more
16:34 controlled than that you know you can
16:35 it's interesting on this I'm I'd
16:38 completely uh it hadn't even crossed my
16:40 mind that this was a sort of a 14in
16:43 radius flat fretboard and I think the
16:45 reason being is this isn't the action on
16:49 this guitar isn't really utilizing that
16:53 flat fretboard so it's very much got
16:55 like a a fender style action on it so
16:58 I'm like yeah I'm it's got nines on it
16:59 as well and all that stuff I think I
17:01 think it feels this one feels better at
17:02 a 10 than it does at a 14 right okay but
17:05 that's just my I mean I think you
17:07 probably I'm guessing the whole con the
17:09 whole point of the flatter fretboard is
17:11 you could take the action down if that
17:13 was the kind of player you were but I
17:15 always feel as soon as you do that then
17:17 bending strings becomes a bit you know
17:19 more it's a different experience yeah
17:22 you should be able to bend the B though
17:52 I just I've just know I mean I I do
17:55 aesthetically really like this scratch
17:56 plate I think it's quite difficult on
17:58 new guitar designs to to change anything
18:00 that's really classic and then but what
18:03 I have noticed as well which is
18:04 interesting and it always reminds me of
18:06 an old Eddie Van Halen sort of anecdote
18:08 which was he liked his pickups screwed
18:11 into the body of the guitar not the
18:12 hucker and actually when you've got a
18:14 scratch plate normally you wouldn't see
18:16 that normally you would just see all the
18:17 pickups mounted to the scratch plate but
18:19 Yamaha quite cleverly have mounted the
18:21 two single coil pickups to the scratch
18:23 plate but then they've they've cut the
18:25 you know the the scratch plate is
18:27 designed so the hum is mounted direct to
18:29 the body and then the access holes the
18:32 holes you need to adjust the uh height
18:34 of that humbucker they just cut the
18:36 scratch plate around it so it's quite
18:38 cleverly done well you what they also
18:40 managed they managed for the humburger
18:41 to stay level a lot of them when they've
18:44 got one screw into the wood it tilts it
18:46 tilts to one side this doesn't I
18:48 appreciate that the iberus kind of does
18:51 that especially on the old a said 24s
18:53 they had had like tilt so you couldn't
18:55 really get it in the middle describe
18:57 this I'm pretty sure that Yamaha could
19:01 probably put some Speck out around this
19:04 but I think it's the I think it's the
19:06 lacquer on the neck is different and it
19:11 feel nicer whatever nicer means and
19:14 that's a pro you got there yeah you can
19:15 tell by the logo here it's like in not
19:18 emboss what is it called is that called
19:19 OSS it's like is it in it is OSS an
19:22 embossed um sort of shiny logo as
19:25 opposed to just the black uh got as well
19:29 yeah well yeah on the front actually
19:31 it's doing what Fender do isn't it which
19:32 is they lacer the front of the headstock
19:34 but then leave the rest of it satin it's
19:37 really nice I really like it no so many
19:40 guitars at that price point and then
19:41 it's like here's here's your in you know
19:43 your standard one here's your
19:45 professional one there's so many of
19:46 those I think that's the challenge Now
19:48 isn't it if there isn't you
19:52 back 15 20 years everyone had their Lane
19:56 Fender did the classic thing ianis did
19:58 did the Contemporary thing Jackson did
19:59 the heavy thing you know it's like you
20:01 went okay well that's the style of music
20:02 I play so that's the brand I should
20:04 probably look at now it's just like
20:06 everybody does everything do the fan is
20:08 this this is was that a poly just a poly
20:10 lacer on here you would think yeah
20:12 really nicely done yeah I agree
20:14 everything but they always do everything
20:16 was nice um let's let's just Let's Jam
20:19 out with something a bit rockier let's
20:21 do some dad Rock absolutely who are the
20:23 saying that who are these aimed at apart
20:25 from like I can see a studio musician
20:27 having one of these using it for lots of
20:29 different things but you know um even on
20:31 stage it's the it's the guitar player
20:35 that sees themsel more as a traditional
20:39 guy or girl you know like so they've
20:41 probably got a fender but they're sort
20:43 of you know what I just I really want
20:45 something with a slightly more wibbly
20:48 slight but I don't I don't want to look
20:50 like I'm trying to be Steve V or
20:52 something like that or you know I just I
20:54 mean there the colors you know the
20:56 colors I love this I love this um Dusty
20:59 or AED or whatever the color great yeah
21:02 do you know what I'm a bit my absolute
21:04 favorite I'm a bit done with shell pink
21:06 now I'm that's what I mean this is like
21:08 the muted colors and you can see here
21:11 the carve here looks really good on this
21:12 look the carve what do they call this
21:15 pink Ash pink Ash pink yeah is that
21:18 careful if you got a slight speech
21:20 impediment there that could come out
21:21 wrong couldn't it um the burst colors
21:25 are yeah the burst colors I think are
21:28 the pro series and the solid colors are
21:30 the standard series aren't they but
21:32 again we'll put links below so you can
21:34 see the full range of and while please
21:36 like And subscribe as well we could we
21:38 forget to say that in the beginning
21:39 forgot to say that in the beginning
21:40 right um let's do this Dad yeah let's do
